RE: Alternate Route, Thilidian Sector
Rumors of the Thilidian Sector have kept many of our intelligence resources busy for the past year. Quietly we have moved in many survey teams and have bribed as many freighter pilots as possible to develop a concept of the scope of our discovery of this region of space.
We have had some success with two squad missions on the planet Sera Vessa, the gateway to the Thilidian sector. It was believed that this was the only way into the sector because of a very, very large natural and artificial construct known as the Besdoaari Belt, a series of dense asteroid fields and what is believed to be the remains of at least two planets purposely destroyed to create this astrogation barrier.
We have, through research and payouts to various illegal mining operations, found a way through the Belt, past the formidable defense force based at the deep space facility known as Besdoaari City, and into what is called the hinterlands of the Thilidian Sector.
If this is the fringe, then there is promise further in. Our maps have deliniated a zone of at least four habitable planets, three of which have resources and limited population. The fourth is a large trade planet with contacts to the rest of the sector. It is considered unwise to bring our activities to their attention at the current time.
The planets currently under consideration for resource gathering and installation sites are: Leth 54, Osk 191, and Zerek 456. The nomenclature of these planets (aurebesh and numerics) indicate they are likely sites explored and subsequently deleted from Old Republic and Imperial records. The reason for thier disappearance is another thread being followed by intelligence.
Osk 19 is composed of 5000 employees of military-economic consortium mining the planet for its resources. The planet appears to be the site of a catastrophic ecological event, perhaps the result of a military conflict. One former military analyst compared it to the aftermath of a Base Delta Zero incident, which would be unlikely as a Star Destroyer has likely never crossed the Besdoaari Belt.
Leth 54 hosts a mostly scientific team of 800 individuals who conduct experiments on what is likely a very primitive planet untouched by civilization. This site is considered a valuable planet for a relay station and some light industry.
Zerek 456 is a planet in dire need of assistance. Four million beings call this planet home. It appears to be a planet divided between differing - and conflicting - governments and territories. We have made contact with one faction, the Zelus Confederacy and gained concessions with them to establish a military base in their zone, around their capital city Alordor. The only condition is the complete and utter annilihation of their main competitor's capital city.
It is believed that this can be achieved with minimal intervention. Military opposition is in the form of 600,000 troops with pre-Clone Wars era equipment. Air elements are considerable but will be addressed by the Zelus Confederacy. Space elements can be readily dealt with by two automated turbolaser gun stations which will be deployed with any combat force sent.
This should be a simple workout session for a squad or two of our finest troopers. Intelligence considers this a viable and cost effective option to gaining a foothold in the Thilidian Sector.
Attachments and details follow.

The inherent problem of this mission is coordination. This is a planet, indeed, an area of space, with little success in long range hyperspace travel. Trade operates from planet to planet, with the occasional caravan considered a risky venture. The same method applies to their military actions. Large, slow, pondering advances are recorded throughout this planet's history. However, this is a planet in decline. Population losses throughout the past 200 years has been recorded at up to 75%. The ability to maintain the resources and manpower to wage large-scale warfare is not available; yet, these methods remain.
The target area is the capital city of the Rybril Federation, Dayust. The government sector of this city is a multi-block area of large business buildings and smaller, ornate government facilities, with some residential mixed in.

Frog yawned as he headed at a half-run for the briefing room, he'd only gotten back from the ARC's last mission a day or two ago, and already Jester was being sent out to some long forgotten world in the Emperor's knows what system. Luckily his gear was already sorted, he'd cleaned and re-packed it not long after getting home, when the rumour of a Jester mission came to light.
He could only hope Hashi would make it alright on time, he'd taken a hit and couple of near misses last mission, and while last he'd heard the boy suffered little more then hurt pride. with Merrick moved out of Jester, it would've been nice to have the squad at full capacity for this mission, even if Hashi and himself probably could've done it alone.
Rounding the last corner, Frog stopped just outside the door, straightening his uniform and steadying his breathing before walking into the briefing.

Dragoon read the datapad closely as he stood in front of his squad. They haven't been his squad long, but he knew that they would die on his command.
Dragoon looked over the faces of his troopers. On second thought, these guys wouldn't die for anything, Dragoon thought to himself.
"Well kids," he said to the group as he lit a cigarette, "looks like we have our first mission."
There were some scattered cheers from the troops, but for the most parts a collective sigh of relief. When troops don't do anything but train, troops get bored. And when troops get bored, Squad Leaders get harassed. And when Squad Leaders get harassed, Squad Leaders cry. That's the way of things in the Vast Empire Armed Forces, and Dragoon knew this well.
Dragoon showed the information that General Fury had sent to him. They all looked at the maps and information and nodded, but Dragoon had this inkling inside that they didn't really care what their mission was as long as people died. That's the kind of troops he liked.
"Okay, here's the gameplan," Dragoon said to Jester Squad. "We begin by taking a shuttle to Alordor on Zerck 456. As I'm sure you can tell by their impressive name, this planet is a bit under-developed. We're going to try and convince the consulate of the confederacy to mount a ground campaign against the Rybril's as a distraction. Should they decline, it's not a big deal. They are using pre-Clone Wars equipment and are currently fighting a war on two fronts."
He paused for a minute and looked over his troops. "Any questions so far?" Silence reigned for the first time in ages in the Jester Squad. Slightly disappointed at the lack of a sarcastic outburst, Dragoon continued.
"Our mission is to topple the Rybril government and secure the Zelus victory so we can then use the planet for the Vast Empire's own needs. We're going to do this by destroying a few key structures and killing a few key people in the Rybril government. The city is about as well defended as you'd expect from these type of people, meaning not very well defended at all, so the mission should be fairly simple. We're going to be taking some large explosives and regular rifles and carbines, with a few sniper rifles thrown in there in case we need them. If you all are ready, we'll board the shuttle." With that Dragoon shut off the holoprojector. ----------------------- SSGT Dragoon

