I just thought I would throw this out as an idea to all of you guys. I've been to other websites in the past and they've had this sort of "e-mailing" I guess you could say, system.

I was actually toying with the idea of putting a type of message service into the ComNet. I have been putting it off since there were more important things that needed to get done first.
Though, if more people feel this would be a valuable feature in helping with communication within the VE, I could perhaps re-evaluate when to implement this feature. -----------------------

Alright, thats cool Kadann.
I sure would like it, it would be an effective way to communicate instead of going through the hassle of e-mail a ton of people and going through each individual profile. Since it is a small organization, all's you'd have to do is put a Members List up. ^_^ -----------------------

I don't know about the communications thing. To me, it's just an added luxury. Email would still probably be faster to get messages across since everyone is going to be in your address book, and all you'd have to do is click on their names to direct a mass-message to all of your recipients. I don't see how this ComNet Messeging service would be any faster since you still would have to select member names individually.

Well if I'm understanding it correctly, if you saw someone on Comnet and wanted to get their attention, messaging them would be a quick and effective way to do it. I think it would be a great tool, but not one that should be high on the list of things to do. -----------------------

I agree with Angel, although I'm not entirelly sure how often it would be used. Its a rare occasion when I send a message to a specific 'some one'... However, I do beleive that if ever there, in fact, need be to send a message to someone, and it were urgent... It would probably be most effective considering that many people forget to check their e-mails on a regular basis, and when they do, its because they're expecting something. Fines, warnings, or helpful suggestions could be sent through the system far more effectively.

That's basically the only real question. Who would use it? Because those who are posting here are people who are on at times they know will work, like Talon suggested, some people go to IRC for thier answers while others have thier contacts on MSN or whatever else. So just find a group that would need it, or decide that immediete messaging is really worth the hassle just for timing... That's your dilemma. Will there be thing that need to be immediete like that? I don't have problems that I need to report at high speed, but I suppose someone else might... -----------------------
