The pale trooper hit his landing smoothly, and on his own two feet too. Glancing around as he stood up straight again, he sighed. “What a typically dull training course,” he muttered under his breath. Talstorin checked his things to make nothing had fell during his landing and once he was satisfied, he began to walk.
“Get back to the training camp? That’s it?” Looking around, it seemed that the other troopers had already went off, so with a shrug, Talstorin did the same. It wasn’t like things were going to be particularly dangerous anyways, he had done several missions that were much more dangerous compared to this one.
The landing spot, contrary to the environment around it was a flat plain, just outside of the forest. The spot itself was incredibly small and by the looks of it, recently cleared. Assuming his sense of direction was right, he had entered the jungle in the right direction. The atmosphere was a bit humid within the jungle, which made Talstorin slightly uncomfortable though not disadvantaged in any way.
The instructions were extremely vague, being less than three sentences so things were a bit more difficult. Talstorin himself was not exactly sure of what was asked of him though he figured things would make more sense after a few minutes of walking.
Preparation wise, Talstorin had expected things to be a little stricter. They had been given water, for one thing, and even weapons. He kept his electrostaff on him, leaving his sword at home, still a bit unsure on whether to use the blade at all, and a pistol. That was all he really needed and in fact, had done most of his work with less equipment than that.
Minutes later of walking through the trees, the trooper found the place extremely uneventful and lonely. He had hoped for an array of traps or at least some enemies to make things more interesting. Instead, he found himself walking through a humid, quiet place that seemed to never end. Suddenly, a branch snapped behind him, sending a rush of adrenaline through Talstorin’s system.
Immediately straightening up, he scanned the area but found nothing. His hand was on his pistol, tense and ready.