Dragoon could hear his troops mumbling under their breaths about the lack of heavy weapons. Dragoon grinned. They would be surprised.
He led them to the shuttle, and into the cargo bay where they could get a good look at all of the equipment. As they entered the bay their eyes collectively lit up. There were four E-Webs, two rocket launchers, and multiple rifles of all shapes and sizes. But that's not what got their attention most. The hulking shape of a Juggernaut stood in front of them, in all of it's glory. Beside it stood two AT-PTs, looking small and deadly.
Some of the troops actually hugged Dragoon. Christmas had come early.

Frog wandered upto the transport shuttle with a big grin on his face, his personal gear was already stashed on the shuttle, and he had an E-Web over each shoulder. He glanced over and saw Hashi had acquired himself a missile launcher and Dragoon was carrying several satchels of what was almost undoubtably something explosive.
Squeezing himself in amongst all the equipment, he looked around at his squad mates doing the same, it seemed a change in SL was going to make a big difference for Jester, and from the looks of things this mission was going to be a blast.
Stretching, Frog slided down in his seat to catch a quick nap as the shuttle lifted off, and they were on their way. ----------------------- (-Vast Empire-) Sergeant Thomas "Firefrog" Phennir

Hashi squeezed himself between young Tylen and Sokudo, his arms hugging his new found lover, the Acklay-12 rifle he borrowed from the ARC armoury. He just couldn't get enough of that big nasty baby. Ever since that little gun duel back on Garqi he practically never went anywhere without with it. Hashi brought it to the mess, to the firing range, and even cuddled it to sleep in his bunk.
Carefully setting aside it aside, Hashi rummaged through his pack for a datapad. He flipped through the pages with a bored look on his face - the orders and the maps and the intel reports never seem to grab his interest. There was something about razing a capital city to the ground, though. Alot of political bantha poodoo going on Zerek 456 apparently. So long as he got his fair share of kills.. he'd be a happy boy.
He flicked his thumbs over the buttons until he came across what really interested him ; Jester's little inventory. Of course, there was nothing little about the heavy-assed Juggernaut stowed away in the cargo bay of their transport. His eyes grew misty with excitement, he had to ride that beauty sometime soon.
And of course, there were always the bazookas. His own missile launcher was casually propped up against the wall near him.
Chuckling, he put away the datapad and leaned back in his seat. It had been barely two days since he last saw action with the ARC, he jiggled his leg cheerfully as he thought of the blood that was to be shed in the very near future.
Even the prospect of his sore shoulder hampering his performance in combat didn't damper his eager young spirit, the docs back at base did a good job at patching him up with some good old bacta.

[OOC: Sorry for taking charge of the plan Dragoon, if you want anything changed, give me a yell ^_^ ]
Frog slowly opened his eyes, and gazed out from his small bunk, some of the Jesters were asleep in similar bunks, while the rest were lazing around the transports lounge. Hopping out of bed, he spared an odd look for Hashi, who was lying under his blanket, with an Acklay shaped lump poking out from his midsection.
Dragoon looked up as Frog rose, "Ah good, kick Hashi and Shadow awake, it's time to discuss strategy."
Ten minutes later, with the six Jesters sitting around a table with the map of Dayust displayed on it, Dragoon's idea of strategy became quite clear, as they discussed who wanted to blow up which part of the city.
"Maybe a more two pronged attack would be a better idea," said Frog, as Hashi and Dragoon argued over which one of them would get to explode the intelligence offices, "With the destruction we're sure to cause there, it would be easy for a couple of us to sneak around and manipulate events from the shadows."
Dragoon looked thoughtful, "Thats not bad at all, why don't you take Tylen and Sokudo and see what you can do, where would you want to hit?"
Frog plonked a finger down on the map, "The intelligence offices would be a good start, if they remain intact for long enough to raid," Hashi looked slightly sheepish at this point, "and then the Palace after that."
Dragoon nodded, "That sounds good, we'll start out at the military offices, and work our way north, should draw considerably attention away from you."
With a push of a button, Dragoon turned the holo-display of the map off, and looked up at everyone, "There's still the matter off the Zelus military, and their involvment in this. I'm hoping we can convince them to start skirmishing across the border of Rybril territory, a few days of battle out there should draw the majority of their forces away from the capital. If not, then at the very least we can hopefully get them to launch a one off attack, perhaps to spur the Rybril into counter-attacking, and letting their defense drop."
The rest of the squad was nodding agreement, when an alarm went off, and the red light in the corner of the room came on, "Right, we're dropping out of hyperspace, it's just a short journey through the asteroid field after this, and we'll be on our way, everyone strap yourselves in!" Dragoon ordered, getting to his feet.
Suddenly the transport shuddered slightly, and the blurred streaks of light out the window faded, replaced by the blackness of space, and ahead could be seen Beedoaari Belt. ----------------------- (-Vast Empire-) Sergeant Thomas "Firefrog" Phennir

