OOC:
Guys don't post until Fury does. He's got stuff he is going to add in.

After Sam had received word of the transfer, he had mixed thoughts on the matter. He had been with the Dragoons for nearly his entire career in the army. He gathered his gear and files and headed out of the Dragoons’ barracks. On his way out he saw Yillis heading his way.

“Good luck mate,” Sam said to Yillis as he passed him. Yillis gave out a chuckle and wished him the best as Paladin’s new squad leader.

It was a somewhat short hike to the Paladin barracks. He entered and did not see anyone present. He stashed his things and headed to his platoon commanders office.

This was an oddly nostalgic feeling he had as he entered the office. Kairo’s familiar face was sitting busy at work behind the desk. Sam paused for a second before he headed further into the room.

Kairo looked up, “Ah Sam, it has been a while since we’ve done business together, but we don’t have much time to catch up. Here are the orders for Paladin’s next mission.”

“Thank you sir,” Sam said. His mind was running all over the place with a mission and not even knowing what the troopers of Paladin were like. He flipped out his datapad and sent out a message to the Paladin squad to meet him in the barracks for briefing and to prepare for a quick departure.

On his way back to the Paladin barracks, he took a seat on a bench to catch his thoughts and read over the mission objectives. The objectives did not seem too difficult but something led him to believe that was just the ice breaker of the mission. He got up and headed to the barracks.

The entire squad was in the barracks awaiting him. “Sorry, have yet to get used to coming to this barracks yet and went to my old barracks,” Sam said with a chuckle, but not getting much of a response from the squad. “Anyhow, I was just given a briefing for our first mission together. We are to head to the planet Giju to meet Kuin a troubleshooter for Fury. That’s all I was given. Let’s get our gear together and get going.”

The squad disbanded to gather their gear. Sam did not have to work hard to get his stuff ready with all still being packed up from his move. He slung his blaster holsters about his waist and left the rest of his armor and weapons in one bag.

*  *  *

Within the hour Paladin was on a ship to Giju. Sam still had yet to really meet any of the troopers, but that was by far the least of his worries. This was one of the first times that he had such simple mission objectives. Every other time there had been a list of things that had to be done. The possibilities of what could come up began to flow in and out of his thoughts during the transit to their mission planet.

*  *  *

Before anyone realized they had left, they arrived on Giju. Sam had no idea what to expect of the planet but was certain that it could not possibly be any worse than some of the other planets he had been on. Once all the Paladins were off the ship and had their gear in hand Sam turned to them.

“Here we are, Giju. I’ve sent the location of the cantina we are to rendezvous with Kuin. Let’s leave our gear on the ship, with the exception of the essentials. Just to keep a somewhat lower profile until we learn exactly what it is we are going to be doing,” Sam said with a strong look on his face. The squad loaded the non-essential things back onto the ship and made their way to the cantina.

It took only fifteen minutes for the squad to find their way to the cantina. They entered separately in few minute periods and met up at a table off to the side. Nobody knew what Kuin looked like so standing about was pointless.

“I guess I’m going to go ask the barkeep about Kuin,” Sam stated, “I just don’t feel that sitting about waiting is what should be going on.”

One of the senior members nodded as Sam headed to the bar. “Excuse me mate, but I’m looking for someone by the name of Kuin. Do you happen to know where I might find him if you know him?”

The barkeep let out a chuckle, “You are standing right next to him.”

Sam turned to the person to his right and was greeted, “You must be the guys Fury sent.”

Kuin finished his drink and turned over his empty glass with a flourish and plopped it down on the paper napkin it came on. Carefully he pushed toward the bartender, who promptly collected it with a small grin. Under the napkin were two thousand credit chips, untraceable. One Imperial, one Republic.

"Anything else I can do for you?" he smirked.

"Yeah," Kuin said. "Tray of glasses and a nice bottle of smoke whiskey if you've got it. We're taking our party back at a table."

"Gonna cost you."

"Figured so. Stuff keeps getting more rare every year. Probably 'cuz I'm drinking it up. All the same, if you've got it, send it over. Otherwise, something nice, smooth, and Corellian."

Kuin collected his new friends and headed towards a back table he saw when he came in that would do well. Obviously, he wasn't fitting in with the rest of his party.  It was hard to even get ARCs to blend into a crowd, much less stormtroopers. In a lot of ways, it was harder to make them look like civilians than just everyday dumb regulars. They tried, it just ended up looking like they were trying.

