Greetings,
the Title said it all really, I'm new to Vast empire. I've now got my feet wet with this post. I have exp as an rpger and gamer more than a wordsmith. However I do like anything to do with flying and covert stuff.
What peeked my interest was the navel intelligence group. So I hope to get assigned to that after boot eventually.
I do hope to get some gaming in here from time to time (i have most of the games on the VE supported list. I will take on all challengers, I also love D6 and D20 RP.
i'm not sure what else to say right now except to say i'm looking forward to learning from and working with you all.

Welcome to the Vast Empire Naval Academy, Crewman Primarch. My name is Warrant Officer 2nd Class Wyl Trykon, and I'll be your Training Officer (TO) while you go through the Academy's Orientation program. I'll be around to help get you acclimated to life in the Vast Empire (a process we call, "Basic Training"), the most important part of which is learning how to role-play as an Imperial starfighter pilot in an ongoing, collaboratively-written story (a set of skills which is taught in something we call, "Flight School"). I see you have some rp-ing experience, but not necessarily a lot of writing experience; I'm looking forward to seeing what you can do. As far as your Navy career after graduation, there are plenty of options, but for right now, let's focus on Flight School and Basic. With your first post here on the Naval Academy board, you've completed Imperial Initiation (well done) and are hereby clear to begin Flight School, which will prepare you for daily life as a pilot in a VE squadron. Your next step should be to visit the VE Wiki page for Flight School, found here, and begin working on Chapter 1: Character Development by clicking the appropriate link. When you finish the assignment, post your work here (bio and ID line), so I can review it, and we'll proceed from there. Please note: here in the VE, we write stories in the third person, past tense; you should too. Hi,
As talked about on irc i'm going to post a working draft of the persona i'll be adapting and using here.
All feedback is welcome:
The Man stood naked in the small dimly lit room; his hands were in binders behind his back. Ahead of him sitting at a large desk sat two men, one was large with brutal features that made rancour seem placid and serene by comparison. The other man was also tall but slender, he had a well schooled sense of calm about him. On the desk lay a small data pad with a small glow lamp providing the only light in the room. The large man stood up after looking at the data pad in front of him and barked; “Alright we will do this by the numbers, you better start answering my questions if you want to continue breathing.”
“Our records show you were intercepted on the fringes of Rebel squadron space by one of our recon patrols, we are very interested to know what you were doing there.” If this was an attempt to unnerve the man it was not working he remained passive but at the same taking in every detail of the room. Seeing that his target was unphased by the amateurish bully boy tactics, the larger mans vain pulsed in his neck and he moved right in front of the man in an effort to intimidate him.
“Do you have a name other than filth? If so tell us now!”
The man stirred as if finally noticing the others presence for the first time, “my name is Ceradan Jade and if you amateurs really want to interrogate me stop using the interrogation manual.” In response to this the large man inches in front of Ceradan looked like he was going to implode with anger, not the best trait in an interrogator Ceradan mused. The large man struck Ceradan jade with a short jab to the face. “Enough” boomed the tall slender man at the desk, “step out side agent” But, sir, no buts out now”!
The larger man left the room and the tall slender man spoke to Ceradan.
[22:11] “First let me apologise for my college he has a habit of losing perspective and he’s still new at this. He was right on the main points how ever, we are interested in what you were doing at the edges of our space in an A9 interceptor and more to the point why you let yourself be detected?”
“Maybe I was sight seeing it’s a big galaxy you know, or maybe I needed a change of scenery. Its clear you are intelligence agents so lets dispense with the formalities shall we? As I told your impatient friend there my name is ceradan Jade, why I’m here in the manor I’m here should tell even you people I’m not here for the tour of your holding cells.”
“Do you wish to defect then?”
“That would imply I’m on a side which I’m currently not, I may have been at one time but after Endor there was little point in working for a side that has lost all sense of direction. But if you must file me under something, yes I wish to defect.”
“I see, well that being the case I’m going to have to profile you before we can decide on the mater. You can start by going over your background for us and we’ll go from there.”
[22:11] “You want my life story eh? Well I’ve been a citizen of this great cosmos for thirty years; I was born and raised on the imperial world of Carida. I know what your thinking but my family were not staunchly imperial, despite it being home to the elite storm trooper training academy.”

This file should be considered a work in progress as Ceradan seems to make a point of not divulging information about himself. In fact when pressed on things he considers personal he politely warns people (with more than a hint of menace.)

Growing up Ceradan had the standard imperial education, all seemed well , up until his father went missing on assignment when Ceradan was twelve. Shortly before his father went missing he was reassigned to another section and we were told his unit ran in to some smugglers, there was a fire fight and all contact was lost. This Event was the start of His service pre vast empire .
At 18 Ceradan entered the imperial naval academy leaving home behind. Training was uneventful aside from the constant tension about the rebellion. Ceradan showed early promise and had his initial posting on the grey wolf. At that time it was still involved in pacifying the outer rim. Life aboard ship was typical for imperial ships. (Although summary executions were rarer.) perhaps that had something to do with vice Admiral Thrawn. Being that the Gray wolf was his flagship.
Ceradan learnt much about strategy and tactics from his time aboard, far more than the academy. His typical duty’s aside from killing scum were typically bar cap, recon and the occasional strike mission in tie fighters, gun boats and interceptors. The ship had some odd assignments but ceradan was never directly involved in any of the major engagements.
Ceradan spent six months on the grey wolf before being transferred to another sector. This assignment would keep him well clear of the yavin and endor engagements. After the death of the Emperor his orders got more erratic with the political infighting, Ceradan found himself disillusioned he craved the order that was now under threat.
His last assignment for the remnant went sower and Ceradan desided to part company. Though contacts he found out about the vast empire fleet and decided to put out feelers. He joined the VE to remain true to the ideals he has fought so long for. That and he did not want his skills to go to waste.

I'm noticing a coding issue for a table which you've tried to create, might want to have a closer look at it and fix it. And as your training comes along, don't forget to add in your service history tables so that we (and you obviously) can keep track of your service history in terms of promotions, medals, stories written, etc but for now it looks like a good start! Flight school chapter 3 Sample report
Activity:
This week I completed flight school chapter 2, by posting in raptor Squadron's overwhelming odds training simulation.
Upcoming plans:
depending on where I am Placed I intend to further develop my characters back story. I also want to spend time acclimatising to my new unit in a non-combat environment. That is not a lot to say at the moment since I am still completing boot.
questions/Suggestions:
The only question I have a moment is regarding what happens next. As you may or may not be aware I joined the vast Empire to serve in a specific capacity within the Navy.