Fury got up from the table and went to get another cup of caf. Even with the new autochef he had given these miners, the caf tasted like muck and the food not much better. Maybe he should have gotten them a droid chef.
Either way, it shouldn't be long now. While Jester was lumbering through the safer mapped out route to get here, Fury had taken the new express route layed out by scout teams just this past week. Eventually they were going to crack open the Unknown Regions and find out what type of force so effectively sealed it off from the rest of the galaxy.
Right now though, other than dropping off some satellites and gear for his scouts, he had another mission.
A comm tech paged him a message on his datapad and he looked at it, thankfully setting down his cup of caf before he could drink it again. The miners were all watching him eat in their mess as it was the end of their day. He obliged, but they couldn't make him like it. Maybe if he left them some brandy he could use some of it now....
He looked up at the quiet figure sitting across from him, "Heads up Raiden. Beacon a couple light years out picked up the transport. The squad should be here in an hour or so."
The new Jester squad member hadn't said much while he and Fury had made the trip out here in the dilapidated-looking Skipray blastboat Fury had been using for the past few visits.
That was alright as the astrogation was still tricky as they learned their way through this section of space.
In any case, he had delivered needed parts to the scouts and had an extra trooper for Dragoon and Co. once they stopped here to get their shuttle offloaded from the supply transport they were on. ----------------------- PRF/GEN Fury/VEA/TADATH/VE [SCP][PoC][SotE:HC][SotE:VEA][IOC]

"GAH!!! Could you be more careful?!" Dragoon shouted at the pilot.
"Shut up or I'm letting you out here," the pilot said as he concentrated on avoiding the asteroids. It was a dangerous path, but not terribly so. Dragoon still had this sneaking suspicion that the pilot was taking a few more risks than necessary, though.
"Okay, sit down, we're landing," the pilot said.
Dragoon eyed him warily. "I want to let you know right now, I don't like you," Dragoon said as he strapped himself in.
"I don't like you either," the pilot replied. "Luckily, I don't get paid to like my cargo."
Jester Squad could hear the curses coming out of the cockpit. "I didn't know that you could put so many curse words together while maintaining proper grammar," Hashi said in awe.
"Our Squad Leader is just a special guy, I guess," Firefrog responded.
The ship landed at the mining facility with no other problems. The squad exited to see General Fury and a younger gentleman standing behind him.
"How was the flight, Sergeant?" Fury asked Dragoon as Dragoon saluted him.
"I am going to kill that ****ing pilot if you don't do something about him," Dragoon replied.
"Sorry, he's a navy man, so you'll have to send a memo to Admiral Japheth if you want something done," General Fury replied. "And knowing your track record, I have the feeling that he didn't do anything that deserves death."
Dragoon gritted his teeth and emitted a growl of some sort, but said nothing else.
"Anyway, back on topic," Fury continued. "Meet Private Raiden, your new trooper." Raiden stepped up and offered Dragoon his hand.
Dragoon shook his hand rather vigorously. "Did you bring cigarettes?" he asked him with sparkling eyes.
"Uh... no sir," Raiden replied.
"Sithshit, why do I have to get a bunch of non smokers?" Dragoon cursed under his breath a little more. "Eh, welcome to the squad. Talk to Firefrog, he'll get you accustomed to the Squad and whatnot. Let's get moving as soon as possible."

Frog slapped Raiden on the back, "G'day, good to have you with us, always nice to have someone extra to send in in front of me," Frog chuckled, as Raiden tried to decide what to make of that, "I'm Firefrog, you can tag along with our firegroup this mission, will probably be safer then being anywhere near Dragoon."
Frog motioned to the other two Jesters standing nearby, who nodded a greeting as they were introduced, "This is Sokudo, and Tylen," said Frog, "you can get acquainted with the rest of the squad while we're waiting for negotiations with the Zelus to be concluded."
With the introductions finished, the squad headed off to the Zelus HQ to clean up and rest up while Dragoon and Fury tried to obtain what help they could from the local government for the upcoming attack. ----------------------- (-Vast Empire-) Sergeant Thomas "Firefrog" Phennir

Raiden stood straight, his shoulders square as he was introduced to his squad leader, the young man keeping his gaze beyond Dragoon until the other man spoke, offering his hand, "Thank you, sir, I look forward to the opportunity to serve under your command." the new recruit stated simply, not saying anymore than he needed too - as it was Raiden didn't like talking much, he prefered to let his actions say everything... besides, Raiden was just damn happy to be out of the Drill Squad.
Suprisingly Raiden hadn't been with the other outfit for long, though he didn't let the quick transferal go to his head, since he didn't quite know why he had been packed and shipped out so quickly... time would tell, obviously, but in the meantime the young man aimed to do his best for his new Squad. As he was introduced to Firefrog, a heavy slap on the back following suit, Raiden nodded to the other man, "Good to meet you," though he didn't show any reaction to the comment about being considered canon fodder, "I'm just glad to finally be here."
Hand absently fingering his DL-44 on his hip, Raiden listened as his fellow Jesters were introduced by Firefrog, Raiden nodding to them in turn, "Raiden, good to meet you." he said in a low voice, his blue eyes scanning each of his Squadmate's faces, becoming familiar with their appearance and distinguishing features - it always helped to know your friends when in a cramped situation of blaster bolts ripping through ozone... Raiden hadn't hit a friendly yet and he didn't plan on starting now.
Finally the group began to move on, Raiden following them silently as he gave a nod to Fury, "Thank you for the lift, sir, I appreciate it." then the young man fell into line behind his new squad, following them until they eventually gathered outside of the Zelus Headquarters. So far the squad didn't seem to be bad people, they all seemed friendly enough, and this made Raiden feel welcome.
Keeping silent, Raiden continued to follow, keeping his eyes open and his ears listening, there was always a chance to pick up information and grow a better understanding of what was around you... ----------------------- Private First Class Johnny Raiden