Good thing was that, after decades of war, nearly half of everybody had seen some taste of war.  Even so, for as much as he had his fair share of fighting, Kuin was closer to something like a bodyguard or bounty hunter than a soldier, and his clothes and mannerisms showed it.

Hopefully the locals wouldn't catch on too much. Or, if they did, hopefully no one was keeping tabs. Giju was weird like that. Neutral ground, but crawling with spies and informants.

THe party made it to the table and made small talk until the smoke whiskey came. He explained the making of it, how - for some reason - a few planets had just the right mix of solar reflection and gravitational pull to allow for a proper distillation in an orbital space station. This whiskey was pure, clear, and just the best damn tasting thing Kuin had ever drank. Just one more thing he'd learned from the boss.

Apparently, the squad agreed.

Unfortunately, it was time to get down to business.

"Alright, without giving you info you shouldn't know in the event this screws up and gets captured, the high points. You are going to get a crash course in salvage recovery over the next couple days. Your contact in Tarj Vic'tiir over at Consolidated Salvage near the starport. Tarj is getting well paid and is sticking his neck out for us since we're Imperials, so don't get too gushy about him but know he probably gets killed if you get found out.

"Basically, it goes like this. We know the New Republic has a shipyard, we even know the name of the planet, just not where it is. You guys are going in as a new team hired by Consolidated to help them out. You'll be on their payroll under assumed names. I have your personnel jackets with me so learn them as you learn the new jobs.

"You won't have it too hard. Instead of stripping out destroyed ships, you'll be packing up the tailings of a new MC-90 class Star Defender. The Mon Cals make them but also have Sluis Van and this shipyard building them. So, lots of wire sorting, some deckplates, taking down some scaffolding I imagine. Some of it is EVA so I hope you remember your spacetrooper training week because it is going to be important here.

"Besides looking like you are doing a good job and not getting discovered, you have to do two things. One, if we can't get the shipyard's location from our sources, or from the squads hunting down people who know it, you guys will have to brute force the way in later.  So we have to know where this planet is.

"You have two chances here. When you get to the first outpost for entry in that region of space, you'll be forced to go through a space station. Find a way to mount a beacon to the outside of the station, or at least near the hull, and set a delay to the broadcast signal.

"Next, dump a beacon with a delay out when you dump your trash when you get to the first security point. It is standard procedure anyway so you should not get noticed.

"Your last step is to plant a beacon on the shipyard hull somehow. Also, we need to mount a passive triangulation beacon to the MC-90 as a targeting beacon when the first strike comes in.

"If you have the time and means, the boss would really, really like you to get an idea of the breakdown of security of the shipyard. What are the defenses and where are they? Golans? Gun turrets? Coordinates?  If not that, then at least how many ships are in the yard. How many starfighter and bomber squadrons are there? Names of the units, what are they flying, etc.

"In short, do your jobs, keep track of what you can, and lay down some passive sensors. We should be able to triangulate the course if all three sensors stay intact. Above all else though, stay undetected. But you already knew that. I promise you'll get a chance to kill someone soon."

With that, he pulled out a folio with the squad's IDs and life stories, and gave laid them in the center of the table. "Enjoy the rest of the whiskey and find a place to hole up for the night. Good luck. I'll be in touch."

OOC:
We do have some idea of how the shipyard is laid out, but if the moment strikes you to embellish a bit, go for it.

Alan went with the squad to the table and took a seat up against a wall.  He took a sip from his glass of whiskey and felt it warm his insides immediately.  He leaned his chair back so that it rested against the wall and looked around the bar making sure that no-one was watching them.  He didn't trust anyone except for his squad mates.  Maybe that was why he was still alive.

He listened as they were being briefed about the mission specifics.  Oh joy he thought as he heard about them going to be disguised as workers and that there would be some EVA work associated with it.  He thought fondly back to the days when they were deployed to simply kill the enemy and not do all this skulking around.  His mood picked up when he heard that they would get to kill someone.  His hand twitched beside his concealed blaster and he smiled at the prospect.

Kuin passed Alan his new ID and documents.  Alan flicked through them and noted that his new name was Jevon Blackstar.  Jevon Blackstar thought Alan who the hell comes up with these names anyway.  He wondered what names the rest of his squad mates had been given.

