Jedi was on his way to Snake's office. Snake had asked Jedi to join him in there, but he had no idea what he wanted to see him about. Jedi curiously pondered on his way down there: "Maybe he is unsatisfied with my work as of late, and is kicking me out of the RAIDERS." Jedi thought. "nah. no one else is doing anything either." Jedi approached the door to Snake's office. "Oh well, this is it." he thought. Jedi opened the door and quietly shut it. "Jedi! Good of you to come!" Please have a seat." said Snake as he motioned to a chair. Jedi was sweating bullets. Snake was obviously taking his time telling him what he called him here for. This was torture. "You're probably wondering why I am asking you here." said Snake. "As a matter in fact sir, I am. Why are you meeting with me?" Jedi asked. "Well Jedi, reports have been coming in as of late that we have Rebel encampment close to us. This needs to be checked out, but the scanners don't pick anything up." replied Snake. "I see. So, you want me to do your dirty work for you again?" teased Jedi. Snake was somewhat irritated, but kept his cool. "No Jedi. The whole squad is going to be taking part in this. As my XO, I thought I should discuss it with you." said Snake. "I appreciate it. So when do we start?" "Tomorrow morning. 04:00 hours." "Roger that." "We will split into 2 groups and ward them off if necessary. This will not be an easy mission, I know there are rebels around, I can sense it. They will be well protected I am sure. Just thought I would fill you in." "Thank you sir. Is that all?" "No, that is all. You are dismissed." After being dismissed, Jedi saluted and returned to his quarters. "Well at least I'm not getting kicked out." thought Jedi. "Guess I better get some sleep, I got a long day ahead of me." Jedi went to sleep and woke up to the sound of Snake's voice over the loud speaker. "All troops to the meeting room. All troops to the meeting room. Get here now." said Snake. With that, everyone got into their stormtrooper armor and reported to the meeting room. They all knew that it was time to do some work. The darkjedi got their sabers, and the rest just got their guns. When everyone was there Snake began to speak. "Greetings troops. I hope you have all rested up. We've got a big day ahead of us." said Snake. "Oh no! Snake messed up his office again." commented grizzly. "Verry funny. No, I am afraid we are not cleaning my office again. We are going into war." replied Snake. "Interesting." said Otto Vox. "With who?" "Rebel encampments have been reported in the area. We are going to explore around and exterminate the rebel squads. Then, hopefully we can get enough info out of their computers to find out where the main base is, and hop on a shuttle to go destroy the menace once and for all." said Snake. "About the ground assault, what is the plan? asked D-13. "We will employ all of our walkers and surprise them at their camps. Jedi and I will be taking the AT-PTs to lead the attack. Otto, you are to take your epsa 101. Shadow, you and D-13 are to take a AT-ST and follow us. Grizzly, you and Nomar will do the same. Cloud, you and ztribal1 are to take the standard ST and bring up the rear. You are all expected to have all of your weapons, because we are also launching an attack from the ground. The walkers are just to get us there. Once it is safe to eject and have them attack automatically we will do so. Now, let's get moving." said Snake. "Let's go show these Rebels that they cannot sneak up on the RAIDERS." said Jedi. With that, the RAIDERS went into the hangar where the walkers were kept. When all of the members were in the room the door shut. "Okay troops, get to your walkers." Snake said. Snake and Jedi boarded their AT-PT walkers. They had a video com-link in each walker. The first thing they did was activate it. Otto boarded his Epsa 101, and D-13, Shadow, Grizzly and Nomar boarded their AT-ST walkers. Cloud and ztribal1 boarded their walker. The Squad members weapons were tucked safely in their belts, so it would be handy. They were all ready. Snake came on the com-link. "Okay troops lets move out." said Snake as he activated the remote to open the hangar doors. The walkers moved out of the hangar, and looked like a circle in the formation they were walking in. The two PT walkers lead followed by the Espa 101 and the AT-ST walkers, with the ST walker bringing up the rear. Little did the RAIDERS know, they were walking straight into a trap.   ----------------------- Sargeant Jedi Dark Jedi Knight Executive Officer Raiders' Squad Army of the Vast Empire XO/TRP/SGT Jedi/3SQD/1PLT/COMP/1BAT/1RGT/VEA/VE[OPE] "If we live in a peaceful society, why is there such an abundance of Evil?"--Jedi

About a mile away, the Rebels were set up ready to attck the RAIDERS as soon as they were in range. The walkers kept on going as if nothing was there, then out of the blue, came an outbust of Rebel gunfire. Jedi and Snake took the damage heavily and had to bail. Snake first sent a message to his troopers. "Get out of your walkers and start giving some counter-fire. I need all troopers to come and take care of these Rebels. Set walkers on auto and eject." said Snake. Being faithful to the end, the RAIDERS got out of their walkers and began firing at the Rebel troops. Jedi ignited his lightstaff and began chasing after the Rebel troops, reflecting their fire as he went. Jedi managed to kill a couple of them, but then made a discovery. To Jedi's surprise, they were ready for him and any other darkjedi. The Rebels brought along a handful of Jedi Knights for them to deal with as well. Seeing as Jedi was no coward, and was not about to embarass the RAIDERS and himself, he decided to take on the Jedi Knights as he would any enemy.....with honor!

Shadow glanced over at D-13 and grimaced as the battle unfolding around them got a little more complicated. Just when it appeared that the Raiders had the upper hand on the Rebels, two Jedi Knights had made a surprise appearance, seemingly from out of nowhere. D-13 mumbled something about the squad's bad luck which Shadow didn't catch because he wasn't really paying attention.     Carefully, Shadow brought their AT-ST walker to a halt and opened the top hatch. He felt on either side for his blaster rifles and then double-checked to make sure his swords were strapped securely to his back. He didn't really plan to tangle with the Jedi, but perhaps he could cause some sort of distraction.     "Where are you going?" D-13 asked.     "Somebody has to play the hero," Shadow answered, shrugging.     "Do you really feel up to it? It's not like you've had too much time since coming out of that bacta tank." D-13 smiled. He wasn't about to try and stop Shadow if he wanted to go and do something stupid.     "Nomar was the one who took the brunt of that little skirmish," Shadow answered. "Just stay in here and cover me, all right? Just don't try to shoot those Jedi - we're gonna have to take them out close and personal."     "And just how do you plan on doing that?" D-13 questioned.     "I'll figure that out when I need to. For now, I'll just stick with being spontaneous and unexpected."     "Whatever works," D-13 commented, turning to take control of the walker's main cannons in case any significant threat moved in on Shadow.     The older man took one more look around and then leapt off of the Imperial mech in one swift motion. His black armor almost shined in the midday sun as he got a hold of his surroundings and raced off in the direction of the Jedi Knights.     As he sprinted across the battlefield, he noticed Snake and Cloud were pinned down by a small group of Rebels. Quickly, without much thought, Shadow pulled out one of the two frag grenades he had on him and tossed it toward the enemy. The impending explosion sent flames, shrapnel, and Rebels everywhere, and the other two Raiders came charging out of their cover with guns blaring. Snake waved at Shadow as the silent-runner streaked by.     When he came to the place where he and D-13 spotted the Knights, the situation was just as he had expected. Jedi was engaged in battle with the Knights, using his lightstaff to fend off both attackers at once. Just as Shadow was about to put his plan into action, Otto appeared at his side.     "What are you doing?" Vox whispered.     "I'm not really sure - I was going to try something."     "Yeah, and get killed in the process," Otto replied.     "Well, what do you think you're going to do? You're not exactly a full-fledged Dark Jedi. You won't be much good in there without a lightsaber."     Otto frowned at his fellow trooper. "And you think you're going to be able to do something with a couple of little swords?"     Shadow shook his head. "We have to do something - Jedi can't hold out forever."     "Fine, fine. I guess if we both do something stupid, maybe those Jedi will be caught off guard enough for him to get the uppper hand."     "Yes, but what?"

