I know I will faithfully be following every match with a heavy heart knowing the Turks failed to qualify (and after such a great Euro run in 2008). So, here's to the Dutch and Americans!

I'll be watching as much as I can follow....man this makes me miss the years when I played recreational soccer back when I was...9-13.
Because of my French roots I'll be watching France most certainly and probably a few more teams all depending on whose worth watching in terms of general good play. |

I will be watching as much as I can. I was very impressed with South Africa's first match and was disappointed when they didn't come away with a win (which they really should have).

I was totally unimpressed by the first match; ugh, boring and the only time either team got the ball were from pretty bad mistakes by the other team.
France and Uruguay. Well firstly uruguay are pretty good, people forget that. Second, France barely qualified. We already know they're not doing great. So I'm still going to say France and Uruguay get through because they don't make as many mistakes, but neither of them make the Semi-Finals. Damn, what a game. A little disappointed that USA didn't steal it (see: Altidore's post) but I'm damn happy that we didn't outright lose.

Well. That was a disappointment.
After a fairly standard beginning, with America getting the expected trouncing. (4:00 goal?), things had a nasty reserval, thanks to the butter-fingered English goalie.
After that, the spirit just went out of the English team. Still, it's telling that the Americans only scraped a draw with the help of an Englishman.
Nice going, Butter-fingers!

Well you guys said it: we scored thanks to your goalie.
But a team is only as strong as its weakest link. England showed that they have no teamsmanship and if Robert Green keeps giving up goals like that then how safe is England against ANYONE? You could have the bet striker in the world, you could have the strongest centers, but if the sum of the whole is not greater than its biggest part then it's not going to work.
I understand you're going to be sour about ANY English faliure, but do remember that it's only because England doesn't play as well as a team as the USA does. From what i've seen....beyond NightOwl I'm the only British guy to post in this thread.
I laughed hard when Green let that goal in. I laughed probably the hardest I have ever laughed in the history of me watching football matches. The only disappointment was that the USA didn't beat us outright.
For one simple reason, I'm sick to death of this country being so obsessed with being good at football and wanting to win the World Cup. We're awful, we will be awful probably for most of my lifetime. We have individual talent, what with the majority of our squad playing in the best squads in the world. The problem with that individual talent is that they just don't compute as a team. You saw it in the match, on a one to one basis the English players always seemed to overcome the American counterparts, but I think as a squad we weren't really that good. Hell, I think the USA did better on that front.
Germany's performance yesterday has made them the favourites in my book. To hell with all the English arrogance, I cant wait till we hopefully face them and fall flat on our faces. Kanderin Azalar Draken