While Raiden had been introduced to his new squad, Merrick had been standing quietly behind Fury. The private still seemed unsure about how and why he was in Jester so fast, and even Merrick had been a little concerned about putting him into action so fast, but he seemed to be fitting in well enough. Enough time with Jester would loosen him up greatly. He still had the stiff and eager to please air that all recruits came into Jester with. The difference was, Merrick didn't get to train this one herself, though it had been her choice to place him under Dragoon's command.
Fury turned to Merrick, "Would be a shame to have brought you all this way and not have you make yourself useful. You can join us in the negotiations, as long as you don't say anything stupid." Merrick grinned then tried to look innocent, which got a chuckle out of Fury. Merrick saluted half-heartedly and jogged to catch up with her old squad, chatting with Firefrog and Hashi, as well as Raiden, as they walked. Fury wandered along behind, Merrick figured he was probably wondering why he had agreed to bring Merrick on this mission.
------
Merrick sat through the negotiations without saying a word, as she'd been advised, taking notes. Well, pretending to take notes at least. Dragoon looked even more bored, only adding something in when it was the best possible time to be an ass, as was normal for him. Fury shot him a few stern looks, but it did nothing to stop Dragoon's antics. But then, nothing really did, except when Kiption used to get angry with him. At this point Merrick thought she should actually start paying attention maybe, and just in time too, because the negotiations were ending. Everyone stood as the Zelus ambassadors left, and Fury sent Merrick and Dragoon to tell Jester the good news. The ground offensive that they wanted had been approved, and should make life a whole lot easier for the squad. Dragoon looked upset until Fury reassured him he could still blow up lots of buildings, just as long as he considered that there were other friendly troops now, too. ----------------------- TRP/GSG Merrick/High Command Assistants/AAS-1/VEA/VE [CotE][SoA]

Fury was smoking a cigarra outside the building where the meeting had taken place. Zerek 456, or at least this part of it, was a very beautiful place. Quaint really in that very little technology had made it out to this planet, or at least was not still functioning. While the military had gotten back up to almost Clone Wars-era technology, the civilian end of things was functioning on a wheeled and human-powered system. Sure, it was all automated, but centuries behind the galaxy at large.
Some of the history he'd been able to dig up showed this planet to be a colony populated not so many hundreds of years ago. While the colony ships were still used primarily as trade vessels, the few non-functioning ones were basically museums to a life no one on this rock could understand. Fury could almost relate, but even on Bovo Yagen they had autochefs and repulsorlift vehicles, even if life their wasn't as glamorous as a holodrama.
In any case, their new allies had agreed to open an offensive, including a deep bomber run into the enemy's capital city to mask the drop of Jester squad and the company of troops that would be attached to them. Some would fight close with Jester, the rest would be attempting to cause a diversion by destroying the power grid and other essential services.
Fury decided to stick around and try to open up some Imperial Center offices here. Might as well make a few credits on this deal. He'd have this place covered in consumer goods in no time. ----------------------- PRF/GEN Fury/VEA/TADATH/VE [SCP][PoC][SotE:HC][SotE:VEA][IOC]

Frog hunched over his rapid deployment vehicle. Wasn't really fair to call it a vehicle though, it was basically a repulsorlift with handles. Jester had had a pretty leisurely time getting ready, and once Dragoon had realised Fury had brought the RDVs with him, it had been his idea to actually drop Jester in as PART of the bombing raids.
The ground offensive had started two days ago, the Zelus making small raids over the border, but mostly just defending it, while their artillary made a mess of Rybril territory. The Rybril would probably be starting to get suspicious, and wondering why the Zelus weren't advancing any further.
Frog felt the bomber veer off, meaning they were on their final approach. The other bombers would be continuing straight on to a cluster of military installations to the west of the capital, whereas the Jester's bomber would be delivering its special payload straight to Dayust under cover of darkness.
He looked up as a red strobe began flashing in the hanger bay, and tightened his grip on the handles. A few minutes later a rush of wind blew into the hanger as the bay doors swung open. He took a deep breath, and suddenly he was falling down towards the lighted carpet that was the city Dayust. ----------------------- (-Vast Empire-) Sergeant Thomas "Firefrog" Phennir

The Jesters speeded down from the heavens on their RDVs. Dropping with them were a platoon of Zelus troops, they'd be hanging around to provide the extra firepower.
Hashi took a quick glimpse northwards and saw a squadron of bombers releasing their payloads on the unfortunate citizens of Dayust. Building after building went up in smoke, the invasion was well under way.
A cluster of military offices loomed up ahead of them. Random flak from enemy ground troops lighted up the sky. Hashi bore down on his RDV, a gun in one hand firing away while the other steered the vehicle.
Touching down gently on his boots, Hashi quickly disembarked and went into a crouching position, bringing up his rifle in a blink of an eye. This was the first time he was faced with FIBUA combat.
His eyes scanned the target office building, then swiftly and silently, he advanced forward.

