For one simple reason, I'm sick to death of this country being so obsessed with being good at football and wanting to win the World Cup. We're awful, we will be awful probably for most of my lifetime. We have individual talent, what with the majority of our squad playing in the best squads in the world. The problem with that individual talent is that they just don't compute as a team. You saw it in the match, on a one to one basis the English players always seemed to overcome the American counterparts, but I think as a squad we weren't really that good. Hell, I think the USA did better on that front.
Germany's performance yesterday has made them the favourites in my book. To hell with all the English arrogance, I cant wait till we hopefully face them and fall flat on our faces.
Hey, I'm British! See, plenty of managers have said that. Some have refused to manage England unless- a) fewer FA games, the players 'rest' period is the world cup and b) for the squad to train as a team, not just once or twice in the summer. Of course teams don't like that. If Rooney, Lampard, Gerrard, Heskey, Crouch etc. are regularly absent from your team, you're not going to be happy. TBH, I'd rather win an international tournament; or have a decent chance at qualifying *cough*Euro '08*cough* than have a surprisingly English(ish) team win the premiership. Yep, Referees are bad. Algeria had three handballs that you could see without replays, several England (and one or two Algerian) players ended up on the ground after being jumped on etc.
US vs. Slovenia. I'm happy about the result. I LOL'ed at the dissallowed goal. On the other hand, I heard the whistle well before the goal, and despite the commentators, did see several US players fouling as well as several Slovenian players.

Some news from the warzone that I find amusing.
England lost 4-1 to Germany, thats no news to anyone. I find it highly amusing that for all but maybe ten minutes, this team that "Definetely have the skill to win" were routinely outclassed, making schoolboy errors time and time again.
But is that the reason we lost? No. According to most of the country, It's because the referee disallowed the goal that'd of made the final score 4-2 instead of 4-1.

I think the way the country views it is that had the goal been allowed then the team would have went into half time with a 2-2 game and the confidence that they could win the game.
Instead they came out in the second half, their minds still on the inustice of the equalising goal being disallowed and their heads not fully in the game.
Not an excuse to be hammered 4-1 of course but thats how I think the country sees it.

Hopefully it might make FIFA consider video replays to help out the referees. I watch American Football and I think having the option where a coach can challenge just 2 decisions made by a ref is fantastic, why they can't adopt a similar policy to regular football I will never know, surely it can't stop the ebb and flow of the game as if the ref makes a decision he usually stops the game anyway for a free kick, goal kick, etc. TRP/PSC Zak Nightowl/3SQD/1PLT/1COM/1BAT/1RGT/VEA/VE/

Brazil and Germany have been to the final more than any other teams in the World Cup. I would very much like to see both of them knocked out. Ideally the final would be Netherlands v Spain with the third place game being Argentina v Ghana. Get new faces (save Argentina) in the final leg.
