I saw this news about an hour ago, and I still can't wrap my head around it. He's doing Trek and Wars? Don't get me wrong, I think he's a great director, but there is still another Star Trek film to come after Into Darkness (which is the film I am most excited about this year!). He's going to be plenty busy, and hopping from one to the other is going to be a big challenge. However, if anyone can do this, J.J. can! Good news indeed I say! DAMNIT!
I was hoping for Whedon, Abrams struggles with anything much deeper than explosions. I would hurl words into this darkness and wait for an echo, and if an echo sounded, no matter how faintly, I would send other words to tell, to march, to fight, to create a sense of hunger for life that gnaws in us all.

I'll take Abrams over Jackson. LotR sucked were awesome when they were just books, I was amazed the movies could be worse almost as good.
