So, uh, in a few minutes/hours, a competition will be starting that you may (or may not) have been made aware of. These are the rules, applicable to both platoons.
Story AspectsEach post made on the story will be graded on a scale of 1-5. A post which merits a 1 is probably very short, badly misspelt and lacking any real substance. Zeros are possible if we deem the post to be worse than that. A post scoring 5 contains near-perfect spelling and an overall excellent quality. Please note: the length of the post will only be taken into account on extreme circumstances. A post of only ten paragraphs will not be disadvantaged against a post of fifty. The 'extreme' would be a post of only a few sentences.
Each post's score will then be added to the squad's total. Usual rules apply - No double posting, no reserving posts.
GraphicsEach graphic piece should depict a scene from your Platoon's story in a quality manner. These works will be holistically judged on a
0-15 scale. Bear in mind however, it 95% of the work submitted will gain no more than a 5. For a piece to surpass that threshold, it will have to be, in all meanings of the word, awesome. Da Vinci only got a 13, by the way.
A '0' will be awarded to any submission that is -
- Stolen
- A repeated submission
- Offensive (If your submission is a lighthearted stab at another member or squad, it's recommended you get their permission before posting it)
- Lacking sufficient quality to be graded elsewhere (A stormtrooper pasted onto a background image is not considered a quality graphic)
Squad banners and avatar decoration are not allowed for this competition. Also, try to lay off the MS paint unless you can work miracles with it.
There will be a Graphics thread where you may post your created graphic and wait for it to be marked. We will leave an edit on it to confirm we have indeed marked it, but please bear in mind we cant disclose it or any other piece's scores until the end.
GamingLounge Night is accepted in the gaming sector, although it's games will only count for points when played within Lounge hours. Normal VE-approved (check FAQ) PC games are the only ones that will be counted towards gaming points on normal days. Points will be awarded on the following scale -
Taking part in a match - 1 Point
A Win - 2 Points
A Draw (where applicable) - 1 Point
Claim your points or risk missing out
Graphics and Gaming will have scoring topics, keeping tabs of who has done that. For the gaming topic, you will be expected to detail -
1) What the game you played was
2) Who it was played with
3) What the Result was
4) Some sort of evidence (A screenshot preferably)
We don't need every single person in one match to do this, we simply need one person to do it for each game. If player's A, B and C all played pool, only Player A should post the result. If there are disputes with the results, they should be taken up with myself and Arnaut via PM, and not take up space on the topic. Lounge game results we can run past Rizzit, but a certain amount of gamesmanship should be used in the others. Too much bickering about the result simply means we'll void it.
Games between members of your own squad or of another division (or between yourself and you) will not be counted. Just to clear that up.
Combat Arms IS an acceptable game, provided it's only between Army troopers.
Promotions and MedalsPromotions and medals will be announced at the end of the competition. A list of medals obtainable from the competition may be announced prior to the end of the competition. It also may not. We'll see.
OverallYour total's for each category will be added to your squad's total, and your overall will be used to grade your place in the competition. Bonus points may be awarded where necessary (to the best gamer, best artist, best poster, etc.) and will be announced on a case-by-case basis. Squad with the most points wins and gets heaps of braggin' rights. Losing squads will do the laungry for the officers. Either way, somebody's happy!
And that's all. I wish you all luck and remember...wear a smile and try to have fun!
