Good idea Cosmic.
Might be a little difficult to fully automate something like that to start out with, but anything is possible.
Initially, I would propose a semi-automatic way to send those types of emails. Basically, there could be a list of members that would display on the screen that have been inactive for 2 weeks or so. Then, the squad/platoon/etc commander could go into the admin area and see who was eligible for one of these emails.
By eligible, it would basically mean that anyone who hasn't logged in for more than 2 weeks or hasn't received an awol email in 1 week. Each email that is sent to the awol member would basically be different depending on how many they have gotten.
All the admin would have to do is click a button to send awol emails to the members they select (all/some).
Emails could go something like this:
- You are awol, please report
- Awol alert 2, please report
- Awol alert 3, pending demotion
- Awol alert 4, demoted
- Injured in battle, please report to sick bay
- Injury cured, still awol, report immediately
- Mortally wounded in another battle, currently in hospital
- Awol alert, please report or your character may be killed
- Wounds turn severe, report so you can keep your character alive
- Last chance
- Character dead...please rejoin if you would like to play again
Those are just an example, but they could be fairly similar.
Now, for long standing members, when it starts getting to the injury or death parts, we could probably either just retire them or put them in reserves. Since they served so long, it's the least we can do to keep their memory alive.
For new members that just join, I can see that working pretty well. Since they'll either have to report in, quit, or keep getting emails until they tell us not to send them anymore.
Anyways, those are just my thoughts for how something like that could be implemented fairly easily.