Otto sat and sent plan after plan through his head, it wasn't going to be easy to fight two Jedi Knights with Lightsabers when the only thing that Shadow and he had were their swords, guns, and the Ryyk blades Otto always carried around. But the trooper formally know as Jedi, aka Rizzit would bring the odds steadily up in Raiders favor. Otto motioned to Shadow to stay and wait while he sped back to his ESPO 101 and grabbed his Ryyk blades, and strapped on his wrist lasers. Otto ran back to Shad, and they set off to attack the two Jedi Knights. They reached the fighting Jedi and Otto sprung up and over the closests slicing at his head with his blades, while Shadow hung back and fired when ever possible, dodging the blasts when they were deflected back at him. The Knight that Otto swung at turned his saber on him, Otto leaped back and fired off shots from his wrist lasers, one at the Knights head ant the other at his knee cap. The Jedi delfected the shot to his head, but the two shots were so in sync with each other that there was no time for the Jedi to deflect the one to his knee. He fell clutching his knee with a face of wrenched pain. Otto un-shiethed his Sat'skar sword and stabbed at the Knights heart. The Jedi swung his blade up and sliced at Otto's sword, sclicing it in two. Otto kicked the Jedi's hand, forcing the saber from his hand, and fired his wrist lasers at the Jedi's chest, blasting a large hole in the now carcase of the sad excuse for a Jedi. Meanwhile, Rizzit was having a fine time with the other Knight. They had been fighting for about 10 minutes now, and each showed obvious fatige, with Shadow firing at the Knight when ever he could, it had to deal with deflecting shots, and with Rizzit. Rizzit also had to dodge or deflect any shots that the Knight directed at him. Otto saw this and ran over to Shadow telling him to stop firing.   "But Otto, this Jedi is pretty good." said Shadow "Yes, but so is Rizzit," argued Otto "You and I will just have to sit back and watch. If Rizzit loses, there's two of us, with good team work, and a lot of luck, I think we could take him." But there was no need, with Rizzit realizing that Shadow wasn't going to fire any more, all he had to think about was fighting this Knight. Sadly for the Knight, he had not realized this yet, and was still half minded to deflect incoming fire. Rizzit took this to his advantage. He swung, the Jedi parried, Rizzit spun around, slashed at the Jedi's legs, the Jedi leaped up and flipped over Rizzit. Rizzit thrusted up, catching the Jedi's foot. The Jedi fell when he landed and saw the front of his foot on the ground next to his stomach. But the Jedi got up and kept fighting. Rizzit came in near the Jedi's chest, was parried, and elbowed the Jedi in the face. He opened his hand and thrusted Force through it and into the Jedi, pushing him back into a tree with a broken branch. The branched pierced through the Knight's kidney and protruded through it's stomach. The Jedi looked down in disbelief and shock. Otto looked at the Knight's eyes and saw them roll into the back of his head. The Jedi started to move. Otto raised his wrist lasers and blasted at the Knight's head, the bolts hit right on mark and blew the Jedi's head in on it's self. Otto and Shadow got up and walked over to Rizzit.   "Nice shot Otto." said Rizzit "Yeah, that was pretty good." agreed Shadow       "Aaa,  that was nothin, basic training does that." said Otto "And besides, that was some pretty good fighting Rizz. With out you thrusting him into that tree, I would never have gotten that shot in."   "Sure thing. Now, let's stop the celebrating and get back to the fighting." Otto ran back to his ESPO and found two Rebel troopers trying to get in. He yelled to them and they swung around and blasted at him, he dove forward and summersaulted up, blasting at them with his wrist lasers, taking each one down with ease. He jumped up and got into the drivers seat of his walker. Rebels were in the trees when he looked out his view port. He blasted at them with the light blaster cannon, wishing he had a heavy blaster cannon, but this did the job. Once those Rebels were "out of the trees" he started the walker in motion and nearly stepped on a Rebel trooper. The Rebel fell back and fired at the ESPO. Otto hopped up, grabbing his 8-guage shot gun. He opened the hatch and the Rebel looked up and aimed his blaster, firing at Otto's head. Otto ducked and could feel the bolt just singe his hair.   "That was a little TOO close." muttered Otto He raised back up, and fired off his shot gun, blasting the Rebel in two. He hopped back down in the the drivers seat and steered off in search of more Rebels to insinerate.

Otto and Shadow had done a good job of clearing the Rebels out of the area. Rizzit took this opprutunity to go into the  base and get information on where the main base was located. Rizzit picked up his com-link and radioed snake. "Yo Snake! Keep everyone out of the main base I'm going in." said Rizzit. "Okay. I'll send Shadow in with you to make sure that you don't get disturbed. We need that information to destroy the Rebellion." replied Snake. "Copy that. He can meet me inside, I am goin' in now." "Roger." Snake called Shadow over, and explained the whole situation. Shadow realized he was badly needed by Rizzit, and went inside to assist him. The Raiders surrounded the perimiter of the base in case more Rebels came back. Rizzit entered the base first and discovered there were Rebels everywhere. There were tons of them everywhere. He would need backup. Rizzit radioed for Shadow to come assist him ----------------------- Sargeant Rizzit Dark Jedi Knight Eagle Sect Raider's Squad XO/TRP/SGT Rizzit/3SQD/1PLT/COMP/1BAT/1RGT//VE[OPE][OTH] CM/DJK Rizzit/Lion 1-3//VE "Should I let him die slowly, or put him out of his misery?"--Rizzit