"Enjoy the rest of the whiskey" said Kuin as he got up and left.

Alan finished off his glass and poured himself another.  Don't worry, I will he thought as he took a sip from his second glass.  He didn't want to wake up tomorrow with a sore head but neither did he want to go to sleep with having only had had one drink.  He wondered just how the mission would go and how their new Squad Leader would be.  He had never worked with Sam before but he was looking forward to the opportunity.  He hoped that Yillis would enjoy himself with the Dark Dragoons.

Taking another sip he suddenly thought to himself where the hell are we sleeping tonight?

Lucky went to sit at the table at the back of the bar. There was a bottle at the center of the table. The bottle read Smoke Whiskey. She had never had any,  The name, she hadn't heard of either.

As Kuin explained how this type of whiskey was made she thought Never heard of it because it's too rare Where she was sitting, she had a clear view of her surroundings. She was positioned between the wall and the front of the bar, so she had a view of the whole place.

She took the glass Kuin offered her and took a sip. The liquid burned down her throat, but that was okay . She had drunk stronger stuff before.

As the small talk ended and they finally started to talk business she couldn't help but think This'll be a very interesting mission indeed. As the briefing continued she realised that this would give her an opportunity to know Sam better. That is, find out how he worked . She hoped he would like the squad.

She pushed her worries out of her mind and concentrated on what Kuin was telling them. Those things would be hard to do , but she was up to the challenge.

When he was done talking, Kuin passed out the folios with their IDs and information. She wasn't sure of what she would find, so she wearily looked at the name on th ID card. Jorden Gonzales What kind of name was that? She looked the same in the picture as she did now except that her skin was slightly golden. Phew! She didn't have to alter her appearance much. All she had to buy was a bottle of cream that would make her skin look the same as in the picture.

She didn't mind since she would be better looking, and she always wanted to know what she woudl look like with a tan. Wit hher skin complexion, it was impossible for her to tan. She only burned.

She was conscious of not hearing Kuin talk anymore, as he had finiahed briefing them a few minutes previously, and he had now left the bar. They were left alone with the bottle of Smoke Whiskey.

Everyone around the table was looking at their folios, their faces expressionless. She finished her glass and poured herself a second one after Alan had deposited the bottle back on the atble.

She looked at him over the ri of her glass and smiled. He was a good friend of hers, and she hoped it would stay that way forever.

"Where are we going to stay for the night?" she asked him after she had put her glass down.

"You don't have a clue of where you're staying either do you?" he asked her in turn.

"No"

"Why don't we find a place to sleep in the same spot? We can rely on each other for the night."

She wasn't sure what Sam wanted to do, but she hoped they would find out soon.  Either way, she knew taht atleast the both of them would stick together.

She looked at him in the eyes before saying "If we have to independantly find a place to spend the night I think we should both stick together. Just to be safe she added. I  also suggest that we also post watches. We can take turns. I'm not sure to really trust the people here."

"Agreed" Alan replie before taking another sip of his drink.

They both finished off their drinks. Lucky decided against another glass.

She got up , stretched , sat down and told him that she had to go get a tube of sunless tanner to match her appearance on her ID.

'Can I see yours?" he asked her.

"if you let me see yours"

"Okay"

They swapped IDs and carefully looked at the pictures. His looked very nice.

"You'll look handsome in that uniform you'll be weating"

"You will too"

She knew he thought she was pretty, and she felt the same for him. But she was afraid to let her feelings show. Sos he looked at him for a few seconds longer before watching and listening to the rest of the squad's conversations.

Alan and Lucky were the best of friends so it didn't surprise him when she suggested that they find accommodation together.  Alan didn't know what Sam was going to say with regards to the accommodation but he trusted Lucky with his life and he was sure that she felt the same way with him.  They had worked together within the Paladin squad for some time now and had grown a certain kind of bond between them.

Alan was very interested in seeing what Lucky's new name was going to be so they exchanged their ID's and Alan hoped that she wasn't going to laugh at his new ludicrous name.  Alan looked at her ID and thought to himself Jorden eh, will have to remember that.

