Story 1: Basic Electronics/Wiring

Hellra sat on the floor cursing as she sucked her injured thumb. A small smell of burned plastic filled the air.
"Bluddy wires" said Hellra out loud not paying heed to her surroundings.
"All well, no problems here I presume?" asked an officer over her shoulder.
Hellra silently cursed as she jumped to attention.
"No problems here Sir" she said with confidence.
"Oh, good, can I expect this to be finished soon than?" asked the officer.
"Oh yes sir, no difficulties at all" answered Hellra, inwardly panicking.
"Carry on" with that said the officer walked out of the small room that Hellra was busy in. It wasn't a room exactly.

It was one of the training simulators used for training pilots. At the moment however it could not used for training, as one pilot got so frustrated at the simulator for being so difficult, that he pulled out his hand blaster and shot it at the steering stick. His trainer was not impressed. And now Hellra was stuck with the tiring task of fixing the mess. Her commanding officer said she should have no problem with this, as it was only basic wiring and electronics.
The room was dimly lit, so Hellra was forced bring a small portable light with her.

Hellra raised the flashlight to have another look at what she is supposed to, the blue light flashed in the metal that was exposed to it.
She will have to cut the burned plastic out first in order to get to the inner workings of the wiring of the stick. Hellra scratched her head.
Was she supposed to unscrew the whole outer panel or just cut out the damaged bit?
"I knew I should have listened in class when we were talking about this" grumbled Hellra. She ran a thumb across the melted pieces. A piercing pain made its way yet again across her thumb.
"Ouch!" Hellra let out a few words that didn't fit her. She lifted her thumb closer for inspection.

"Great, now I am qualified to say both my thumbs an injured"

Hellra slouched against the wall. She ran her one hand through her hair out off nature. Realizing her glasses were dirty she took them off. She winced at the sudden light penetrating her eyes. Closing her eyes she quickly cleaned her dark glasses before sliding them back over her eyes.

Hearing someone nearing Hellra quickly rushed back to working, a few minutes later a droid entered the room
Hellra turned around to look who it is.
"Droid C1, how nice of you to join me" said Hellra sarcastic as she continued to fiddle with the wires peeling from the steer sticks inside. The droid was small build, and had two small wheels to get around.

"That. Looks. Very. Easy." Said the droid in his start-stop formed sentences.
"Oh yes, it should be easy for you since you are made of wires!" said Hellra getting angry.
"Look here Droid C1--" Hellra was however cut short when the droid suddenly interrupted her.
"I. Am. Not. Droid. C. 1" said the driod, Hellra swore she could see the driod smirk, but that is impossible since droids can't smirk.
Hellra peered closely at the inscriptions that were printed on the driod.
"Oh your name is G7...oops" said Hellra unfazed; she turned back to her work.

As Hellra worked she could feel the droid's penetrating stare on her back. She couldn't concentrate; she wasn't really concentrating before anyway but still...
"Do you mind?" said Hellra with irritation in her voice.
"Mind?" asked the droid confused
"Yeah, like leaving me alone?"  Asked Hellra almost pleadingly now
without a sound the droid left leaving Hellra the sore business of untangling the wires.

Once again Hellra leaned against the wall sighing in boredom. Her hand went up running through her hair once more. She sighed again. She looked over to the mess she made with the wires. She hated working with wires. There was a time when she would have loved it. Her thoughts drifted to her past, she was only ten. Two years before she ran away from home. She and her friends who were mostly boys made bets that could endure electrical shocks best. They had a big competition and she thought it would be best to train for it, improve her stamina. She decided she must electrify herself.
One problem, she didn't own one of those little machines to shock herself.

Hellra made a very foolish decision. She will electrify herself through the plugs. The plugs had one hole where she pushed a wet piece of wire through. The pain was unbearable; she felt numb and couldn't move at all. Her father found her and pulled her away from the plug and wire.

The doctors of the hospital where her father had rushed her said it was a miracle she survived. After this electrifying incident Hellra lost her sense of touch, not completely but she wasn't so sensitive when she got burned or hurt anymore.

"Aren't you suppose to be working?" asked a voice interrupting Hellra's thoughts.
Hellra looked up alert.
She relaxed when she saw it was only a secretary but got up none the less.
"Yes I properly should, answered Hellra miserably. Just looking at the wires and thinking about the basic rules of electrons made her want to scream.
The secretary crouched on the floor to have a look at the wires.
"Oh my, quite a mess you made, said the secretary worriedly, she wasn’t worried about the wires. That could be fixed easily. She was worried about Hellra. If her commanding officer found this he won't be pleased.

"Have looked at your instruction manual, there is a chapter about basic wiring and electronics" suggested the secretary; Hellra gave her a thankful look as she stormed out of the room to find her manual.

Out of breath Hellra arrived at her small closet. She opened it and begun to rummaged through it. Her closet was a mess, a bigger mess than her wires. After a few minutes of fruitless searching, Hellra remembered that she packed it with her other books in her bedside cabinet. She shared a room with two other girls. Hellra jerked her small bedside cabinet door open, crammed full of books. She couldn't get luckier; it was right on top of all her books. Before Hellra exited her room she had one lost look around. While her other two roommates sides were neat and tidy, Hellra's side represented complete chaos.

"The sergeant will kill me, mumbled Hellra to herself. Indeed he would, her bed was not made, and she overslept as usual and didn't even have time to pack her clothes in her closet.

"Connect the blue wire to port D" Hellra was mumbling the instructions as she untangled the wires from each other. She felt much more confident in what she was doing now. About two hours flew by. Hellra was on the brim off finishing. She still had to connect one last wire.

"That. Took. You. Very. Long"
Hellra turned from her crouched position from the floor to the droid
"Oh it’s you again" she said to Droid G7, G7 turned its half moon head looking around the room.
"You know why it took so long?" asked Hellra happily, nothing could spoil her mood. She didn't give G7 a chance to answer her&
"Because it has bigger brains that you"
The driod ignored her comment as he moved closer to her.
Hellra watched him out of the corner of her eye.

"That. Port. Should. Be. Connected. To. The. Blue. Wire. Not. The. Red. Wire." Said G7 as he inspected the neatly placed wires that lined each other now. Hellra felt her self-control slipping once more. She flipped her book open to see if he was right, he was. This meant she would have to unplug at least fifteen wires to correct this one mistake.

A small yell went through the air, and blue sparks filled it. Hellra looked down smugly at her handiwork. She punched G7 in his weak spot, the area where his stomach is supposed to be. Good thing he wasn't a fighting droid, or she would have been in big trouble and wouldn't have been able to punch hi. Hellra rubbed her sore fist&
"Wow even the messenger droids are made of stronger materials today" mumbled Hellra.

Another few hours later Hellra's commanding officer checked in where she was working. He saw her sitting against the wall writing something on a notepad.
Hellra saw his shadow. She jumped from her sitting position against the wall in attention.

"You are finished?" asked the officer
"Yes Sir, I am just finishing my report to you" said Hellra
The officer took the notepad from Hellra's hand. His eyes glided over it.
"Good" said the officer as he walked over to the dashboard with its melted steering stick.
"Sir we will need to replace some parts though, I could only connected and sort the wires for a real mechanic to work here, I reconnected the holographs and also the head sets with the speakers in the other control room, some wires will have to be replaced, I could fix a few ones who weren't damaged enough" said Hellra.

"Yes I see, the damage is much worse than I thought, said officer, he stepped around in the small room. He stopped at the still sparking body of Driod G7
"And this?" asked the officer curiously
"He malfunctioned Sir, answered Hellra; well he did in a very indirect manner. Even though she was scared if he found out the truth she couldn't help but feeling satisfied with the droid's demise.
"I don't want to know, said the officer, when he saw a small smirk tugging at Hellra's lips.
The officer stepped to the door, just as he was about to leave he turned around
"Since you made such good job with the simulator tough we will have to replace some parts, could you repair Droid G7?"

Story 2: Electrical Systems

Hellra grunted as her alarm went off.
Her hand shot expertly out and grabbed the alarm. A few seconds later a loud crash could be heard as the alarm made contact with the wall opposite of her bed. Hellra smirked in satisfaction. She continued her sleep.

Hellra jolted awake at the sound of a door closing. She glanced around the room. Looks like her two roommates just left. A small yet high pitched sound emitted from Hellra's mouth as she yawned. She swung her legs from the bed to the ground. She gazed around looking for her DC-15 blaster pistol.
Hellra panicked for a second when she couldn't find it. She lifted her covers; she looked in her bedside cabinet. She sprung from her bed to the floor. She crouched on all fours looking under her bed. She stood up and winced as her legs protested of all the sudden movements. She bent over bed and grabbed her pillow, not that she used it actually. Most times she would sleep on the ground, if she could sleep.

Hellra sighed in relief when she saw her blaster pistol. Although it was pitch black in the room, she had no problem seeing. Hellra quickly showered and dressed for the day. She quickly slid her glasses over eyes before opening door. Hellra searched for her droid as she headed over to her designated destination. Rooms for acquiring basic skills. Most called it RABS.

"Morning. Hellra"
"Morning G7, what is the time and plans for today?" asked Hellra, when she fixed G7 she grew quite attached to him. She talked with her roommates and they agreed on letting her request G7 as the room's assisting droid. Each room had a droid that helped its occupants with their time table of the day or reminding them.

"It. Is. Now. Thirty. Minutes. Past. Eight. Your. Schedule. For. The. Day. Is. breakfast. At eight  forty. five. Your. Are. Writing. Theoretical. Test. About. Electrical. Systems. Two. O. clock. Your. Last. Preparation. Before. your. practical. Examination."  Answered the bot.

Hellra paled...

"I am writing an exam today..." Holy shi" Hellra got interrupted
"Good day Hellra, don't let me interrupt your sentence"
Hellra spun around.
"Holy ships, yeah alota ships coming in today Sir" said Hellra nervously

The officer stared at her not sure if he should believe her or what to say&
"Sir may I be excused?" asked Hellra.
The officer nodded&
Hellra quickly rushed away,
"Okay let’s see, do I have my books...Crud"
Hellra stormed back to her room, G7 trying to follow her.
She flipped her book open and began reading.
"Many third world planets still uses gas, or oil powered ships and machines" Mumbled Hellra as her eyes darted across the pages.
"You. Missed breakfast." Interrupted G7 her.
"G7, thanks for reminding me, but firstly, yes I skipped breakfast, so what. There is always lunch and secondly I am late for my test...ciao!" Hellra sped away.

"You idiot, you should have studied!" scolded Hellra herself as she skidded in front of her class.
She rubbed her head out of nervousness, and opened the door.

Hellra stared in disbelief at the screen in front of her.
This was it?
Hellra glanced at the questions.

Which planet makes the best use of hydro electricity?
Who is the only planet in the northern quadrant to use the wind as part of their daily life basis.
Hellra smirked, this test was a breeze, well it did help that she had a photographic mind.
Although Hellra was used to writing on paper, she had to do her exams on the computer in front of her.
After she filled in the answers, Hellra faced death match. The computer would shot any question out to her randomly. She had to give her answer within the time limit.

She was just good at memorizing things. Hellra quickly filled in most of her answers. She knew she will get an average score at least and she wasn't worried that. She glared at the drawings in front of her. She hated when they gave diagrams.
"Okay, so if the blue port is connected to wire C that would mean the hydro pipe's wire, wire D should be connected to the white port" mumbled Hellra, she looked up to see the overseer clearing his.
"Sorry" Hellra apologized.
A few minutes later Hellra stood up, this was her first test she has ever written at the VE and she didn't know how the systems worked.
The overseer who knew she was new quickly showed her what to do.
Hellra left the room with guilt at the pit of her stomach, she always finished before other people did.

Hellra met up with G7 outside the RABS.
"What is the time?" asked Hellra
"Lunch." Replied the bot.
"Lunch can wait, and mind leaving me alone?" said Hellra walking back to her room.
She opened her door and stepped inside. Hellra let out a sigh of content as she took her glasses of. The room's lights were off, some machines and alarms beeped with little lights showing their activity, casting small green or red shadows on the floor.

Hellra bent on the ground, she picked up what used to be her alarm. She quickly found all the broken bits and pieces and dumped it in the room's instant disposal bin.
She plopped herself on her bed and took her book out about electrical systems.
A silence followed only to be interrupted by the flipping pages of a book.
Another few minute past. Hellra sighed as she threw her book down. She knew the material.
Hellra checked her watch. She had one hour free, might as well do something worthwhile.
She quickly ran out of her room to the training centers.
She peered through the doors to see what rooms were occupied. She wanted to train alone.
She grumbled, the usual hand to hand combat rooms were all occupied. She will have to do with a gravity simulator.
She pushed the door open and locked it when she was inside.
"What is designated level?" asked the computer operator.
"Medium" answered Hellra, immediately she felt the gravity pull at her.
It took her half her strength to just lift her legs. Hellra walked or rather stumbled around as she got used to the gravity. When she felt more used to the gravity Hellra began performing a simple kata.
She frowned when she looked at her feet. Her right foot was a few centimeters in front of her left.

"Looks like I will have to start again all over" mumbled Hellra lost in thought/
She continued for another thirty minutes before her timer went off.  She glanced at her watch.
"Bugger"

Hellra loved doing these kinds of tests. They had given her a really easy task. All she had to do was connect the right wires to its matching port. She pushed her buzz button indicating she was finished.
The examiner walked over.
"Good job PFC, you finished in three minutes well follow me to your next level" exclaimed the examiner.
"There is another level?" asked Hellra confused.
"Of course, when you finish your level in a certain time, you go to the next level each time you have to work faster” answered the examiner.
"My life is over before it even began" Hellra as she was led to the next level.

Hellra sat in the waiting room. Most of her fellow troopers received their results from their bots. But her examiner wanted to see her personally.
"Ah yes, PFC Hellra, please come in" said the examiner.
"Thank you Mister?"
"Smooth" answered the man, he held his three fingered hand to shake. Hellra shook it nervously.
"You wanted to see me?" asked Hellra curiously.
"Yes, your results it’s average, I didn't expect that from you"
Hellra's face flamed up, as she blushed embarrassed.
She opened her mouth but quickly shut it as the man held up his hand.
"I expect more from you, you are sharp and skilful, but if you want to excel you will have to work more. You passed this exam with your common knowledge and a bit of studying. Do try harder and...you are excused"

Hellra quickly rushed out.
"Okay, next time I will, next time I will" grumbled Hellra to herself as she walked to her room.

Comments: All right, decent job. This story was VERY hard to follow for me, but from what I can make of it: you seem to have the theory down. This isn't all that easy a course, it’s not really doing anything: it understands the theory behind what you're doing. Good work for a course not all that great, but watch your Grammar, or next time I won't be so generous...

Level 2: Fortifications and Defense
Story 1: Field Fortifications

"Approaches:
Approaching enemies on the ground, is
most likely by watercourses and  roads. It is very difficult to judge when
soldiers will take the road, soldiers may want to avoid it purposefully with the risk of an ambush, but it is still one
of the fastest way to gain ground over days"

Hellra groaned, who needs to know what fortification is? She sighed and got up from her comfortable spot on the bed. Her hand pressed the deactivation button. The droid's fluent voice softened out. Hellra had the urge of punching something. She resisted remembering the second of glee it was to destroy G7 and the hours she spent repairing him.
Hellra opened her bedside cabinet to get something eat. A small sugary thing wouldn't hurt. Her hands grazed over the broken alarm parts. Damn, how is she going to explain this one? She can't repair it like she normally does after destroying an alarm since she can't see, and explaining she threw it.... well that might have some consequences.

She cursed silently at her bandages that covered her eyes. Since Killhouse she hasn't been able to see.
"Why I ever started wearing glasses, is beyond wondering" Hellra mused.
She felt her way around the room to the door, silently she opened it. It seems not silent enough.
"L.C.P.L Hellra. You. Are. Suppose. To. Take. G.7.B with. You"
Hellra groaned at the room's assisting bot.
"Why I ever fixed you is another question"
Hellra plopped herself back on her bed. She was given extra time studying for her Demo and fort. Since she was blind. She flipped the button that activates the droid to read the data out and slumped back on her bed. The droid's mechanical voice only drew her into sleep.

Hellra woke hours later with a jolt. She could hear droid G7's normally silent wheels rounding as he neared her. Her hearing senses improved a lot since she lost her sight.
"One. Message. L.C.P.L Hellra."
Hellra sighed as G7 played the message.
"LCPL Hellra, please report to my office, from your squad leader Sergeant TK"
Hellra sighed again.
"What the hell does he want?" she grumbled, angered to get up.

Hellra walked through the halls in long strides. The small droid leading her were going haywire. He was trying to point out each individual's height, age etc. She scowled. Her usually expressionless face was contorted in a deep frown.
She just got back from another 'special team meeting' she and ASL Yillis have to escort the new trooper Splinter-Cell. She stopped in front of the door she thought where the examination will take place. As usual she only knew her work half way.

She opened the door with her usual knock.
A strong female voice greeted her.
"Private First Class Hellra?"
"Lance Corporal now, " corrected Hellra her while trying to hide her grin.
"Your sheets--"
"Ya, I know, I haven't filled my tracking sheets in again as usual, and I am having rather difficulties seeing," said Hellra.
Hellra heard the shuffling of datapads, paper and other various objects.
A sharp intake of breath indicated the woman was about to speak again.

