I'll pay a mil ic's to every person who answers every question.
Or you can just love me XD Thank you!

I'm busy with a design project, and I want to get some thought on you guys. I need to redesign a logo for a heart foundation branch, anyase to question one.

1.Do you care about the risk of obesity and how it affects your heart?

2. Do you have a currently acceptable lifestyle?

3.If someone says 'heart' what do you see?

Some of the issues currently are appealing to teenagers about their lifestyle and obesity risks.

4.1 Do you as a teenage or young adult take more notice when an organization or adults try and 'communicate' through more trendy design and using more slang?

4.2 What would appeal to you if someone made a presentation about the risk of heart disease?

4.3 What would be really lame?

5. How much information do you want to hear if someone pitched a presentation of the risk of heart failure?

Take a look at this website.

http://www.heartcore.co.za/

6.1 What do you like and why?

6.2 What do you dislike and why?

6.3 Do you feel overwhelmed by all the information?

That’s all guys ? Please try and answer everything as thorough as possible.

1. Yes because it leads to a higher risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, etc and if one of these conditions runs in your family you are at higher risk (I'm at risk for Type 2 diabetes because my mother is a type 2 diabetic for example)

2. Yes I do! I curled once a week for two hours (the season ended as of the past Friday) and I paddle as well as compete nationally in the physically disabled division, paddling takes place in 1 1/2 hour sessions and I practice it twice a week, so that's 3 hours right there. On top of that I'm training for the Redemption 5K run on June 4th

3. I see an image of the hear muscle, in a healthy state; I try to picture the organ as best as I can conjure up the thought ( some stuff people take for granted in terms of what they can see on a daily basis, hat kind of stuff I miss out on)

4.1 depends on the way they are 'communicating' if an older adult was to use slang to communicate something I most likely wouldn't pay as much attention because I'd find i more awkward than anything else, if it was communicated through a design aspect however I'd be more likely to pay more attention

4.2 The thing hat would appeal to me the most, aside from possibly interesting content would be the way it is presented as well as any incentive to get involved

4.3 In my opinion what would be really lame is if an older adult or organization were to make a presentation which would seem poorly presented. For example if they constantly used slang, or if any examples used aren't valid or a better choice could have been made. Something hat is presented to s should be done in a professional way after all.

5. I would want to hear just enough about the risks and what could be done to lower your risk, preventive measures, etc. If a presentation gives the same information in more than one way then right there they have given too much information and may
cause general disinterest for the remainder of the presentation.

6.1 I like the fact that the content is presented in a simplified manner, the interactive feature is also a nice touch

6.2 I find the aesthetics of the site a little plain and  while the animations are a pro, they seem o me a little too cartoon-ish

6.3 A little, while the site is trying to be as informative as possible something "short and sweet" for each page would be better in my opinion

1 - Yes I do, there is a history of heart attacks in my family. My moms dad, granddad, and I think uncle have all died due to heart attacks in their mid 40's. I'm almost 28, and a bit over weight. Not obese though, but only about 30 lbs with regards to my body weight.

2 - It has it's high stress, and low stress moments. I'm working at lowes, so I'm on my feet all day. I'm also a trim carpenter, and marine mechanic. So staying active is easy when I'm working. Family issues are not fun in the slightest most of the time though.

3 - I see my X-girlfriend.

4.1 - I'm more down to earth, but there are times when a certain design will just jump out at me. It all depends on how it's set up, and how they show it off. Simplicity is usually always better.

4.2 - Telling everyone steps to minimize it, having people tell stories about how it's effected them in their lives. Try to get people to understand it's actually very real, and when you lose someone close to it it will hurt for a very very long time.

4.3 - Trying to make a joke out of it, or putting too much color and flash on the situation.

5 - It all depends on the audience, you have to read them and know their modes. Sometimes you have to adjust accordingly due to other circumstances. Generally when it's a live presentation, basic information, sometimes going a bit deeper. Plenty of handouts and resources for those that want to even go deeper.

6.1 - It's a very simple and easy to read design. It's setup so it's not too bright, it's not too dark. You don't have to sidescroll at all. It's very informative, and very helpful.

6.2 - The only thing really, and this is just a odd thing with me. Is the background, with the information more up front layout. It's looks awesome used like this, and I like it. I think it's just a thing left over from the myspace days.

Back when i was still a student i had to do a lot of projects, usually on marketing subjects and those required me to find and subsequently deal with other people which at times felt annoying as hell. As such the following answers are free of charge.

