It's better to do it in decent graphic programs, say photoshop or something, rather than something like paint. But overall, the small details go away, and are just filled by a little dot of whatever it used to be. That's why i try to have pictures that are not to complicated. The other thing you can do is instead of having the whole picture, you pick out a part of the big picture, then you don't have as much to resize, which would make the resulting pic more detailed, but showing less of the original.

I need new avatars for both of my characters: Kairo and Hunter. Unfortunately, I can't find any good pics for what they would look like. I don't care if it is anime like or some drawing. I just want the avatars to look like what Kairo and Hunter look like. If you can find a picture that I like, I'll pay a million credits. I have to like it though. Oh, and that's a mil for just one of them. If you manage to find both.. you get a two mil, in case you couldn't do the math. So, if you find something you think fits the bill, send it to [email protected]. If you don't know what Kairo or Hunter look like, find their bios, they're on the wiki.

Oh, and if you feel like being extra industrious and make the whole avatar package with frame, I'll throw in an extra 100k...
