In America (I can't say if this holds true for other nations) we have entire channels devoted to women. Why don't men have a channel? I'll tell you why. because if men did, we'd have the feminist people after us because we're not making it "equal" in the world. Holy crap, i already have to put up with girls in men's sports, Why do i have to put up with no channel for "me" either? -----------------------

For that matter, what is the deal with BET, the "Black Entertainment Channel". There are the "Sloul Awards" for just blacks, and most other minoriteis have their own things. If there was a white only entertainment channel, or a white awards show, they would be sued for racism. -----------------------

Here's what I say: STOP THE SEGREGATION!
If these people want truely equal rights then they shouldn't get thier own channels or thier own awards shows. Admitidly there are still a lot of people even if they don't realize it are biased against minorities.
I'm all for equal rights, but they have to be equal. -----------------------

I'm sorta curious about what a channel for men would have in it, but aside from that, I really don't care one way or another. It's not like this is some kind of government mandate that women should have their own channels, or that blacks (I have not and will not use the phrase African American for reasons that arent important here) should. These are run by private companies that are going after a specific audience. Supply meets demand. If there were a real demand for a white anglo saxon protestant male station we'd eventually get one. THEN we'd get to see the wonderful political debates. -----------------------

Porn channels?
Anyway i also agree that they really need to think about what "equal rights" means, i mean i can understand radio stations for foreign music and foreign film channels, but the other stuff really isnt about equal rights etc.

It can - and has - been seriously argued that all country music inherently falls into a White-only entertainment medium. I'm not so sure that applies now, but I bet there are still more whites watching BET than non-whites watching CMT, and I'd go as far as to say by percentage of each group.
And I know a lot of women who say that most movies and television programming is geared for men than for women. A female friend of mine pointed out "The King of Queens" just the other day: hot wife, tubby a$$ husband. Eye candy for us, the occasional joke for the ladies.
Hell, TBS used to have John Wayne movie marathons. The worse we get is the yearly showing of Burning Bed or some Bette Midler crap.
I'm not so sure men in general have anything to complain about. As for racial preferencial treatment, it is easy to say it's propagating segregation but try travelling around the world some. You just can't wait for an English language channel sometimes, just to hear your own tongue, dialect, slang, and familiar topics of conversation. Hell, I get hooked on CNN every time I go out of the US for an extended period of time.
And here at home, sometimes I just have to turn on Univision and listen to a soccer match or watch a telenovela just to remember that this country is more than the same standard white faces I live around here in Oklahoma. This doesn't make it a bad thing, but variation is what this country is about right?
If you can't get it from the sources that should be providing it, by all means, create some and throw it on cable.

I'm with Fury, most of the stuff on normal TV and radio is geared toward us dorky white males anyways  However, I've noticed the extra stuff others got, and I was pretty PO'd until I realized that everything else was ours

There are more whites then minorities on TV because there are more whites then blacks in America. As for most TV being geared towards men, what do you call the day-time soap operas and Talk shows? -----------------------

The racial thing is a bit touchy for me, I think I'm offended by the fact that a black/hispanic/asian/anything-but-white guy with the same grades, intellect, work ethic, social status, money, everything-else as me can get more cash for college than I can. What happens if I say anything though? I get labeled a bigot.

JMac...talk shows and soap operas are a sexist bone thrown towards the stay-at-home housewife. Women might argue against them even more than you...those who aren't watching them anyway.
As for the stay-at-home dad, baseball has been very adaptable at providing the afternoon game, and there is always golf or fishing on somewhere.
Besides, at all hours of the day you can catch sports, news, and cartoons. Really, what else do you need? -----------------------

Here in bonnie Scotland, the Scottish Executive (State Government) had the wisdom of spending £5million asking every school student in the country what colour they are.
Why? I can honestly say I have no idea. Although I signed it (not wanting to make an un-needy fuss), I really do not know how being black, white, grey, yellow or blue is going to give me differant "educational needs". I would far prefer that teachers keep their eyes shut in future when teaching me, so as to not be racially biased.