1. No. Living healthy tends to be dull. A few vices here and there make things more exciting.

2. By my own standards yes. By everyone else's standards... well i suppose it's debatable.

3. You're talking about a word association of sorts? If so heart = ticker, aka the organ pumping blood throughout the whole system.

4.1. It's a case by case scenario. If the topic doesn't interest me then the presentation really doesn't matter in the least. I suppose a presentation involving some humor and interaction in one way or another would however be more appealing as far as i for one am concerned.

4.2. Nothing really as this particular topic doesn't stir my interest to begin with. If it were another subject however then i suppose i'd like it clear, concise, easy to follow, maybe including some funny notes, images or similar so as not to be forced to stare at an endless block of text.

4.3. For the presentation to be very boring and filled with endless facts that you'll not likely remember anyway. Also if it's the case for the one holding the presentation to stutter and generally make it clear that he/she has no clue or interest in what he/she is talking about.

5. Not a whole lot. Let's say enough to get through it in 10 minutes or less going at a casual pace. Then maybe have 40-50 minutes to answer questions and possibly go into more detail if asked to. If not asked to then chances are there's not a whole lot of interest to begin with so there would be no point in wasting anymore time.

6.1. Definitely the Flash captions for reasons that should be fairly obvious i believe.

6.2. Nothing in particular. If i really had to pick something then i'd go for the "this page is under construction and will update sometime in February 2010" or a similar message found somewhere in there. Why? Because it's now April 2011. Like i said though, it's really a tiny detail.

1.Do you care about the risk of obesity and how it affects your heart?
Yes, but I'm pretty fit.

2. Do you have a currently acceptable lifestyle?
No, but I'm young, and my liver's holding up pretty well.

3.If someone says 'heart' what do you see?
Warm

Some of the issues currently are appealing to teenagers about their lifestyle and obesity risks.

4.1 Do you as a teenage or young adult take more notice when an organization or adults try and 'communicate' through more trendy design and using more slang?
No - the slang usually comes across as just patronizing. Silicon Valley has made me kinda jaded about design.

4.2 What would appeal to you if someone made a presentation about the risk of heart disease?
I would like the facts - what are my risks, and what do I need to do to minimize them?

4.3 What would be really lame?
See above (4.2) - don't tell people what they should do. Just give them the information and let them understand what is best for themselves.

5. How much information do you want to hear if someone pitched a presentation of the risk of heart failure?
I'd like to hear what my risks are and what I should do to minimize them.

Take a look at this website.

http://www.heartcore.co.za/

6.1 What do you like and why?
The design is hip and coherent. The basic premise is sound, and there is some decent information present.

6.2 What do you dislike and why?
The facts don't all really hold up, especially on the substance abuse page. Focus on real health effects of different poor choices, and don't get too off-topic. This is a site for a healthy heart, right?

6.3 Do you feel overwhelmed by all the information?
No, but some of it was kinda bad.
Hello.
Yup, I'm still around, kinda

1.  Obesity and its associated heart problems have never been on my "radar," so to speak - genetically it's simply not a factor.
2.  My lifestyle works for me, at this stage of my life.  Could I stand to intake fewer fats and sugars?  Yes.  But overall I'm doin' alright.
3.  I've never really understood the <3 symbol... when someone says "heart" I see a 4-chambered, gore-slick organ pumping blood in my mind's eye, not some cutesy Valentine's Day shape.
4.1.  As a visual person, snappy design elements will always grab my attention.  Conversely, as a literate person, any use of slang (in advertising, or really anywhere other than in informal conversations between friends) tends to be a turn off.
4.2.  I'd probably most be interested in a short-form presentation, perhaps a Top 5 list of the easiest lifestyle changes you could make to decrease your risk of heart disease.
4.3.  The worst way to try to reach me is to overload me with unsolicited information.  By all means, pack a website or ad or whatever with the relevant info, but let ME choose to access it, via links or something similar, rather than inflicting it upon me.
5.  Depends on the format of the presentation.  If it's coming at me (as a commercial on TV or web ad), I want it short, sweet, and smart, and it may motivate me to do more research on my own.  If it is available for me to choose to see/hear (a website or brochure, for example), I want ALL the relevant information in one place, but well organized so that I can navigate it easily, and at my own pace.
6.1  I like the art, if not overmuch.
6.2  I don't like the general layout.  There should be less text and more visuals, up front, to my taste.
6.3  It's a little intimidating, having that much text assault the eye, yes.