Otto sat in his ESPO and kept his mind half set on the sensors and the other half on what he sensed through the Force, searching for wandering Rebels, he knew that the compound was full of them, but Rizz was handling that, and Shad was helping. Otto clearly knew that Rizz was just going to use Shad as a distraction to the Rebels, Otto would greatly miss his friend. Then, as through luck, though there is no such thing as luck, Otto felt a small squad of Rebels about 20 clicks away to the North, and directed his longer ranged sensors at them, giving assurance to his senses.   "Hey Rizz, how important to you is it to use Shadow as a shield?" Otto asked over the comm. "So, you know my plan" joked Rizz   "Yes, I do, and I wish to ask of Shadow's true assistance in taking out a group of Rebels wandering in the woods nearby, you can take Nomar."   "Alright, take your precious friend, and I'll take that useless little whimpering dog." And with that, Shadow assured Otto that he was on his way, and sending Nomar into the compound to "assist" Rizzit. Otto tapped into the young man's life force and kept a piece of his mind on his life signs. Otto and Shadow were only a click away from the Rebels when Otto felt no more presence of Nomar's life, the trooper had done his job, and Otto respected him for that little moment. Suddenly he felt a jolt hit the side of his walker, and turned to find the first Rebel trooper sitting behind a V-WEB PORTABLE BLASTER ARTILLERY PIECE, weak, but effective, it almost knocked Otto out of his seat, if it weren't for his crash straps. He needed to work on sensing all the Force at all times, not just one part of it. He turned his walker at the Rebel and aimed his laser turret at the man, in his face was fear and shock, an empty hole of vision were in his eyes. Otto pulled the trigger and watched the man vaporize before him. He glanced over to see Shadow in his AT-ST along with D-13 blast two more Rebels. Otto heard a thunk on the top of his walker and glanced up as the hatch opened and the head of a very nosey Rebel poped in, Otto raised his wrist lasers, waved "hi" to the man, and blasted him in the face. The man fell on the floor. Otto jumped up and closed the hatch, hopped back in his seat and turned toward a small group of Rebels clustered near a large rock, blasting at Shad's AT-ST. He fired a single missle and watched the Rebels, now balls of flame, fly off every which way.   "Thanks Otto." said D-13 "No problem D." replyed Otto as he looked at his sensors and felt for more Rebel troopers. "Well, we're done, lesgo see how Rizz did, and get Nomar's carcase outa here."

OOC: Com'on Raiders! Don't Let me, Shadow, and Otto be the only ones posting! While the RAIDERS were off killing the Rebels, Rizzit had his hands full. He killed a large number of Rebels, but there seemed to be Rebels everywhere, and although he was more than a match for them, there was no way that he could possibly get the info from the computer that he needed while the Rebels were on his back. With Nomar gone, there was no one to draw the Rebels away from the main computer. Rizzit picked up his com-link and Radioed Snake. "Yo Snake! This is Rizzit! I need assistance." "Hey Rizz! We were just on our way to see ya." "Great! I need all of you to deal with these Rebels. That way, I can get the information out of the database." "Geez! Can't you take care of a few Rebels?" "Heh a few?" said Rizzit as he chuckled slightly. "I have killed over 50 Rebels, and the are still coming. I don't want to lose the information in the database, so I am trying to keep them away from the computer. Just get in here, I need help! Bye!" Rizzit closed the connection without giving Snake  a chance to reply back. Snake stared at him com-link, more shocked than upset. "Geez! This is the first time I had an XO give ME an order."he thought. Snake put the petty detail aside and gathered the troops. Snake then led them into the Rebel base to go assist Rizzit. With luck, he would be able to retrieve the information, and the Raiders could do away with the Rebellion once and for all.

Otto raced into the compound just behind Snake, and beside Shadow. He was sporting his T-27A2 BlackJack Riot Supression Rifle, had his 8-guage shotgun holstered to his waist, and had his bladed pole arm strapped to his back. Just as they entered the compound, a group of 10 Rebels met them at the other end of the corridor, Otto moved forward after being motioned by Snake to turn his Supression Rifle on the group. As he fired, he watched the Rebels fall to the floor and the rest of Raiders open fire on the sprawling troopers. Otto glanced beyond the group to see singed storm trooper armor on the floor just beyond the group that had fallen, he ran over and lifted the helmet off the lying corpse, and it was of course PFC Nomar. The poor young man had almost split in two, by what seemed to possibly be a F-Web Heavy Repeating Blaster or maybe a EHWB-10 Heavy Repeating Blaster, but that was irrelivant. He looked up just in time to see a large group of Rebels turn the corner down one end of the intersecting corridor, Otto raised his Supression Rifle but was caught off guard by another group rounding the corner of the opposite end of the corridor. Otto fired his weapon at what then became the ceiling, he originally was aiming at the floor. He flew up and spun flipping, hit the ceiling and almost fell to the ground if it weren't for his pole arm catching on a loose piece of bulk head. He looked up in time to see shards of paristeel fly from the ceiling into some of the Rebel troopers, he moved to grab his 8 gauge shot gun and felt a spark of pain in his back, the blast that threw him into the ceiling had burned through his armor and singed his back, he was already feeling some what light headed and watched his vision begin to blur, then the strap on his polearm broke and Otto crashed to the floor, completing his unconciousness. He then awoke to the calling of his name, but it was not quite a sound, but a thought. he opened his eyes to see Rizzit and Snake staring at him.     "Enjoy your nap?" said Rizz sarcastically "It was more painfull than enjoyable," snapped Otto "How long was I out?"   "A few minutes, maybe ten." said Snake as he placed a Bacta patch on Otto's left shoulder, he had fallen straight on it, gashing it open. "Did we lose any one?" he asked     "No one, besides Nomar of course, but he was a childish fool." contorted Rizz "That's good to know, I suppose you got the information you got him killed for?"     "Of course I did, would I be standing here now if I hadn't?" "No, I suppose not."   "Good, you're thinking," said Snake "Now let's get you up and leave." And with that they walked down the corridor only to find D-13, Cloud and Shadow engaged with Rebel troops. Snake ran to Shadow demanding for an explaination.     "Where did they come from, and why didn't you call us?" he asked "They popped out of no where sir, and we had no real time to contact you, there's too many of them." Shadow replied   "That's why you call for back up Shad." said Otto as he ran passed and hopped in his ESPO 101, automatically aiming the missle launcher at the largest group of Rebel troops, he watched as they blew every which direction.   "I'm goin in!" yelled Rizz as he ignited his lightsabre and slashed at the middle of one of the smaller groups of Rebels. "Good thinking Rizz, Otto, keep them at bay," ordered Snake over the comm. "I'm going to try something...."

The RAIDERS were too busy dealing with the Rebels, to think about what Snake was upto. Snake however, knew exactly what he was doing. Snake was searching for the supply room so that he could hopefully find some thermal detonators, and other explosives. Snake ran into a few Rebels, but not many. He blasted each one while he searched for the supply room. Meanwhile.... ...Otto and Rizzit were dealing with the infinate supply of Rebels that the rest of the squad seemed to find. Rizzit was slashing the Rebels one by one, while blocking most of the shots fired so that no harm would come to Otto or the rest of the squad. The rest of the RAIDERS were firing their stormtrooper rifles, to kill off the Rebels. This was of no avail though. Although they were killing off the Rebels with their shots, the Rebels kept coming. Suddenly, an explosion sent many of the Rebels flying. Snake had let off a number of explosives to destroy 75% of the rebels. He was not in the corridor though, Snake went to the main computer, and realized that there were explosives in the walls to protect them against intruders. "Stupid Rebels." thought Snake. "They have such a weak defense, that I can hack into their system to destroy them. NOW, to destroy this computer." Snake set a number of charges that he found in the stock room around the computer. He set them to blow in 5 minutes. Unfortunately, this was the longest amount of time there was. The computer was also in the center of the base, and the RAIDERS were all around it. He had 5 minutes to get everyone out of the base, and all the walkers away from the outside of the base. This explosion was going to be huge. Snake started the countdown, and ran as fast as he could towards the rest of the RAIDERS squad to get them out of there.