Lucky commented that Alan would look good in his uniform.  Alan glanced up at Lucky and they exchanged looks.  Alan commented that Lucky would look good it her uniform as well.  Alan knew that Lucky would look good in any outfit of course.  He let his mind wander slightly, back to when he had danced with her at the Imperial Ball and to the stunning dress she had worn then.  He felt his chair slipping backwards at a dangerous angle and forced himself to bring his concentration back to the present and rectified himself before he went sprawling on the floor.

He finished off his second drink.  The bottle was starting to empty fast and Alan contemplated having a third when he felt his brain floating slightly.  He thought back to his lapse of concentration and decided that he had had enough.  If there was to be any form of watch tonight then he would want his senses keenly sharpened and not dulled down by the warmth of the whiskey.  He put his empty glass down and waited to find out what was happening with the accommodation.

Sam pulled his profile up and looked at it. It was not going to be an easy transition to his new, but temporary one. He was a human around the same height and weight, but the main problem was the fact he was listed as a human. The Zabrak scratched his head avoiding the horns on his head.

“Hmm,” Sam said quietly to himself, “This could be interesting.” He read through his profile and attributes. He was a human the age of 34 with a full head of blond hair by the name of Desric Pollard. His new persona did not have any facial hair to Sam’s great fortune.

Sam looked up when he realized that Lucky and Alan were discussing accommodations. It took them a moment to notice him.

“Uh, so what are your thoughts on where to stay?” Alan asked his new squad leader.

“Well, I would think we need to stay somewhat close to each other, but at a distance if you know what I mean,” Sam said. The group really did not have a clue as to what he was talking about. Sam had not realized he was no longer working with the normal group.

“No sir, I don’t exactly follow,” Alan replied.

“Oh pardon, I’m still not too settled here. Obviously,” Sam responded, “Basically, I would say we stay in the same hotel, just different areas of the hotel. Make more sense?” Alan nodded in understanding. “And don’t worry about the cost, I’ll cover it.”

Sam stood up with is file in hand, “You all pick a place and get a hold of me via com link. I’ve got to find some stuff to change my looks. Humans don’t have horns.” The squad let out a quiet laugh as Sam turned away and headed out the door of the cantina.

“Now is the part of finding a place that wouldn’t ask questions about the things I need,” Sam thought to himself as he walked down the street. He noted a costume place across the way and figured that he would check in there. “It may be just the place I’m looking for.” He walked briskly across the road and into the shop.

“Hello and welcome to ‘Guises and Parties,’ is there anything that you are interested in?” asked a 3PO droid asked from behind the counter. Sam headed towards the counter and slid the picture of his new persona to the droid.

“This is my good friend and I need stuff make me look like him,” Sam said with a smile, “I’m going to be playing a joke on him for a bit of fun.”

“We may have a few things that will give you near the same appearance. The only thing would be a mask that would have to be made, which we can do in store,” the 3PO droid responded, “I’ll go ask about the hair and get the mask prepped for you.”

Sam nodded as the droid disappeared into the back room. Sam’s eyes began to wander about the store. There were masks hanging on the walls of all kinds of species and popular characters. The isles were filled with different kinds of costumes, some more elaborate than others.

Sam took a step away from the counter to go browse, but just as he did the droid returned with a mask in hand and wig that matched rather closely to Sam’s new persona. “Sir?” the droid said.

The Zabrak jumped, startled from the droids voice. “Woah, that was fast,” Sam said spying the goods the 3PO droid held onto, “How much do I owe you?”

The droid pointed to a small screen next to the registered. Sam was surprised at the amount but did not show it. He tossed the credits to the droid, gathered his things and headed out the door. He had yet to hear anything from his squad. For all he knew they were still in the cantina. Sam headed back to the cantina to humor himself to see if they really were still there.

Before he made it to the cantina he put on his mask and wig. The fit was tight, but he figured that it would have to be to get the proper effect. He needed to study his background more to feel more comfortable with it, but he did his best to become Desric Pollard.

He entered the cantina slowly and casually. The squad was just getting up from the table as Sam made it to them with a slight smirk on his face.

“Hey guys,” Sam said.

"Holy...!" exclaimed Lucky as she saw a man with her SL's voice speak to them. "Nice costume, Sir" she said after a short pause.

She waited a little to see if he had anything else up his sleeve before she moved more closely to see the mask better. it looked tight,  that was better for him. He would look more like his temporary character on his ID card.

