I saw the movie yesterday, and all I can say is: wow. I don't care about the controversy surrounding the movie(bogus, but I'm not posting this to debate.) I don't care if you are Christian, Jewish, Muslim, atheist, or Garyist (worshippers of Gary the Mushroom), there is no way you can see this movie and not be touched in some way.
As a purely theatrical standpoint, this movie was incredible. The acting was inspired, the special effects were unbelievably real, the costumes were right on the money, and the use of the language of the day made the viewing more of a time warp then a purely theatre-going experience.
But the movie goes deeper then that. Everyone has heard the story of how Christ died, and we all know that it was bad, but the human mind just can't visualize the horror that Jesus of Nazereth went through. I'm man enough to admit it, I cried several times in that movie, and I wasn't the only one. It was hard to watch, both from a purely violence point of view, and to think that it was being done to Jesus. I haven't ever cried like that because of a movie, the closest I came was seeing old yeller when I was real young, (don't laugh, you know you cried when old yeller was shot.)
There is my review. Post on here to tell me what you thought of the movie, and go see this masterpiece. You will not be sorry that you did.

JMac, someone needs to be paying you for this review. I've stood in line with rabid, near-psychotic people screaming "All you unbelievers MUST SEE THIS MOVIE!" whilst waiting for tickets to see Miracle and Hidalgo recently. Frankly, that kind of bludgeoning turns me off and I found those other two movies to have a positive message without all the hype and hysteria.
Plus, I've read some really nasty reviews, have a policy of not supporting racism in any form (as the movie is purported to have), and just really don't want to see a person getting whipped for five minutes; movie magic or not.
You, in a few paragraphs, covered the movie in the way it should have been the whole time before the media flinched and the hyper-conservatives couldn't hold restraint anymore. Indeed, based on this report (read: not testimony, not harangue), you may yet get me to watch it. Which is a concept I had not had in my head 10 minutes ago.
Thanks for bringing sanity and appreciation to a serious and delicate issue of our day.

I honestly couldn't find any inherent racism in the movie, people were portayed as they were in the bible and other historical records, not in any steriotypical manner.
As for the violence, I'm not going to lie to you, it is grotesque. The subject matter is grotesque. Jesus was beaten, scourged, humiliated, and finally nailed to a piece of wood with a bad joke over his head. The violence is hard to watch, but it is done as it would have been, not exaggerated or understated but starkly revealed. ----------------------- LCM_ JMac/(=A=)(=SA=)(=MA)(=FOCE=)(MC1)(VC)

I admit that I have not seen the movie (though I want to), but here is what I have to say to those who say it is to graphic, racisist, etc.
"The Bible is criticized most by those who read it least." -Sign outside a local church. ----------------------- "The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits." -Albert Einstien
"There is a certain kind of peace that can be found only on the other side of war." -Sean Connery as King Arthur in "First Knight."
"People like you are the reason people like me take medication." -Cool T-shirt

I've seen it a while back. The was very well-made and very well-directed. The fact that the entire movie was spoken in Hebrew really adds an interesting and real impact when you watch the movie.
The movie is, indeed, the most violent movie I've ever seen in my life. I got sick to my stomach, I felt dizzy, and I could've sworn that my body temperature rose up five degrees. I was seriously considering getting up and lying down on one of the loby's small couches.
The movie really gets you to start thinking about what one man, the Son of God, had endured for the love of us. What he went through-the torture and being nailed to the cross-were the most frightening and real scenes for me.
If you are contemplating on whether or not to see this movie, I'd definately say its worth your while. You're going to pay $10 bucks for an inspirational, and possibly life-changing, experience. (By life-changing, I mean a large impact on how you view life and Jesus).
Oh, and by the way. The theatre was packed, and I never heard one peep from anyone, save for a the few who cried, but it was the most silent theatre I've ever been in. ----------------------- Cleric "Cosmic" Vor'soth

he says "have you seen the 'Passion of the Christ'?".
she says "no, but i've read the book".
he says "oh! there's a new book?"
took him a while to get it... ----------------------- blah909/Crewman in Kaph Squadron