With 5 minutes left, Snake was really pressed for time. Snake ran and ran with all of his might. He had to get to the RAIDERS as fast as he could. There were no Rebels along the way, seeing as how they were all focusing on the area where the explosion was. The clock was ticking, with each second the RAIDERS were closer to their doom. The worst part was that they knew nothing of it, and the guilt was plaguing Snake. When Snake finally got to the RAIDERS 3 minutes had passed. Snake was huffing and puffing, he wanted to catch his breath, but there ws no time. With the 5 troopers firing at the Rebels, and Rizzit slashing away at most of them: he didn't exactly have their undivided attention. "RAIDERS, listen to me! We don't have time to debate this! Clear the building and get back to the base, we only have 2 minutes in which to do this." said Snake. "I won't argue with you. Otto, can u gimme a lift the Rebs kinda destroyed my walker?" replied Rizzit. "Sure Rizz, let's go!" The RAIDERS departed from the Rebel base and boarded all their veichles and raced towards the base. Grizzly decided that seeing he was assigned to ride with Nomar in his walker anyways, he would get his carcass and bring it back to the base in his walker. Needless to say, this slowed him down by a great deal. While trying to keep up with the others, he had stared too late...and was doomed. He needed to be more than 500 feet away from the base and was only like 250. Rizzit began to wonder what was going on, and was going to contact Snake. He couldn't find the communications equipment though, seeing this was not his walker. "Otto, where is your hologram com-link?" asked Rizzit. "Rizz, this is not a walker. Use the regular com-link." "Gotcha." Rizzit turned on the com-link and paged Snake. "Yo! Snake! What's the deal with the rush out?" asked Rizzit. "Well Rizz, I planted several charges inside the core of the base. We need to get as far away from there as possible. That thing won't be around to annoy us anymore." "That's great, but where is Grizzly?" "Uh-oh." As Rizzit and Snake were talking, the charges went off and KABOOM! the base blew up and the explosion killed Grizzly. Rizzit had no idea where he was, and neither did Snake. "Well, do u think he went back to create a disturbance?" asked Rizzit. "Nah, more likely he went to bring Nomar with him. He's gone now, but there is no time to worry about that. Get back to the base, we need to plan our next move and analyze the data you retrieved." replied Snake. "Roger that." Rizzit turned to Otto. "Otto, get to base now! We got work to do." "Understood Rizz." OOC:Shadow? Cloud? Snake? D-13? Is anyone going to post on this story besides me and Otto? Com'on RAIDERS! Let's show activity!

Shadow finished tying a bandana around his arm which kept his new splint straight up against his wound. He had broken his right arm in a nasty skirmish with six Rebels right toward the end of the last confrontation, right before Snake had blown the Rebel building sky high. With that, Shadow walked out of the Raiders' base camp and made his way to two gravestones proturding up from the red clay. Last night Otto and Shadow had dug two fresh graves and buried whatever remains of Nomar and Grizzly they had been able to find. It had been a tiring job, but not only that, Shadow had been deeply saddened by the loss of his two young comrades. Shadow thought back on the time when Nomar and he had been lost deep inside enemy territory and a smile came to his face. The kid had never been much of a fighter, but he had done his job well enough. And that whole ordeal had given Shadow a new sense of leadership and responsibilty. Well, it was his job now to carry on with the good fight, even more so now. He would always carry the memory of these two with him, just like all of the Raiders who had been lost in the past few months. But this time, it was more personal. Something called to Shadow that evening, and that was vengeance. He would take revenge for the deaths of Nomar and Grizzly ... one way or another. Snake sat back in his office and took a sip from his Corellian brandy. They had lost two troopers - the Raiders couldn't afford to lose too many more. Hopefully Stormie and Cosmic would be sending in some new guys as reinforcements soon, but that could never be counted on. So, Snake was back to his core group of fighters - Rizzit, Otto, Shadow, D-13, and the transfer Cloud. Well, they would just have to do for the next mission. Snake knew he was taking a big risk on this next run against the Rebels ... if he didn't lose anyone this time it would be a miracle. But before anything could get done, he needed to get Fury to send down the armor squad's big boy - their AT-AT walker. Suddenly there was a knock at Snake's door. He put his brandy back down on the table, took some folders off his desk and slipped them into a drawer, and asked the visitor to come in. The door opened and Otto stepped into the small room. "Sir, all of us are about to start up a sabacc game in the lounge area and just wanted to know if you want to join us." Snake thought for a minute and saw no reason why he couldn't take a few hours of R&R before the next phase of theri mission began. "All right, I'll be there in just a few moments." Otto stood there for a minute, his eyes closed in meditation. Snake assumed he was reaching out with the Force, trying to feel something. Snake only hoped he wasn't trying to read his mind or something weird like that. "There are two lifeforms approaching from the northwest," Otto breathed suddenly. "And they don't seem like the friendly type." "Fine," Snake replied. "You and Cloud go check it out. But don't be long - we have a sabacc game to play."

Cloud and Otto walked to their vehicles. Cloud was gonna use his heavy STAP and he was letting Otto use his regular STAP. They had to have an edge while going out towards unknown contacts. The STAPs would provide the edge of speed. The two raced toward their targets. As they homed in on the two lifeforms location, Cloud noticed his sorroundings. They trees seemed odd and almost like they were hiding something. "Be ready Otto, I have a bad feeling about this." he radioed over to Otto. "Relax Cloud. This is just a routine thing. We check out the border around the base and check out these two contacts and go home. Easy." Otto responded. They approached the contacts, and to their surprise, saw that they were rebel troops. Cloud did a fly by and then circled around them while Otto landed his STAP and proceeded to investigate the situation. They were unarmed and carried a white cloth. Otto drew his weapon and radioed to Cloud to keep his fingers near the trigger. "Halt. Don't move. You're now prisoners of the Vast Empire." Otto yelled to the rebels from a safe distance. He brought out his comma nd radioed the base for a shuttle to transport them bcak and report back to Snake. "We're unarmed and bring no harm. We're deserters. We wish to not fight anymore and go home." one of them said, the apparent higher ranking one. Otto heard their response, but was baffled. Why would they march toward them in order to go home? Why keep your military gear and armor if you're a deserter? This didn't add up and seemd wrong to Otto now.

"ok, otto, wait for me, i'll bring a walker out there, pick these boys up. we'll have jedi give them a looking at when we get home. he better be quick, i'm waiting for that game." with that Snake hopped into Shadow's AT-ST/A and gunned it full throttle to the coordinates otto had given him. upon arrival, he loaded the two "rebels" into the backseat/cargo area and gunned it home. These boys didn't feel safe, and he wanted to be rid of them as soon as possible. As the base came into view he heard some movenment behind him. one of the captives tried hitting him on the hed while the other wroapped their flag around his neck. He had been a soldier too long tho and his reflexes were too good. he threw his left fist up, and parried the punch, while throwing his head down to get his chin in front of his neck. he hadn't put his armor on, so he fas feeling pretty agile. As the soldiers fist was deflected he caught it with his left hand and twisted it till the wrist broke. during the first set of motions he had stopped the walker. her grabed the flag, knocked both  prisoners out, and tied them up. Otto came on the com "any trouble sir?" "just a little fist fight, but were okay now. lets get back in there otto." snake pulled the walker into the garage, got out, dropped the pirsoners ont he floor, greeted otto and cloud, then told t5hem to drag the prisoners to the lounge. it'd be fun to watch Rizzit find their secrets. ((OOC: sorry it's bad, but ya know i'm kinda in a hurry.))

