Ok, folks!  We're 5 days into the new evaluation period for this month's MVP-style awards!

I'll have an announcement ASAP for this past month's winners (May), but June is anybody's game.  Let's get back into the swing of things, everyone!

Ok, folks.  The NHC has talked it over, and we're agreed:

Captain's Own will not be awarded for the month of May.  Both squadrons took some time off after Counterpunch, which is just fine, but neither has really bounced back yet.  Jexxel, Strill: June is anybody's game.  Let's get back to activity!

Admiral's Own is another award that's fallen prey to this month's general lull.  While Serpent's been dutifully plugging away at personal tales and even posting a bit to Heart of the Second, it isn't quite enough to merit another instance of the [AO].  Hopefully this month I can jump into writing posts again, and some other Fleet Command people can return to activity, giving Serpent some real competition. 

I'm proud (and a little embarrased) to say that Imperial Guardian this month is me.  Seems weird to say, since I've been on leave this past week, but the 3 weeks I had of hyperactivity around the end of Counterpunch: Death and right afterward seems to have aligned with a general slump in activity for the division, meaning I can finally add [IG] to my ID line.  Feels great to be able to do so, but I'll reiterate: I like it better when it's so busy around here that even with my spurts of superhuman activity, there are other VEN members more worthy of this award!

I'd like to also point out that Fishhead (TosthAaaiser) gets a big honorable mention for the month of May.  Fishhead, your initiative in taking over the Naval Timeline project on the wiki has not gone unnoticed, and if you keep pushing that idea further, there's no reason [IG] can't be yours this coming month.  Although I'm sure Gurlanin'll be pushing his Naval History wiki project, too. 

Ok, folks.  It's been a bit of a break, this month.  Let's get back into it!

And with the timeline... I felt it should just be finished. And I got it done. Not much else. Shinies are nice and all, but not needed...

I'm back now. Have power again and the storms are finally done for a while... Hopefully. Have a HotSF post almost done.

The way I always understood it - the IG award (for the individual) is carried by the one having earned it for the duration of said month. Although he/she can keep it in his/hers ID line after the fact, IC there would be a tiny difference between the current IG holder and a former IG holder. As the award states (or at least stated at some point) the current holder would have the whole medal to show off, as opposed to a previous holder who would only have a ribbon reminding him of the prized shiny...

As far as CO/AO are concerned, the two awards aren't handed over to individuals but rather to units and as such it is the affiliation to that unit that allows one to enjoy said citation. Simple example: Suppose Strill wins CO in August and Jexxel wins it in September. Strill pilots would be able to show off their shiny plaque handed down to them by Trykon in some small (or not so small) ceremony... or maybe no ceremony at all. If one of their current pilots transferred out however then he/she would no longer be able to partake in that privilege however. Likewise, if some rookie just graduated from the Academy and got assigned to Strill then he/she would be able to enjoy the CO as well, as he/she would now be part of that unit - even if he/she would not have actually helped gain that award... at least not that time around!

Once September arrives however and Jexxel manages to steal the award from Strill, the latter pilots would technically no longer be able to show off their shiny as it would no longer really be in their possession. Then again ID lines would likely not all suddenly be updated to reflect as much so some measure of confusion may remain present... Given the amount of members we have available I'd personally not stress out who's currently having what award, but rather who's managed to get said award the most number of times

June has ended, and that means it's time for another round of Unit Citations.

For his continuing work on the Naval Timeline Project, the Imperial Guardian for the past month is recognized to be TosthAaaiser, a.k.a. Fishhead!

This month was again close between our two main Fleet Command contenders for the Admiral's Own award, but at long last, the Adjudicator has eked out a victory over the Brilliant.

Unfortunately, the starfighter corps was eerily quiet again this month.  Despite a surge of last-minute posting in the past 24 horus (which will count towards the evaluation period for July, which technically starts now), there wasn't much activity this past month from Jexxel or Strill.  As a consequence, for June the citation for Captain's Own again goes unrewarded.  Step it up, squadrons... with a Chapter running, I have a feeling the competition for this one is going to heat up a lot in July.

Big congrats to Fishhead and the Adjudicator!  Well deserved!

Yay Fishhead! You deserve that for being so awesome with that project
