I agree with you Mars, and the Missle Defense project had potential. Maybe in the future once we can get a better idea of how to control it, we can start it back up. But at the time it was providing us with less than we were providing it.

John Kerry just like any other person can make the occasion stupid statement and can sound awkward at times.  Most politicians, for better or worse, have also lied in some way shape or form.

That being said, at least Kerry is an honourable man who would gain respect from around the world instead of the Texas draft dodging cowboy who runs around in flight suits and tells terrorists to "bring it on".

To be quite honest, I am tired of seeing the pure and utter arrogance of the Bush administaration, their lies, their isolationism, and their divide and conquer polices.  Not being an American I cant speak for the situation in America but I can speak for how a non-American sees Mr. Bush.  His lies have cost people's lives, his actions has caused terrorism to breed in a place where it wasnt able to before.  His disregard for the United Nations have helped to seriously undermine one of the most important global organisations.  His divide and conquer speeches have caused people to regard him with serious mistrust.

Kerry's "lies" cost some of the air in the room and a couple seconds out of someone's day.  Bush's lies cost the lives of Americans, the civil rights of Americans, an enormous sum of money, and the deaths of thousands of innocent civilians in a country where the US shouldnt be in the first place.

Bush has helped to make the US one of the three greatest threats to global peace and stability, his isolationism has lost the US the respect of the world.

For the sake of world peace, stability, multilateralism, and the lives of people everywhere, Bush must be defeated in the coming election.

We should do away with parties and make it so people can't run under a title... that way people will be forced to look up their standings and hot issues. There are too many people on both sides (and the other little guys too) that don't care what the person finds important. They just aim for the elephant or donkey (etc) when it comes time to vote. It's time people did research on who they were voting for. I can think of a half dozen people I know that do.

By the way, in short, it wasn't a lie, just a stupid way of saying something along the lines of "I voted for the original design of the bill, but not for how it eventually went to the whole Senate."

As for tax load, seeing as we pay less taxes per measure of our GDP than 28 of the top 30 industrialized nations in the world (members of the OECD, that is), that is a total and complete line of bull crap.  We only pay more taxes than Mexico, and you see how great they think their economy is.

Basically, as long as my taxes are being spent nominally on providing for education, security, roads, social security and other wonderful services that government should be there to provide; then I'm happy to watch the IRS do its work.  If you hate taxes so much, go move to some anarchist country and realize how much you actually LIKE police, fire, military, and infrastructure protection.

As for taxes for the rich, in 1960 they paid a 91% tax rate, JFK dropped it to 70%.  And still people earning millions of dollars bitch about a 33.6% tax rate (that's pre-loopholes, mind)?  Give me a frigging break.  Shut up, realize your immense benefits compared to the rest of this country and pay into the system that gives you the right to get filthy rich. You don't see Warren Buffett and George Soros complaining that they are being abused because of being successful.  That's because they are smart enough to see the big picture.

As for no a no-party system, I would be all on board with that.  Too bad no one ever figured out that George Washington was right all along when he said he absolutely thought parties were a bad idea.

I'm not trying to be disrespectful or insubordinate here Fury, but that might have been a *bit* out of line. I can see where the anger would come from if your brother was KIA, but you have to remember, he signed up for it (please correct me if I'm wrong that he willingly went into the military) Anyone who joins the armed forces does so with the knowledge that they may end up putting their lives on the line for their country. They knowingly and willingly accepted this duty. I do not think we should tarnish the memories of all the soldiers who have died fighting this War, by saying their deaths were a waste, that their deaths were meaningless.  No death is meaningless, we can learn something from everyone of them. What we are experiencing is nothing compared to the Vietnam War. If you look up "wasted life" in the dictionary, it should talk about Vietnam. That wasnt our fight and had nothing to do with us, save to prevent the spread of communism in Asia. That compounded with the draft, which is a vile and spiteful thing, made Vietnam 100 billion times worse that W cleaning up daddies mess.

If we had done nothing after 9/11, what would the world be like? If America had stayed the sleeping giant, would it continued to have been pecked away at? Like it or not, believe it or not, Sadaam Hussein was a threat to the US. Did he have WMD? I don't know. But you can DAMN sure bet that if he could get his hands on some he would, and he would use them too.

There is a time for diplomacy and a time for action. We tried diplomacy after the Gulf War. Hussein locked out weapons inspectors and openly flaunted UN sanctions. Action is what was needed. Was it the right course? that is not for me to say. I believe that the only people who will EVER know if we did the right thing will be our children, looking back on this in history class.

So Fury, I hope I wasn't taking you out of context, but its 4:30 and I'm a little woozy. I just wanted to say, that your comment surprised me, and while I understand where its coming from, I don't agree with it at all.

Last time i checked the "filthy rich" didnt pay anywhere NEAR to 90% of the taxes. Considering the rich is like 20% of this country. Correct me if im wrong on anything.

On another note, Talon has got it right. It shouldnt matter if you are a donkey or a elephant or whatever you are. Voting for the right person for the country would be better than some idiot that runs on "your side". This country is becoming a battlefield with the two major forces. Republicans and Democrats. Sorry, if you make more than 10 million dollars a year you should get your pants taxed off. The amount some of the CEO's earn is just insane. These people are earing more than 25 million dollars a year and yet we have millions of people homeless and living in what is close to nothing. If you ask me thats just disgusting.
