First off, I want to start by apologizing to G for taking so long with this post, I had meant to make this Saturday and ended up working a double shift, and Sunday I put it off with something else.
Now that that's out of the way, lets get down to business.
It's come to a point in my life where I realize that I don't have time to continue writing full time stories with the VE. I cannot fit this in with my school work (senior year of high school), my job, building a race car, and assembling a (hopefully) award winning show car. It is for these reasons that I am 'hanging up the flight suit', so to stick with character, and taking my leave from the VEN.
I've learned a great many things here, and this entire group has been a positive experiance for me. I've got many people to thank on my rise up the ladder, for teaching me the various things I'd needed to learn about how to write. I'll start the list with the Tokijin, who I have to consider an excellent writing partner. It was sad to see her leave, and although I know there was a huge disagreement at the end, I'm glad that's behind us now. Next, I'll move on to Jeg, who did an excellent job commanding Nazgul after me, and worked well with me as an XO. Following him, I'd like to thank Tomas for his friendship and again, his position as XO set the bar rather high. To look back on the old Nazgul, I'd like to thank Jen, Darius, DJ, Jaden, and everyone else who wrote with me during my first year or so. Finally, Shazam, whose excellent word-slinging set the bar high for me, and gave me something to shoot for. It is with great regret that in my time here and my time as Nazgul Squadron Commander that I couldn't attain the heights he did, and looking back I wish I could have done better.
I'd like to thank those who gave me compliments on my writing, and I can only hope that it has imparted as much knowledge to you as Shazam's did to me. It's not much, but at this point, knowledge from my existing writing is all I can offer to those who are here. Well over 250 career posts, possibly the highest career post count within recent Navy records, and it was definately the highest of the active members.
Saying that though, and looking at what we've got now for pilots, I have to think that that won't stand for long. We've got many aspiring writers here, to steal and modify something from ACDC.."For those about to write, I salute you."
Once again, it is with great sorrow that I bid adieu to this organization and all of its members. Perhaps one day in the near future I'll be able to come back, when my life gets a little more under control and some of my projects get completed or pushed to the side.
Until then, all I can say is keep writing and do the Navy proud.
Special message to Nazgul - It is breaking my heart to retire, but I can be happy to finish in the place I started. I owe Driver a huge thank you for allowing me to join up with you guys again for four days and help win the competition. I know that by comparison, my contribution was small and possibly poorly timed, and I honestly wish I could have been here through the whole thing. Congratulations guys, you did great.