The "Rebels" were brought to the lounge and thrown in an electronic cell. If they tried to get out of the specified area, they would get hurt....real bad. Rizzit was about to begin, when Snake was calling for him. "Riz, u better make this good. I want something to take my mind of the delayed game!" teased Snake. "Well, if you would let me do my job I would." Rizzit proceded with the interogation. "You both claim that you are deserters, but why did you not get rid of your uniforms?" asked Rizzit. "We wanted to get out quickly. Besides, when you join the Rebellion, all your clothes are burned." replied a Rebel. "Okay, then if you were going home, what were you doing here?" "We were hoping that you would be able to provide us with transport home." "Well, we can't. However you are going to be released." "Rizzit...I give the orders around here." commented Snake. "Relax. I know what I'm doing." replied Rizzit. "Okay the force field is down." The two Rebels walked out of their electronic cells, but the shield was never taken off. The Rebels got shocked, then thrown to another area of the cage. They were going back and forth like a game of pinball. This continued until the Rebels were dead. "Well so much for them." said Rizzit. "See Snake? I know what I am doing." "Yea, I guess so. Oh, well. Get out the cards and chips my troops. Rizzit, as my XO it's your job to go find a suitable band. We will play till daybreak. NOW GET GOING!" ordered Snake. "And what will you do?" asked Otto Vox. "I will supervise the whole operation." commented Snake. Otto got the feeling that he shouldn't have asked that question, but it was too late. The troops went out after the cards and chips, while Rizzit got the band. He found a band of bald guys with black eyes and saxaphones. "This guys look okay." thought Rizzit. Rizzit explained the whole thing to the band and they were more than happy to play. When Rizzit returned, the RAIDERS were all done setting up. Snake showed the band where they could play. The band set up and began playing the Cantina song....much to the approval of Snake. There was only one thing missing...an open bar. Snake called the protocol droid over to serve drinks at the bar. This protocol droid was also a great bartender. With the band playing, and the droid serving drinks....everyone was relaxed. No one was even thinking of their lost comrades. This was a good thing seeing that it was only a matter of time before they came across a thought that would remind them of the tragedies of the day. "Okay Rizzit, you deal. Otto, you pass the chips." said Snake. "Gotcha. I'm winning this one!" Rizzit dealed out the cards and Otto passed out the chips. This was going to be a night unlike any other that they have had for a long time.

Cloud picked up his cards and spread them in his hand. He kept a straight face, like in poker, which he was familiar with, and ordered a Corellian Ale from the droid. It was his turn to bet, so he threw five chips on the table. He was happy when the result was Shadow dropping out as well as Jedi. It was time to see who won. Cloud showed the table his cards, and everyone else followed suit. "Yes, I win the first gaem. It's a sign!" shouted Otto. Everyone glared at him as he heaped his chips in front of him. Rizzit reshuffled to cards and dealt them back out. Before play though, the droid served more drinks. This time Shadow won. And again some more drinks. The night went on like that, sabacc, drinking, swearing, threats, and more drinking. It was great fun. As the night wound down, everyone was about where they started at the beginning of the night. But the last game was at hand and everyone put it all on the line.  Every single chip was in the middle of the table and the band was playing a suspenseful tune. Rizzit was the one to do, call everyone to show their cards. One by one they showed their cards.

OOC: I know I am 13 hours early, but I won't be able to make the meeting tomorrow due to work. I also wanted to get my post in before someone else took my chance. I also expect the rest of you to start posting more often now. This was it: the moment of truth. Rizzit knew he had everyone beat. Then suddenly Rizzit felt a disturbance. He didn't look so well. Otto didn't either. "Otto, Riz, are you guys okay?" asked Snake. "I sense something." replied Otto. "Me too" said Rizzit. "Well? What is it?" asked Snake. "A shuttle is approaching?" said Otto. "More Rebels?" asked Snake. "No, they are imperial. Someone will be joining us." replied Rizzit. "Good. Someone to replace Nomar." said Snake. "One will be leaving as well." said Otto Vox. "Who?" asked Snake. "I'm not sure. It's hard to tell." said Rizzit. Just then the doors to the lounge burst open. There stood an imperial with Stormtrooper armor. It was Private First Class `Strider in the flesh. He held in his hand a holographic message for Snake. "Private First Class Strider reporting for duty sir!" said Strider. "Welcome aboard Strider. I'm just about to beat my squad in Sabbaac now, so if u wanna watch you can." said Snake. "Sir, I think you should see this first." said Strider. "The HC said it was important." "The HC huh? Lesse what they have to say." said Snake. `Strider handed Snake the message and Snake pushed it. The hologram revealed Ambassador Trigit, and he began to speak. "Sargeant Major Snake: I realize that you are enjoying yourself now, and are doing a fine job of leading your squadron. The time has come though, to leave them and advance to a higher position. I will explain the details when you arrive at the main HC building. Right now, pack up and leave. You won't be coming back, so I suggest you appoint a new SL." The hologram then came to a close. Snake had a shocked look on his face, words couldn't describe it. Then after about 5 minutes of everyone staring at him, he came around. "Well, I suppose I had better pack." said Snake as he left for his quarters. "I know I shouldn't, but I had best follow him." said Rizzit as he went after Snake. Rizzit went in his Commanding Officer's Quarters to find him rushing to get packed. Snake had almost finished. "Boy, when you pack, you get  the job done fast!" exclaimed Rizzit. "Rizz, what are you doing here?" demanded Snake. "Well, I thought you might want some moral guidance." said Rizzit. "After all, what are XO's for?" "Well Riz, you are no longer my XO." replied Snake. "I realize that sir. I will be under someone else's command now." "Not really. Rizzit: you have made me proud. You all have. I hate to leave, but I gotta. You especially have gone above and beyond the call of duty. That is why you will succeed me as Squad Leader." "Thank you sir. I will do my best to live up to the duty." "I know that you will." "I want you to know, I won't let your memory fade away. You and Cosmic will always have a place here with the Raiders." "I Know. Rizz, you better get used to a big office, because that is what your going to have now." Snake teased. "Yea, but just think of yours" said Rizzit as he cracked a smile. "Yea I know. Well, that is everything I must be going. I will see you again I am sure Rizz. Don't forget, I still gotta beat you in that game of Sabbaac." "I won't. I think it will be the other way though." The two went back out into the lounge. Snake was all prepared to go with his levitating suitcases and all. The RAIDERS were all anxious to know when the game would be finished, and who the new Squad Leader would be. "Rizzit will succeed me as Leader of the RAIDERS. I will miss you all. `Strider, you won't be needing that shuttle of yours, so I am taking it." said Snake. "No problem." said `Strider. "Good. Rizz, don't let me down. May the Force be with you." With that, Snake departed and the RAIDERS had their new leader. Rizzit was silent for a moment then said something. "Well I guess there is no time for celebration. There is much work to be done. Get some rest, I will see you all at 8 tomorrow. You have a full night's sleep that way." "What about your XO?" asked Shadow. "You will have my decision in the morning. `Strider, you may sleep in my quarters for tonite. The new XO will take over them tomorrow though." replied Rizzit. "Understood." "Good night all. I will pack it up and you go to sleep." The RAIDERS retired to their quarters, and they showed `Strider to his temporary quarters. Rizzit picked up the mess, and he sent the band away. After turning the lights off, he retired to Snake's old quarters. And he thought as he went to bed, "Will I be able to fullfil my duties? Will Snake be able to fullfill his." The next day there was work to do. Rizzit had chosen his XO. Otto Vox was going to be his advisor seeing as he was always the most helpful. Rizzit called the whole squad to the lounge to annonce this. "Good morning troops! I hope you slept well, there is much work to do. We have to analyze the data from the Rebel Computers: Shadow, I want you to do that. Cloud: Assist him. I know you are all wondering about who my XO will be, and I have indeed made a decision. My new XO will be Otto Vox. He is the most worthy person in the Squad, and I am sure will make a fine advisor. ALso, I want `Strider to go with  D-13 and find us a shuttle that will hold us all. Take the small skyhopper shuttle we have in the Hangar. Otto, you and me will plan our strategies for the upcoming attack. The Alliance's days are numbered." said Rizzit. "Thank you for the honnor." said Otto Vox. "I won't let you down." "See to it that you don't. Now, to my office." "Agreed." The two departed to Rizzit's office seeing he had no time to move furniture now. The rest of the squad performed duties that were assigned to them. They were all preparing to finish off the Rebels. OOC: If I left out a name, I am sorry. It wasn't done intentionally. One other note, Jedi is Rizzit, there are not two of them. Thanks.

