This is my own personal thoughts regarding the competition.
What did you like? Why?When I first was told about the quality over quantity I thought that it was going to be a very poor competition. I have to say that that is the thing which I enjoyed the most and I have to hope that my writing has improved and will remain at an improved level after this competition is over.
Another thing I liked was the fact that the PC gave the SL/ASL choices over what the squad was to achieve next. It gave the squad more control over how they wanted their story to progress rather than just being told what they had to do.
What didn't you like? Why?This will be no surprise to Angel but the part I liked the least was when we had to write from the perspective of a supporting squad. I felt like the competition was continually building on my writing skills but when asked to write from the viewpoint of a different squad it was definitely a new challenge but a very difficult one and one which I found hard to get started, it felt more like work than a fun thing. I personally felt that after that round was over it was difficult to get back into character and I and feel that my last posts where not as good as earlier ones in the competition.
What aspects need fixing?I personally would remove the objective where you had to write from a different squad’s viewpoint. I believe that the skills you learn in writing from the earlier objectives are sometimes lost when you have to write from a different perspective.
What can improve it?Apart from the removal of that objective, another thing that I can think of for improvement is to provide the SL/ASL more options of storyline as deciding between just two options is limiting.