"Oh, yes. Injury from your last training& please be seated, I am going to ask question and you will answer it" the voice were professional yet kind with a twang of pity in it;. Hellra grumbled inwardly at this.

Her droid who were miraculously silent, lead her to a chair in front of a desk. She took her seat and waited expectantly for the questions to start raining.
"Well, let’s get this started, only provide answers for my question"
Hellra braced herself for the first question nervously.
"What is the definition of fortification?"
She relaxed. This was an easy question.
"It is what the armed force can make most of by it surrounding terrain to enhance its defenses"
Hellra dropped her shoulders; to be relaxed was the best way to be prepared sometimes.
"Name the two different types of fortification:
Hellra was silent for a second before she answered
"Natural and Artificial fortifications"
"What is Natural and Artificial fortification?"

"Natural fortification, is woods, marshes, watercourses, and any other natural recourse that could be used for fortification&" Minutes stretched in eternity by. They handled topics that stretched from ditches and trenches to bomb proof fortifications.

Questions upon question came down on Hellra, she answered without ease. Though she struggled several times. Most of the answers were logical questions. As long as she gave a professional answer it would at least looked like she studied.

After about thirty or more of these question the examiner shut her book.
Hellra looked up surprised, she was expecting more.
"Time for demolitions" said the examiner. Hellra heard her dragging a book over desk, the soft metal cover scraping over the table. She sighed as the more questions came.

"What is your general idea of demolitions?"
Hellra looked up yet again surprised. Though she couldn't see, the examiner was smiling slightly before she answered.
"Part of the test, is to test your logic, and also, you didn't study as you should have"

Hellra frowned, interested at the turn of events.
"So, what is your general sum up of demolitions?"
Hellra took a big breath

"Demolishing is ways and means of breaking forts And other buildings down to the ground with explosives and bombs. It is used several times to destroy enemy fortification in weakening their defenses...um...um. ya, I know there is more, just hold a sec" Hellra paused to think.
What was am I missing? Her thoughts were jumbling around from one spot to the other. A few minutes passed, Hellra could feel the impatience radiating from the examiner. Although it couldn't be seen under the bandages covering her eyes, her face was frowned, she squeezed her eyes as she answer silently praying it was correct.
"Ah, ya, also it can be sued to destroy old fortifications to build new ones."
Hellra continued to explain for a few more minutes till at last she ran out of thoughts&

Silence passed for a few minutes. Hellra cleared her throat. The examiner looked up irritated.
"Go to the next room for practical practice, it on your left as you walk"
Hellra thanked her and walked out. Hellra was still amazed at all the sounds that filled the halls. Now that she couldn't see, saw more of her surroundings by ear. She continued to the next room.

"It is not important to know how to build fortifications, but also where to do it, what type of fort to build in which conditions at what approximate stability it has to last.
The same goes for demolitions"

Hellra said in a bored manner to the instructor. Yet again more logical crap. A guilty feeling coursed through her. She should be thankful they were making special arrangements for her to pass.

She pushed her distracted thoughts away, when she heard the man's voice being directed to her.

"Hellra, we have a simulator that acts on your brainwaves enabling you to see. In a few minutes you will be able to take your practical exam"
There was silence as the man paused, only the soft humming of the active simulators could be heard.
"You will literally experience the weather conditions, the terrain etc." he continued. Hellra nodded excited.

Soon afterwards she found her self-sitting in a round sphere-like object, she could feel something heavy covering the upper half of her head. Some tubes and monitoring devices were also connected to her.

Blackness overwhelming her thoughts.
Soon afterwards she gained focus of her surroundings, her eyes still closed though, she shuddered. Instinctively she opened her eyes, but quickly shut it again at the unexpected light and sight that she was blessed with suddenly. Slowly she opened her eyes again.

She was lying in a tent on a small bunk. She could hear small explosions from a distance. It sounded like she was in the middle of a war or battle.
She noticed the dark brown material the tent was made of... wait material? Since when did the Stormtrooper corps use tents?
Her question was soon answered as the tent flap opened. It bought a chilly wind in. She shuddered again.

"Hellra, you are awake at last, we need your confirmation about..."
he trailed off.

Hellra looked at him confused. She gazed at everything around her. Everything looked so old and ancient… then it her. Sometimes, a trooper has to adapt to what he is given to survey, and wouldn't be able to rely constantly on the comfort of his inventories.
"Yes, let me just get refreshed up" she answered to the man. He wore a weird uniform. It wasn't like normal armor. It was shining, and he was holding a weird helmet in his hand and at his waist hung a sword sheathed in some hard brown looking material decorated with golden threads.
Hellra groaned, now she knew why they had to study the different races and the historical culture.

After a few minutes she existed the tent. There was a blazing storm around her, people were screaming over the howling wind, while snow flecks fell from above.
A few tents stood around her, small walls of snow were surrounding them.

Hellra studied the ancient and primitive maps that lay in front her. She ordered out commands, and pointed faults and weaknesses. It seems she had to organize the plans of a war that was raging in a region not from her.

"We will have to improve these snow wall, they may help camouflaging us, but it’s not protecting us"
said Hellra as she studied her surrounding in details, she quickly ordered them to dug around the wall for traps and ditches while she led out a scout team, to search for boulders or any form of hard rock they can use.
Hellra returned her tent hours later, stiff and tired. This exam was testing her limits and it seems, she was long past her limit. She went to the outer rim of enemy camps, looking for faults in their camps, however she was spotted and had to leave her riding creature behind. She struggled to find her way back to the base for a few hours.

A few hours passed, Hellra was resting in her tent when she got a rude awakening.
Hellra, Hellra!"
Hellra jolted out of the tent to the source of the voice. She froze for a second, a bloodied soldier was standing in front f her, and He was leaning on another soldier.
"We won, but the fight drained us of our forces, I received word that another enemy is approaching us as we speak"
Hellra glanced worriedly around her.
“We couldn't possibly-“ suddenly the soldier in front of her started blurring. She squinted her eyes to see him better, but to no avail. Minutes later she woke up in blackness again.

"Well done Hellra, you didn't do too badly, your exam results will be sent to your room in a few hours"

Hellra was pacing up and down in her room. She was a nervous wreck. Today she will receive her results Hellra thought back of her experience in the simulator. She scathed her head; The bandage was making her itch. She was still blind in this world. She guessed why they always also gave them a practical test was also for character and leadership developing. A knock interrupted her thoughts.

"Your results are here," said a voice from behind the door.

Rizzit: All right, it seems you've changed the story a bit since Dez read it over. I'm going to pass you, but keep in mind: this places you on the other side of the "thin line" dez was talking about. The Grammar is still very poor, but the story is less confusing (to me at least). Good work.

Story 2: Explosives deployment.

Hellra stared lazily at the building in front of her. It seemed old and ancient littered with the years, and of previous generation's training.
"We are supposed to bring that down?" she looked at her instructor curiously.
"Well, this is not your real test yet" he replied. A few seconds passed in which Hellra stole to study the lands around them.
Barely reaching twenty meters, the building seemed small compared to the city; the area around it was battered and bruised. The sunbeams that slipped through the clutches of the tightly knitted clouds seemed to lighten it designated spots. Hellra's hair stirred as a breeze picked up. It was a dry wind filled with nothing but empty promises of rain and a bitter cold.

"Den you go first" Den looked up nervously. He grinned slightly and stepped forward.
"You are going to plant one explosive and then return, mind where you plant it, if it is planted in the wrong place, the training fails for everyone, also you have five minutes" said the training instructor.
Den's smile faltered. He took the explosives from its small pile, heaped on the ground.

Hellra inspected her view further. Things really looked different without her glasses.
It was peaceful even if the wind was yapping at her face, and rushing all creatures into hiding. It was nature. How long she stood there she didn't know, but someone tapped her on her shoulder. She spun around her fist ready.
"Whoa, chill man" said Den.
Den's comment seemed to draw the instructor's curiosity.

"Hellra, since I can obviously see you were much more inspired by this beautiful surrounding rather than my lecture, I will explain especially for you since I now have your undivided attention" said the instructor sarcastic with good humor.

Hellra blushed, her ears turned red, it didn't do much for her face, as her face was already a rosy color of the cold. She mumbled something shifting her feet nervously at being in the spot light.
"You fellow class mates planted explosives inside the building at certain points, you have to choose the best spot to plant one, and hope it succeeds in bringing down the building, you have to make sure you connected it correctly, now off you go"

Hellra trudged over the rocky and bare landscape with a rhythmic pace. She jumped ever so often over gaps that opened in the ground. She grasped her explosives tightly in her hands as she studied the building; it was resting on four pillars that stretched over a meter. The front of the building was resting a once magnificent white-now grey staircase.
Hellra ducked under the stairs. She crouched to have a look around. She smiled relieved to see no explosives were planted here yet. She taped the explosive in the centre of the stair attaching it firmly to the bottom of it. She checked the timing as she connected the wiring. She frowned, and seemed to be thinking of something, she quickly stole a glance to the timer on her wrist. One minute thirty seconds left.
With the wires connected, Hellra started fiddling with the controls, and settings of the explosive. Without even making sure it was correct she darted away from the building as fast she could go.

She gasped for breath and water. Her instructor looked at her, his eyebrows lifted.  She grabbed the water bottle from her backpack and gulped it as fast as she could down. The instructor looked at her disapprovingly. He shook his head.

"Hellra, you took ten seconds past the limit. You lose thirty percent as penalty"
Hellra merely nodded.
"Now, time to see what you guys did, when I press the activation button on this detonator, the explosives you planted will go off in ten seconds" continued the instructor with a stern expression.
The students waited tensely as he pressed the detonator. Hellra could hear the seconds tick by in her head. When it hit eight seconds the first explosive went off&

followed by four other explosions two seconds later.
Silence stretched as the dust settled. Hellra fumbled her fingers nervously.

"Who configured their settings?" asked the instructor with a silent yet deafening tone.
"Hellra still fumbling stepped forward from where she stood at her dust covered backpack.
"Why?" he demanded.
"I wanted to test something Sir," she answered.
"Enlighten us," he demanded again.
"I thought that if the stairs was destroyed before the building was destroyed it would tip the building, and not have it merely give way. I just wanted to test my theory as I saw that the building relies very heavily on the stairs. It has a weak point there actually, with the triangular bulks tha---" Hellra was cut short, she silenced immediately as he held up his hand.

"No bad Hellra, didn't expect that sharpness from you," commented the instructor suddenly impressed although he putted and emphasis on 'that'.
He turned towards the rest of the class.
"Sometimes we want to tip the building to a particular side instead of just destroying it, by removing one of it supportive points, it immediately weakens the stability of the building in that point" said the instructor, he dusted his uniform.

"You guys should get to the exams tomorrow, and by the way, this was your exam" he turned around to pack up his things when Hellra confronted him.
"You told us it was training!"
"Hellra, exams is also training, and what difference would there have been except that you would all be a nervous jumble?" he asked.
Hellra bit her tongue to refrain from making a smart-ass comment. He was right though, she shook her head, and gazed a last time at the nature in front of her. It lost its beauty as the building collapse disturbed it unnaturally.

"So, what happened after you left home?" asked Emi excited.
Hellra groaned, she tried to escape from Emi's clutches, but Emi knew her well enough to keep her from doing so.
"Oh, no Hell, you stay in this room till we are finished," ordered Emi, Hellra meekly obeyed, she knew how persuasive Emi could be sometimes and how angry she could get.
"Well, I ran away from home as you noticed" started Hellra.
"No duh" answered Emi sarcastic.
Hellra scowled as she continued.
"I became a racer for three years, in that three years I learned to street race and fight, then I joined VE after an accident" Emi stared Hellra suspicious.
"You are hiding something Hell, what is it?" her voice was dangerously low
Hellra glanced at anything that could save her; the time on her digital clock caught her eyes,
"Merde!" she cursed.
"Emi, I have to go, exams in a few minutes!" exclaimed Hellra out relieved, she got away with a decent excuse.
"Fine, good luck, I was thinking of starting a medic by the way" Hellra's eyes widened in surprise.
"Medic...whoa, most people don't choose medic, good luck with that too" Emi nodded, she gave Hellra another death hug. Hellra rolled her eyes in annoyance.

Hellra laughed at the questions that they were asked, she knew them without even studding, and maybe it was her small time in Lancer Squad that taught her so much.
They asking question about different grenades and what their uses were, and why it couldn't be used on buildings, bridges and etc. She struggled a bit with her exam when they started asking question about the different bridges you get, since the style varies from rope bridges to the historical bridges, the frames and stone used to build one, what stone should be used to build, and how can it be destroyed in three different methods of planting explosives.

"Did you know the answer to question three? Point. Five?" asked some student her friend as they passed. Hellra blocked these sounds as she walked back to her room. She will receive her results in an hour, so no stress.
With a soft hiss the door opened, her soft footsteps filled the room, but ended shortly as she threw herself on her bunk. She lay there for a while just staring to the ceiling when a knock interrupted her thoughts.

"My results?" she asked jumping from her bead excited.
The man nodded, he handed her the paper with the results, while Hellra read it excited, and he studied her.
After a while she noticed him still standing there.
"What?" she asked rudely and annoyed.
"You seem familiar" he commented.
"I do, well that's nice, but would you kindly leave me alone?"

The man nodded his head, and swiftly walked from the room.
A few minutes later the door opened again, followed with Emi's laughter. Since their one roommate moved to another room, Emi was sharing rooms with her.
"So it went Hell?" she asked.
"Passed, seventy percent," muttered Hellra an answer.

Interesting take on things. Nice to see you added a bit of a side story in. You pass.

Story 1: bridging and rigging

It seemed like the typical day to lounge around, as the merry rays of the sun baked down on the prosperous planet of Tadath. With no wind to rustle the leaves, and not even a cloud in the sky the weather seemed perfect. Caverns and canyons provided a cool shade to its inhabitants. Even the morning dew that usually dropped from the leaves in the late mourning seemed to hasten early not to be caught in the oncoming heat wave.

"GO!"
Birds flew away in fright at the loud sounds that suddenly disrupted the peace. Blasts could be heard from afar. Some troopers were being taught the basics of shooting a rifle while other was doing fitness exercises of all sorts.
A girl with shoulder length dark blonde hair held back by a black bandanna was waiting impatiently, her feet tapping against the ground. Her face was dirty with all the dust layers it covered. Sweat trickles made their path through the thin dust, a hand wiped it away, smearing the dirt in long swipes across her face. She looked around uncomfortable and hot in her training outfit, seems her classmates were suffering the same thing.
"Hellra, you first. Seems you have too much energy to cope with today" called and good hearted man out. The girl responded to her name by looking up and then following the direction of his finger to something behind him.
Hellra braced herself for the course in front of her. She was stood at the ledge; gazing at what she had to do. Seems she had to cross a bridge of some sort over water, what didn't make sense to her was, why there were ropes hanging above the bridge&

"Can I start, sir?" she inquired politely yet impatient. He nodded. Hellra smirked; this course was way too easy, might as well show the new recruits what a trooper is made off. Hellra glanced to her right; a few recruits were standing there looking in awe at her group. In the whole training area her group was the highest-level class there, naturally attracting attention with their orderly lines, and backpacks accompanied with rifles.

Hellra sprinted forward to cross the sic meter bridge. As she crossed the first meter she could feel how unstable the bridge was although it showed otherwise, yet again she should never be fooled by looks. Instead of taking it slowing Hellra broke in a sprint jump like in attempt to trudge it as lightly as possible. But it seems her luck was otherwise, at the three meter check point, she felt the bridge gave way, instinctively she grabbed for the ropes she saw earlier. She felt something brush through her slender fingers. She grasped it firmly. It stopped her fall, Hellra hung for a few minutes before she felt the rope ripping higher above her head. Her eyes widened in surprise, she swung quickly to another rope, to avoid clinging to her current one before it tears.

The same happened with her next rope, Hellra swung from one rope to another in desperate attempt to cross to the other side, but she found her self-splashing in the cool water. As the water-cooled her body, it didn't help cooling her embarrassed face that turned red. Blushingly Hellra trudged out of the water, her uniform clinging to her body uncomfortably. Inside her pride took a blow remembering how she wanted to show off in front of the recruits.

"What happened here?" asked the instructor towards his class, ignoring the recruits who were snickering at Hellra.
The instructor didn't wait for an answer, and continued.
"Never cross a bridge no matter how sturdy it looks, test it out by throwing rocks on it or walking across tied to a rope, the same goes for the ropes" Hellra's thoughts got distracted by the droids who currently in the process of repairing the bridge she walked on. She wanted to kick herself, she always quoted 'Always expect the unexpected'
She snorted inwardly.

"You are dismissed!" Hellra glanced up bewildered. She tugged one of her classmates hard.
"Den what we must do?" she whispered hastily scared of what her instructor's comment will be on her lax attitude.
"Research ways to enforce bridges, practical exam tomorrow,. Also go through your rigging notes," he answered.
Hellra asked no further questions instead she thanked him, and went on her way.