OOC: Conrats Rizzit and Otto. Do us proud boys. Cloud walked along side his buddy Shadow toward the squad's communications room. As they approached, Shadow looked around and then entered, suspicous of everything. The datathe were looking at was top secret and Shadow made sure he was extra careful. "Well, let's get to it." Cloud said as he inserted the disk into the main computer. Shadow sat down at its console and began working. After about five minutes, he got up, checked the doors and every corner of the room. "Relax pal." Cloud said. "Can never be too careful Cloud. Remember that." Shadow stated. He sat back down and began working again. Cloud sat at another terminal, trying to decode the data. Shadow ran every known  text code the computer had on the data and it still produced nothing. Cloud used a different kinds of codes, like musical and vioce codes. Both provided no results. After they did what they could, Cloud became restless. "Want some coffee? I'm gonna get some food and coffee." Cloud asked his partner. "Yeah. Bring me back a sandwhich. I'm gonna run some tests on the data. Hurry back, and be careful." he replied, as Cloud opened the door and waved farewell. Shadow got up and locked the door behind him.

Otto and Rizzit sat hunched over a holo image of the surrounding area of the planet. This had been about their 4th hour in the room. They had execution points all over, but none seemed right. Finally, Rizzit nudged Otto's brain to look at a somewhat out of the way area of the map, and it suddenly clicked. "If we plant ourselves this far behind their base," said Otto "we could slip into the forest unseen, and attack from behind."     "Exactly." agreed Rizzit They then put the info on a data pad and walked back into the Raiders meeting room. They commed every one and got them to come back and relay their information before giving out their orders. Unfortunatly, the time that they planned their attack had to be delayed, for a transport could not be sent until 48 hours of their request. So it looked like it was off to finish that game of Sabacc.....

Rizzit went to find the rest of the squad to see if they could finish their game of Sabaac. He found shadow on his way to the mess hall, and was looking for more to play. Cloud didn't want to play seeing that he was ALWAYS eating. `TJ joined in as did `Strider. Otto was willing to play as long as they went easy on them. Cloud finally finished eating an hour later and asked to play. With everyone set they were about to play until...

Strider's natural danger sense kicked in. "Guys, get down there, I'll find some high ground to snipe them."he said, taking intiative. "What about someone to cover you, Strider?"-asked Otto. "I can handle myself sir, I don't carry two vibroblades for nothing." answered Strider "Right, find a safe spot and stay there, once they're all cleared we'll contact you to come down and help us hit the compound." said Rizzit. "Acknowleged, sir." Strider found a small alcove overlooking the rebel compound. If they can find me here, they deserve to capture me. he thought. Strider looked through the scope at rebel soldier trying to ambush Otto. He smiled as he took his shot with his sniper rifle and shot the rebel dead on in the back of the head. "Good shot, Private, thanks." said Otto over the com link. "My pleasure, sir."answered Strider. OOC: THere you are guys, my first post on the story!

OOC: Thanks for makin me look like I can't play Sabacc worth a penny Rizz. Otto wondered how he hadn't sensed the Rebel that Strider had just shot. But right then and there, he couldn't worry about that. Rebel troops had some how gotten through the perimiter sensors with out alerting the squad. And there were alot of them. Otto looked around and saw that his ESPO was still in the vicinity. He looked up and saw three Rebels beginning to move in on where D-13 was croutched. He reached out with the Force and pulled each Rebel's feet out from under them. One let out a cry, the other let a blaster bolt loose, flying into the sky and hitting nothing but air. Otto commed to D.   "Get up and shoot those bastards!!" "Yessir!" He hopped up and blasted each Rebel square in the chest. Meanwhile Otto ran to his ESPO and hopped in the pilots seat. Flipped it on and began blasting away the rebels.   "Every one with walkers get in them and get a second on the top for secondary gunning!!!" ordered Rizz over the comm as he jumped onto the top of Otto's ESPO with aid from the Force. Otto tossed up his Armor Piercing blaster rifle to Rizzit. They began firing at every Rebel in sight, getting the job of cleanin 'em up twice as fast. Unfortunetly the Rebels just kept on comin......

Cloud loked at Shadow adn they both nodded to each other. Almost simitanilously they both ran straight towards their AT-ST/A. Cloud jumped in the co-polit's seat and Shadow in the pilot's. Cloud fired up the engine while Shadow brought up the targeting computer. Their walker eased out of the base and towards the heart of the Rebels formation, blasting and destroying everything in its path. "We're going for the center Riz." Shadow commed to the squad commander. "OK, good luck." he responded. Once they reached the center of the Rebel's position, they ran into some big guns, light assualt tanks. "Riz, this is Cloud. They've got a couple tanks amidst them." he said as he painted one red and fired. He was rewarded as it blow into an orange fireball and fell to the ground in a heap of burning metal. "Looks like about 10, well 9 now sir. We could use some help in here." responded Shadow as Cloud destoryed another tank. Shadow danced the AT-ST/A around the tanks to avoid their fire, but it wouldn't last. Eventually one tank would hit home and they would be gone. Shadow wasn't that lucky or that good of a driver. As Cloud targeted a Rebel tank, it fired first and scorched a nearby tree, throwing his lock off, and damaging the targeting system. "Pull back Shadow, that last hit jolt messed up the targeting. We've got to repair it." Shadow looked around then said, "Switch me. You drive, I've got an idea." Cloud looked at his friend, but got up and took over the controls. Shadow powered up the guns again and fired off into the fray of battle. The bolts were way off target, but that was ok. Cloud could tell what his new gunner was doing, figuring out how off the targetting was. Finally Shadow got the hang of the disfunctional guns and took out a light tank. A loud ringing jarred through their ears, as the enemy lock alarm blared; one of the Rebels had gotten a lock on them and was getting ready to fired. Before it could, a bright green lasre bolt struck its armor and pentrated it; sending up a giant flame of heat and energy.

