I know the "favorite topics" tend to be somewhat worn out, but I'm bored. So. Feel free to post a list of a few.

"Wagon Wheel" is pretty cool. I'm told that Bob Dylan wrote it, but never recorded it. The cover I have is by Old Crow Medicine Show. Very bluegrassy.

The Greatful Dead also have a sweet cover of the Dylan song "Desolation Row." Also by the Dead is "Fire on the Mountain." The best version of that is on the newly released set The Closing of Winterland. Not to mention another Dead song, though I can't seem to figure out the name. It's either "Shades of Gray" or "I Will Get By."

Either Castles Made of Sand by Jimi Hendrix, Five to One by The Doors, Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin, or Moonlight Sonata by whoever.

I was going to say Moonlight Sonata (Beethoven's Seventh Symphony) but it looks like you already mentioned it.  I'm currently learning that on my guitar...  Anywho, I really like 'Respect for the Wind,' by Van Halen, or alteast Eddie Vanhalen.  It's just him on his guitar, his Eruption solo is also quite excellent and very soothing if you find mad guitar riffs to be mello...  Call Me, Call Me is that song from Cowboy Bebop that was made basically for the show, I think, and its on episode 24 I think, you know, the one where Ed takes off with Ein.  That's just excellent.  And the ending to the song 'Only In Dreams' by Weezer, the song itself is pretty cool, but I know some people hate that guys voice, but the instrumental itself is just ingenius.

"Hanging Around" by Counting Crows is good. That and "Boys of Summer" by Don Henley. Of course I've gotta say that classic "Won't Back Down" by ol' Johnny Cash. Just plain awsome is "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" by Big and Rich. I bought their CD just for that one song.

Gah, can't forget "Ashoken Farewell" from the Ken Burns Civil War documentary. Country to popular belief, that was not a period song. It was written in the 1980's. Still good, though. "Cotton Eye Joe" is classic, along with "Send Me on My Way" by Rusted Root. And Shawn Mullins' "Shimmer" is good. "Take it Easy" by the Eagles rules, too. I also like "Hallelujah" by Rufus Wainwright. Some of you may remember that from Shrek.

Novembe Rain, Welcome to the Jungle, Sweet Child of Mine, all classics from the GNR.

I think we should adress prince though, he wasn't prince for nothing, Purple Rain and the other song he had both included incredible guitar solos that I couldn't even beleive he was doing, so, I have respect for his music.  The two inparticular anyways...

Hey, it's all about the bluegrass, man. I've gotta say that almost the whole sound track to Cold Mountain was good. There were a few songs I wasn't fond of, but all in all quite a good CD. Very folky/bluegrassy. The two from Alison Krauss are my favorite on there.

Having Gravel everywhere must really suck
I've never had that problem, living in montreal. Skatespots everywhere. And if im not in a street mood, ive got about 5 relativly good parks all within a 30 minute bikeride of my house. You should try and get a park set up, or better yet build a mini pipe or something in your back yard (how I wish I had the room to do that )

And Yes Bittersweet Symphony!! It didn't click at first that thats the name of the song!

I agree Snipes, Punk is good for its fast paced intensity. Great to Skate to. I also really like almost all non-rap/hip-hop songs in all Skate Videos, they are incredibly good to skate to (partially becuase you can always picture the Pro doing stuff during the song). Must stop typing before I end up writing Skateboarding 101 for all you non-skaters

im trying to scrounge up enough money to get build something for skating around herei have all the room in the world. the closest skate park is 3 miles away and it hardly deserves the name,

Metallica is great, also some great non-punk bands are nickleback and Rob Zombie.

yeah, i avoid rap/hip-hop and country if i can, it realy makes me sick when i hear people blasting country from thier cars, theres something so. . .wrong about it.

I've always been fond of the oldies.  There are so many out there though: stairway to heaven-led zepplin, boheimien rhapsody, we are the champions-queen, hotel california-eagles,  hey jude, let it be, in my life and a whole buncha others by the beatles, california dreamin-the momma's and the poppa's, sweet home alabama-lynard skunard, crazy train-ozzy, eye of the tiger, and mrs robinson, sounds of silence-simon and garfunkal.

all time favourites are stairway to heaven and boheimian rhapsody

Everyone puts alot of enphasis on the Hell Freezes over album with the remake of Hotel California on it.  Yes, it's quite awesome, but I think that the very very first version is the best one.  Sure that little spanish guitar bit at the begining of HC Live is quite awesome, but the original was still better.  Kind of like Dream On from AeroSmith, when he had the real voice, it changed at about the point where he started singing "You look like a lady"...

Survivor also needs tribute, they brought us one of the most recognizable theme songs ever...  For those of you who don't know, thats 'Eye of the Tiger' from Rocky...

Snipes, your best bet is building a mini pipe, since they connected in the middle so you don't need a smooth riding surface. Or if you want to go overboard, you can always make an above ground wooden bowl, but those are quite costly.

A 6 feet wide and 12 feet long mini pipe can cost around $150 - 250 (canadian) depending on what kind of wood you get, and if you apply the maconite sheet or not. A kick-ass room sized mini pipe (maybe about 12' wide and 16-18 feet long) will cost around $500. Now things are getting expensive (not like they were ever cheap). Hight dosent change the price that much, unless its a big diff, like a 3 foot mini and a 6 foot mini. At least I think those are the prices, kind of expensive but Mini pipes are fun as hell!

yeah, Zaf, thats pretty much what i'mm looking at doing, i have all the room anybody could ever need, about three acres of flat land i can put stuff on, my only problem is i need to figure out some way to be able to move this stuff into a shed during the winter months when we have a couple feet of snow.

i kinda like Simple Plan's 'I'm Just a Kid' and 'Welcome to my Life'

Gah, can't stand punk! My brother listens to that stuff... I will allow one exception: my friend's christian-punk band. They're really pretty darn good; they've won several battles-of-the-bands, and have one or two CD's.

But don't even think about dissing country! "Save a Horse" is awsome!

Or my Chevolet
For your Escapade
Or your freak parade
I'm the only John Wayne left in this town."

Yeah. It's pretty much punk music, but the lyrics are christian. They call themselves the "Perfekt Gentlemen."

I can't stand Nickleback or Three Doors Down, or anything from "hip hop'...  It just blows my mind how crappy its all getting...  I'm not much of a punk fan, I don't really have the respect for it, as well as with country.  Just can't enjoy it because it all sounds the same to me, except for a couple of the incredible female singers they have.

Some good female singers, which we've failed to mention, are Maria Carey (who's supposebly suicidal because she's a total bitch.)