Hope that helps, and good luck with the project!

1.Do you care about the risk of obesity and how it affects your heart?
As a matter a fact, I do. I believe that obesity is a real problem in today's society and it is one of the reasons we are so technologically dependent.

2. Do you have a currently acceptable lifestyle?
I like to think I do. Yeah, I eat alot of junk food and all, but I still seem to stay thin. I have been thinking of working out and eating healthier, but yeah, junk food is nice.

3.If someone says 'heart' what do you see?
Basically what keeps us alive. I see an actual heart, not one of those fake love hearts.

Some of the issues currently are appealing to teenagers about their lifestyle and obesity risks.

4.1 Do you as a teenage or young adult take more notice when an organization or adults try and 'communicate' through more trendy design and using more slang?
I myself think that it is hokey when they try and identify with us. Then again, I would like to think of myself as more mature than most people my age.

4.2 What would appeal to you if someone made a presentation about the risk of heart disease?
Making the presentation memorable, which entails one of two things. Completely gross, or really funny. I would like to lean towards the funny side, but most people need to be scared about it.

4.3 What would be really lame?
Just a long, boring seminar. Just droning the facts is going to put people asleep, not motivating them to change.

5. How much information do you want to hear if someone pitched a presentation of the risk of heart failure?
I want to hear enough to know how to prevent it. Over-extending and giving more facts than needed makes people lose interest.

Take a look at this website.

http://www.heartcore.co.za/

6.1 What do you like and why?
I like the whole setup of the website. It's visually appealing and the game is nice as well. With more and more people playing video games, presenting facts in a familiar setup eases you in.

6.2 What do you dislike and why?
I feel that the website is trying too hard to identify with younger people. "Hey, let's be heartcore!" That to me sounds a bit lame, but it may catch on with others more than I.

6.3 Do you feel overwhelmed by all the information?
Not really. I don't get the 'wall of text' feeling that I get from other health websites. The facts are divided up and presented all over the page. And website itself.

1.Do you care about the risk of obesity and how it affects your heart?

Yes

2. Do you have a currently acceptable lifestyle?

Define Acceptable, I imagine I don't get enough exercise.

3.If someone says 'heart' what do you see?

Blood

Some of the issues currently are appealing to teenagers about their lifestyle and obesity risks.

4.1 Do you as a teenage or young adult take more notice when an organization or adults try and 'communicate' through more trendy design and using more slang?

I think they're immature

4.2 What would appeal to you if someone made a presentation about the risk of heart disease?

The truth, a live candidate discussing it.

4.3 What would be really lame?

someone fit describing it, unless they had it.

5. How much information do you want to hear if someone pitched a presentation of the risk of heart failure?

Enough to know the causes and effects.

Take a look at this website.

http://www.heartcore.co.za/

6.1 What do you like and why?

The article about stress, because stress is something that is more internal than external but people keep blaming external factors, and not questioning why they stress the little things.

6.2 What do you dislike and why?

The fact that western influences are advancing on South Africa, when Western influence spreads everywhere then we're all the same and that makes for a boring existence.

6.3 Do you feel overwhelmed by all the information?

No.

1) Yes, I do... especially after taking a Human Anatomy class... I'm terrified of heart disease and obesity

2) No I do not... I'm lazy... I sit on the computer all day, pittering away on the keyboard.

3) One of two things: the shape of what pop culture has created as a heart ( <3 ) or the human heart

4.1) yes I do.  Why?  Because people don't care about facts... thy care bout flashy, trendy stuffs

4.2) The facts (numbers mostly)

4.3) trying to get my attention with either some stupid cartoon or someone dancing and singing in a heart costume

5) statistics, what causes heart disease, and what we can do to prevent it

6.1) It states the facts about what's going on.  It tells you what needs to be changed by telling you what changed.  And, it tells you in a way that is both informative and appealing way

6.2) The little game thingy on the top of the screen... it's confusing and weird... but unique

6.3) No, I don't.  Actually, I like the amount there is.  It tells you what you need to know, not too much nor too little.

Hope this helps in any capacity!

1. A little. My family is obese, and I am slightly over weight myself. Heart related diseases run in my family.

2.Define Acceptable.

3. A red pulsating muscle, that rests in the chest cavity.

4.1 No. As a matter of fact it seems like they are just trying to hard.

4.2 Less on the risk, more on what can be done about it.

4.3 Using children to get the message across.

5. Quite a bit. That is just me though. I am a very information centered person.

6.1 The simplicity, and amount of information.

6.2 The use of fonts. Makes the article headings hard to read, and seems more forced than just something that fit the subject.

