Due to the lack of suscess with v2 i decided to make a v3 that acctualy uses things you see every day, ei the bathroom.
I am once again for warning that the prizes a very small this has the same prize as v2.
ok this weeks question-on a scale 1-10 1 being terrible, 10 the coolest thing you've ever seen, 5 something your completely nuetral too, wher do you rate books in gerneral.
i think v2s prize was 15 pairs of boxers and 2000 ICs for the best comback/remark/reason. ----------------------- TRP\PFC Sniping101\3sqd\1PLT\1COM\1BAT\1REG\VEA\VE [LoR]

Ever read a Tom Clancy book? "Rainbow 6" is good, as is "The hunt for the Red October." Or maybe try Michael Shaara's book "The Killer Angels." Now THAT is a d*** good book! -----------------------

Face it, the Shannarra books, every single one of them, sucked. The story was juvenile and contrived, and was a rip-off of every decent fantasy to come before it. Lord of the Rings is a gimme as far as great books go. Wheel of Time and the Sword of Truth... very good books. ----------------------- Krath Prophet(ess) Riel Fury

Lesse, LOTR, Wheel of Time, Deathstalker (nice little unknown series ), Hound of the Baskervilles (heck, all Sherlock Holmes is good), and Tom Clancy.
BTW, if you're gonna bother reading Tom Clancy, read Red Storm Rising man
Anyways, the mother of all classics and great books...

Damn Argon, I think we agree about Red Storm Rising. Without any conditions even. Are you as scared as I am?
Actually, being a history major way back when, I did a lot of the historical novels and alternate history on top of the average sci fi.
So I've loved a lot of the Harry Turtledove series, particularly the whole alternate US history storyline he's followed from the 1880s to the 1930s (occupied Utah and the Nazified Freedom Party of the Confederate States, anyone?).
Aside from that, I read science fiction of basically one shot wonder quality, but the one shots are damn good. I also am waiting for the next Daniel Keys Moran book...and waiting...and waiting.

Shoot. It occurs to me that I haven't read a novel in about a year...

Then may I recommend Michael Flynn's In the Country of the Blind? It was a fun, if not completely memorable read. I'll likely go back and read it again in a few years.
Wlater Mosley's Futureland was also a quite entertaining collective of short stories. Neither of these two books should take you more than a day or so to rip through. Grab your beverage of choice, a comfy chair and enjoy.

Yeah, I've been meaning to read Harry Turtledove... Anyways, if anyone needs suggestions, my first one (well, Dune is the first and foremost one, but the first obscure one) would be a book called "Grunts". It's an amusing story about Orcs, the role they play in the darkness's plans for absolute power (cannon fodder anyone?) and what happens when they find Marine weapons and recruitment videos It's pretty funny ----------------------- Argon Viper

Aaah, Hound of the Baskervilles. That's a classic.
I still say Killer Angeles was one of the best books written, or maybe The Dark is Rising. Something of a juvenille book, but still extremely well written. I recomend you all read Dark is Rising, then The Grey King, then finish with Silver on the Tree. There are 2 other book in the series, but they're not quite as good, nor overly crucial to the saga. -----------------------