Merrick watched the destruction from afar, and sighed. She got up and wandered off to find Fury, a search that proved very easy as he had been standing very silently behind her for some time apparently. "Miss it Sergeant?" Merrick looked at Fury and shrugged. "Hard to say, at times I hated it, at times I couldn't get enough. Wounds heal but unfortunately dead men don't come back to life." Fury looked at her curiously. She laughed quietly. "Besides, now I got a cushy job and huge paycheck, why would I want to go back to destroying things and killing people with my bare hands?" She gave what could be loosely interpreted as a salute and left to wander around aimlessly while Fury remained and watched the bombers, and Jester squad, at work. At least it appeared that it was mostly the actual target buildings that were being destroyed. You never could be too sure with Dragoon. ----------------------- TRP/GSG Merrick/High Command Assistants/AAS-1/VEA/VE [CotE][SoA]

An odd sense of timelessness surrounded Hashi as he charged forward, weapon to his chest. The buildings around him seemed to have come from a different age of the galaxy. No doubt the planet would undergo extensive modernization when the Vast Empire takes over, eventually. That would happen after the Rybil government topples over
A red blaster bolt that zinged near Hashi's head snapped him back to reality, proving the weapons were still modern enough to burn a clean hole through your body, though compared to the advanced Imperial rifles the Jesters were armed with, were still absurbly obsolete.
Covering Hashi's flanks were Senior Sergeants Dragoon and Shadow. Bringing up the rear was the Selus platoon, who were sticking around only for morale support. Three Jesters were more than a match for the enemy. And they haven't even brought in the heavy stuff yet, the AT-PTs and Juggernaughts were still parked at base.
The other Jester fireteam, led by Firefrog and consisting of Tylen, Sokudo and Raiden, had quietly split away from the main assault group and headed southwards to target the intelligence offices in sector c2, another critical target.
Dragoon's fireteam, as planned, would raise as much hell as possible with the attack on the military offices and draw away the enemy while Firefrog and friends shift through intelligence files and related documents for any useful schtuff.
Both teams would then work their way north, causing plenty of chaos and destruction along the way, and move onto the next phase : tackling the presidential palace and assasinating a politician or two.

A brave Rybil trooper suddenly jumped out in front of Hashi, and fell back just as sudden with a quick blow to the jaw by a rifle butt. Hashi grunted and kicked the lifeless body away. He felt a tap on his shoulder and turned his head slightly. "Nice," piped Dragoon. "Get ready to do your thang."
Hashi nodded and reached his hand over his back to pat the big bad boy strapped to him. The Rybil troops had retreated to more secure positions in the buildings rather than risk facing Jester out in the streets. No problem, this was just going to make it more interesting.
The Jesters and the Selus soldiers had formed a perimeter around the three multi-storey buildings that housed the Rybril military offices. These buildings towered over the residential apartments surrounding them. Sporadic sniper fire from the windows was also getting on their nerves.
Hashi got into a crouching position and unslung the missile launcher. He balanced it neatly on his shoulder and with one hand, inserted a missile, nay, two missiles, into the dual weapon tubes of the launcher. He then nodded to Dragoon, who was still standing behind him. Dragoon's gloved hand pointed out the dark figure, all hunched up in a gillie suit, rifle barrel protuding out like a sore thumb, on the roof.
Hashi aimed carefully and awaited the order to fire, beads of sweat dripping down his forehead. "Take the bastard out." The next second, a brilliant white light flashed in front of his eyes as the missile burst from the tube, leaving a trail of smoke in its wake. The Selus troops ooo-ed and ahh-ed as the dumb missile hit its target dead on. The sniper was no more.
Lowering the barrel, Hashi chuckled. "Very pretty Hash," praised Dragoon approvingly. "Now the blast doors." Hashi brought up his weapon once more, this time zeroing on the front entrace. He pulled his finger back on the trigger and a split second later, kaboom went the doors.
Dragoon wasted no time in yelling "Storm the front!" Quickly slinging the missile launcher back over his shoulder, Hashi grabbed his rifle and charged with the rest of them.

Sokudo silent signed to Firefrog his intention as he broke away from the group and bleed into the shadows unnoticably.
The stealthy ninja-esque soldier quickly scaled the building wall with some newly acquired climbing gear, then silent snuck into one of the upper floor windows while the rest of his fire team snuck in the lower floors.
As soon as he was in the room he scanned it for any potential importance and saw a terminal that he might be able to slice with his datapad and find some useful information.
Sokudo started stalking quitely towards the terminal but then froze as he heard two voices out in the hall from the open door. He silent drew one of the shorter blades of his sword set and a small throwing knife. Then stalked towards the door. He quietly and swiftly ran across the hall to another dark room, but while running he threw the knife, and it struck true to the target... One of the guard's necks. The other guard thinking the area was completely secure was suprised, but quickly collected himself and scanned the area for the intruder....
The guard searched room by room, he finally unknowingly got to the room that the stealthy Jester soldier was in and reach for the light controls. Before his hand ever got to the controls a swift short blade took that hand from his arm. The guard was so shocked he didn't scream out... or maybe it was because his vocal cords were slash at the same instant from another blade. A few moments later he fell and died shortly after from loss of blood.
Sokudo hid the bodies then went back to the terminal to get what information he could. ----------------------- TRP/LCPL Sokudo/1SQD/2PLT/1COM/1BAT/1RGT/VEA/VE