"It's nice" she heard someone comment. The horns didn't show which was good , and the hair covered the rest of his head. She slowly circled him while scrutinizing his appearance.

"With the right clothes you'll look great. No one will suspect you're not human. Now, let's go find some place to stay , shall we?"

She stepped out of the cantina and looked at the shops lining the street. she needed to find a cosmetics shop, or someplace where they sold tanning lotion at least.

Moving down the street and looking through the shop windows, she spotted the perfect shop for what she needed. A bell dinged as she opened the door, and a droid immediately rolled out of the back room and stopped behind the counter.

"Can I help you ma'am?" it looked eager to help her, so she immidiately told him what she wanted. Just to make sure he got the right lotion, she showed him the photo on her ID.

"I have just the thing. please hold a minute while I fetch  what you wish to purchase."

It moved to the back room once more, and Lucky risked a quick glance outside where she spotted Alan waiting for her. He was looking inside and smiling at her. Just to kid around, she made a face and he burst out laughing.

"Ma'am?" She looked around and saw the droid holding up a pretty big bottle fo lotion.

"Thank you"

She looked at the price and noticed that it was pretty cheap. Only 20 ICs. She decided that she would look around the shop for a few more cheap bottles of cosmetics that would help her oily skin.

She picked out two more bottles of lotion, each of a different brand and moved back to the cash register.

"That will add up to 56 ICs, please."

She ahnded him the Credits before going out of the shop wit her purchases. As she came close to Alan she started to laugh. This night had been very entertaining. Not because of the booze, just in general.

'Let's go find what you need if anything, then let's go find the squad' she suggested , still smiling.

Alan was shocked when he learned that Sam had to pass for a human.  He was even more surprised when the Zabrak returned as a human.  He looked at him closely and was amazed by the excellent work that had been done.  He could find no evidence of Sam's horns at all.

Alan left the cantina with Lucky and they went to a shop where she could purchase several cosmetics.  Alan was surprised when he saw how big the bottle of lotion was.  That will keep you going for months he thought to himself.  Lucky was in fine spirits as she laughed upon exiting the shop.  Alan put his arm around her and laughed alongside her.

"Let's go find what you need" she said.

"Me" said Alan as he placed his hand across his chest "and what do you think a charming person like Jevon Blackstar would need".

Lucky laughed harder and slapped Alan playfully on the chest and said "I guess he wouldn't need a thing, now let's go find the squad".

They were on their way back to the cantina when they met up with Sam.  They were still surprised when they saw him in his human form but they were starting to get more accustomed to his new look.  Sam directed them to a cheap looking hotel where the rest of the squad was already settling in.

"I see you got us the cheapest place then" said Alan, laughing at the thought of spending the night there.

Sam smiled and replied "it's the kind of place where no questions are asked, go find yourselves rooms and I'll see you tomorrow".

With that, Lucky and Alan proceeded into the hotel.  Before they went up to the front desk, Alan leaned over and whispered in Lucky's ear "do you want to go for a twin room together or do you just want to get separate rooms?"

"Let's go for a twin room" she said. She didn't feel comfortable in this hotel. It looked like a place where bad people would stay, but then again, they dealt with bad citizens on a regular basis.

They walked up to the reception desk. The droid receptionist looked at them both and asked "how may I help you folks?"

"We'd like a twin room , please" responded Lucky.

The droid turned around and hunhooked a key from where it was hanging.

"Here you go ma'am"

"Thank you" she said as she took the key from the droid's mechanical hand.

"Shall we?" she asked Alan as they moved away from the desk. they went up the stairs to the first floor of bedrooms. The number on the key was E12 . They walked up three more flights of stairs and came to the designated floor. this one wasn't like the other ones.

This floor was well-lit, the lights coloured the walls in a bluish hue. All of the doors had some sort of an electronic lock. They walked up to a door with their room number. The lock was strange, but atleast they had a bit of security.

She inserted the key in the keyhole, and tried to turn it, but the key wouldn't move. They heard a buzz and a click as the lovk disengaged and the door swung open.

The room beyond was of a fair size, though it needed a few more pieces of furniture it would do. There was only one Queen-sized bed. i think they thought we were married.

They looked around the room, and Lucky spotted a closet. She opened it, and found a folded cot. she was used to these, they were quite comfortable in general with their soft, thick mattresses.