Hellra was humming a soft tune to herself as she studied. Having taken a shower, eating some refreshed her up mightily. Her fingers were pressed in her ears, blocking or trying to block any sounds that might disturb her. She cursed, as it didn't seem to work. Not soon after her com. Wristwatch went off, a familiar voice sounded through her room.
"Hell, up for a spar?"
"Nah, not today Darr, I am studying fir my exam tomorrow" answered Hellra her fellow Lancer and friend back. The COM link between them died, Hellra sighed and plugged her ears with fingers again, trying to start up her studying.

Next morning
-----------------

"So, I have to build a sturdy bridge with the given materials to pass?" asked Hellra to be sure. Her instructor nodded. Without a second look for assurance Hellra jumped to work. She had to build a one-meter long bridge with wood; some quarter circle pipes mostly, nails, ropes, six poles and two long cables.
She jumped in a hole dug in the fresh ground. Her body came half way in if she stood straight. She firmly planted two poles across each other in the width.

Hellra wiped the sweat from her head. The skeleton of her bridge were forming, three poles were standing in line with each other, the middle one being the longest above the ground, opposite of them stood similar poles, their lengths in the same fashion. The quarter circle pipes mostly. were resting in the ground, the upper half upholding the walking area that consisted of wood.

A few more hours passed, the sun sunk low, barely visible, Hellra didn't notice this, as lights were turned on gently. She dusted her hands and looked in pride at her bridge. The quarter circle pipes supported it mostly. But ropes and cables that were fastened to the poles upheld the top.
Hellra called the instructor over.
He studied her structure for a few minutes in silence.
"To fancy" he commented, Hellra gaped at him surprise.
"I worked a whole day on that Sir!" she exclaimed.
"Exactly, you have to make one in an hour when you are out there" the instructor replied. He walked over to the bridge and started crossing it. He stepped to the middle of it and jumped on it, making the wood strain under his weight. Hellra watched tensely as the ropes and cables seemed to drill like musical springs.
"Not bad, but try and make it faster next time, which is tomorrow" Hellra said nothing realizing he was right.
"Well, at least I tried"

Next day
----------

"So what do we have here Hellra?" Hellra looked in pride at her new bridge.
In front of them were a bridge held up by ropes on two opposing trees. Triangular beams supported the walking area on the end of each end. it pressuring into the sides of the small cliff. The other end of the bridge crossed the small gap and went over the ledge on the other side. The two ropes that held it upright were fastened in the exact middle balancing the two halves of the bridge.

"Excellent work Hellra, but we will have to test you some time also in making bridges for larger objects and creatures for example and vehicle, but I think that will fell under construction skills" said the instructor. Hellra beamed with happiness. She had to rebuild her bridge, but at least she learned something of it.

"Anything else Sir?" she asked.
"No, you are dismissed" said the instructor.

Hellra's face was frowned as an officer walked past her. Her whole posture was bought in a crisp salute. She waited impatiently for the officer to pass before she relaxed to her usual stance. She scowled at the itch that irritated her between her shoulder blades beneath her stormtrooper armor as she started walking in her designated direction.

She walked pass her old office where she spent her days as Platoon adjutant. Hell she was barely a few weeks PA, and she didn't do much work even. But with her new platoon commander, TJ, she is relieved of her PA position. She didn't know if she should be relieved, or embarrassed, embarrassed for thinking she could do it, when she didn't even have the necessary skills or qualifications for it.

Hellra tried to push these thoughts aside, the itch on her back forgotten as well.
She looked up alarmed as a loud thunder vibrated through the area even penetrating the sound proof windows. She crossed the wide hall to the window. Blustery winds were picking up, and those few troopers who were outside quickly scrambled back inside the building.

She sighed warily, this was her most favorite type of weather, and she wasn't even feeling happy with it.
"Hi, Hell, class is about to start you know" interrupted a voice her distracted mind. She looked up to the smiling Den. His perfect set of teeth broadened in a smile.
"Yeah, guess so" she muttered and joined him on their way.
"So, what is your full name?" she asked trying to make a conversation as they walked to the class.
"Dennis Vayien, and yours?"
"Hellen Le Clerique...how old are you?"
"Hmm, about twenty or nineteen, I guess" answered Den truthfully. He laughed at Hellra's confused face.
"My earliest memory is joining the army, I don't know anything about my past, except my name, and the only way I knew my name was because it was engraved on a name plate, pinned on my clothes"
"Why don't you try to find out who you are?" asked Hellra.
"Why, maybe I am better off not knowing" answered Den, they halted in front of a door.
"Okay, well good luck with your class," said Hellra, as her hand grazed over the activation pad.
"Same, to you Hell" he said, disappearing through the narrow doorway. She followed him shortly.

She took her usual seat at the back of the classroom in the left corner. Students were murmuring quietly among each other waiting for their lecturer who hasn't arrived yet. Hellra scoffed at the windowless room. She liked to look through windows, maybe that is why the room didn't have any, to keep the students focused on their work.

"Welcome to level three, repairing defaces construction skills" stated a loud booming voice. A large man stepped through the doorway, he had trimmed moustache, and his neck as thick as Hellra's head. He slammed his bag on the desk, creating a small crater in the cheap wood.
The students who sat in front carefully tried to move their seats backwards unnoticed obviously scared of this lecturer.
"I am Sergeant Carl, your new lecturer" he said through clenched teeth as if he was forced against his will here. He started walking fast and quickly through the many rows of seats, with each step he took he spoke a word.

"I do not tolerate fools, and I do not tolerate average students, trooper what did I just SAY!" he slammed both his hands on the desk of a student, creating once again some damage, making the student look up in fright. He smirked at the evident fear on the student's face and walked back to his slightly damaged desk.

"I want each and every one of you to write an essay of what you think you will learn in level three, and what there is to learn" ordered Giant as Hellra nicknamed him to the class.

*Much Later*

"So, how was class today?"
Hellra looked at her best friend's usually chirpy face.
"It was okay I guess, we only did an essay"
Emi snorted, and snickered.
"Aw, you had to write an essay just like you did back when you were ten years old" she taunted Hellra.
"Yeah, I guess, pretty useless though"
Hellra shook her head at Emi's antics, since Emi joined the VEA things have been much more interesting then it was. She and Emi were practically sisters.
"Hmm, when is the last time you had something to eat?" asked Emi thoughtfully.
"Why?" asked Hellra confused at Emi's question of her eating habits.
"Come on, I have known you since diapers, you have a knack for skipping meals too caught up in your own little word to remember that you need food" said Emi, as she grabbed Hellra's hand and dragged her towards the café.

*Next day*

"Could the following people please report to my desk now?" thundered Giant's voice through the silent classroom.
"Dennis Vayien, Hellen Le clerique, Evan Wak" Giant droned another few names out before he stopped and looked at the people who haven't been called.
"The rest are all dismissed"
Steel scraped against the tiled floor and feet shuffled on the floor as the students left. Giant stared at the handful of students in front of him.
"You passed the essays, I will read you essays out loud for you" he said pleasantly startling Hellra.
"What is with his new attitude?" she wondered to herself.
"We will start with Hellra's essay&" he paused for a second to search her face before he continued reading her essay out loud.

"Level three is about repairing defenses such as field fortifications that failed to with held the attack, failed to withstand the weather, or that wasn't build strong enough in general. The repairs can be applied naturally, or artificial. Natural resources include woods, boulders and ETC Usually these repairs can only hold temporarily since a fortification had to have a strong structure from the beginning. Artificial repairs can be the following: durasteel, enforced plastic, ropes, and beams. Natural repairs are usually the best to use since they provide a much more natural look, adding more camouflage as well, while artificial repairs is much more stronger"

Hellra looked up to see what Giant would say, but he didn't say anything as he instead started reading the next essays as well.

*Twenty minutes later*

"The objective of this simulator, works together in a group, and survives...good luck, you have one hour to survive before the sim ends. You have to find a way to repair the fort that will serve as your base," said Giant, as he adjusted a buttons and switched on the computer.
Hellra opened her mouth to ask a question, but quickly shut it as the scenery around them changed. The polished floor became rough sand, and the walls turned in a battle scene. Hellra coughed at the strong smell of blood that suddenly penetrated her senses.

They didn't do anything for a few minutes except observe. To their left stood the fort they had to repair if damaged.
"Come on guys, we will only get killed here" said Hellra starting to sprint through the mass of troopers that were fighting each other. Before they even reached their fort, a massive blast missed them heading direct for the fort.
"shi-"
They were thrown backwards as the shock waves of the blast bounced back as it hit and ripped a part of the wall from the fort apart.
Hellra was lying on her back, a dull pain aching in her shoulder. She propped her self up on her elbows.
"Merde!" she cursed.
"Come on Hell, enough lounging around," said Den extending his hand towards her to help up.

"Okay, so what is the damage?" she asked as they stepped through the hole that was just created.
"A lot" snorted Den as he tried calculating what exactly they had to do.
"Hmm, the whole is simply too big to repair" muttered Hellra. She took her helmet off to breathe properly. The other's followed her example.
"Lets just start and see what there is to work with" suggested Den.
Nobody said anything and spread out through the building to find materials that were left lying around that could help them.
They met each other back at the open gap.
"Okay, we have some explosives, ropes and? nothing else" counted Hellra.

"We need to get rid of the gap with these materials?" asked Evan in disbelief.
"Yes, and I have an idea that just might work" said Hellra happily. She looked at their faces, most were already smudged with sweat and dirt, and Hellra had the feeling she didn't look any better.
"We blow the roof up, the debris and rubble of ceiling, will fill this gap, and yes I know it will leave a gap in the roof, but it better than having a gap this size in the side" she suggested.
"But that will make the fort smaller." protested Evan.
"Any other idea?" Hellra raised her eyebrows in his direction.
"Well, why don't we just fill it with rubble that's lying around in the battle field?" suggested Evan.
"Hello...there is troopers dying, well virtual troopers dying at the moment, it will take too much time, and we have to fill a gap, one meter wide, and on and a half meter long, and do you know how heavy the stuff is we will carry?" argued Hellra.
"I vote for Hellra's idea," said Den.
"Same here" murmured the others. Seeing as the majority voted for Hellra's suggestion Evan nodded in agreement.
"Well, let get working then!" shouted Hellra.
"Evan, set this pair of explosives about one meter inwards, try to find some crack, a spot that is already weakened by the blasts" ordered Hellra as she stuffed explosives in Evan's hands. She turned towards Den.
"Den, you will have to go a floor up and set the explosives there, the ceiling will need pressure from both sides" Den just grabbed the explosives and sprinted up the stairs that were at the back of the damaged room.
She pointed to the remaining two guys&
"Boys, let’s move the rubble here to the whole and start filling it, the roof might not be enough" they all quickly started moving boulders and rubble to the gap. Evan joined them after he set his own explosives.

"Okay guys, get up the stairs, this might get ugly!" called Den from above. The small group rushed up the stairs. Hellra stopped at Den's side that was standing as far as possible from the planted explosives. The wind rushed in her face mixed with the sound of screams and machines that were fighting not far away.
"We should get somewhere safe where we wouldn't be also included in this explosion" shouted Den over the blasts that have neared the fort.
"Evan, you still have that ropes?" asked Hellra to Evan, he held his hand up, strangled with the ropes.
"Good, guys helmets on, we going to get to the ground, then Den can activate the detonator," ordered Hellra, she quickly pushed her helmet over her head, and grabbed the rope from Evan.
"Den, help me tighten this" asked Hellra for help. Den quickly helped her tighten the ropes and then they both rushed the rest to the ground.

Den landed with a thump at her side, his army boots sinking in the soft sands, leaving a clear imprint on the ground.
"Ready guys? Asked Den, his hands ready to push the button.
"Yup" replied Hellra happily that the mission was almost on it end, they still had another five minutes left of the sim anyway.
Den pressed the activation button with a click that was soon followed by a loud explosion.

Hellra's eyes were squeezed tight, with her fingers in her ears.
Some poked her on her shoulder, dazed she looked up, and they were back with Sergeant Giant. He was making notes on a reply he recorded from the sim.
Shortly afterward, he turned to them clearing his throat.
"Well done people, seems you have brain after all, you didn't repair it as I would have liked you to do, but it was creative thinking you did there Hellra" Hellra nodded.

"So, do we pass?" asked Hellra impatiently. Her fingers tapping one the helmet she held in her right hand.
"You will receive your results later" barked the sergeant back to his old self.

Level 4: Material Manipulation
Story 1: Materials Science

------------------------------------------------------------------

Hellra lazily tracked her finger across the datapad, her eyes barely following the slow movement. Her head was nestled in the crook of a large branch, in large tree miles away from the academy.

Hellra sighed and gazed around her. It was a wind-still night with the atmosphere static and thick, a sure sign of an approaching storm. She unconsciously formed pictures of the grey-clouded sky, beams of the crescent moon could barely slip through the tight-knitted cloud formations, casting small whimpering shadows of the objects gracing the vast lands.

"Damn Specs, good grief, its irritating" she mumbled to herself as she nestled her neck back in the crook of the branch. The datapad glowed a faint blue and white light, illuminating her face. Her usual mischievous eyes were frowned displaying unusual maturity and seriousness.

She was studying the science of materials, but in reality she didn't have a clue what it was about. There were thousands of types of materials. And they were covering only the important ones.

"Ok, so sand and ground is good for scrubbing hardened food and blood from stuff, and durasteel is good for building...bluddy useless crap of information," grumbled Hellra as she shifted her weight to be more comfortable on the rough texture of the tree.

She has noticed one important factor in her time at the academy though. Most lessons and army related objects could be divided in two categories: Natural and Artificial.
She quickly jammed her datapad in her slung bag before she proceeded to her speeder.

Next day

Groggily Hellra walked down the corridors to her class. Her usually messy hair was even messier then usual as she barely had time to comb her hair properly. She broke her alarm for a third time this month. Her stomach was hollering at her for skipping breakfast when she hasn't even had dinner.
If her classroom had a swinging door she would have slammed it open, but she impatiently had to wait her time as it hissed open in a painfully slow manner.
"You are lat---" started Giant in his usual robust voice.
"No need to spell it out, I can read time" she snapped angrily. For the first time in a long time Hellra let her temper get hold of her.

She stomped off to her usual desk even ignoring Den's greeting on her way.
Giant didn't say anything but continued his lesson and increasing the intensity of boredom in the class. For the first time Hellra didn't even try to listen what her lecturer was droning on about. She just wanted to get out of this hellhole they called the Academy. She wanted to get out of the white armor she was forced to wear.  She wanted to get rid of her Stormtrooper insignia on her clothes. She was sick of this place.

She wanted to go into space and just be the free bird she was before she joined the Vast Empire. Now she was a Raider, once a Lancer, a stormtrooper trapped in some silly amour doing some silly Specialties classes and tests.

With a sudden shock she realized what she was thinking and pushed her anger back. Guiltily she glanced at her lecturer, she might as well make the most of this.
For a while she hasn't been thinking of this. But her time was drawing to an end in the Vast Empire; it depended on what will happen.

She just hoped for her own sake she would survive the guilt because she didn't intend to make friends. Hellra shook her head clear of these very disturbing thoughts and tried to concentrate with a greater determination.

"NOW, only certain material is only used for certain purposes, for example durasteel is one of the most common used metals to build buildings with," rumbled Giant.
Hellra sighed in boredom. She really wanted to get this over and done with. She could feel tiredness creeping up on her.

"Your test today will be theory, if you have studied and listened as you should have, this won't be difficult at all then, reorder the type of materials displayed on your test in the correct groups and give an example of where it can be used on what. Your test begins now!"

Hellra sighed again and looked at her test.

1.Place materials under the correct groups and tables.

Hellra stared at all the materials she had to place:

Wood
Durasteel
Rubber
Plastic
Sand
Bone
Glass
Steel
Copper
Aluminum
Concrete...

The list seemed forever to Hellra, and her impatience was thin, but started filling out the answers out anyway. She quickly drew up an table in which she grouped and listed the materials.

Metals
-Durasteel
-Steel
-Copper
-Aluminum

Ceramics
-Glass

Polymers
-Rubber
-Plastic

Biomaterials
-Wood
Bone

Composites
        Concrete

Hellra sat up; she stretched herself and continued with more intensity than ever.

Question2. Define 4 materials named in the above question and what they can be used for

Hellra stared dumbfounded at the question. She really didn't understand the logic of asking such easy question. But then again everything always happened the exact opposite of what she thinks.

Wood : Most commonly material, used for making rough and primitive bridges.
      Durasteel: Used to enforce buildings
Sand: Good use for blinding enemy, cleaning, and providing as obstacles to a
              floods, or enemies.
Copper: a good conductor for electricity and heat. Could be used in forts if light
is needed. Also to be used in electronical devices and objects
Aluminum : A light type of metal, usually used for fast vehicles, if needed
to build a quick fortification it is easy to carry and use since it
                          weighs so light.

The list of questions most similar to the first one continued, Hellra rubbed her eyes tiredly, on the verge of falling asleep. Her almost electric blue eyes drooped as she folded her arms to form a pillow for her head. She was at least finished with this part of the specs, or she hoped she was.