Strider picked off rebel after rebel with his sniper rifle. He shot four rebels in a row when Otto called him on the Com link. "Strider, get down here ASAP, we're storming the compound." "Acknowleged sir, on my way down." said the PFC Strider packed up his sniper rifle and pulled out his Standard issue E-11. Even with this weapon Strider was deadly accurate and kept shooting down rebel soldiers as he made his way down to the compound. Once he got there Rizzit barked out assignment orders "Otto, Strider, you take the front, The rest of the troopers and I will follow you." he said. Everybody nodded and Strider blasted the door controls grinning, as the door hissed open. "That's one way to solve that problem."Otto laughed. "Cloud, Shadow, cover us long enough to move around slowly in here, if you get 'em all come help us out." Rizzit said. "Roger sir." answered Shadow. The group entered the compound. It was time to stick it to these rebel insurgents.

As the squad moved through the halls, TJ began to sense an oncoming danger. They all were expecting it of course, entering into a small rebel stronghold was bound to contain rebels and threats. But...this felt different, though he had not yet completely figured what these feelings were telling him. While the squad prepared to turn another corner, TJ paused and stood where he was. No-one noticed until he was a few yards back from the rest of the squad. “Teej? You OK?” Rizzit questioned looking back at him. He was no longer moving, just standing there. “Teej?”, Rizzit asked again. At this, TJ shook out of his thoughts. “Sir, I’m feeling a disturbance....a large number of rebels approaching.” He answered. “We’re in a rebel compound TJ, what do ya expect?” “No Sir, it’s different...I feel like they are coming from behind....from outside of the compound. Shadow and Cloud could soon be overwhelmed, sir.” “I don’t feel this threat you’re talking about, but what do you suggest we do about it?” “I am going to go back and help them hold off the attack...with warning, they may be able to prepare for the ambush and stop it.” “All right, get going” With that, TJ took off back down the hallways........

D-13 spotted a security cam pointing right at them and the alarm sounded. "There goes our surprise." said Otto. A hit squad of rebels appeared and engaged with the Raiders. They returned a few shots and took cover behind some old wall panels. Elsewhere, Cloud and Shadow had their own problems. The two troopers found themselves without communication. "Oh crap, no comm.", exclaimed Cloud. "Must be a magnetic field generator nearby, lets go find it." As TJ had predicted, the rebs ambushed the two. Cloud spotted a rebel carrying a magnetosphere generator pack. "There!", he shouted. TJ came outside just in time to start another firefight. He spotted the magneto man and shot him, right in the lungs. With covering fire from Cloud and Shadow, he sneaked around and grabbed the pack. A little tech magic and he reversed the ion code. The rebs paused a second to tap their microphones. "Where's HC?",shouted one of them. The troopers took advantage of this and shot them all. TJ grinned and said," This is TJ, situation under control, resume attack plan.......   ----------------------- TRP/CPL D-13/3SQD/1PLT/1COMP/1BAT/Lorn IV/VEA

"Strider, I don't know how you do sniping as well as you do, but by Palpatine's soul, it's amazing." said Rizzit. "Yeah, that was amazing back there. How do you see them all so well." asked Otto. "I don't know. Just have good eyes I guess." answered the young PFC. "Well... effective immediately, you're promoted to Lance Corporal and given all privileges there of. Good work, soldier. Now watch your back... I sense enemy soldiers nearby." Strider nodded and saluted his commander. His own danger sense told him they were coming. Strider gripped his E-11 tightly and shot down charging rebels. One shot hit him in the leg, but he was alright.

Rizzit dug into a pocket of his stormtrooper armor and pulled out what looked out a wristwatch. He looked at for a while and noticed a green light. Rizzit pressed a button on it, and the light went red. When this happened, all of the RAIDERS were transported back to their base. "What happened?" asked Otto Vox. "We were fighting Rebels one minute. Now, it looks like we're ready to play Sabaac." "Yea. How did we get back here?" said `Strider in agreement. "Settle down." said Rizzit. "Allow me to explain." "Good." said Shadow. "Cause you really need to." Rizzit realized that his troops were not going to rest until he told them. He began to slowly speak. "Well....what you were in was a simulator. It is currently in the beta phase right now. I tested you all to make sure that you would be ready to take on the challenge that lies ahead." said Rizzit. "So...does my promotion still stand?" asked `Strider. "Yes, `Strider." Rizzit said with a smile. "Your promotion still stands." "I have a question." said Otto Vox. "How did we get into a simulator without going into a simulator room?" Rizzit held out his wristwatch. "The simulator is activated only by the press of this button. It affects all people in the room. It needs much work, so don't think of messing with it as of yet. I want to fix it so that the RAIDERS get affected....and only the RAIDERS." The RAIDERS stood around amazed and confused. Shadow was the first to speak. "So, does this mean that one of us could get trapped in there?" asked Shadow. "Yes. That is why it needs much work. Until I can perfect it, it cannot be tampered with. Which reminds me, are we all here?" responded Rizzit. Rizzit looked around and noticed that all of them were there...except for MegaMan and Lucifer. "Ah....it seems as if we have lost two. I fear...that we will have to retrieve them." said Rizzit. "How are we supposed to do that?" asked `Strider. "There is a machine in my office that can take them out. They could be dead by now though." replied Rizzit. "Why? It's only a simulator." asked Cloud. "Well, when I exited the simulator, whoever was left became data. If the data was dead, when I retrieve them they will be dead." said Rizzit. "Well, do we go in after them?" Otto Vox questioned. "No. This machine will bring them to us....or at least their bodies." said Rizzit. "We should at least retrieve them. They deserve a propper burial if they are dead." said `Strider. "You're right. Follow me." Rizzit said. Rizzit lead the 6 RAIDERS to his office. When he got there, he unveiled a black capsule. He turned it on and hoped for the best. "This machine will remove all data that was recently added after the simulator was shut off. If they are alive, they will appear lying down then get up. If they are dead, they won't get up. Let's pray for the best." The machine beeped and whirred at an extremely fast rate. Smoke started to appear and it smelled like something was burning. "Rizz, don't u think you should shut that off?" asked Cloud. "No, we gotta get the two of them back!" Rizzit replied. The machine stopped making noise. There was a flash of light, and the two bodies appeared before the squad. They were completely motionless. "Rizz, are they okay?" asked Otto Vox. "Im not sure Otto. We'll just have to wait and see." replied Rizzit. The squad stood staring at the bodies as if they were something never before seen. Nothing was happening and they were beginning to lose all hope of reviving them....

