of course i don't mind, i had something written but with an addition of piano and bagpipes we could do a whole load better i would recommend we start the composition with either piano or pipes they are more suited to an anthem styled composition
i suggest one of us starts by writing there part then passing it to the next musician so they can add there part
pretty much like we do with storeys here
another issue whoever is singing this is going to need to write the lyrics if someone writes them and passes them on the vocalist isn't going to know how words on paper are supposed to sound
so who wants to put there instrument up first?

My ego has easily doubled in size after all your talk about me Drex
And when it comes down to it you're the song writer, you design what you want of it and either give me a beat you want me to flavour a little bit or just let me know and I'll put something in from scratch.

hehe well im not entirely sure what we'r after here
do we want a battle march anthem
something fast paced and empowering
or do we want more of a slow sonate
melodic and sombre

I think for the songwriter, lyrics can be written to notes or like in drum music, you can just write note values next to the words to show the person singing how it should go.

thats assuming the vocalist can both read music notation as well as have trained there voice to the notes but i get where your coming from
it also requires that the person writing the lyrics can also write music notation
if anyone can write music notation by all means its a great idea
if anyone can sing vocal notations get you but in this project
here im also taking the opportunity to list the things we'r going to need
we have guitar, drums, bagpipes, and piano
some bass wouldn't go a miss
we need a stable way of recording each instrument
it'll need to be done through sending compositions to one another
as everyone involved does't exactly stay next door to each other.
also needed to decide on what genre this is going along
it obviously can't be a black metal anthem i don't think
to many people enjoy than music here hehe.
finally it might be an idea to figure out what we'r doing with this in the long run.
Anyone at all with further suggestions by all means post
lets try an get the ball rolling

recording might be a struggle, the only means of recording i have are through garage band and through a camcorder. which aren't ideal i'm guessing

Garage band im acquainted with used to use it for loops when writing
and a cam corder could be used for at least passing on the recordings to one another
there is something i think may work that is using a multi track recorder for example audacity where one of us would record our composition and send the project to the next
the only problem with that is its recorded through your own mic
which in my own case the quality isn't exactly perfect
but as of now it's the best solution i can think off

right oh people i know exactly where this should go in terms of genera
if you'v ever heard of the band sonata artica you'll know where im headed
if not look it up i reckon you'll like it they are very ... likible
obviously we wont be exactly the same as them the instruments at our disposal just wouldn't do it hehe
but this is where i think it should go
preferably along the lines of the song letter to daina
hehe im all fired up im gonna get writing

sing as in the styles of a folk lore bard the range differs between maybe 6 to 8 notes and not particularly difficult between thos
tho if i write something and your skill range is better don't hold back on giving it a boost anything i write is more or less in basic form
i'd rather you had your individual touch that in its own right makes a great song better
that goes for anyone involved or interested be creative dam it

should i write it in perspective of a loyal character
or from he point of view of he irl people who comprise the numbers of the VE

look at modern anthems (hehe modern) , I would suggest to use that as a reference. When you listen to your anthem how do you feel? Patriotic? Proud? Disgusted? or do you feel This fing song again?

Wait, we haven't settled this yet? haha. I propose Gregorian Chant. We are the Vast Empire and we like what we do. We kill rebel scum and we will kill you. So don't mess with us or you'll regret it. We will punt your ass just like Becket. Yeah we have Flyboys and we have Stormtroopers But occasionally they're as good as shit-scoopers That's why we have Dark Jedis. Who will always serve you like fries. And do not doubt that you will not live. For Kadann, dark lord, prefers us to be productive And so we will not be lazy Even if Snipes and crew are hazy. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhmennnnnnnnnn. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmW5pD9QdvcSo yeah. Use that tune with my words. And we'll have the best anthem evar.

Well due to me being lazy i damn near let this die.
I'v started writing lyrics if they don't go down well we can use Ron's.
They get a chuckle from most i think .
So these are Written in a kind of Character perspective.
I give you a potential VE anthem Chorus short and sweet .
we live on like the embers of the morrow
we have fought we have won
under many stars and different suns
above all we wont fall till a grave in the void
at the ready holding steady
in our glory the battles only just begun
Only the chorus people the verses are still to come.

Hey I was working on this but I play guitar and my vocals are bust from screamo singing, I need some co workers on this with a bit of dedication to the cause
I did have a thought towards this a few days ago.
Would it not be awesome to have say a 10-15 minute instrumental piece?.

RB if your in agreement we could just use that.
Unless that is the pre-defined anthem, in which case I now feel stupid.

I like it, however I wanted something more english, or at least something we can really sing. I don't mind picking a different language as it gives it an "alien" feel.

If you can find a song with a decent back track I reckon I could remove the vocals to a point, but then we'd still need someone to sing it.
And not that song by god I tried removing vocals it's like they're nailed in place.

Right oh going at this once again.
Do you play an instrument?
Can you sing?
And with all the writers here someone must be able to come up with some serious lyrics that is totally relevant to the VE.
We're looking for original creation, something that we can call 100% our own.
The last thing on the cards is that we need a solid method to record ad pass between participants.
Hopefully this takes off this time.

Unless it's a stickied topic like oh say the ComNet Ranks, PPC pages or whatever...Any topic that hasn't been posted on in 1-2 months is considered dead and sholdn't be revived. Before you two posted the last post was put up July 30th, which means what?