"Next up, the practical exam!" shouted Giant, although there was no need to shout.

A few minutes later  feet shuffled in the classroom as chairs scraped against the floor, a clear indication that the exam was finally over. Hellra trudged on her way out sleepily. But froze in her tracks as Gaint called her.
"Hellra a moment" coughed Giant.
Hellra stayed behind ignoring Den's curious glances, not really caring what Giant would say.

She felt the weight of a large hand settling on her shoulder.
She looked up to find her self-staring in the steel grey eyes of Giant. Her reflection glistened coldly back to her.

"I don't want you ever to throw an attitude, don't blow things for yourself" said Giant in an unusual eerie voice. Hellra's eyes widened slightly. Before she could protest she found being herself pushed out of the classroom in the direction leading to the outsides of the academy.

Hellra shrugged it off, her previous fury, temper and frustrations also gone, though it still didn't lift her mood. She noticed the winds rippling through the uncut grass, and trees leaning with the wind, leaves twirling from the branches to the ground.

She stopped abruptly; the only reason she stopped was because the people in front of her stopped. She stretched her neck trying to see what was going on in front of them.
She noticed that Giant was standing between small heaps of what like to her rubbish and several beams made of different materials.

"I want each of you to take a pile, and start sorting the objects out. Quality beams on the left, rubbish on the right. I offered the army some help today with this, since they are preparing some stocks for future fortifications." said Gaint, he gazed around for a few seconds.
"Well, GET TO IT PEOPLE!" he shouted angrily. It was a good idea to follow his order because if looks could kill they would all be sitting on the other line of life.
Hellra trudged to the pile nearest to her and started sorting it out. The first beam she picked up was made from wood, and was definitely going to the rubbish pile, huge chunk of wood just seemed to vanish creating large black holes in the beam. It was clearly too long in the water.

The next beam she picked up was a plain steel beam, covered with almost bronze-colored like spots. Pieces of rusts seemed to peel of the sides. She shook her head dragging it towards the rubbish; clearly it was also too long in the water as it has started rusting.

Hellra shoveled her hand deep in the pile just grabbing at something in randomness. Her hand closed around a first full of copper wires. The type used for electronically wiring. She inspected each individually. Some of them could still be used, others not. The danger with rusted metal was, if you cut yourself open it could cause some serious infection, and it would be a bad investment for the buildings it would be used on. Stable building required quality materials, and not some rusted beams.

She picked up another beam made of wood, clearly of good quality. But was it the right type of wood to use on fortification? She inspected it closer. Most wood that was dark was heavy weighted while the lighter colored beams were light. Making it easy to carry.

She dug her hands back to the pile, she felt her hand closing around something soft and elastic...rubber. She bought it up to inspect closer. It was deftly going to the rubbish pile. Once rubber started tearing it was useless because it won't stop tearing.

Hellra continued sorting through the pile a bit more before she could finish. She quickly rid the area of her presence by returning to her barracks. Hellra grumbled as she passed the kitchens and sniffing the wonderful food scents that emitted from it. Two hours till lunch.

Comments: Very good work, this isn't the easiest topic to work with though. See me on IRC though, there are a couple notes I'd rather pass on in person.

Level 4: Material Manipulation
Story 2: Metal Fabrication

Course Description: Troopers are expected to demonstrate what they learned it their Materials Science course by taking a welding torch and manipulating various metallic materials. Troopers will also learn how to apply this skill to the skills they have already learned. For example, they will now be able to create metallic structures such as walls, bridges, and so on.

“And so on?”
“Yup, that’s about it,”
Aeos stared Raki dumbfounded.  She dropped the datapad to her bed. They were currently in Raki’s cramped living quarters, sharing some breakfast and news gossip with each other.
“Me? And a welding Torch? Helloooo!” Aeos flailed her arms in akimbo frantically before pointing at herself.
“City girl alert, lady in training here,”
Raki stifled a snicker while trying to calm her classmate down to a level of sanity.
“As far as I know, you’ve been a farm girl your whole life, and you’re a killing machine in the making, not some damn lady,”
Aeos sighed before a wide grin broke across her face.
“Oh stuff the damn specs, wanna grab a drink before class?”
“Uh…sure, let’s stay sober this time, okay?”
“Of course, how you know me?”
“Exactly,” Raki muttered as Aeos yanked her by the arm through the door of the room.

Aeos dropped herself from the Heavy Weapon specialist classes, stubbornly upright refusing to follow in her brother’s oh-so-noble footsteps. Despite that, she enlisted herself to Combat Engineering, and it’s been a few weeks since she started it, and already she was flying through the classes.
***
“Sit down people!”
Aeos along with the rest of the class sat down, wide-eyed at the velocity in the man’s voice.
I am Giant, I’m the Level Four lecturer for your Cee-Ee specialty, excuse me for not attending your last class, had the flu,” the man coughed. Whether he was embarrassed about the flu or simply trying to emphasize the truth, Aeos couldn’t figure it out.
“Right, I’m sure most of you don ‘t have the brain the size of a pencil cap and would’ve read the briefings about this class. I’m only going to explain a few pointers about the welder; the welding torch is a simple little mechanism, you make use of a slide plate which will activate it, with that same plate you will adjust the strength of the torch,”
Yay, Aeos thought dryly while nodding off to other thoughts spinning around in her head. She snapped out from it as the scraping of chairs on a cold cement floor bought her back to this world. She was the last to get up and naturally she was the last to leave the class among Giant, their lecturer.

Their eyes met briefly. She continued to glaze past him, but he on the other gasped as he clamped a large calloused hand down on her shoulder.  She paused in her footsteps.
“Sergeant Hellra?”
Not again…
“No, I’m not her,  and I know. We look alike,  but no, now. If you’ll excuse me,”
She brushed passed him making use of the personal vibe that suddenly existed between them.

***On the Field***
“Right, so. Take your torch, the datapad and begin. You have nine hours to complete this,” Giant was back to his old self, though Aeos caught him glancing at her ever so often.

Her hand grazed across the black plastic cover of her datapad. On his sign her fingers curled around the edge and Aeos flipped it around. Her eyes darting across the keywords of the briefing.
Several minutes passed when she finished reading the sky-blue hued datapad’s surface. She heaved the welder from the small wooden desk in front of her and swung it through the air onto her shoulder along with a small pouch of different welding tips and spare valves.
“Right, let’s get to the location,” she muttered to herself.  She glanced at her briefing again. She was assigned to point A, her station which she needed to complete in order to pass this class.
“Ah, Welcome Sergeant, this is point A, “ muttered a young hot-shot male attendant as he flippantly saluted.
“Yeah, yeah, what’s the objective specifically?”
“We need you to enforce a wall for the barricade, finish it,” he replied pointing to half-completed petite barricade not too far from them.
“Right” muttered Aeos, her eyes already catching sight of several smallish slightly-longer-than-a-meter durasteel beams which lied about, four in total, obviously at her disposal along with a big turning mechanism filled with wet fluid cement.
“Where’s the form?”
“Form?” he blinked at her, a blank expression surfacing in his deep emerald eyes.
“Nevermind!,” she barked as she dropped her pouch along with the welder.  Aeos marched across the shrubbery terrain to where  the durasteel beams were located. Slightly peeking out from underneath one of those beams, was a thin plate of durasteel three meter square.  The small junk yard was finally rounded off with mesh wires and plates of steel lying about as well.
“Guess, I’m thinking right here,” she muttered to herself while grabbing the plate from underneath the beams. After tugging a good while, she finally managed to yank it out from underneath the heavy weight of the beams.  Aeos dragged the plate away and after creating a fire-free zone in the field, she placed the plating there.

She squatted down to the ground, and with a gloved hand, dug her fingers through the ground.
“Soft enough I guess,”
Aeos quickly bolted back for her welder. She set the flame type to a neutral based flame and activated it. A sharp blue cone formed at the mouth of the fire spewing barrel which in ended in a soft feathery form.  She darted back to the open space of durasteel and quickly cut a thirty centimeter square  form from the plate at the one corner after nearly burning her hand in the process.

Next to follow was a half-a-meter square of plating being severed off from the rest of the plating.
“Careful now,” Aeos muttered to herself as she took the piece she just managed to cut off and tipped it to the ground. Keeping it upright with the balancing act of her left hand. Instead of thrusting the flame into the plate, she instead held it at bay. Just grazing it. Not melting it. Simply softening the durasteel.
Aeos thanked the Sith for her gloves as she felt the heat penetrate the thick fabric. At least these new models of welders were a lot more sensitive than it used to be. The welder she was used to, was a simple mixture of fuel and oxygen. Or was it?  The current welder she held had an automatic identification system to the alloy and thus setting itself to new levels of pressure to use.

Finally the durasteel plate was starting to give way if she pressed it from above on the edge downward. Not wasting time, Aeos quickly deactivated the welder and laid the soft smaller plate of durasteel flat. Carefully she started rolling it like a rug or a piece of paper.
“There, done,” she grinned to herself happily as she kept her hand curled around the rolled up plate and allowed it to cool and harden.  It was sad, they couldn’t provide five poles. Saved her a lot of her time.
“Right, let’s see,”
“You always talk to yourself?”
“Yup, now shut-up, “
“Friendly gal you are,”
“Shhh!”
She grabbed the thirty centimeter square plate of durasteel and lied it down on top of the newly and roughly formed pole she just formed. Swiftly she activated her welder again, and in no time she welded the two pieces together.
I’m a genius in the making! she beamed to herself as she hugged her newly formed spade. She was lucky she welded it in the manner  that she did with the plating on top of the pole and not the other way around. Digging up that ground would need some support.
Aeos spun around, spade in her hand. Her eyes ready as it targeted itself a digging spot on the ground. Slowly she started walking while dropping the spade to the ground causing it to drag lines as she walked. Four hours have already passed. After finally marking of her square, Aeos grabbed the spade firmly and started digging the square meter marked ground.

It took another hour of digging till she found herself knee deep in a perfectly man made hole.  Clapping to herself in a child-like manner of guileless excitement, Aeos returned to her leftover scrap of durasteel plate and carefully measured out four strips each one meter in length, a size that would match the seize of the wall of her pit.
When she finally managed to cut and measure out four perfect strips, she placed them on top of each other. Grouping them to the sides like a stack of papers in her skilled hands.
She grabbed her welder again, smiling softly, welcoming a soft breeze playing again her sweaty forehead.  She picked her target near the end of the plate in the middle and Aeos set the strength of the welder to maximum, placing the barrel of the torch at the plating leaving only a centimeter of space between the mechanism and the alloy in order to avoid pressure building up.
After burning a hole clear through the strips, she repeated the process again at the other end of the plates. With two holes torched right through, which took quite a while as well, Aeos picked the plating from the ground, staggering under the surprising weight and took them to the hole.

She meshed them carefully into walls of the hole and secured the plates with each other by means of welding together the corners where the durasteel plates met up.
“At last…”
Time for them damn poles,
She strode over to the beams which remained untouched until now. Grabbing one by the end, Aeos managed in a miraculous manner to drag it over to hole.
Confidently, she plugged the one end into the hole of the durasteel wall in her pit. With a lot of wiggling she finally managed to penetrate the ground deep enough to place the remaining end of the beam into the opposing hole of the durasteel wall.
She repeated this process several times with the rest of beams till, finally it form a cross hatch form.
Now to weld them together
Aeos quickly set to work on welding the beams where they crossed each other in mind-air.

Heaving from all the activity she ventured to the attendant who studied her, amused.
“Tell me, is that quick dry cement?”
“Yep,”
“Good, good,” muttered Aeos dragging herself to where the turning mechanism was toiling cement about. Preparing herself again for another session of hard labor, Aeos started tugging at the cement container, and slowly managed to drag it over to her durasteel pit jailed in a cross-hatch.
“Easy, does it,”
Neatly yet with difficulty she managed to tilt the container and empty the cement into the pit. Aeos sighed loudly, as she dropped herself back onto her rear in the ground. The attendant neared her.
“Wow,” he muttered, not shamed of showing his surprise.
“Yes, girls do know how to work, hot-shot,”
“I didn’t say so,” he smirked in odd manner of being coy.
Cute
“But I know you thought so,” Now it was her turn to be coy.

***1 Hour later***

The cement has settled. What now lied in that pit was a piece of wall. Ready to be use for war.
“Oh shit, “
“What?” asked Chawl curiously while wiping an onyx bang of hair away from his face.
“I can’t move this wall,”
“I’m sorry Sergeant, I’m not allowed to help you with this, “ Chawl replied curtly suddenly turning blank again, returning to his role as the station attendant.
Aeos eyed his collar which was wrinkled and unbuttoned. Slight stiff with hot anger, she straightened out her own uniform. Smiling innocently she tip-toed across the small distance separating them. Smirking slightly she dragged a finger lazily across his torso.
“You do know…who my brothers are?”
“No….”
“Oh, just want you to meet them sometime, Platoon Sergeant Racus, and Radge from the Navy…”
“R-R-Ra-Racus?”
The two brothers were quite notorious, constantly and fiercely protecting their baby sister from the sins of the world.
“He’ll throw me in the brig!”
“Help me move the wall, and he won’t know,” muttered Aeos while smiling impishly.

When they finally managed to move the wall into position, Aeos glanced about.
Something’s still amiss, she thought to herself as she allowed her eyes to travel across the area. Scanning for imperfections.
“Of course!”
Chawl stifled a comment into his fist. Rather not talk.

Aeos bolted from her seated position next to him and grabbed her welder.  She quickly neared her left-over junk and randomly grabbed the wires. She tried bending them.
“Damn, stiff as a twig,” she murmured activating her welder again. She repeated the same process to the long piece of wire, the same as when she started forming a grip for her space. Softening the metal instead of melting it.

When it was soft enough Aeos started twisting the wire while dragging it out in length around an invisible form. Pretty soon she had a one meter spill of twirling wire thinned out from being so soft.  Finally it hardened again after Aeos allowed it to set.
She grabbed left over pieces of steel plating and quickly set to softening it as well. When it was soft enough, Aeos cast her welder aside, dropped to the ground, and with difficulty started tearing at the plate in her gloved hands.

With small two-inch long strips of  the copper-steel plates, Aeos managed to collect as she kept welding and tearing, she finally started bending and tying it around the wire she fashioned into a twirling twister of art display. The jagged edges that formed along the wire cut into her face as she got entangled into her creation, but finally it was ready.
“Barbed wired?” Chawl asked quirking his eyebrow in slight surprise.
“Yep,” replied Aeos who was now in the care process of dragging the wire over to the wall and placing it around the barricade.

***Thirty minutes later***

Giant eyed the barricade which was now completed.  Without warning however, he suddenly pulled out a blaster pistol and aimed it at the wall. Aeos and Chawl kept their distance far out of the way of the lecturer’s way.
Giant released the trigger, and without waiting for the smoke and debris to clear, he continued firing. Only when his energy meter ran empty did Giant stop. His eyes caught the cross of the beams between the chipped, cracked and broken cement of her wall.  He walked over to the barbed wire mesh, pulled his one glove off and flicked his index finger across the jagged tear of plating that protruded stubbornly from the wire. Blood oozed slowly from the broken skin.
“Very impressive Sergeant, though…I’d assume you made some good use of your connections in and off the field to move the wall?”  his eyes traveled from the pit, back to the barricade and finally landing on Chawl’s nervous face as he executed a crisp salute.
“More or less,” smirked Aeos

OOC:
Passed.  Well done, although my eyes may beg to differ.  Perhaps you could space it out a little more in the future? Just an extra return after some of the paragraphs will help a lot.  Doesn't hurt your quality there though. Looking forward to the next one.

Story 1: Sabotage and Demolitions

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

“It’s the start of a new day for all you lazy bums still sleeping at six AM, now’s the time to-“
“Shut up,” a voice muttered, smothered by the fabric of her pillow.
Bleary eyed Aeos’s fingers fumbled around on the radio alarm for the snooze button.
“Come now, lazy girl,” Raki giggled at her roomie who crept deeper into the thin covers of her bed.
“Why should I get out?” Aeos moaned in a muffled response.
“Because our practical exam’s gonna start in a bit silly, “
“Right, right, I’m up, I’m up,” she tumbled from her bed with a crash to the ground, tangled in sheets.
“Silly rabit,”
Aeos’ head finally poked about from underneath the sheets on the ground grinning impishly.

***1 Hour Later***
“This sucks,” Aeos mumbled, her eyes scanning the datapad for her name. They’ve been assigned individual exam times in order not to clog up the simulator rooms. Meaning she might have to wait till the end of the day for her practical exam to take place.  Currently, they were waiting for an order at the café they decided to visit outside the Academy. Seated under big flaring canary yellow umbrellas.

“Ah, got it, you’re exam is in three hours time,” Raki muttered already jumping the gun for Aeos.
So I aint gonna wait all day,
“How about you?” Aeos asked as she followed Raki’s pointed finger for her name and the time.
“At the end of the day,” the girl grumbled.
My gain, her loss, I guess Aeos though with  a little guilt stabbing her in the stomach.

