I mean, Trykon is pronounced "Tricken" (and Wyl is just another spelling of "Will"), so I guess by extension the pronunciation of "Trick" and "Tryk" are the same, but I can't help but read the second as a shortened form of tricycle... NOT what I was going for. Then again, with my TIE Defender obsession, trike could work, after all. I guess the whole point of a callsign is that it's bestowed upon you, rather than chosen, so I should just bend to the majority's collective wyl... er, that is to say, their collective will.

I was going for a slightly divergent spelling convention (as I can imagine such a situation developing on colony worlds far from other intra-species influences). So, yes, Avalar (and everybody else), please think of the "y"s in my first and last names as short "i" sounds (as found in "s yncopation" and "rh ythm"), rather than the drawn-out "ai" diphthong sound (as found in "megab yte" and "g yroscope"). In terms of pronunciation, perhaps a tortured quote pressed into service as a mnemonic is in order: "Do (say it correctly), or Do Not, (but when you say it, remember) there is no 'Try' - only a 'Tri.'" And obviously no apologizing is necessary (except possibly for the preceding sentence). Had I wanted to, I could have avoided the need for clarification by just calling myself Will Tricken. Baldr, go ahead and read the preceding posts, and get a feel for where in the narrative the story is, then write about your character doing something appropriate (like shooting at New Republic fighters!). You'll get the hang of it.