Fury was listening to the varied squad channels through a comset he had dragged off the Skipray. Aside from Dragoon's profuse profane descriptions of their adversaries, the attack was going off like a textbook Imperial light raid.
He turned to his guests. They were high government officials and some corporate heads on the Selus and Manda side of things. "As you can see, the decapitation strike is going very well. We have held back from using our heavy weapons and the Selus troops are getting a first hand look at how an Imperial scout team can take out a government capital. Imagine what a full corps packing heavy armor would do?" He had already shown them footage of AT-ATs with one of the corporate heads looking very uncomfortable, as if he'd seen one before. Well, the precursors were available during the Clone Wars. Maybe one had found its way into the region via the trickle of commerce made in this direction.
The Manda ambassador spoke up first, "And what do you propose to do with this threat of violence? My kingdom has stayed out of this fight and do not wish to pick sides. We have chosen to be a fair and honest partner to this point."
"Indeed. And this is why the Selus contingent invited you here. Look, the rest of the galaxy is composed of planetary and various galactic leaning governments. Factional planetary rule is not just a thing of the past, its dangerous to the survival of a planetary citizenry. Its far too easy to beat your neighbor over the head with a stick, and it wastes too many resources. Wouldn't it be far better to combine your efforts, address your admittedly large problems, and come to an agreement on ruling your planet?"
"Isn't this rule at the point of a gun?" asked one of the corporate heads.
Fury waited a moment. "Only if you want it to be. You have a good planet here with all the elements to be a great place to live. But you are destroying the place with your constant warfare. The Empire, at least the chunk of it I work for, needs new worlds to venture into. You can assist us in doing that. We can assist you in rebuilding your world. Its a win-win for both sides, and for my company on the side of course.
"We could have conquered this place and slaughtered every sentient on this rock from orbit. That's not how we want to do things. We're coming in to help. That's going to upset a lot of you, especially those in power. I'd like your sign-off on this. But I don't need it." He got up and went to check on Merrick and if she had collected any valuable intelligence yet from the squad. ----------------------- PRF/GEN Fury/VEA/TADATH/VE [SCP][PoC][SotE:HC][SotE:VEA][IOC]

"It seems a large contingent of troops have set up a perimeter around our perimeter," Hashi said to Dragoon as he looked through his microbinoculars. "They're going to try and suffocate us in."
Dragoon grinned. "Gimme the megaphone and call in for the big guns, it's time to show off." Hashi nodded and began to call it in. Shadow simply stood there, looking bored.
Dragoon looked around for a good place to stand, he wanted to be in full view of all of the troops when this went down. After getting the confirmation from Hashi that the big guns would be set down in the middle of the improvised camp, Dragoon began his show.
"Alright you primitive screw-heads, listen up," he said into the megaphone. The sporadic fire stopped as his voice echoed through the streets. Taking aim at a nearby Rybil, Dragoon blasted the man in the chest. "See this? This is my boomstick! It's a 12-gauge double-barreled Remington. S-Mart's top of the line. You can find this in the sporting goods department. That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan; retails for about one hundred nine, ninety-five. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right, shop smart, shop S-Mart!" With that he unloaded a few more slugs into the surrounding troops.
Blaster fire began to flood his direction. Grinning, Dragoon leaped down just as the drop ships appeared overhead. "Alright, Shadow, you take one AT-PT, Hashi, you take the other. I'll take some of the primatives with me to pilot the juggernaught." Dragoon took a deep breath and lit a cigarette. "I love my job."
--------------------------------------------------------
"Come on man, cheer up!" Dragoon said from the pilot's seat of the juggernaught. True, the ship was a bit out-dated, but at the same time, it was far ahead of the technology of this planet. "We're having fun. Pick a building," he told the local who sat nervously in the co-pilot's seat.
The co-pilot gave a shy grin and pointed at one of the tall buildings to the right. Dragoon checked it with the map. "Well... it is a residential building, just an ordinary high-rise, but if it will loosen you up..." Dragoon steered the massive armored vehicle in the direction of the building. "Full speed ahead!!!" He shouted. "Ramming speed..."
"What the hell are you doing?" a voice came over the com, it sounded like Shadow.
"A key assassination, trust me," Dragoon replied as he winked at his co-pilot. "The president's dry cleaner lives here, and he may end up causing us trouble in the future."
The sound of concrete meeting armored vehicle echoed throughout the juggernaught as it ripped through the building. Rubble was falling all around as the building's foundation began to teter, and as the giant armored vehicle exited the area, the building collapsed entirely.
The co-pilot cheered, as did Dragoon as they turned toward's the Presidential Palace. Time to get some work done. ----------------------- SSGT Dragoon

Again when Merrick went look for Fury, he was already headed in her direction. "What's news sergeant?" Merrick laughed. "Not that you really need to ask, but Dragoon's taken the AT's and the juggernaut in, and is making a nice mess of the place. They're headed for the President's palace, so if you wanted any of that building left, you might wish to order him to slow down now. No news yet from Frog's team, they're being pretty quiet." Fury thought for a moment before going back to his 'guests' to see what they had decided. Merrick shrugged and sat back down, once more following Jester's movements and listening in for any useful information that any of them might find.

