For a small number of reasons which I will not go into here, I am leaving the Vast Empire. Permanently. I may be on IRC from time to time when I get bored, but you won't see me much. I would say something profound, but let me just say this: it's been an experience I will remember for a long time. Kill me how you will in the Army and DJO runon stories, I won't be back as a member. I will take this thought away with me: "Arrogant, self-centred, self-important, yes he's a manager, no he's not a person." ------------------------------------- Fish

Oh come on Fish, I still don't see the parrallels to the IW that you do, this place isn't dying(or at least, my small corner of it isn't...).  Believe me, I've gone through three dying clubs, this isn't one of them.  Anyways, I can't see any other reason for you to leave, but if you feel you must, I wish you luck in whatever you choose to do. ::salute:: [To determine the significance of that last line, please consider that I never salute anyone without untouched respect for them.]   ----------------------- Argon Viper IW COL Argon Viper{ret} "History is on the move, those who cannot keep up will watch from a distance, and those who get in our way will not watch at all" - Grand Admiral Thrawn "How boring life would be if everyone felt the same way we do..." - Argon Viper "Condemnation does not liberate, it oppresses" - Carl G Jung

Well, I got your email earlier today and it came as quite an unwelcome surprise.  In a lot of ways I think I will never know what  made you resign.  You didn't give a lot of info on that subject, and I respect that discretion.  I do regret that you feel the need to cut your losses (whatever they might be) and go your own way. For what it's worth; it was good serving with you.  I saw a lot of promise in your character and in you, and stepped on a couple toes to make that known.  I don't regret that decision one iota. Take care Fish.

You were a good soldier Fish. I just wish I could've seen you climb up higher in the ranks. You were a good apprentice too.  May your path in life be a challenging and prosperous one.

Fish, I really don't  know what to say except good luck in your life, and whatever you do. Like the rest, I don't understand why you are leaving. I am sure you feel what you are doing is right though. Therefore, I fully respect your decision to leave. Good luck Fish!

Farewell, Stonefish. I, too, will admit that I never got to know you that well, but I've heard nothing but good things about you. And I, also, have enjoyed reading your story posts over the past several months. It's always sad to see someone leaving the Vast Empire, but I wish you the best of luck in everything life throws at you from here until the end of your time. May the Force be with you, Fish.

I declared the Fallen Angels dead a long time ago because no one was doing anything, myself included at many points.  My only regreat is that in doing so I may have caused a great force that could drive us to greater deeds was crushed before it could start. Now that Ramon Stonefish has decided to leave the Vast Empire I will say this. We can either let this be a sign of things to come or we can start doing things again.  We sit back and take things that are a detriment to activity way too easily.  It has been a long time since there has been any fighting spirit in the VE.  Our other alternative is a far more pleasent one. We can gather our strength and continue on.  We have the skill, talent, and most of us even have the time to make the Vast Empire a worthwhile endevour. While it is true we must all eventually retire I for one am not ready to do so. Who's with me?

Me.  That's what I've been trying to do with the Dread Knights, creating runons, getting Tycho started on his SC tourney, pranking other squads    A busy squad is an active squad, and(as we've seen), I have no hesitation about getting rid of inactive members.  Go Kuroishi!!

Count me in. I guess I'm a little young to be retiring I wanna rise up a couple more ranks and join the djo. See ya fish, you've been a good soldier, even if I've never seen you in action Oh and Kuroishi, you made your speech sound like a funeral preach, just my two cents

Well it is always a somber and solem ocasion when a Fallen Angel leaves us. The Fallen Angels may have lost thier fighting spirit a long time ago but we still had fun and made a name for ourselves for a while that could be respected.  To me that is a part of my past I will always treasure, because we had fun and we didn't worry about much of anything else. Being a Fallen Angel is something that should be remembered, as we were making a legacy for ourselves that would last longer then our careers.  Obviously we lost some of our luster when we let our activity slide. If we actually wanted the title of Elite Squad we could have had it. Many of the Fallen Angels have been saying how the Vast Empire is mirroring the last days of the intruder Wing.  For that to happen we'd need Giest as Operations Officer, myself his adjutant, only the army being active, and Geist's "I'll destroy this org fictionally if you keep sitting around and doing nothing" campaigns. Though I think the Vast Empire can avoid the fate of the Intruder Wing because there are more people in the Vast Empire that actually care about the Vast Empire.  With a little showing of consistant activity we can make this place seem alive and prove Ramon Stonefish, myself, Giest, and Viper wrong.

