Going to New York - Any recommendations?

Hey,
I will go on vacation next March - to New York!
I have been there twice times before and I am very excited about the third time.
So I wanted to ask some real Americans - like you (even if you voted for Bush :P ) !
Well, I am going with my whole family:
father (57), mother (57), sister (34), brother (31) niece (12), and me (20).
So what clubs, shops, restaurants, bars, special events, or even some Star Wars related locations can you recommend me? I am looking for special places, perhaps not every tourist knows.
Anything is wanted, and it would be nice if a lot of you answer me!
Thank you -
for understanding my f***** *** ** *******r english.

I've been there a few times, even though not in the past two years. I do remember a Star Wars store there - forget the name. It had all the new Star Wars stuff as well as a Star Wars Movie Marathon every Saturday. They would show all the episodes in order (except for Episode III, of course). Hell, I don't even know if it's still around. ----------------------- Revenge is what holds this galaxy together. Without it, the universe would be a boring place.

Dammit Stormie... I finally move away from the east coast and you're coming. There's actually quite a lot to see in NYC. The nice thing is, there are racks of tourist information around the bus stops. Avoid the park at night and you should be fine. There's a Sunglasses Hut near Time Square that seems to never be open, so if you try and you actually make it into the door you are more lucky than I have ever been. Be sure to make it to FAO Schwartz (however the hell they spell it) so you can see the toy store from the movie Big. Don't expect the large piano on the floor though. It's not that big. There are a few rather large candy stores that make my mouth water every time I think about them too. Basically make note of where your ride is and wander with a map in your hands. You can get lost, but if you have a map it's easy to find where you are again. ----------------------- OO/SM Sierra "Talon" Taurus/HC-3/VEHC/VE[BC][IOC][LoC][SoS][BM][CDS][MSM]

Just remember: noone there cares if you cry for "help." You have to yell "fire" if you want anyone to come help. Which is absolutely sad. Thus the reason why I hate cities. ----------------------- FL/PO2 Chipmunk Man/Kaph 3-1/Phoenix/mSSD Atrus/DEF/VEN/VE/(=A=)[LoC][MC:1]

And always use the 'buddy' system, you know where you partner up with someone slower then you so that when you run away your attackers go after them first. ;P
Being a resident of the West Coast and never having gotten farther east then Las Vegas, Nevada I'm affraid I can't offer any real suggestions.
Though as has been stated before I have heard from those that have been there before that you *WILL* need a map.
I've noticed in the majority of cities that I have been to Avenues run North South and Streets East West. But knowing my luck NYC has some wierd discombobulated system that would throw my two years of expierience as a delivery driver out the window.
Have fun you lucky son of a b****. ----------------------- Kuroishi Wraith VEA

Wait, there are actually places where the streets are ordered?!
Yeah, I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pa, and everything there was a confusing and discombobulated mess, the streets running every which way in no particular order. ----------------------- FL/PO2 Chipmunk Man/Kaph 3-1/Phoenix/mSSD Atrus/DEF/VEN/VE/(=A=)[LoC][MC:1]

Well, they have a lot of museums and stuff, and the zoo is better than the one in Washington DC, but I just never liked the city. You can still see the remnants of the booming steel days. A lot of the suburbs are carved into the mountains of "slag," waste from the coal firing process. For years it was too dangerous to eat any of the fish in the rivers, though I think that's gotten better. I've always thought it was an absolute shame that they destroyed the old colonial-era Fort Pitt, just make room for another freeway... The Carnegie Science Center, Carnegie Museum of Natural History, Pittsbugh Zoo, Mt. Washington Incline, Point State Park, and Gateway Clipper riverboat fleet are all good points of interest if you ever decide to come to Pittsburgh. It even has less crime than a lot of other cities.
Wow, I sound like a tourism board employee...
[Edit: Bah, almost forgot. There's also the Pittsburgh History Center, a musuem that has all kinds of stuff about the city's history, mostly dealing with the steel industry of the 1880's-1910's. And that's right next to the strip district, another cool place. No, I don't mean dancing girls and topless bars. The strip district has a whole bunch of specialty food stores and restaurants, mom-and-pop type places where you can get all sorts of hard to find and fresh foods.]

Hey Stormie... I found a few more cool places from my friend. There's a bunch of secret "hangouts" in the suburbs of NYC. My friend lived there most of his life. If you're in the suburbs, look for him. He'll direct you to the cool spots. His name is Anthony Lavin. He lives just outside of New York in one of the surburbs... damn, I forget the name... Well, good luck anyway in New York. ----------------------- Revenge is what holds this galaxy together. Without it, the universe would be a boring place.