Frog shook his head as Sokudo slipped off into the shadows, it wasn't exactly unexpected, but at least with Raiden there he still had a team of three, and while Raid was a touch inexperienced, Tylen's "skills" should more then make up for it.
"Ok lads," Frog said, turning to the other pair with a grin, "No need to be too subtle about this, Dragoon will almost undoubtadly be more distracting then us."
Raiden fell into line with Tylen as Frog turned and headed for the main gates of the IntelHQ, the place had suddenly become very loud to the north, the sounds of blaster fire being exchanged and the occasional explosion.
Reaching the front gates, Frog hefted his new rifle, putting a quick blast through the lock mechanism, he swung the gates open and wandered in. The front gardens were neat and tidy, but seemed to be built as to be low maintenance, the front doors were large wooden things, and Frog clicked a frag grenade into the under-barrel launcher on his rifle, which took care of the doors with ease.
They were greeted in the lobby by several guards on the upper level, all covering the front door, Frog motioned for everyone to take cover, and fired off a few quick bursts before diving behind the bottom of one end of the staircase. He heard Raid land with a thump behind him, and the snap-hiss of Tylen's saber coming to life, as he headed to the other side of the room.
"When I say go, lean out and fire off a few shots," Frog said to Raid, as he shoved a new grenade in his rifle, who nodded in response.
Frog looked up and saw Tylen smile at him, before slipping through a side door. He motioned at Raid to start firing, and while he held the enemy's attention, Frog leaned out and launched the grenade at the center balcony. All of a sudden, one of the doors on the top floor, opposite the two Jesters, flew off its hinges and Tylen walked through causing panic in the ranks of the enemy, as well as dismemberments.
"Now's our chance," Frog said to Raiden, and motioned for him to follow his lead up the stairs. It was a simple matter to clear up the rest of the lobby, bringing down the remaining Rybril's on the second floor. They were discussing where to go next, when one of the doors began to creep open.
Frog motioned silence, and crept over to the door before kicking it open, and leveling his rifle on the dark form, now sprawled out on his ass on the floor.
"Oh good," said Sokudo, as he began to pick himself up off the floor, "I was hoping to find you lot, theres something very odd about this building..." ----------------------- (-Vast Empire-) Sergeant Thomas "Firefrog" Phennir

A few minutes later, the four Jesters were standing around the ornate statue standing at the top of one of the flights of stairs in the lobby.
"So what you're saying," Frog was saying to Sokudo, "is that there should be a room behind this statue?"
Sokudo nodded, "There's about a square metre of space behind it, and nothing leading into it, the walls on the other three sides are pretty solid, but this one is much thinner, and I'm detecting empty space on the other side."
"Well then," Frog said as he took a step back, "lets have a look-see what's on the other side."
With that, he raised a booted foot, and gave the statue a fierce kick. It bounced off the wall, and Frog sidestepped just before it went to ground where he was standing.
"So maybe the wall is stronger then we originally thought," Frog chuckled, and Tylen stepped forward with a smile, his saber cutting a roughly man-sized hole in the wall, revealing a primative cabled elevator.
Raiden peaked around the corner to look in, "This doesn't look very promising, we'll be hard pressed to fit two people at a time in there."
Frog nodded his approval, "Tylen, take Raid out front and get a comm linked up with base, tell them that we've most likely found their intel room, and if Fury wants to send in someone to take prisoner anyone Sokudo and I don't tear to shreds, he'd best send them now."
Tylen nodded sharply before hurrying off, trailing Raiden along with him. Frog and Sokudo looked blankly at each other, before squeezing in next to each other in the elevator. ----------------------- (-Vast Empire-) Sergeant Thomas "Firefrog" Phennir

The AT-PT made a whrring sound as it spurred forward, piloted by a happy Sergeant Hashi. Vehicle pilot wasn't exactly his military specialty, but he had a few rides round the base in an AT-PT during basic training, and he had enjoyed those. The light walker was a little machine of pure raw firepower, and was designed to devastate conventional ground forces.
And it was doing its job very well. Hashi simply jerked the joystick back and forth and pressed the red fire button, mowing down squad after squad of Rybil infantry with the twin blaster cannons as they dropped their rifles and fled in terror, screaming for their mothers. It was almost too easy.
Grinning, he flicked on the comm and radioed Shadow, "Now this is what I call a joy ride!"
He could hear Shadow chuckle in reply and a loud "Whoops!" soon after as Shadow's AT-PT accidentally gunned down a male civilian trying to escape the scene on a primitive two-wheeled mode of transportation called a bicycle.
Dragoon's voice came over the comm, "Enjoying the drive over to the palace boys? Take your time and set off some fireworks."
Hashi waved stupidly at rear of the big hulking Juggernaught some distance up the road from his walker, "Aye sir!"
He then chortled cheerfully as his finger exerted pressure on the secondary fire button of the joystick. A loud whooshing sound escaped from the chin of his AT-PT after a grenade ejected from the built-in concussion grenade launcher. The grenade crashed through an apartment window to his right and kaboom-ed, and Hashi continued his merry ride in Dayust. ----------------------- + Advance Recon Commandos {ARC} +

"Okay kids, meet me at the Presidential Palace," Dragoon said. "It's time to take out El Presidente."
He got a couple of affirmatives from his two squadmembers and he rolled that gargantuan beast towards the building designated for the leader of the Rybil. After a short, bumpy ride and a few run over men, he was there. "General Fury, we're outside one of our primary objectives. I'm sending in a small group of Zelus troops to take out the president and any of his people nearby."
"Okay Sergeant," the voice came back. "Enjoy your party."
"Sure thing, General," Dragoon replied as he sent in 2 squads of troops to secure the president.
"Hashi, Shadow," Dragoon said. "Go to the North and destroy the Executive and Judicial offices and kill anyone you see fleeing the area. Let's finish this up." He received his affirmatives before he tried to contact Firefrog. "Firefrog, what's your status?" ----------------------- SSGT Dragoon