6.3 No. Not at all. Like I said I like the information.

1.Do you care about the risk of obesity and how it affects your heart?
I do. I'm actually be considered slightly obese, though I don't really look it, so the issue is a little personal.

2. Do you have a currently acceptable lifestyle?
Depends on what "acceptable" means. By how our current society seems to define it, no.

3.If someone says 'heart' what do you see?
Somebody saying "heart"? Dunno really. It would depend on the situation, the context, and the person.

Some of the issues currently are appealing to teenagers about their lifestyle and obesity risks.

4.1 Do you as a teenage or young adult take more notice when an organization or adults try and 'communicate' through more trendy design and using more slang?
Yes, but only because said organization/adult usually goes about it in a slightly amusing way.

4.2 What would appeal to you if someone made a presentation about the risk of heart disease?
The links between heart disease and genetics or obesity would definitely attract my attention.l

4.3 What would be really lame?
Being bribed to take a surve - er, I mean, being lumped in with with the "average teenager" just because I'm the same age. Honestly, judging a person just because they're in a certain age group and instantly forming a "label" for them is idiotic.

5. How much information do you want to hear if someone pitched a presentation of the risk of heart failure?

I'm starting to see a theme of hearts here . . . I want to hear about the fact, not testaments or accounts of what has happened. No opinions, just facts. And don't try and prescribe me medicine or anything like that. Just tell me what I can do to reduce my chances and everything will be alright.

Take a look at this website.

http://www.heartcore.co.za/

6.1 What do you like and why?

It is well put together and it definitely appeals to me aesthetically. The colors aren't too flashy and really blend together.

6.2 What do you dislike and why?
There really isn't anything that I can name right off the top of my head, but the Flash-game at the top is a little annoying. Present the game on a separate page with a clearly defined heading reading "Game" or something similar. Having it right there at the menu bar is a little distracting as I naturally want to play it, which is where the problem lies. If I get distracted by the game, am I going to browse the site, learn more about it, and become informed about heart disease? No, I'm probably going to spend quite a bit of time playing that little game.

6.3 Do you feel overwhelmed by all the information?
Not really. The home page may give off the "Wall-O-Text" vibe to those who aren't used to reading large amounts of text. Other than that, I believe that the information is spaced out well enough to keep the reader interested, yet not far enough apart where the reader has trouble linking everything together and gets frustrated. Or something like that.

1.Do you care about the risk of obesity and how it affects your heart?
Not particularly, as it just hasn't really affected me before. Still rather avoid it though...

2. Do you have a currently acceptable lifestyle?
Only complaint is not enough time for VE...

3.If someone says 'heart' what do you see?
Blood pump... (but C.G.I.'d like in House)

Some of the issues currently are appealing to teenagers about their lifestyle and obesity risks.

4.1 Do you as a teenage or young adult take more notice when an organization or adults try and 'communicate' through more trendy design and using more slang?
If its humorous yes, if not, no.

4.2 What would appeal to you if someone made a presentation about the risk of heart disease?
What I could do about it. Of free stuff (that's always a bonus)

4.3 What would be really lame?
Just taking... a lot... in uncomfortable chairs. (mostly the uncomfortable chairs)

5. How much information do you want to hear if someone pitched a presentation of the risk of heart failure?
Any amount sprinkled with other things to keep it entertaining.

Take a look at this website.

6.1 What do you like and why?
Interesting take on the subject, very colourful. It catches the eye.

6.2 What do you dislike and why?
Not  huge fan of Rollerblades...

6.3 Do you feel overwhelmed by all the information?
Paragraphs evoke a warm and fuzzy feeling... (not really/literally , though I'm more inclined to read it if it is broken up)

1.Do you care about the risk of obesity and how it affects your heart?
Not particularly, as it just hasn't really affected me before. I would still rather avoid it though...

2. Do you have a currently acceptable lifestyle?
Only complaint is not enough time for VE...

3.If someone says 'heart' what do you see?

Oh sorry, the voice in head told me to answer them.
"He has his orders, and when a Chiss accepts orders he carries them out, period."

"He's in there, I was gonna shoot him but I was... busy."

"Chiss don't invade the territories of others. We don't even make war against potential enemies unless we're attacked first."

"You have to admire the Chiss. They don't just steal your technology—they make it better."