Troops, think what you want, but VE is not in any major trouble. Your a fine group of troopers, pilots, jedi and politicans (<- use that terms loosly). Stone was a good trooper, but hes not the base of the Vast Empire. Because he left that doesnt mean that this club is falling apart. No, far from it. Get your morals up there for those people who think there is a problem. Stonefish was a good member and yes he will be respected, but the VE will live. It is well known and respected throughout the galaxy. LONG LIVE THE VAST EMPIRE. To - if I am sidelining my point just delete this post. To Stonefish - We'll miss ya Stone, have fun in life. Wish I could with my health.

Thanks for the post Matok.  Your post is fine in my book, as this touching thread has already been taken over for political means anyway. You know, I was going to avoid this subject, especially since the whole thread is about honoring Fish's decision to leave. I posted something last night, cleaned it out this morning, and it was deleted a while ago. However, here we go again. Look, things are slow right now.  People are finishing school, work is hectic for a lot of people.  It's called REAL LIFE. For you to come in here and insult everyone who comes to this organization without any baggage, regardless of what other groups they may have been in, is inexcusable. I really don't care about the Fallen Angels or the supposed value of Varneck Combat Pajamas.  I figure when you walk through the doors of this club, all else is in the past.  Quit bludgeoning us over the head with history we don't know and information we don't need.  Develop your characters and give them a backstory, but don't let it override the concept that you are a member of this organization first and above all.  Whatever you do outside of the VE is not our concern.  That concept works both ways. This is the Vast Empire.  You got a problem with me or Talon or anyone else here, keep it personal.  Don't rip on the whole club because we are doing our own thing here in a more or less strictly Imperial role.  That is what this club is here for.  Anything else is frivolous. You want activity?  We are working on it.  But while we are, quit trying to undermine those efforts.  There is a line between contribution and disruption and it has been crossed more than once lately. Fish left because he was caught between a rock and a hard place.  I can respect that decision because it dealt with real, honest emotions and a situation he didn't feel ready to expend his energy on.  One day each of us will do something along the same lines. In the meantime, I'm glad you want to help.  Just don't try to remake something that is dead and that only a minority of the group even wants to see.  Last I checked, we were still the same group I joined up with a couple years ago.  I'd like to help keep things that way.   ----------------------- XO/LTC Fury/VEA/TADATH/VE [PoC][SotE:HC][SotE:VEA][IOC] Company Commander Shopkeeper - Imperial Center

I see now that a lot of the things I have been trying to offer up as support are being taken as insults.  I try to help and it only infuriates others.  Perhaps Fury is right, I have been a little too zealous about my support and haven't even stopped to think about what I have posted, but perhaps I am not trying to turn this into something political. In short I offer up an apology to those who feel insulted by my efforts to try and raise moral and activity. Though I see it as the duty of every member of the Vast Empire to attempt to do the same whenever possible, not just the commanders or the leaders. After all we would be nothing without the average squad member or average flight member. I've been trying to illustrate the point that things shouldn't be taken so seriously but the main example at my disposal were the now most definatly dead Fallen Angels. I have been a supporter of the Vast Empire since before there were the Fallen Angels.  If that is not something worth mentioning at this time I don't know what is. I don't know if I'm justified or not.  All that matters to me at this point is that those of us in the squads and flights try and make things a little easier for our commanders by coming up with our own ideas and implementing them.  They do work hard to make sure we have these wonderfull campaigns to take part in but once the campaigns are over everything returns to the humdrum of everyday boredom(sorry if I'm getting out of line again but I felt a little insulted myself by Fury). There are my two cents worth.

Fury, stop being insulted by the mere mention of the Fallen Angels, the fact is that they were a great organization, and we refer back to them as an example of what we enjoyed and how things like that can fall. The simple fact of the matter is that we have been in a dying club, we have watched it slowly lose members and dissintegrate. In fact, before I joined the IW and the Fallen Angels, I was a part of the Hand of Sith:Secret Order and, when that died, the Dark Lightning Strike Fleet.  I've had more experience with dying clubs than anyone. What does this mean?  Does this mean that we want it to happen to the VE?  No.  Does it mean we enjoyed it when it happened to the IW?  No. What it does mean is that we know the symptoms, and that Fish, a respected member of our little group, has seen them.  I, personally, take what he says seriously. In that spirit, I would like to refute his claim, while certain individuals(no names...) may be a little inactive, I've had a great response from the many that I've talked to. This club is far stronger than the IW was, and I think that, with the great leaders we see here today, we can keep going for many years to come. HOS:SO, DLSF, IW, and VE.  The four points of my experience.