"Wait a minute." said Strider holding back anger. "Do you mean to tell me that you turned their brains into datastreams, and only the computer can determine whether or not they come back?" Rizzit frowned. "Yes, Corporal, that is exactly what I mean to tell you." Strider almost strangled his commander, but restrained himself. "So essentially you're saying it could have been any one of us trapped with our brains in a datastream?" asked Otto. "Yes, Otto. I should have made sure it was safe before I put you all in; I know, but I had no time. We needed to train as quickly as we could." Rizzit answered. ::Two hours later Strider was watching over his comrades when Rizzit walked in. "How are they, Corporal?" asked the commander. "The same sir. Their brain wave patterns show the same." Strider grimaced and held back anger again. Rizzit could see how distraught this was making him. It wasn't fair to the young Corporal to see this kind of thing so early in his career. "I know how upsetting this must be for you, Strider. But war is not without casualties, whether they can be prevented or not. It's those that make the ultimate sacrifice for their cause that are the heroes, no matter how much you miss them. These two... they'll teach us that we need to improve." said Rizzit. At that point, the two soldiers coded. Nothing could now be done to revive them, except a miracle. Strider tried something. The young soldier tried to get the computer to download the datastreams directly into the brains. It worked. The brainwave patterns of both soldiers stabilized. Now it was only a matter of hours before they awoke. "Good job, Strider! How did you do that?" asked Rizzit in shock. "I don't know, sir. I just went off on a whim and tried it." answered Strider. "You've saved these men's lives. When they wake up, they owe you big."Rizzit said. "Yes sir, I know. They'd have done the same for me if they could have." Rizzit nodded and relieved Strider of watch duty. "Get some rest, Corporal. You look like you need it." Rizzit ordered "I will, sir. Thanks." Strider saluted and walked back to his quarters half smiling, half grimacing. War was terrible to him, but he was a soldier, and he wanted to help his cause however he could.

Shadow collapsed onto his matress and heaved a big sigh. All of the events of the past day had really begun to numb his mind; it was good to get away for a little while. The rest of the Raiders were down at the lounge celebrating Strider's "resurrection" of Lucifer and MegaMan, but Shadow was never one to participate in any kind of large social gathering, despite the hounding of Otto and Cloud.   The young soldier removed his two swords and laid them down next to his bed before rolling over onto his back to stare straight up at the ceiling. After the last campaign he had bought a holoprojector and attached it to the wall space directly above his head. All day, everyday, whenever he was lying there on his bed, Shadow could look up and see stars twinling above his head. No matter how hectic things got outside of that room, he could always steal away to his bed and look up at the view of his home system that he left on the projection screen day and night.     A frown arose on the young warrior's face. He was getting a little too sentimental for even his own tastes. Next thing he knew, he'd be strolling down to the lounge and buying a round of drinks for his fellow troopers.     The frown turned up at the corners into a barely-recognizable smile. No, Shadow didn't think he'd desecended that far into the realm of feelings. He didn't plan to buy anyone anything for quite some time if he could help it.     Lying there, gazing up at the stars as if he were outside laying in the cold green grass, the young man's eyes began to get heavier and heavier as the weights of the world settled down upon them. Shadow strained to find something to think about, anything to get his mind off of the exhaustion that was hijacking his body. But it was no use - there was so much to worry about that there was nothing at all to dwell upon. Finally he gave in to the sandman and drifted off into what seemed to be a carefree sleep.     When D-13 entered the barracks room later that evening, he wasn't at all surprised to find Shadow there; he was surprised to see the man sleeping. In all of their months together in the squad, Dee had never known the older soldier to go to bed this early at night. Oh well, he thought, the poor Sarge must be worn out from everything that's happened today. At least he doesn't have a stomach - and a liver - full of liquor to worry about. Letting out a long-surpressed yawn the trooper changed into his nightclothes and dug in under his covers for a good night's sleep.   Shadow tossed and turned in his sleep, kicking the blankets from off of his half-clothed body. If D-13 had had as sharp as hearing as the older man he might have been awoken by Shadow's mumbling. But seeing as how that wasn't the case, Shadow's roommate remained fast asleep. Behind his veiled eyelids, somewhere inside his steel trap of a mind, the blademaster's nightmares were beginning to resurface.   ***Shadow glanced over at one of the four tables in the Cafe. Yes, his partner was there waiting for him. Really, would it have been any other way? The young man shook his head, trying to clear his thoughts. Baram hadn't noticed him come in yet, so there was no need to head over there just yet. Surveying the room with his keen eyes, the apprentice swordsman strolled casually up to the barkeeper.***   For some reason, Shadow knew he should have remembered the man's name. But there was a total lack of recall now. Where was he, anyway? The name came to him in a soft whisper, drawn somewhere from deep within his subconciousness, from somewhere he had never wished to revisit. Kohilingen   ***Shadow looked around slowly. Was someone watching him? No, no one at all. Strange, he had been sure he felt eyes on his back. A part of him wished he hadn't left Interceptor in Thamasa. To tell the truth, none of that mattered now. He stepped foward and laid his arms to rest on one of the bar stools.    "Hey there, Clyde, what can I get you?"   For some reason that name came as no shock to the young man. He raised his head up to respond to the barkeep, when suddenly an old memory stirred in his mind.***   Shadow awoke with a start and looked around himself. The feeling that someone was watching him overrode all of his emotions. He huddled up underneath his quickly recovered blankets and stared around the room.   No, there was no one there except D-13. Shadow cocked his head to one side and then back to the next, but the only sounds he heard were Dee's faint snores and his own heavy breathing. He must have been having a nightmare.   Now that had not happened in a long time. Taking one more careful glance around the room, Shadow picked up one of his swords and slipped out of the room. He felt like talking to someone, and who better to listen to his troubles now than Interceptor? A faint sense of anger stirred in him because he couldn't keep his beloved canine in the room with him. He'd have to bring that up to Rizzit sometime ... but not now.   On his way outside to Interceptor's luxuriant doghouse, a trace odor caught the young trooper's acute sense of smell. Unsure of what it was, Shadow drew in a deep breath and nearly gagged. Burnt flesh! He glanced around through the darkness and noticed that one of the doors in the hallway was slightly ajar. Doing his best to avoid breathing in again, he stealthily made his way over to the room and peered inside.   His battle-hardened eyes met with a gruesome sight there in the supposed safety of the Raiders' base. A lesser man might have emptied several previous meals right there on the spot. Scattered across the floor of the room were the remains of two of Shadow's fellow troopers, the two men that the others had been toasting to earlier that night. He wasn't sure at first, but after a closer examination Shadow had no doubt that the horrific remains were from the bodies of MegaMan and Lucifer.   Someone - or something - had torn the two men limb from limb and worse. On top of that, the bloody bits of flesh and bone and been singed with flame; there wasn't much that smelled worse than burning human hair and flesh. Shadow was amazed that no one else had smelt the putrid stench yet. Obviously this violent act had just occurred.   A faint warning leapt up in the back of the young man's mind that he might be held accountable for this. After all, he hadn't come to the two mens' party that evening. Determind to avoid any kind of false blame, Shadow made his way toward Rizzit's quarters. The squad leader would not be happy to hear about this at three in the morning. Shadow only hoped it didn't have anything to do with that botched training experiment from earlier.   Or maybe he did hope that. After all, that would be an easy explanation. Anything beyond that could lead into dangerous territory.     Shadow punched a nearby wall with his fist. He should've known something like this was going to happen the instant he had awakened from that dream. His nightmares were always bad omens - always.