Hashi and Shadow formed a firm base of fire with their walkers as a squad of Selus troops moved up and took positions along the street. They had come crashing in between two rows of office buildings, but could go no further beyond the third block. Seems the Rybril were reluctant to give up this sector of the city.
Hashi frowned at the stiff resistance. "Yo Shadow," he grunted. "Cover my ass, I'm going on foot." "Sure," was Shadow's terse reply. Grabbing his rifle, he flicked a button and the hatch of the at-pt opened. He leapt out and dashed for cover as blaster bolts immediately came to his direction.
Taking a moment to recover his breath, Hashi then waved over a Selus soldier with a baby-like face. "You, trooper. What's your name?" he asked briskly. "Ihsan sir. Private Ihsan."
Hashi nodded and patted Ihsan on the shoulder warmly. "Righto, mate. See that building over there? With those machine guns bristling out of the windows?" grinned Hashi. "According to my datapad that is where several important ministers have taken refuge. And we're gonna storm it. Just you and me, baby," he finished.
Ihsan's puffy cheeks turned a sickly green colour and his knees wobbled abit. But he tightened his jaw and nodded resolutely. "There's a good lad," smiled Hashi as he clipped off a couple of flashbangs from his belt and handed one over to Ihsan.
Ihsan started mumbling some strange prayers to his primitive gods for his safety. Meanwhile, Hashi raised his voice over the deafening exchange of gunfire, "Squad! Covering fire!"
The Selus soldiers started a new round of frenzied firing, forcing the Rybil to stay well away from any open doors and windows.
Hashi rapped Ihsan on the head sharply and motioned the young man to follow behind him. Breathing deeply, Hashi dashed across the street with Ihsan right on his heels. Midway, he screamed out, "Fire in the hole!!" and flung his flashbang into a blown-out doorway.
Charging through and yelling different forms of war cries, they encountered four stunned Rybil troopers, who reacted a second later but a second too late. A rapid burst of fire and they dropped to the floor like dummy sacks.
The two young soldiers wasted no time and ran through the building like crazed men, killing half a dozen more Rybil in close quater combat. Ihsan flicked off a shot to the forehead of the last enemy soldier like a pro. "That," he said slowly. "Was exhilarating."
Hashi grinned and stuck his hand out, and Ihsan took it. He shook it lightly and chuckled, "I like you, you primitive screw-head." ----------------------- + Advance Recon Commandos {ARC} +

Hashi grinned evily and teasingly tapped the jaw of his high ranking prisoner. He raised his hand and jammed his elbow into the man's nose again and again, ignoring the muffled whimpers and cries of his victim.
The man was strapped to a chair by a tight leather rope. He was old and balding, with wisps of grey hair on his head. The formal tuxedo he was wearing was tattered to pieces, and his face was badly cut and bruised.
Hashi had been using the man's face as a punching bag for the past half hour. Too bad Frog and his whip weren't around. He had no qualms about torturing the politician, after all, he was an Imperial Stormtrooper. Imperials do this kind of stuff.
Hashi had found the man hiding his sorry carcass in the basement of the building. "Sooo.. what's your name again mister?" he asked in a mock polite voice.
The prisoner cursed and snarled out angrily, "I am Doctor Zulkifi Saad, Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Rybil Federation." He paused under Hashi's piercing stare and continued hesitantly, "And I demand to be treated justly as a prisoner, I have my rights and..."
Hashi pretended to look thoughtful as the minister continued his rant. He pricked up his ears and nodded his head occasionaly. As the minister was just about finishing his pleas for fair treatment, Hashi spitted into his face.
Mr. Saad let out a loud whine."You insolent motherfu- arrg!!" screamed the minister as Hashi drew the blade of his vibroknife neatly across the old man's neck, silencing him for good. Hashi yawned and waved Ihsan over.
Ihsan hummed as he untied the dead body and dragged it over to a nearby store room. He kicked it open and dumped the former minister of foreign affairs along with the corpses of the Rybil secretary for defence, minister of education, minister of health, the mayor of Dayust and two janitors who got in the way.
Hashi let out a soft sigh and wandered off in search for a drink. All this interrogation had parched his throat. He wondered if there were any cantinas or bars around the city after all the bombing. He wondered how Firefrog and his fireteam were doing.

Fury had gone back to the assembled cast and had pretty much gotten them calmed down. Nearly all were signed on. The few that hadn't were promptly kicked out of the building and now faced dire future prospects.
"Alright gang, we've got good news. The diversionary team made the most of their task and now have the Dayust airport under control. I have also, through the magic of superior firepower, convinced a Rybil general that when he is the leader of his nation, which should be in a few hours, we will fly over to Dayust and have him, along with you, sign the planetary government treaty." Fury looked around. "I'll lead the way in my craft and take out any anti-air we may encounter. You'll follow with an escorted bomber as that seems all we readily have available. So, take the next few hours and get together with your speechwriters and government officials. We're about to make history here."
Fury got on his comlink and got Merrick up to speed on the goings-on, and to prepare some space in Dayust for a reception. ----------------------- PRF/GEN Fury/VEA/TADATH/VE [SCP][PoC][SotE:HC][SotE:VEA][IOC]

Shadow sat at the controls of the AT-PT walker and looked around for any sign of trouble. So far things had been happening without any kind of major hitch. Just a typical mission.
He fired off a few blaster shots at a group of men walking across the street. They scattered, running in every direction. Obviously they weren't soldiers.
"Oops," he said, grinning.
He had taken a long vacation from the Vast Empire Army, trying to clear his thoughts. But it hadn't done much good. Wherever he went, everything came back to killing. Shadow had given up on life a long time ago... his life, at least. Everyone else could do whatever they wanted to. But he was good at something - killing.
And he had decided that if he was going to have to live, he might as well spend his time fighting.
Besides, it would probably lead to a quicker death. The death he'd been searching for for... how long now?
"Too long," he muttered. Slamming his finger down on the comlink, he shouted to Hashi. "What's going on, Sergeant? I'm about ready to wrap this thing up."
Shadow sighed. Missions were better than doing nothing at all, but that didn't mean they were exciting. ----------------------- SSGT Shadow/Jester 4/Storm/Phoenix/Dragon/Osiris/VEA/VE [LM]