***Two hours and fifty-five minutes later***
“At ease Sergeant,” the lecturer muttered as Aeos reported with a crisp salute.  He beckoned her to step through the door of the simulator, which she followed with no hesitant thoughts.
The doors closed behind her with a pressurized hiss.  A few seconds after Aeos nearly jumped from her skin as his voice boomed through unseen speakers in the room.
“You’re objective is simple, sabotage and neutralization of enemy and enemy defenses with whatever means at your disposal, in this exam, you will be marked according to your ability in making use of explosives, the creation, use and tactics of it,”
“Right, you lot sure know to increase the stress factors, don’t you?” Aeos remarked as she pulled her shoulders back and loosened them.
“Are you ready?”
“Yes,”

The room brightened in a flash of white before it started dissolving into different sets of various colours. Eventually it formed into realistic planes of depth, composing into a new reality for Aeos’ brain to process.

She stood on the outcrop of a small cliff which dipped sharply into a small valley filled mostly with fresh river water. Donned in standard stormtrooper gear. Out of habit, she removed her helmet.  Next to her, were a backpack and a bit further on, a mere few yards away was a 660 utility lander speeder.  Two simulated troopers stood next to her, waving while they were in the process of loading cargo.

Aeos stooped down and gripped the bag on the one side with her hand while tearing down the strap on the other side. The bag fell open on the grass displaying an interesting collection of junk and actual explosive products.
A soft whistled escaped through her teeth while she grinned impishly as she managed to identify some of the detonators. Some these blokes you couldn’t even buy in the store at times.  Clipped to the bag was a basic compass.

“No fancy hmh?”
She quickly brought the straps together and fastened the display back into the backpack it was. She managed to launch it onto her shoulder with a bit of a heave before she finally turned to the horizon, compass in view.

“Right-enemies located  forty-five degrees to the north,” she read out loud to herself , her eyes darting across the onyx and emerald tiled screen. Bit old-school technology as it did the job for her.
She turned to the direction from which the screen blinked. A smirk etched across her face as she realized exactly where they located. A few miles downstream next to the river.  She glanced back at the utility speeder, and cocked her head to the side.

“Oi!”
“Yes, Ma’am?” one trooper replied. She dubbed him Red one.
“What do we have here?”
“We’re not sure Ma’am, to be honest,” the other one replied as his hand scratched the back of his helmeted head. Red Two.  Frowning, she cast her helmet aside and stepped up to one of the containers. She removed the cap.

A very distinct smell rose from the open lid,
“Lighter fluid,”
She continued looking through the heavy junk already weighing down on the flat surface of the speeder.
Shrugging, Aeos clambered aboard and gestured to the troopers to make a move on.
A few minutes later and the threesome found themselves enjoying a country roadtrip as Aeos steered through the flora of the land, heading down to the river.
She was pretty much sure that the enemy would make some use of the river’s energy as resource, whether it was for creating hydro electricity, or as a delivery canal, or even just a resource as food and water.

“So, what’s the plan?”  Red Two asked, while keeping his eye on the tracker of her compass.
“Blow up the river,” she muttered smirking.
“I’m assuming we’ll split up?”
“Yep, well, you lot will be handling the river thingy, I’m hoping they rely on the river for a source power, meaning if you cut it, it will neutralize their defenses, I’ll sneak in plant some nifty booms and mission accomplish this dam  task,” She grinned.

After a while of switching back and forth between the best options and plans, Aeos finally split away from the two troopers on foot with a few of the basic equipment in her backpack. Much to her own regret, she had to give up most of the nifty little explosive buggers in order to bring the river sides down.

“Right, not a big outpost, -“
A whirring noise emitted from the microbinoculars when she zoomed in.
“Ah!, Only one turret, east fence…electrical fence, yes, one, two, three fence linies, lets see—“  she traveled the focus of the binoculars to the rivers and let out a small gasp as the peak of a large turning wheel was spotted right above the flora at river banks.
She could only assume that the wheel was somehow in tune with the power for the small camp serving as a basic yet cheap generator for power. Well, once the river was crashed closed per order to her simulated assistant troopers, then hopefully…

“In position?”
“Give me a minute,” Aeos relied back as she got back to her feet from behind the boulder and set off in a quick jog nearing the camp from the shrouded side of the forest with speed and caution.
“Right, you lot ready?”
“Yes Ma’am”
“One my count…three…two…one-“
A boom vibrated through the ground as the rumbles of falling boulder, rocks, and debris echoed through the nestled valley.

“What was that?”
One of the guards lining down the fence on the enemy line looked up alarmed.
“No-Yes, I’ll come over,” he spoke through what Aeos assumed was his Comlink.
“It was gonna take a minute or two for the river to come to an complete halt, in which Aeos bided her time, edging ever so close to the fence which was quickly losing its generated power.

She opened her hand wide, palm facing the fence and patted it a few times in quick jerks of movements.

Doing what she was best at, Aeos took a leap at the fence, and with an unaturual understanding for the laws of gravity, she clambered across the thin yet strong wires of the fence. She reached the top in sheer seconds, and balanced herself for a moment, while readying her joints for a hard crash to the ground when she jumped down to the other side.

Just as her hands manage to steady her fall, she heard a snap!, her head bolted to the source and her eyes widened when a bolt of blue ran in lightspeed down the length of the fence curling around each pole in emphasis.

Shit! They have a back-up generator?
She didn’t have a lot of time and started sprinting to where she calculated the turret was. There was one problem though…the sensors. If this was a fresh-out-of-the box turret, it would mean it was programmed with the latest software as well.

Ability to distinguish between enemy heat signatures and friendly ones. There was no way to make even use of the enemy guards’ bodies as shield in order to near the turret. Unless…

Aeos smirked, as she pulled the two flasks from her utility belt along with two strips of fabric.  She emptied it almost an hour ago and filled both with light fluid. She proceeded to tap some of the little fuel the utility speeder made use of and mixed it with the fluids in her flasks.

Now for the results.  She was still jogging, missing all three of the guards miraculously at each point and turn of the small camp with its three makeshift building as she inspected the layout.  She paused at the corner of the building which obscured the turret from current view.

She stole a quick glance around the corner, trying to identify the model.
Right…this one is light she thought to herself. A mere ten meters was its sensing range for hostilities.
The three guards have finished inspecting the cause of the rumble, and were actually now slightly alerted aware of the river sabotage.

She bided her time at the corner of the building while the guards kept nearing her, still unaware. She ignited her zippo carefully and silently. As soon as the nearest one was in range Aeos set the strip now inserted through the top of the flask on fire and threw it through, and smack right into his torso.
“What the-“
He didn’t finish his sentence as Aeos who had her DC-15 ready shot at the flask throwing the male into a fit of flames.  The other two were soon forced into his position as Aeos neatly managed to hit the last lit flask on target as it zoomed through the air pass their heads.

The trio very much alive yet burning couldn’t comprehend the pain running through nerves as the flames licked at the armour, the lghter fluids seepings through the nooks and crannies of the armour. Aeos was now not on their list of priorities.  Of course this was all still a simulation.

She grabbed her helmet which was strung around her neck with a piece of steel string and pulled it over her head. She sped to the nearest burning guard, and ignoring the head, grabbed him by his neck, proton grenade ready in the other hand.

Hopefully, the fire burning at the guards would have changed their heat signatures, even if slightly for the turret to misplace in identifying them and shoot at them.  Sure enough, just as she or they came in range the turret ripped open in a barrage of open fire.  One blast scorches into her exposed shoulder from behind the burning and screaming male.

Not sure whether the turret was going hay-wire at her, or the guard, Aeos pushed the man in front her while keeping behind him the whole time, when she was within range she pulled the proton grenade into an active state of duty and launched it through the air before dropping to the ground sharply, not knowing what to expect and suddenly the world flashed away in a white light.

Her eyes blinking rapidly, her breathing ragged, Aeos woke into a stupor state of anxiety on the floor of the simulator room.
“You’re dismissed Sergeant,”
“Right, Sir,” she muttered at the voiceless embodiment of her lecturer who was most likely gazing at her through those black mirrors lining the walls in the now darkened room.

“When do I get my results?”
“As soon as I’m done reviewing through the recordings of your mission,”
“Err….right, sure” she relied to the speakers while executing a crispy salute.
“Dismissed,”

OOC:
Well, I hope its better paragraphed this time, I'm gonna blame my Word processor this time if the paragraphs are still weird^^
Sorry if it was a bit long

OOC:
Long isn't an issue at all Ae, and passed as well.  Love the little cute map as well.  And paragaph spacing is good, don't worry about it too much, if it bothers me, I can always space it out myself, a little extra work can't really kill me... I hope

Story 2: Mine/Countermine

Course: Mine and Countermine
Course Type: Lecture / Practical Exam
Course Description: Troopers will need to go through a short lecture on the procedure of mining and countermining. The lecture will most likely consist of the proper techniques of mine laying, recognizing where a mine is placed, and how to disarm a mine if need be. After the lecture, troopers will be expected to go through a practical exam to demonstrate their proficiency in mining and countermining.

Yukkuria
“Strange assignment,” she muttered to herself out loud in her room while dragging her datapad closer into across the table. She quickly punched the coordinates of the name into the small screen, and split-seconds later a map popper up on her screen of Tadath before zooming to the designated location.
IMG

“What are the stats on this little island?” she wondered out loud again though when
The information loaded and suddenly Aeos found reason to sit upright.  She bit her lip. This assignment went even above her usual missions.

Her fingers subconsciously fingered around with the small new badges attached to her grey uniform.

City: Yukkuria
Level:  3
Population: forty thousand
Her eyes skimmed across the briefing as well as the history rounding this small city.
Until recently, it was in a state of emergency due to several attacks of a terrorist group who have rendered most of the farmable lands into a field of explosions by means of mines.  They’ve been captured, but the city was losing resources and economical stability fast due to the farmers’ inability to continue breeding some of the commercial products.
Her assignment was to go to one of the local school there, and talk to one of the schools about “mine awareness” and then of course set of to the local farm community of that part in the city in order to the clear the field.

“Guess, I better gets going…” she mumbled.

***A few hours later***

She sat on the shuttle bench lining the inner skeleton of the vehicle, scratching the animal behind its ear, her hand firmly clutched around the leash for the animal.  It was a fierce looking animal with strangely form facial features which much to Aeos’ happiness seemed create open space around her.

“That’s a good boy, my little Seth,” she murmured fondly at the tiger-like creature.  Most of his species gone extinct, or rather declared extinct, Aeos was extremely fortunate to be in possession of this animal, especially with his fur which was snowy velvet of soft curls.

In most cases, she would make use of electronically devices to detect the mines, but if this mines were laid by an amateur then his human smell could linger faintly enough to picked up by one of the galaxy’s most skilled natural hunters.
Plus, she would rock the kids with this snuffer.

***Much later in Yukkuria***
She coughed.
“Um hi…”
A deep blush spread across her face as two-thousand pairs of eyes remained fixated at her.
She coughed as her voice cracked again. A small nine-year old in the front giggled nervously at the silly female with her dog on the stage.
“Right, so…who have you have seen a mine before?”
Two thousand hands flew into the air,
“And I guess they all looked square, roughly made with limited electronics, right?”
A few in the front “aahhed” and “yeahed”
She took a deep breath, her hand resting on Seth’s long nose.
“Well, I’m here today to tell you more about…-“

-mines can be found in various shapes and sizes,”
“Duh!” one trooper shouted out. The lecturer rolled his eyes at the trooper, who was still fresh judging by his Corporal status.
Aeos merely grumbled as she lifted her head lazily from her arms.
“There are two types of mine clearances, which is important to know and more important to distinguish, namely; military clearances, and humanitarian clearances,  now who wants to have a go at explaining military clearances….no one? -Aeos?”

Aeos glanced up slightly caught off guard.
“Um yeah,” she grinned while stealing a glance at her notes.
“Military clearances would prioritize on creating a simple path for a patrol or group to bridge across, it focuses on nothing else except creating a clear path,”
The lecturer nodded while pulling at the tuffs of his moustache.
“And humanitarian?”
“Clearing fields for social upheaval and public relief purposes, “
“Correct,” he continued. She slumped back down on her arms again.
The session continued for hours on end, covering the types of detectors, finding the right chemical substance to combust with the substances that leaked from certain types of mines, this effectively making it easier to detonate the mine.

Though the lecturer warned them several times to listen as this would get practical.

“You lot, there are fields-“

“Filled entirely with mines?”
She was talking to the community leader from the area. The city’s workers worked on several community farms, thus half of the city was currently stagnating.

Right now, they were standing at the side of the large field, shrubbery have already overtaken the large field due to the lack of maintenance because of the mines threatening the ground and the farmers’ lives.

Aeos stared around for a while, her hand resting through the curly black fur of her large pet. Surrounded by locals who were all staring at her with dumb hopeful eyes.
“You lot have a plow?”
Somebody coughed.
“Um…we don’t use plows anymore Sergeant,”
“Get me a plow,” she muttered ignoring the speaker’s mumbling.

It was another hour later. She ordered her pet to stay while  Aeos hopped onto LAAT, skiing into the pilot’s seat. She glanced backwards. Through the wide open doors of the vehicle, waiting for signal.

Currently they were still located next to the field, but this time occupying a large space of field with the LAATi vehicle and a plow which was attached to the vehicle through means of a strong durasteel cable. She was taking shortcuts with this.

“Ready?”
“Yes!” one of the men cried out to her,
“Good, clear out, the whole lot of you!” Aeos relied back while her hand flipped across the ignition plate.  She grinned as she carefully brought the vehicle into the air.
“Easy does it,” she mumbled to herself, her body searching for that twang sensitivity that would hit the vehicle as soon as the cable was straining between her and the plow.

From afar, trembles starting rumbling through the ground as Aeos pulled the plow through the fields setting off numerous mines in the process. It took her an hour of zig-zagging in rows up and down before she was one-hundred percent sure about whether she had clear the field or not.  Every piece of rock was overturned with small crates that dipped several meters into the loose ground.
She pulled her lips together and whistled sharply for Seth. The dog perked its ears excitedly as it set off towards the field she just plowed. She remained hovering in the air as the dog made a sniffing sweep about the overturned ground.  He barked at her with flashing fangs and a big red tongue limply hanging from his mouth comically. The field was clear.

“Right, this field is cleared sir,” she muttered when she finally stepped off from the LAATi.
“Thank you! Thank you, my dear lady,” one farmer stuttered, his rugged beard scraping across her exposed hand as he dropped into a low bow while grabbing her hand. Aeos pulled it back swiftly, cradling it away with she remained glancing at the poor bloke with suspicious eyes.

“No need for that, thank you” she muttered, slightly awkward while stepping back ever so slightly till she bumped her head at the back against the hull of the LAATi.
“Seth!” she whistled sharply, the small crowd around her cleared pretty quickly as the large dog-like, tiger-sized creature came bouncing through the air at her.
“Good, boy,” she mumbled into his thick fur, burying her face in his neck.  Hiding the mischievously impish grin.
It was almost thirty minutes later, and Aeos was finally alone. She sat her speeder, wrong way around, resting her head on the steering mechanism, her back comfortably molding along with seat’s awkward curves. She readjusted her dark sunglasses while staring up ahead at the clear yet chilly sky of Zukkuria.  It was a bit less tropical here then back at HQ. Seth remained at her side on the ground, his nose tipping against his tail, while his emerald eyes rested on her attentively.

She closed her eyes again; her body absolutely reveling in the warm sunlight it was absorbing till….
- Something tugged at her side, slipping its finger through her utility belt and tugging, wanting attention. Curious, yet strangely unalarmed, Aeos merely brought one hand to tip her glasses down in order t look at the disturber properly.

The eleven year old boy grinned excitedly at her. His one hand was curling around a plastic toy LAATi.
“Miss, you mentioned the word area denial weapons earlier, what it is?” he smiled naively while he dropped his rear unceremoniously to the heap of dirt behind him.  One dirty little hand roughly disposed of an onyx fringe but it only fell back across his eyes.
Aeos smiled softly and brought herself upright from the speeder seat. She hopped off the vehicle and took a seat next him.
“Well, to be very simple about it, it’s when you cover the ground in obstacles like huge stakes of wood or types of cements that slows the enemy down,  you even get it up in space. Can you guess what type-“
“Like asteroid fields?” he quipped with glistening eyes.
“Smart little kid,” Aeos reached over to ruffle his hair.

”Most mines these days are made with formulated artificial elements in order to outdate detectors which wouldn’t recognize it. We do get detectors which pick it up, but it’s a mighty sum of money however, no, anyone here can tell me how to lay an mine?”

“Hide it good; even if it’s tedious for terrorist means, air drop for speedy completion or implant with special vehicle, can I go?” Aeos quipped from her back seat. She ignored the powerful glances sent her way. So the kid in the back of the row actually talked.

It was a few hours later when Aeos was finally left alone. Her maundering thoughts received a cold dash of icy water when the Com-Link activated a call.
“Sergeant? How is it going over there?”
Her lecturer was actually throwing a vocal peek on her through Com-Link.
“All goes good, will be finished in the next few days, Sir,”
“Good, I’ve been hearing that you’re doing a clean job so far, keep up the work, “
“Right on, Sir,” Aeos replied before clicking the link dead. She dropped her head back onto Seth’s stomach. The animal vibrated against her back in pleasure at the attention her left hand was giving to his throat. All was good.

