Some possibilities:

Taltos writes as an NPC.

Taltos writes as a pilot from a ship in Second Fleet, who's forced to crash-land on Gwodd LK nale, where he does feats that catch Strill's attention.

Taltos, though serving in Strill OOC, writes IC as a pilot in another squadron, for the remaining few days of the story.

If you're up for it, I could write you in with Chlovi for the remainder of the battle. I can make a quick edit to my latest post to reflect that, and then get in touch and see where to go from there. It'd be nice having another writer to collaborate with.

Heehee. I may also add, T, that Death is on the brink of being the most posted story of all time in the Navy history, so we're scrambling to beat that number. We've got to beat 156 and so far we are at 147. Not only do we get the satisfaction of having the highest post count in this story, Tryk has also alluded to potential prizes... of which Strill may earn something special...

So on that note, I am also going to be posting. We also have a Google doc which we call the "Strill Collab Doc" that I will send you. It's not a requirement to use it at all, but it does make it easy for live collaboration if you ever want to try it. Joamer and I have a tendency to write together since we can usually find the time to. But once again, it's not a requirement.

I think it might work if I come in as a green recruit, pulled from academy to replenish the starfighter contingent on the Adjudicator. During the final battle I'll end up in an improvised wing with your pilots currently performing ground attack, and later be offered the Iron 4 position in Strill after the battle.

Side discussion: What's the policy as far as canonicity of Imperial Center Store items (obvious joke items aside)? In particular the Eta-5 Interceptor.

Canon-wise, it's introduced in 40ABY, well past our timeframe, and used by the New Republic. If we disregard that and take it as canon in the VE timeline - or rename it to the Eta-4 Interceptor and avoid the issue - then T could make a very good IC argument as to why it might be perfectly suited to Strill Squadron's mission profile, and an ideal choice of future upgrade!

The canonicity of Imperial Center Store purchases is not a fixed thing, but rather varies depending mostly on the activity, contributions, and standing of the member in question.  For now, it's best to leave ICS purchases as a sort of separate, personal canon, and leave them out of official unit stories, until you get a better grasp of the taboos/traditions around that sort of thing.  In time, you can start integrating your (largely OOC) possessions with your (largely IC) life as a character.

That particular craft (Eta-5), as you note, is outside our current timeframe, so it likely won't make it into official club stories of this era, no matter what your eventual rank/position... I will say this, though: Chapter 9 is coming, and there are plenty of craft, familiar and new, that may be making appearances.    My hinting isn't particularly subtle, so I'll just say it: if we break this record, I can afford to be more generous at rewards time to match.  That includes the usual OOC awards, like medals, ribbons, promotions, and shinies of all kinds (including new ones, and in greater numbers than usual), but it also can include IC rewards, like new craft and equipment.  It's a sort of a help-me-to-help-you situation. 

Muahahaha. I like the hinting. Good canon policy too.

It's just a short one, but I hope it'll do the job of introducing Taltos to the world and setting the stage for his arrival in Strill Squadron. Let me know if anything needs changing.

Heehee but in all seriousness, Tryk's advice is spot on. Also, within the VE we are totally ok with writing NPC's and other people's characters. Of course if you do write another person's character, always make sure you have permission so that they don't end up getting misused.
