Generally...the age things for our characters, its not working out.
I mean, someone cant be in their twenties, and be an officer or something. Or for instance, Aeos is a Gunnery Sergeant, yet she is 23.

I was thinking,

What if Kadann or someone programmed like a little tool into the code for our age? We enter it in, and it can't be changed by ourselves again.

Now, we know that the chapters in general takes a long time to happen or to be completed.
So, when the High Command decided when they think a year has passed in the VE timeline, they just age everyone by default on the site...

I know, I could just edit my own age, but how does it look when I started out younger than someone's character in a Char Dev story, and in the next one, I'm older?

Perhaps it's about time we broke away from the whole "Thrawn Era" thing and just ran with our own timeline? We can just progress in Real Time, and since we are removed from the wider galactic politics we can pretty much do what we want, and then if we just keep an eye on whats happening in the Canon timeline, we can just drop in references of stuff that has happened, or do a VE-wide story if something that should affect us as well happens.

I'm with Doc on this one.  With the game set in 9 ABY, I figured every character's stated age is the age they are in 9 ABY.  I've been developing my character's Bio & LifePath/Timeline accordingly.

As for Aeos's statement at the beginning; under normal circumstances I would agree with her.  When Palpatine died 'normal' as Imperals knew it blew up with the Death Star II.  Order collapsed, chaos reigned, Officers & Politicians became Warlords.  Promotions & executions came and went like wildfire.  The system wasn't entirely fair under Palpatine; under the various warlords it got so much worse.

When HC turns the calendar to 10 ABY, whether or not to implement a system to automatically update all bios, it would occur less than once a year as realtime & gametime progress differently.

Perhaps it would be easiest to simply flag all current members as X__X in 9 ABY and a fact page with partial timeline for new members to orient themselves, prior to making their character[or at least the bio].  New members joining in 10 ABY get their character flagged as age X in 10 ABY.

As for timeline & plot progression; technically Vast Empire is Infinities as our faction isn't 'canon' and HC can go virtually in any direction they want.  So whatever we do after [if] Thrawn bites it things can get real interesting.  Especially if Thrawn survives  Will it be a new Imperial Civil War?  Or a New Grand Empire?

Perhaps we need a bit of a "reset".

State a specific point in Game-time for things to truly start, and simply label everything that has happened before it as ambiguous.

We can then implement a means of time progression from there.