Story 1: Navigation

Course Description: Troopers will be expected to navigate themselves around various types of terrain. This course could place a trooper in a number of different circumstances. The most obvious is getting a trooper lost and have them find their way back. Troopers must also learn to recognize physical signs in the terrain that might give a practical advantage in a battle situation.

Aeos was jogging. Hard.
Narrowed blue eyes frowned at the large snow-white dog in front of her who barked excitedly yet tauntingly at the wheezing trooper she has become.
I really, really need to jog more, paperwork… is cramping my style, the Platoon Sergeant thought to herself while sweeping a bang of blond hair from her face.
From across the large meadow field Aeos noticed a short shadow waiting at the far end, enjoying the shade of one of the few Cepany trees that survived Tadath’s tropical atmosphere.
“I daresay, that this is not a very flattering experience to witness,”  the Platoon Commander muttered amusedly when Aeos came to abrupt halt next to him.  Flustered she tried to wipe away as much of the buildup sweat in her already reddened face.
“I daresay, it is not, Commander,”
“You do know I have a name,”
“Eh…remind me? Bob…right?” Aeos muttered light-heartedly grabbing the towel that hung from the branch of the cepany tree. Still wheezing for breath, she pulled it around her neck while whistling sharply. Riqimo arched his eyebrows for a second in surprise, before he finally noticed Seth’s presence nearing them.
“Ah, that-“
“Shhh, he can hear you,” Aeos said in dead serious tone,
He shook his head, and started walking with her. “So, to what do I owe the pleasure of being graced with your presence?”  Aeos asked after a while.
“Nothing really, thought I’ll stretch my legs for a change, saw you on the field, and decided I can help you feel humiliated,”
“I’m flattered,” she replied dryly.
“Good, friends should flatter one another,”
“So…Sir- Riqimo, um, why are you here?” Aeos asked ignoring his previous statement of mirth.
She glanced at Riqimo with wary eyes.
The short man grinned while he stifled a cough with his fist.
“Thought I’ll pass the personal news to you, your specialty classes shifted on schedule-“
“For some reason I get the feeling that my class started a few minutes ago,”
The Platoon Commander smirked.
Aeos resisted the temptation of smacking him up the head, restrained by the professional etiquette between restricting them. She smirked however after a while, and risked whacking him. Laughter bubbled from her mouth as she turned on heel to the right, bee-lining for the nearest shower.
“I’m your boss!” he called out after her.
“Good friends are allowed to smack each other…boss!” she shot back still laughing before disappearing around the corner of the next building.

***
Aeos blew a whiff of hair that fell from her tied back fringe away from her nose while her eyes strained themselves to recognize sense of direction in the midst of a heavy jungle.  They had dropped her off over an hour ago in the middle of nowhere which seemed to be located in a tropical jungle. Of course she wasn’t betting on being drugged halfway, or being knocked unconscious and had woke up almost thirty minutes ago, with the majority of the latter time being spent to recompose her motor functions such as walking.

She was currently dressed in a simple uniform, and woke up earlier next to a compact backpack which beheld the details of her navigational briefing as well as some basic navigational equipment. The young soldier only pulled out the map and blipped a marker down on where she needed to head before stuffing everything back into backup, now knowing where to head. Experience had taught her that basic instinct if trained properly outclassed all technology.

She had a nagging suspicious she got the drugs and knock for the sheer fact of being one of the most experienced soldiers in her class. A subject such as navigation for a squad-leader whose squad specialty lied in recon, this should not be too difficult if being tasked with the basics. Obviously her superiors decided it was not fair.
Riqimo… Suddenly it dawned on her,
“No wonder the bluddy clown though he’ll pass the message personally, prolly gave birth to the idea,” she grumbled. Soon however the grumbles were replaced with soft snickers as the image of Riqimo came up, sitting in a bed positioned like the typical mid-aged wife giving birth traditionally-
“Bad image, bad!”  she scorned at herself, though a mirthful twitch remained at the corner of her mouth.  This was probably after effects of the knock and drugs that was causing her shaky concentrations to swerve away from the task at hand.

Aeos finally discarded her thoughts away from whatever could be distractive to her survival course.
“Rightio,”
She glanced up at the sky, making a futile attempt at searching for the sun.  The dank humidity clung to her skin making her itchy and irritable. Grabbing a vague idea of which direction lied where with help of the sun’s beams cascading shadows into the grounds as it bounced against the numerous trees. She had a general idea of which way to head now, and set off at creating her own little path through the jungle.

Nicking several olive berries on the way of her bundu bashing, Aeos smashed the soft slightly venomous fruits together in her hands and rubbed out the juicy oil leaking from the broken skins across her exposed arms. She had a nagging feeling that the whole insect part of this little exercise had yet to come, better prepare for it.

It was a few hours later when Aeos arrived at her destination, twigs stuck in her hair, mud smeared across her face.  Upon stumbling into the small clearing, giving a final swat to the flies around her, Aeos stepped up to the checkpoint. A simple desk strangely located in the smack bang middle of nowhere gave off an eerie feeling which Aeos opted to ignore.

“Damn, I’m gonna owe the Sarge a thousand,” the station clerk seated behind the desk muttered grinning as he checked her down on his list along with the time it took her to complete.
Aeos jumped when she suddenly heard her lecturer’s familiar booming voice behind her.
“Right, Sergeant, no use in putting you through more of the practical exams, since your level of navigation skill and actual field experience is a bit above the class, so I’ll just ask a few basic questions, and then have you perform some tests on some of the basic equipments, that fine?”
Aeos turned on her heel to face the much larger robust man.
“I’d be happy to do that, “ she replied grinning sheepishly.  The lecturer arched an eyebrow at her amused and gestured her to follow him.

Much surprise Aeos followed him around the LAATi that stood next to the desk, they were still waiting for the rest of her class to pitch.  It has successfully obscured another small fold-up desk, and a two steel chairs. He motioned her to take a seat.

“What is the basic type of environments one usually comes across to and feel free to explain them the basics to me,”
Aeos groaned inwardly. Easy question, long answer, she straightened herself, and coughed before launching into a detailed explanation.

“Arid , Grasslands, Oceanic, Mountain, Arctic, Wetlands, Forest, and desert are the basics really, and each one is pretty self-explanatory. Arid, I can safely say is in most cases a very brief experience offering little hiding and surviving it depends solely on when you decide to drop from an arial craft into enemy territory. Oceanic is most likely the most difficult environment  due to the lack of ground, desert and arctic would follow-….”

It took her a full ten minutes to go through the details, before she finally came to an conclusion;
“The last environment, would be urban, though I doubt I have to got rough the details in there with you-“
The instructor snorted and shook his head.
“You’re lazy,”
Aeos grinned sheepishly again. They both knew what he meant by that. She outranked him even, and also held the highest position in the class. Which brought the next question to surface: What the hell was she doing there? And the natural answer would be: Aeos wasn’t interested in theory till very late in her Army career when she actually started needing it.

“I’m even going to bother with the equipment, just for the sake of being official, name the few navigational basics that can be used without equipment,”
Pfft, easy Aeos grinned slyly.
“Wind, sun and stars,”
“And what are the dangers of these three?”

“In order to understand wind, you need to understand the geographies of the planet beforehad, and even then wind only aids in most circumstances at predicting weather. Overcast can shield the sun, and in other circumstances which is not uncommon is; there are multiple planets operating with more then just one sun, the stars is tricky, and finding a specific location without firsthand knowledge about the system’s charts is risky. In general however, to keep direction you only have to use the stars as markers. Stars can be shielded from sight by clouds as well, and there are also the chances of some planets that are not exposed to darkness due to multiple suns,”

He grumbled again as he dotted down some notes while Aeos was catching her breath.
“Heh, get in the shuttle, passed and shutup. Take a shower and report tomorrow for class…on time…

Aeos stifled a giggle and executed a crisp salute.
“Thank you, Sir”
“Dismissed,”

    Story 2: Battlefield Recon

Doc.Course: Battlefield Recon
Course Type: Practical
Course Description: Trooper will be taught how to do some basic reconnaissance based on terrain. Trooper will also be expected to be able to make battle plans based on terrain and enemy location.

Reconnaissance is about studying enemy data on various areas by means of direct observation. It’s the practical side-arm of gathering ground INTEL on enemy.

Recon is the need of knowledge about enemy disposition

“Thanks….this…nice,” her lips puckered slightly and left a small gap of breath to be exhaled.

The steam of her liwi soup waffled away, and she risked a small sip. Her bright blue eyes casually met with his chocolate brown eyes settled under heavy brows currently pulled in a light frown. Racus only nodded as he intertwined his fingers into one another, and rested his elbows on the snow-white fabric which served as table cloth for the cepany coffee table.  It’s been months since they saw one another. In fact…the last time he saw her was when he waved her off to the Naval Academy.

“Are you happy with me?” she asked her brother. The hero decorated officer sighed at her question.

“You’re so…unpredictable, everyone, including Radge has been hoping that you would head back home,”

The sister refrained from snorting into a soup and busies herself as she pressed cold lips against the warm porcelain of her cup.

“Well, you don’t have reason to be embarrassed any more, do you brother?”

Racus sighed as he raked a hand through his short military cropped hair.

“Exactly, so shuttup and tell me the reason why you invited me for lunch,” Aeos stiffly muttered, aware of the fact that she was completely estranged from her oldest brother.

“No reason in particular, though I’ll warn you that you’re next specialty class, Battlefield Recon will be conducted by me,”  he softly muttered.

For a moment the siblings said nothing as the waiter bought in their main course. Racus grimaced at Aeos. He preferred to be vegetarian if the occasion allowed it, and Aeos simply shrugged off the mild sensitivity by ordering a dish of spicy chocobos. It was a special yet sadistic request that brought a smirk of mirth to Aeos’ face at the disgust both her brother and the waiter shared.

“Don’t forget the saffron peppermint spice!” Aeos called out loudly grinning from ear to ear.

This lunch was probably half her pay-check, but then again, despite her disorganized state of mind, Aeos was able to keep a check on her financial situation.

***The following day***
Hide me, hide me, hide me
She was cowering underneath her desk, way at the back of the class, the only shred of light flickering from her datapad. She might have been warned about her brother being her teacher in this level but it still did not mean that she could prepare herself mentally for it, hence the reason why Aeos was currently hiding. The rowdiness of the class settled into silence which clearly indicated that her brother just made his entrance.

“Platoon Sergeant Tadres, get your rear on the chair, or I’ll write to Ansion, for you mo-“

“Right! I’m up, I’m up!” Aeos shouted bolting back into her seat.

Her brother smirked from across the room as he activated his own datapad. Aeos had to give it to him, he’s a lot less uptight then he used to be.
“Right, I’m Sergeant Major Tadres, and I will be conducting and overseeing today’s lesson, and no, I’m not related to the shrimp Sergeant at the back of the class, common name on home planet, now to proceed…”

The rest all went in through the one ear, out of the other as Aeos only slumped back into a state of pretend-to-listen.  A good hour had passed and then another. Here and there Aeos caught whiff of one word or two but in general forty winks had passed and suddenly the class was staring at her. Grinning sheepishly Aeos realized there was a question aimed at her. His stern gaze made her squirm in her seat, and it forced her into standing up. She coughed.

“What was the question, Sir?” she asked timidly.

“There was no question, I was taking registry before we head out,” he replied icily.

She coughed again, though this time it more of an excuse to hide behind her hand.

***
You barely listened to anything I said, how you can expect to pass-“

“Shutup brother, I do know how to read, and unlike these morons of corporals, I do have some experience here, now back-off” Aeos snapped.

Racus frowned at her as he tried to match her quicker yet shorter strides. They were on their way to one of the many fields the Academy had, where a practical test awaited Aeos and her class.

“Objective is: take what you’ve learned in the class, and apply it now. The class will act as group; you will you little base camp about two kilometers, north from here if you drive straight. Goodluck,”

Racus had left the talking to the shorter man beside him while he glared daggers into Aeos’ back which was currently in the actions of stretching and warming up. The class was soon dismissed to be off doing their objective. Aeos kicked hard into the sides of her speeder five minutes later, and with a whine emitting from the powerful technology all the speeders sped off.  They had decided before hand who were to observe enemy location and who would analyze the data collected. Naturally Aeos chose to be one of the observers.

***A while later***
“Hi, Ret, that’s five tanks…”

It was the dead of the night, icy cold and dirty, Aeos felt a thrill shiver through her spine. She was in her element. They currently hiding in the underbushes on the edge of a rather large clearance where a base designated as enemy territory were situated. The spray light which rotated from certain height, position at the top of the fences sprayed its beams across the ground, and Aeos ducked, pressing her face against the cold grovel of the ground.  Her eyes locked onto her wrist.  Finally the beams left their little piece of ground.

“Ret, that every two minutes, are recording?”

“Yes, Ae…got it on my voicebox,” Ret replied while he spoke into his small wrist recorder.

“I wonder if the fences are electrical…” she softly asked, not directing the question to anyone in particular.

She made a move to get up from her commando-crawled positioned, only to squirm back into the ground.
Ret threw her a confused glance through his mucky brown fringe.  The sound of barking answered his questioning thoughts however.  Fear at being discovered, Ret and Aeos kept as still as they could.
The large kay-nine threw his large fury body against the fence surrounding the camp. In response the fence rattled, answering Aeos question; the fence was indeed not electronically charged.  The guard leading the dog stared out through the fence suspiciously until a small fruit bat swept low past his head.

“Stupid dog, it’s a damn bat,” he muttered shaking his head and towing the dog away.

“Let’s recount that, five tanks, three speeders, two guard shifts…with spray-lights…any squad artillery?” Ret whispered hoarsely. His nerves shot on end.

“No, not from what I gather,”

A few hours later, and Aeos along with her squad reported back to Racus. He glanced over their reports.

“I see you understand now how to jot down basic recon and whatnot, now the next exercise will be to make basic battle plans based on recon, your physical advantage against enemy position, report to the simulators. This will be done separately. Aeos you may follow me first,”

Grinning, the mud-covered sister followed her sibling to the simulators, where he strapped her in for her next practical test.
“Don’t fail-“
“Shut up and go,” she replied smiling as she rested her head back and closed her eyes.

***
***
Why was it so cold?
Her sky-blue slowly opened, or rather attempted to open.
Aeos pried the snow-crystals that glued her eyelashes together, and slowly her eyes cracked open.

“What…?”
It was white and electric blue everywhere. The wind nipped at her face relentlessly and only now did Aeos notice the protective goggles hanging down from her neck.  She clamped them over her eyes tightly, welcoming the protection it offered.

“Ah, you’re awake,” someone muttered.
She glanced at the sort. Some type of snowball was talking to her.  With a shock she realized that the snowball was a trooper, completely covered in layers of clothes.

“Where’s your armour?” she asked stupidly, noticing she was at least wearing some.

“Back at the base, follow me,” he answered pulling her to her feet.

Scowling, Aeos set off after him in the arctic world.  They were jogging down from a small hill, which gave off a spectacular view of the rest of the icy world.A few minutes later and she found herself hovering over maps and area schematics. A big x marked where the enemy troopers were currently located. The digital x were slowly moving pixel by pixel however on the screen as they progressed. Aeos’ eyes narrowed while she scanned an analyzed the map.

“Why are they moving so slow, what is the numbers?”

“We’ve got about a platoon of troopers there, they are fully armed and armored. We have not yet been detected however, for the moment they think they are alone which is…”

“Why they are taken shortcut across the frozen lake,” Aeos finished while her fingers trace the contour lines on the map.

“How thick is layer of ice?”

“I…erm,”

“Find it out!”  she barked.

Almost an hour had passed before she received news.
“One meter thick,” the trooper reported with wheezing breaths.
Aeos narrowed her eyes.

“Thick, but thin enough, get me a a squad of demolition engineers, have them geared up and set here,” she ordered.
It was another few minutes later when all the demolition experts turned up, dumbfounded a bit. Aeos had meanwhile managed to copy a projected image of the arctic map onto the wall.

“Troopers, our enemy is currently that ex, and I what I need is for you lot to do is, set up a radius as close to the enemy without being spotted. Proceed to plant’s explosive all around in that radius, hopefully with your tactics, we can make their little island cave into the water as well, with no support on the island borders, their weight will crush the ice layer on the inside,”

All the while she was talking she kept pointing and gesturing to the map to explain her plan. Several nods of understanding rippled through the room before Aeos dismissed.

She stood on the small outcrop of a cliff that viewed far above the lake on which the enemy target was spotted hours before. Through her microbinoculars, Aeos was following the movements of her demolition experts with eagle eyes. So far so good. No has been spotted yet and they were almost done inserting the long tubed bombs through small drill holes in the layer surrounding the moving target. The danger of this plan was time. They planted the device at the back first, then at the front while keeping an permanent eye on the enemy who was ever moving.

“Explosives planted, no detection, we sent some jamming signals on their radars to be sure,” a voice crackled in her ear.
“Right, detonation is on your call,” she replied back into the radio.
Whoever speaking to her didn’t miss a second of her order, and immediately activated the explosives.

