There's nothing silly about Dark Empire; besides, Kadann need not relinquish power. We could be one of the factions that does not recognize the reborn Emperor and could substitute in the Byss Empire for Thrawn as a foe...Of course it could be decided that the events of Dark Empire after the NR retaking of Coruscant are simply not mentioned... To be honest, I find the Canon in the books more realistic then the Comics. If you think about it, the Galaxy Gun and the Eclipse (Bar the appearence in the FOC expansion) appear in the comics.
I suggest we stick to the books, which are much cooler.
NJO was alright, I mean the Vong are a bit random, but what they did with it was alright. LOTF is a bit poo...especially where they are going with it.
I also hated the random choosing of Caedus' name, just like the chosing of Vaders name, i mean come on, two of the biggest badasses around, and they pick their names out of a hat?

Ya gotta' admit, Dante's got one helluva point. The slave-rigged Katana Fleet had a live crew who got sick with a hive-virus, went ape-poodoo bonkers, then took the fleet jumping blindly & randomly through hyperspace till everyone killed each of, starved to death or died from the virus. Ick!
Each World Devastator had its own AI, and they made the jumps through Hyperspace just fine.
BTW, the VE does have Eclipse-class SSDs; just go to the ICS & look under Capital Ships in Capital Ship (Command). Since the only one made sold is not listed in either the Army or Navy Roster I can only conclude that it was bought by High Command or the DJO. But we mere underlings are not to know of such things, L0L 
On another note, shouldn't there be more variety in the Capital Ship (Command) section? I'll have to look into that.... The comics may be canon, but since we're going to bulldoze through some canon anyway, i'd rather we bulldoze the comics.
And the LOTF author's (there's three of them) themselves are actually good writers. Karen Travis for instance is a legend, but the whole plot line itself is rather weak.

Speaking of the Katana fleet, we already altered those events. Can't recall exactly how, but less ships survived or something. As for the Eclipse, most likely just there for show, I doubt we technically employ it Heck, Kad owns the one ring and we don't use it Thing is, we run a parallel storyline to the cannon. Sure we follow it somewhat, but we use it as a guide. Branch off quite a bit, but tangent back on it when we need some events from outside our little Empire. |

I mean in the actual films C. I'm sure the OOC reason for chossing Vader was sound, but if you recall:
"You are ready to take your place at my side (or something like that) from hence forth, you shall be known as Darth......Vader"
Which roughly translates into:
"Erm....what shall we call you....erm...how about.......Vader? Yeh? That work you you big guy? Cool....Vader it is...."
And again, at the end of...whichever book it is that Jason chooses his name:

Sorry 'bout that Aeos This thread is about our Characters aging as the VE progresses. On that note my Bio reads "Age: 20 [in 9 ABY]" which also implies ages of friends & family listed are that age in 9 ABY as well.
The 'fact' our faction "Vast Empire" exists automatically makes us Infinities, not canon: any further discussion regarding VE's possible futures, what EU elements should be considered for adapting or using or not should start a new thread.

The eclipse belongs to FES, if I remember right.
Dark Empire is silly. That's all I have to say about it. World Devastators I could handle, didn't like 'em, but I can handle 'em. The Eclipse, reborn emperors and especially the galaxy gun are silly. Always will be silly and shall never stop being silly. I mean why did they even shape the galaxy gun like a gun when it shoots self guided missiles? They could point it the other direction and still hit what they're aiming at. It is silly. I say we go tromping through as much canon as we please, I'm completely OK with using the Thrawn Trilogy and the movies as the main references and anything else we use for minute details, such as people and maybe things that happened in the past, but leave out the major happenings. However I think a course of action has already been determined. In fact Fury has a post about it on the main army comnet. I believe he states that we'll most likely ignore the dark empire series. I like to think it's because he has sense and realizes they're silly.
Anyway. As for characters aging, it's actually a good idea. We wouldn't age fast, or in real time, but after every chapter or a series of chapters a 'year' could be ticked off on our profiles. It wouldn't automatically update each year, just something Kad-man could change the value of and it would pop the whole VE up a year. Of course this would probably be fairly work intensive and possibly not worth the effort. An alternative would be a post on the main or something telling everyone a year has passed, age your damn characters. {Comnet Hermit}

I really don't like how they're suggesting its going to end. I was hoping for an actual final showdown between Jacen and Luke, but it looks like he's going to chicken out and Jaina is going to do it, which is stupid because she hasn't really been in it up till now, about from that whole Alema Ra thing.
And i don't know if i like were the whole canon story is going either, as the "Legacy" era doesn't look that good either.
