This thread is reserved for discussion between midshipmen (trainees going through the Ship Captain Training Program) and their training officers.

Ship captains (SCAPs) are the lifeblood of Fleet Command.  Roughly analogous to Squadron Commanding Officers (SCOs) in the Starfighter Corps, SCAPs are OOC club leaders, responsible for generating quality stories IC that will be incorporated into club canon.  SCAPs have much more power within the club than flight members or junior officers, and therefore much more responsibility - hopefuls for the position have to prove themselves worthy to wield that power, and capable of honoring that responsibility.

Now, in some ways, SCAPs have more flexibility than SCOs in terms of when and how often they post, and they certainly aren't required to post more often than other members of the Navy.  But guess what, midshipmen: you aren't SCAPs yet.  The SCTP is designed to test your suitability for command, and so you will be tested.  You have to convince your training officer (and the NHC) that you're capable of posting high-quality, lengthy stories with some consistency and frequency if you want a ship of your own.  Because if you simply can't do that, ever, then you're not right for the SCAP position.

Aw darnit. I could have used that template. Also, you didn't have to flesh out the wiki page yet (it only had to be Basic), but hey, I think you have to do it eventually, so why not get it out of the way now!

Serpent:
Nice initiative, on the wiki page template.  It looks good.  As far as whether you'll get to use these NPCs: yes!  That's the whole idea: the NPCs you make during the program will serve as your bridge crew/command staff when you're granted your own command.  Eventually, you may have PCs of other club members stationed on your ship(s), but starting out, your crew will mostly be NPCs.

Echelon:
Looks good.  And yes, the NPCs all need to have detailed wiki pages by the end of the Program.  If you prefer to do "Advanced Level" pages for each one, as you create them, then you won't have as much work to do later. 

A note: The SCTP is essentially in version 1.0 right now.  It was in Beta when my predecessor Slasher rolled it out, and I went through it.  By the time you guys graduate from the program (which I'm confident you will), I'd like to update it to version 2.0, so that the questions you're asking now have answers on the wiki pages for the program itself.  If you see ways of doing that while you're doing the program - ways to clarify the copy, or things to add to the pages - please let me know.

Also, scattered throughout the Navy Story Board, there are examples of how I approached the exercises of the SCTP.  Not that I'm the best example, mind you; it's just that I'm the only example, so far, of someone who's completed the SCTP.

One other thing: Ellesmere, you're on notice.  We've kept you on the roster as a midshipman for far too long.  Start doing the work assigned in the program now, in earnest, or I'm afraid I have to cycle you out.

Separate stories, but no naming conventions before your SCFE.

First week, you're required to post to your regular story AND you're required to start a new story, featuring your new NPCs (and, it shouldn't START with a training cruise.  Rather, it should be your PC and your NPCs, BEFORE they get assigned to your Warden-class ship for a training voyage).  For you, Serpent, your "regular story" is whatever you're doing as XO of the Halcyon Warrior (right now, that's The Blockade).  The idea is to prove you can post to multiple different stories, concurrently.

I decided that he would be really quite annoyed to be posted to such a small ship, a way of introducing some more tension to crew interaction!

Do me a favor, midshipmen, and post once to this thread with links back to all wiki work and posts you've completed so far.  It'll make clearance for the SCFE come much faster! 

Echelon, a couple minor corrections for you:

1.) Abrae doesn't have "many factories," civilian or otherwise.  It's Navy HQ on Cap station in orbit, and the old HQ complex on the surface, housing VENI in "The Tower" and VENA in "The Fortress," and not much else.  I like Elbatt Andia otherwise, and he could even be "from" Abrae, if you really want, but his dad's background needs to be changed slightly.  I'd suggest Tadath or Cepany or Lotaith for his workplace.

2.) Libnor's backstory needs a little refinement.  Deserting the New Republic because they have a high crime rate is a little extreme, and it doesn't make a lot of psychological sense, when the VE then imprisons him, and he still joins them when he's released from jail.  Clean up the reasons he joins.  I like him as a character, and you can use him, but the vast majority of Mon Cals don't like Imperial factions; justify why he's in the VE.

Other than that, you're clear to begin the SCFE.  Congratulations!