Aeos closed her eyes, while the sounds boomed through the air. They were lucky that they were in the middle of a four-kilometer long snow plain free of hills and mountains, otherwise they might have had a problem with avalanches.

She opened her eyes again, and poked a peek through the microbinoculars. As she suspected, the explosives cracked the enemy target’s vicinity into a small island while the sheer force of the explosives were spreading cracks through the island.  Aeos made sure that two circles of explosion were place with the outer rim exploding first. The second inner rim would take care of splintering the ice. Soon the enemy platoon was caving into the water, the desperate troopers struggling to survive. Those that made an attempt to reach the sturdy land, received a mercy shot through the forehead while their comrades had to face death in the icy darkness of the lake.

Aeos woke abruptly from her trance. Racus was already nearing her with long strides. When he reached her, he started entrapping her. His face was silent, and stern.

“Did I pass?” she asked nimbly, and slightly paralyzed, her mind trying to adapt to the warmed temperature and surrounding.

“With flying colours,” he said before his face broke into a grin.

Her didn’t tell her about the small jolt of shock he experienced at her display. What she just pulled off was far above what he expected from her.

“Good, you can buy me a drink,” she muttered grinning back.

OOC:
Passy Passy, good to see we got the thing from the last one into there.  Next one will be, as you said, a 'blast' so let's see where that goes.  Look forward to it.

Level 7: Combat Engineer Qualification
Story 1: Improvised Munitions

She snapped the gloves over hands. The yellow pigments of the rubber were upsetting to her eyes with its stark ugliness. She pulled on the baby-blue overall, stained all over in dark blue and green splotches with the occasional odd rusty red spots in between. All the robes were singed at slightly burned. She strapped the protective headgear tightly before pulling the protective goggles over her eyes. Her fingers fumbled around the edges of her helmet, tucking away the last of the blonde strands escaping into her face.
Aeos was now in the last level of her Combat Engineering Specialty, and she couldn’t afford her usual display of nonchalant thoughts and mirth.

The students avoided making contact with one another as they prepped themselves for the class test course about to follow through the next door.
A fatal mistake or miscalculation could mean the end of their career or worse their lives. Distraction would be fatal.

“Students, please proceed through to the next room. Remember to take a basket with which you can collect at the door.

Aeos proceeded to do the as the faceless voice instructed from behind dark mirrors in a microphone. She was first in line to collect her basket before stepping through the room.

The next room was huge and lined with wide and lengthy containers each divided in sub-compartments filled to the brim with materials, acids and objects.
Aeos proceeded through the small pathways, to the acids first where she stopped to collect a bottle of sulphuric acid, gasoline and potassium chlorate.
For the last item, which was sugar, Aeos had to cross the opposite end of the room to where the household items were kept.  The only things left now was some string, glass bottles in varying size as well as paper towels and a stopper.

Another room followed through the one door where work stations were located for them to work with. The steely surfaces sink with taps and small object s of glass and plastic alike would be their tools in this test.

She immediately bee-lined to the nearest station and sorted her items out in specific order.  She was pretty sure that her samples of sulphuric acid was concentrated, so no use in bothering to cook it again.
She continued to grab the bottle of gasoline, and started pouring it into of the bigger bottle containers. When it was two thirds full, she slowly and meticulously added the sulphuric acids until the open space in the bottle were filled fifty percent.  She concluded this phase by placing the stopper.

She proceeded to wash the bottle containing the two fluids, cleaning it of any excess fluids that might have spread across the half-sphere form of the bottle.  She grabbed a few paper towels, several in fact and proceeded to wrap it around the bottle to ensure safety when she’d handle it again. She snapped the rubber string around the papertowels, securing it tightly.

Grinning from ear to ear, Aeos’ bright eyes sparkled in delight. She should have studied this at home perhaps. It was sheer fun. She activated the stove, and stood back for a few seconds, waiting for the blue flame to heat up properly.  A small glass container was suspended above the flame with a triangular supportive structure.
When the water was semi-luke she added the x amount of sugar and potassium chlorate. Slowly she stirred it, and allowed the fluids to mix with one another.

She realized her mistake all of a sudden and gently plucked the steel spoon away. She was not supposed to stir.  Mentally slapping herself, she set the plate to boiling. As soon as the content temperature reached a safe peak, she deactivated the plates completely and allowed it to cool down.

Around her, students were slowly starting to make conclusions on their own little projects as well. Luckily no time limits were set.  She tipped the glass container’s contents into the remaining empty bottle. With the lid screwed on, she proceeded to shake the cool content, making sure that it was mixing properly.
Sighing in relief that this phase of the test was coming to a close, Aeos unscrewed the cap, and poured the sugar and potassium onto and across the paper-toweled bottle surface of her other bottle.

Her fingers searched for the small alarm button underneath her work surface and pressed which set off a small alarm at the front where the lecturers’ were located and visually hidden.
She left her explosive little device behind, knowing the lecturers’ were aware of the project. It needed to dry-out before she would put it to the test.

***The Blaster Test thingie****

Aeos sat in her chair, her hair that was usually cropped and gravity defying, already growing out and splaying stubbornly over her ears and across her cheeks. She was dressed in her regular uniform again.  At this moment, she was staring at the object on the desk in front of her. It has been over fifteen minute since she was assigned this exam, and she was not prepared for this. She had thought they would be asking something more in line with more explosives. She thought they might perhaps request her to create a grenade mortar or something.

Instead, she was assigned a simple DC-15S pistol with the orders to modify it, which ultimately meant messing around with the gas compounds of this small weapon.
Against the wall right across her, was shelves stacked from one corner to the other with hundreds of different little gas canisters, including, oxygen, bilal, normal blaster gas, coma, carbon dioxide and etc.

The majority of labelled canisters had nothing whatsoever to do with blaster pistols, but was merely placed there to confuse her.  Sighing nervously, her eyes glanced across the labels again.

Slowly her hand reached out and pulled out the notorious tibanna gas. She was surprised that the Empire had gotten hold of this rare type.  This gas produced a greater energy output then any of the other blaster gasses which also meant most blasters wouldn’t be able to handle the modified force. Aeos grinned down at the DC-15. Coincidently enough, the DC pistol series could.

Today, she would not however be making use of the tibanna. She had greater plans. Making sure no one was looking about, Aeos pocketed the small canister. This was a rare item which would either save her life or aid her in her financial business.

Aeos proceeded to pull down to more canisters; sig and obah gas canisters. To ensure that she would not get caught at the small little theft she pulled out various other canisters and started swapping them around, unscrewing them from their alphabetical order.

Satisfied, she leaned back, stretched and yawned before pulling herself back to her DC-15S.  The obah gas affected the nerve systems of targets smaller then a trandoshan or a wookie.  The beauty of this was, if one needed to bring down a target without killing it, this gas would do the trick. The problem however would be, that the majority of targets Aeos met in her life wore protective armor. This is where the gas; sig would come in.  It could pierce the majority of armor with ease.

Mixing the two would however be a risky business, and Aeos would need to check the small space the DC-15S’ gas chamber.  If it was big enough, she would screw one of the canisters into the small little given compartments. The other canisters would need to be squashed, which ultimately meant she’d need to weld away some of the protective layers that protruded to the outside around the gas chamber.

Aeos quickly deactivated the small carbine with a pull of a small wire and set to welding away some of the plastic where she wanted to fit another gas canister.  After that, a small hole equaling the exit size of the canister were drilled at a strategic location that layer that connected the gas-chamber and the XCiter gas conversion enabler.
She propped the sig gas into the small-already-made compartment, deeming it safer. The obah canister were gently squashed and tucked into the small space Aeos welder. The materials she touched, were still soft and warm which meant once dried, that canister would be irremovable.

It took her another fifteen minutes of fine tuning the weapon to affect the trigger which should then release both canisters some gas.

Finally done, Aeos pushed her chair back and waved the lecturer over. He scanned her face, and tried putting it with a name on his datapad. Finding it, he exclaimed a soft ‘aaah’ and picked up a wrapped object from the table with outmost precation.

“Right Sergeant Tadres, follow me outside, we’re going to test this now,” he muttered as he crossed to her table.
Nodding, Aeos were obliged to follow him. Once they were outside, in a small target practice area, he handed her the explosive she created earlier.
“This thing explodes on impact as soon as the glass shatters, and the contents comes in contact with the dried crystals within these paper-towels,” she explained while unwrapping it.

Not bothering the lecturer to inquire anything more, Aeos rocketed the device into the air. It made a beautiful curve before bee-lining for the ground. A small yet lethal fire exploded as soon as it crashed, and they heard the glass shatter upon contact.

“Ah, well done, and the blaster?”

He signaled to one of the by-standing assistant lecturer’s to release something for Aeos to aim at.
Out hopped a lime green chocobo. A rough stitched up wound ran up across his chest revealing details about a crash as he and his master were delivering goods. The chocobo needed to be decommissioned from its Imperial Life.
“Sir, I inserted both a sig and obah gas canister, I’ll need something covered in armour to prove my point-“

“That’s not needed, we don’t care about the combination you chose, the bottomline is that carbine should work the moment you pull the trigger,” he interrupted.

Aeos nodded and refocused her glance on the chocobo.
She aimed, and targeted, praying to her native god, Aeos pulled the trigger.

No explosion or raining debris of mangled Aeos followed. The chocobo fell to the ground while the girl dropped her carbine in slight surprise at the force that quivered in her hands so violently moments ago.
“You are border-lining instability with the modification, that’s why it rocked in your hands, yet you pass on both your exams, congratulations.”

OOC:
My first spec story grading, you should feel privileged! Passed, I'm quite impressed with the amount of detail in the post, and you fooled me even if you had no idea what you were writing about. Just one thing. Far too many of your sentences start with 'She,' sometimes three to four in a row in certain paragraphs. It has a tendency to get awfully repetitive so be sure to mix it up in the future when describing Aeos's actions. Looking forward to the next one.

Course: Target Analysis
Course Type: Lecture/Exam

When Aeos had finished her Improved Munitions course, she finally concluded the worst part was over, for now. She had one final qualification lesson to survive before starting with her final exams.
Today would be the practical run for her course.  The lecture was a few days ago, through which Aeos, as usually doodled or slept much to the agitations of her both her classmates and the lecturer.

”Tactical analysis is about prioritizing your targets, which target’s death would be most beneficial? Cut the heads of a small organization and you have successfully created chaos. Removing the elements of control and the rank is broken…”
And so it continued for hours and hours on end in the lecture which Aeos could already start guessing halfway through. Actual field-experience more or less forced her to learn this a long time ago.
Currently, she was suiting up for her next practical run, which mean a simple uniform sufficed seeing as how she would spend her practical run another dreaded simulator. Rumor had it however that the actual qualification exams were real missions.

Sighing, she sat on the edge of her bed in the small villa she bought a few weeks ago. Ever since she had to step up into Riqimo’s position with his sudden and unfortunate departure, she had to suddenly live as the walking example of how a superior were supposed to conduct itself. This meant, her boots needed a polish. Of course, classes have been awkward as well. When the class started out together, Aeos was at the rock bottom of ranks and positions. And while they remained more or less in their status, she kept pushing up.

Shrugging her thoughts clean, Aeos hastily pulled the rest of attire on. She was going to be late.  Whipping out the stubborn strand of gold hair that escaped her merciless hair-combing process earlier, Aeos brusquely slammed her front door on the way out. The sound was sweet and caring and so different from the usual sliding doors she had grown accustomed to.

*1 hour later*

“Ready Sergeant?”

Aeos refrained from chewing her lips as she gave an affirmative yet hesitant nod towards the terminal operator of this simulator.  She ignored the familiar currents of whizzing mechanics while the room began spinning and melting into a new dimension. She saw none of this however being suspended in a forced blink.

It was a while later, and Aeos found herself in the middle of nowhere enjoying an afternoon nap on the grass while baking in the sun’s full glare.

She sprung to her feet, whipped a few cursory glances around her before pulling out a small device from the backpack that had materialized with her in this digital dimension.

She had opted at the beginning to proceed with the exam going solo without a team. As veteran soldier, she already knew how the scenario would play out, and having two attached greenies would only limit the speed and swiftness with which this could be done.
On the GPS azure hued screen she could see a target blinking. A small outpost a few hundred meters south of her current location.
Aeos ignored the simulated breeze that tracked through her hair, grabbed the sniper rifle from its propped up position on the grass, slung it over her shoulder and started to proceed for a trek through the savanna.

It was about twenty minutes later, and Aeos was spying through a pair of micro-binoculars at her supposed enemies.
Through the high fences of barbed wire, Aeos picked off a variety of targets. Inside the vicinity of the enemy territory there stood three At-ATs.  Two of them in various stages of repair.
Aeos glanced down at her GPS Unit, taking note of the small letting that depicted her briefing. It was fairly easy, she need to halt the repairs of the AT-ATs which mean disposing not of the sentry guards or the radio technician but the Heavy Weapon Specialists. There were in total about five of the specialists and that could be identified by the murky green of the overalls they’re wearing.

“Rightio,” she muttered gazing through the lenses again. Two of these specialists were having a lunch break, while two other busies themselves at the one AT-AT, probably discussing some kind of repair process while the last one was out of sight for the moment.

All well,  he was bound to show-up in a few minutes. Aeos hauled the Sniper rifle to her shoulder, adjusted the settings as it was affected by the distance between the barrel end and the target’s hair.

Grinning as the smell of the freshly cleaned weapon wafted up into her nose, Aeos set her eye to the scope and started to pick for her first target. She was a risky fifty meters away, not far yet not too close either.

Five shots.
Bang!
The poor simulated collection of pixels and mathematical formulas slumped over into his lunch. His partner only had the chance to look up alarmed from his morning coffee-
Bang!
By now she had attracted the attention of the other occupants of the outpost. Number three just stood up next to the open wire box of the one AT-AT, he looked around bewildered trying to sense her location but-
Bang!
Number four had the sense now to make attempt for cover,
Bang!
Aeos scoffed as bullet grazed past the target into the stone wall behind him. She made a quick job of aiming again and bang!

Only number five was left. By now, all the guards were on full alert; some jostled from their nap rudely. She heard the far-off sound of barking and winced. She was not interested in being shredded.

“Come on you little tick,” she whispered, her eye trained through the scope which kept wary of the windows and exits she could see.  Ah! She could see a green cap, sticking through the window. Hopefully-
Bang!
Yes! Aeos smirked and quietly dislodged the sniper rifle from her stiff fingers.

That will put a halt to the AT-AT repairs most definitely.
She glanced down at her GPS device, and bought it up to her mouth.

“Mission completed. Terminate Simulator.”

“Are you sure Ma’am?”

“Yes,” she answered confidently, she would know the results of her simulation in a bit. With content sigh Aeos closed her eyes, anticipating the temporary moment of dematerialization her thought always experienced in these damned rooms. She would know her results in a bit.

OOC:
Sentence structure is a lot better in this post. I always figured that 'Target Analysis' meant deciding which aspects of an enemy camp should be targeted first so as to improve the odds of the overall mission being successful. There's no real analysis of targets in this post as you have them provided for you. I'll pass you on the basis that you give the course name greater thought next time around. Apart from that, a good read

Story 1: Sabotage Operations

She slammed the alarm into a collection of scrap metal to the floor and rolled over. She heard a low rumbling moan of protest from her side and Aeos froze.
What the fu-
“We have to get up already?” a male voice asked.
Suddenly she became very much aware of her own state of undress and Aeos fell back into her pillow groaning.

***

What was his name? She didn’t know. She had left the apartment as soon as she had collected herself and clothes. She really should have declined drinking with Snipes last night. That way she might have woken up in her own bed and in her own apartment. Currently she was storming down the Academy Halls to attend one of her last exams which were Sabotage Operations.

“Sorry I’m late!” she cried out as slammed the door of the Simulation Chamber open. Her Instructor sighed and scratched his thin goatee in irritation.

“You will need to manage yourself and your time befitting that of an Officer, Lieutenant”  he grunted and gestured for her to take a seat in one of the oval shaped baskets.

She laid down in it and brought the fine wiry silvers clasps down over her head.

“I and the rest of the Moderators will observe from the screens. Good luck Aeos. “
His friendly brown eyes met her own azul eyes. He had known her since she was a Private. No. He didn’t give her class or lectures. He was the man who kept record and statistics about her progress. He was the man she came to see when she had felt unsure about how to proceed with this or that regarding her specialty.

Aeos nodded and smiled at him in response before closing her eyes. She just wanted these tests over and done with.

===
BOOM!

A hand grabbed her shoulders roughly and pulled her backward.

“Could have been killed girl!” A voice shouted into her ears.

Aeos opened her eyes and for a moment froze as she took in the sight around her. Everywhere she looked was death and blood. Stormtroopers hung limply out of their ditches or across the debris of vehicles. She turned around to face the mask of the man who pulled her back from a frag a few meters away. He executed a crisp salute.  She tried to scan for the enemy but the combination of smoke and smug obscured her vision too much despite the enhanced sensors built into her helmet.
“What is the situation here?” she inquired sharply while she continued to scan the area.

“Enemy is overwhelming us with sheer numbers of machinery. They are radio-operating the AT-ATS, and we simply don’t have the fire-power to get rid of the numbers they have.”
“How many AT-ATs are out there?”

“Last time we checked about thirty to forty.”

She suppressed the urge to release a low whistle.

“What is the mission objective?”

The soldier jerked with his thumb to the back. From beneath the piles of bodies, rubble and debris she managed to discern the vague shape of a bunker poking out.

“Hold the fort till reinforcements arrive.”
Again she suppressed the urge to whistle. The men had a rough mission so far. She knew this was a simulation, but she still could not help but the feel the familiar urge of stress swelling from inside her stomach or the prickly feelings of needles on her back as that small whisper of fear fleeted across her thoughts. This was after all the objective of the simulation. To induce fear to the participant.

“Well alright, let’s gather with the rest of the guys and look over this again. Where is the Commander of your division?”” she asked. The ground boomed again and Aeos lost her balance momentarily. The enemy was getting closer. Damn. She had too little time.

“Dead.” The trooper answered back. He turned around and motioned for her to follow her. And she followed.

There were a handful of specialists surrounding her small frame as they all hunched over a piece of paper which had been creased too much. Aeos pointed one index finger towards the large circled x on the map.

“That would be the most logical location for our controller to be at. Well for the beacon. You see how subtle the rock formations are there at left? Let’s take this from the beginning again. Hacking is a no-go. The programming is a new generation code. That’s normal. Jamming the signal is a no-go. Since they have placed two beacons as our tech team found out. If we knock out one of the beacons, jamming the other beacon would be no trouble. We just need to find one of them.”

“Yes Ma’am.”  Various voices chorused around her.

Aeos glanced at the map again. At the spot where she suspected one of the beacons could be kept. It was a good two kilometers away however but the placing on the map. The placing of the rock formations and grasslands had made it seem so impossible that she simply had to believe that they would place it there.
“I need two troopers with me. The rest of you will need to hold out. Think you can do another twenty minutes?”
There was a deathly silence as the men around her contemplated the window.

“If push comes to shove, we can.” Don spoke to her.

The trooper who had found her at the beginning of her objective. He obviously held the highest rank and as such assumed command since both the commanders had fallen a few hours ago.
“Good, hopefully we can do it in less time. I need to two troopers to go with me. Any volunteers?” she asked glancing at the helmets around her.

Don coughed and motioned two troopers who had been waiting from outside the little circle to join them.

“Red and Doug. They are both fine guys.” Don said while clamping one hand down on Red.

The masked trooper nodded and flashed the peace-sign at Aeos who arched an eyebrow. Well. The simulation had to entertain itself some time she supposed. But seriously. The peace sign? She motioned for everyone to scatter and get into position while she started strapping on a small backpack. She gestured for the troopers to follow her.

“Don, I’ll let you know when the beacon is down. You will need to jam immediately. “She muttered.

Don nodded and motioned for her to start her sprint. Aeos sighed and gripped the map in her eyes tightly. She threw a wave at him and stormed away into an eastern direction.

It was exactly fifteen minutes later that Aeos and her small team found themselves one hundred meters away from the target.  The run had been a nightmare Aeos. They each carried a small tagger on their backpacks which sent small bursts of frequencies out to the enemy surrounding AT-ATs to confuse their radars. It was a small jam and it only worked for a few seconds in which Aeos had to sprint for her life through the burnt grasses and shallow blaster-created graves.

She eyed the formation up front and looked down at the map. Yeah. This was the one. She took a deep breath and steadied her small gasps of breath conditioned from the long stretch of sprinting. She held one hand out to the troopers behind and motioned at them to keep still.

“I’m going to go and set the frags. If I fail, you are plan-B. Get your own frags ready.” She ordered in soft but furious whispers. They nodded at her and saluted. She saluted back at them and started leopard-crawling the last hundred meters. She could only pray that the frequencies pulsing from the tagger on her back was still working and scrambling the AT-AT which was about thirty meters away. She scrambled across the small piece of open lands and hurled herself behind the thorn bush.

She risked another few meters of crawling to the next bush, ignoring the sharp needle-like pricks of the thorns on her palm. Those were the least of her problems right now.

She sneaked a peek behind the bush to gauge the last stretch. Shit. Still fifty meters.  She scrambled away again and only just got away in time as a laser bolt blasted at her previous position. She sprinted the distance about halfway and fell flat to the ground and started leopard-crawling in a zig-zag-motion from one bush to the other hoping that the AT-AT behind her was more or less confused.

She dived towards the small crescent crater that formed into the rocks and heaved a deep breath.
Okay Aeos, search for it! Her mind yelled at itself.

She was aware of the thumping sounds that vibrated through the ground as the At-AT locked onto her signal through its radar. Damn it. The beacon de-activated her own tagger! It still needed to circle around the small and rocky formation to get a clear shot at her however. She started digging with her fingers through the rubble and dry earth for the beacon which she wasn’t even sure was there or how it looked.  Panic surged through her nerves like wild-fire and she started digging with an even bigger intensity than before.

At last her fingers found some hard and squarish and foreign. She cleared the sands away and stared at the small black plate with its blinking lights and the small bulge that protruded from the plate. What a strange design she thought to herself. She didn’t have the time to unscrew the plate to take it apart. It was a lengthy process which guaranteed a bigger success but right now she didn’t have the time.

Army Protocol required that when a trooper was dismantling a device in the battle or retrieving said object that he or she was required to return to Tadath with said device for possible further studies and counter-measures. That was, if he or she was not being risked in the process. Right now she was facing a risk. Aeos jammed the frag down and activated it before bolting away.

She threw herself down as the explosion vibrated through the air and ground.

“Try to jam now Don.” She muttered into her ComLink. An affirmative was grunted at her. Seconds later she was hearing a reply.

“It worked! We can now jam the controlling signals just enough to delay the response to their motor systems!”

Aeos froze. She didn’t hear the rest of Don’s explanation. She heard the unmistakable sounds of metal legs creaking to a still stand position behind her.

Her world flashed a sudden and bright light and Aeos was staring at the face of her instructor. The man had grabbed her arms in order to calm her. Such was the case with many participants of a simulation. It was the simulating director or instructor’s duty to pull participants out of the simulator before they met their death.

Aeos tried to calm her breathing and glanced again at her instructor.
“Do I pass?” she asked with a hopeful expression.

The man grunted.

“They are still doing calculations based on your performance. You might cut it close with dying and stuff though, we’ll see. “He answered.

One thing I may caution...I don't think "fuck" is in the Star Wars lingo (correct me if I am wrong) so you might want to choose a better swear. At any rate, solid job!

Story 2: Architecture and Structural Engineering

“What do we have today Sarge?” Aeos asked as she entered his small and cramped office. She brushed a stray bang out of her face and plopped herself down onto swivel chair and faced her instructor and mentor. His friendly brown and aged eyes twinkled at her merrily and he stooped down to one of the drawers to collect her file. Rowler suppressed a yawn as he tossed the file at her.

“You’re next qualification exam. Report to the room B-7T4. I believe you’ve been planning on specializing. So…what are you thinking Ae?”

She opened the file through it and flipped through it.”
“No specializing just yet Rowler. Gonna try and focus on getting this thing for first.” She answered with a small grin.

***
She was home. Well. It wasn’t the barracks or anything but one of the flats she kept around and close to the STC Academy. That way she wouldn’t waste three hours of her day traveling.
Aeos sat back on her chair and propped her legs up on her desk. She was back at her semi-desolate apartment going through a mental checklist and preparation of for tomorrow’s test.

Architecture was simple enough. The design and building of physical structures. Structural Engineering went beyond architecture. It was a study of the design and math that went into the structure versus the math surrounding the structure or the non-building structure such as bridges and irrigation systems and etc.  It was her job to ensure all safety aspects of the structure. That the correct materials had been used. That they had been used in the correct amount relating to the mass and energy required from the structure.  To calculate whether location such as the geography could be used as an enhancement towards the structure or would serve as only hazard. If it was indeed the latter, then she had to apply the correct methods to the surrounding geography to fit it for such structure.

Structural engineering entailed understanding the mathematical analyses of loading to which the structure was subjected to. Whether it was live or dynamic loading, she would have adjusted the formulas and design as to such. Loads were the forces applying to a structure whether it is wind, snow, rain and etc. If the study of the geology and geographic was not concluded properly and the wrong science was applied to the structure based on those studies, loads could stress and deform displacements into the structure.
She stretched and yawned back into her seat. She pulled her face through her hands and snuck a glance at the clock above her bed.

“Time for bed I guess.” She muttered to herself and started making her way to the refreshed to get cleaned up for the night.  Tomorrow was the start of her qualification exams which could last several hours or several days depending on her own performance and the nature of the exams itself.

***

She tugged at her stiff collar nervously and glanced down the brightly-lit hall waiting for her exam to be started with. Today would be a written exam. Her instructor was right now just preparing the room in which she would be writing several off her essays.

“1st Lieutenant Aeos?”  A soft female voice called out.

She glanced at the female First Sergeant holding a small data-pad waiting for at the one end of the hall. The female gestured Aeos to follow her into the class room.

“Rowler will be right back.” She muttered and gestured for Aeos to take a seat at the lone desk inside the room.

She silently left the room and Aeos alone with her thoughts.  The Lieutenant sat waiting for a few minutes alone trying to compose herself and her nervous into something calmer and more prepared for the test ahead.

“Ready Aeos?” Rowler asked as he stepped into the room. He dropped a small stack of papers onto her desk.
“Written Exam dearie. You have seven hours with breaks included.”

Aeos groaned and pulled the papers across and started reading through them.

65. Discuss the various structural elements in existence and name at least five structures which exist on the STC grounds in which all elements are used. Please provide and a detailed description on the structures and whether you think the elements were used decoratively or practically.

Aeos groaned softly as she jotted down a quick note in the margin next to the question.
Columns, beams, plates, arches, shells, catenaries…etc. Mannford Drill Hall. Salamse block and…

She continued scribbling another few names and the traits down and moved on the next question.
This was an old trick of her. She would read her whole paper over before starting to fill it out and as she read over it she would make small mental notes at each question and jot some of the notes down as well in the process.

She continued scribbling through the rest of the questions. Dead loads. Live loads. Environmental loads. Thermal expansions, ice movements. Aeos suppressed the urge to yawn and leaned back over her work.  She stole a quick glance at her watch. She had about six hours left. Better make the most of it.

It was a few hours later that she walked with bleary eyes and equally bleary mind filled with the blue-print sketches of beams, columns and floors plans. She tried to shake the cobwebs of pencil sketches from her mind and decided to head for the cantina for a drink. She wouldn’t know the results of any off her qualification exams until she completed them all. Luckily Rowler had decided that he would set her only a written exam. Aeos yawned again and increased her pace to reach the cantina. Maybe Snipes would be there.

This was seriously not the easiest topic to write about.

Rizzit wrote:Well, this definitely was not the easiest story to write I will give you that. If its of any comfort, it wasn't easy to read either. However, more or less this is what we are asking for: a hard to read entry that is extremely detailed. Undoubtedly, you did that. Good work!

Story 3: Demolitions & Explosives Science

Thump…thump…thump…thump…thump
“Damnit Aeos! I’m trying to concentrate!” a voice muttered at her.
Aeos frowned at her Squad-Leader’s face which had bent back to the paperwork on her desk.

“Maybe if you could push my little problem higher-up on the budget, then you wouldn’t be bothered right now.” She shot at Havock.

The woman sighed and glanced up from her desk to Aeos before her eyes traveled from Aeos’ face to the twitching tail that hovered behind Aeos. It swished and plopped like a clock from the left to the right and back thumping softly against the chair on which Aeos sat.  She scowled at the damned appendage and glared back at Havock’s smirking face.

A few weeks ago Aeos managed to survive a lab explosion and the process got covered in the fluids held at the labs which results in a furry tail which needed to be removed genetically as it had the potential to regrow if removed by basic surgery.

“Listen, Ae as much as I’d love to hear about your grievances with that thing, I do have to study for exams as well. Something you are having tomorrow if I’m not mistaken. Rigtht?”

Aeos scowled again at Havock and turned her face away.
“Sheh, Finished my last essays last week and my notes earlier this morning.”

Now it was Havock glaring at Aeos from across her desk.

“Aeos. I don’t give a shit. Get the hell out of my office!”

***

thump…thump…thump…thump…thump

She scrambled for half a second trying to catch the end-piece of her tail and held it clutched in her hand while reddening in the face at the other surrounding face stared at her. The tail meanwhile continued to twitching in her hand. Giving up she let go of it.
thump…thump…thump…thump…thump

Today was her last exam. Explosives and demolitions.
thump…thump…thump

She wasn’t quite sure what to expect and what had worsened the situation was that she wasn’t in the least familiar with any of the moderators or captains in charge of her exam.

thump…thump…thump

Subconsciously her mind kept whirling through a checklist of possible scenarios but she was still clueless as to what exactly they would throw at her.

thump…thump…thump
“Ma’am?”

thump…thump…thump

“Lieutenant Aeos?”
thump…thump…thump

A loud smacking noise dropped into her head and dragged her out of her thoughts. The female sergeant snapped to a crisp salute casually ignoring the thick book on the floor next to her feet. Aeos arched her eyebrows amused.

“At ease Sergeant.”

“Sergeant Brody reporting. I am to escort you to the site of your final exams. Our superiors will be waiting there. “

The younger sergeant shuffled her feet slightly as she eased into a more relaxed stance resulting Aeos sighing at the poor girl’s inexperience and traditional stiffness in uniform.

“Then lets go.”

***

“In the seven hells of sithspit, are you crazy, Sir?”
Shuttles zoomed noiselessly past them with the occasional spluttering and thundering engine of an outdated hovercar. Aeos scoffed at Captain in front her who only stared down at her sternly.

Captain Smorik frowned down at Aeos, while one hand lazily played with the lapel on his uniform. He had been dragged from his one day off to oversee her exam as Imperial Law required a superior officer to oversee her final exam. Aeos outranked almost all of her lecturers.

“By all means Lieutenant, if you think you’re not up to scratch. We can cancel this exam.”

Aeos bit back her tongue and trying to control her facial expressions. They were located in one the bustling up and coming downtown areas of Sianat, capital city of Tadath.  Aeos stared up at the building towering above her. Her exam platform.

“So, let me run through this again. This building needs to be brought down in an uncontrolled environment?”

“That’s more or less the gist. Just check your data briefings for a detailed break-up.”

The Captain grinned at her stiffly.
“And the environment is controlled, but if you don’t do your exam properly there might be damage we didn’t calculate. But we assume you are ready for this and that you will complete your exam properly.”

She grit teeth and nodded.

“Yes, Sir.” She muttered meeting his steel-blue eyes.

“Good. We’ll be expecting your report on my desk at twenty-hundred hours. Dismissed.”

Aeos forced herself into the quick motion of a well executed salute and allowed the Captain to walk off before stalking away herself to contemplate the exams. She ignored the thumping tail behind her and dropped herself onto the stool the small construction make-shift cubicle provided on the grounds of the doomed building.

Shaking her head at Smorik’s retreating back through the wide-doorway Aeos dragged the datapd on the table over to be studied by her able eyes.

It was a three-story building quite ancient in its design structure. Slabs of durasteel held together with traditional beam-design laminasteel pillars that shot through vertically and horizontally through the slabs.  She tapped one nail against the wood of the table and thought the process over. She would need at least one-hundred kilograms of accelerite allocated into packages of point one-hundred kilos along with fifty kilos of magnopium allocated in small packages of point one-hundred grams. These were to be placed together in pairs along the sections were said laminasteel beams met. Radio-controleld igniters would be paired with along. Building was to be given an inside coating of flammable flash fluids which would ignite for a few seconds into a red-hot fire that would weaken the durasteel structure around hopefully causing a collapse. She just needed to make the needed calculation to insure the implosion of the building rather than the explosion.

It took her at least six hours into setting up the perimeters and securing the needed materials but at last she was ready. At this stage of her qualification she didn’t need to do much grunt work and had sent some sergeants into to place the packages of explosives alongside the calculated coordinates inside the buildings before giving the insides a spray of the fluids. She did a quick tour through as they were securing just keeping in check that her orders were carried out.  Her tail swirled lazily as she walked along sending death glares at any face that betrayed any hint of amusement at her feline predicament.

In another hour, she along with her supervisor stood on the edge of the clearance she had secured around the building. A radius of one-fifty meters.

“So, you think we’ll survive here Lieutenant? “ Smorik asked dryly.
Aeos sighed and pulled heaved her shoulders.

“Lets see, shall we?” she muttered as her thumb pressured the small button on the sleek oval formed device on her hands.

A low rumbling trembled through the ground followed by the shattering of glasses as fire spewed out from the building. Seconds later it was followed by the violent yet contained of explosions of the materials she had allocated. In slow-motion the building toppled in on itself bringing a grin of satisfaction to her face.
Rizzit wrote:A grin of satisfaction? Really? You just blew up a building and you have a grin of satisfaction? Honestly, you should: I was starting to wonder if you actually did some demolition work in real life it was very well done. At any rate, I believe congratulations are in order: this completes your specialty!