She took it out with difficulty and set it in a corner of the room. she opened another door and found a small linen closet. She took out a pillow, and some sheets.

After she mage her bed, they watched a little TV to learn more about the environment they were in. A half hour passed and it wasn't getting any interesting, so Alan switched off the television and they stepped out of the room, to go locate the rest of the squad.

Sam had just been given the fake identity of a human! Hunter could'nt believe it, how was Sam going to hide those horns? Sam  went off so the squad waited in the cantina, Hunter looked down at his ID the name read"Aldin Morganus" the person in the picture looked a little lighter skined but most of the rest was similar to himself. "Hey guys",said Sam's voice. Hunter looked up and almost toppled over the table, Sam now had on a mask and wig that looked identical to the picture of the man on the ID. "wow" said Hunter, "How much did that cost? "Enough."replied Sam.
Hunter then went looking for some makeup to give him a lighter skin tone. He walked into a store and asked about some makeup to make his skin more pale, the droid gave him what he requested. He then set towards the hotel. When he arrived he groanedgreat we're staying at the mobster inn. he went in and the droid kindly said, "Hello how may I help you?" " A room for one."replied Hunter. He went to his, E19 he saw Lucky and Alan and waved to them. He went into his and it looked okay and he unpacked and thought well hope this squad leader can stick around and this may be a start to a great friendship.
I want what's coming to me . "what's coming to you?" The world Chico, and every thing in it.

Alan waved back at Hunter before following Lucky into the hotel room and his eyes widened when he noticed that there was only one bed.  Well this is awkward he thought to himself.  He was just about to suggest to Lucky that he sleep on the floor when he noticed her opening up a closet and retrieving a folded cot.

Alan asked Lucky if she wanted the large bed and he would sleep on the cot but Lucky refused informing him that she was very used to the cots and preferred to sleep on it.  Shrugging his shoulders, he flopped down on the large bed and switched on the TV.  There seemed to be nothing of any interest on and so they both decided that they would head out and see if they could locate the rest of the squad.

Alan suggested that they try the bar in the hotel.  Entering it, they discovered that it was a dank dark cess pool.  Alan's hand wavered down by his side, his fingers twitching as he scanned the area for any possible sign of threat.  He glanced at Lucky and noticed that she too was on high alert for trouble.

They spotted a human sitting alone in a darkened corner of the bar and Alan queried "Is that Sam?"  He was still not used to seeing his new Squad Leader as a human.

Lucky looked over at replied "Yes, it is Desric" making an audible emphasis on the man's new name.  Alan mentally ticked himself off for using Sam's real name in public.

They moved over and sat down beside him, they noticed that he had a bottle of whiskey in front of him.  He offered them a glass but Alan declined, he knew that in a place like this, his senses would have to be on full alert for trouble.

A nearby customer stood up, staggered and collapsed on the floor, causing his table to crash down around him.  The noise startled Alan and he whirled round, blaster raised and pointing and the drunken and unconscious man.  Several customers glanced up at Alan before returning to their drinks.

"Take it easy" said Sam, "we're here to keep a low profile".

"Yes Sir" replied Alan as he reholstered his weapon, thinking to himself take it easy, in this place.

OOC:
sam, I decided to have a little fun in this post, seeing as this is the true beginning of the mission. but this is the only one that's gonna involve you and a bottle of whiskey in it

As Sam offered her a drink, she declined. She had no intentins of having her senses dulled by alcohol. Especially not in this hotel. She startled as the drunk man crashed to the floor, bringing with him, the table he had been sitting at along with a few more items.

Disgusted by the man's way of showing that he was too drunk and sleep in his bed, she grew a little fidgety. She didn't want to become a barfbag or a rag doll that some people enjoy abusing.

"So, Desric, how are things going?" she was referring to the steps that would make their undercover operation really begin.  They talked about it for a good half hour in which Sam had polished off the bottle of whiskey.

His eyes looked a little glazed over by the alcohol by then. She leaned toward Alan and whispered in his ear "I think we should help him up the stairs, or atleast accompany him to his room."

Alan nodded and they both stood up. "Where you guys going?" Asked a tipsy looking Sam.

"To accompany you to your room, come."

the two fellow soldiers helped him to his feet , and supported him as they walked out of the bar and made the treacherous journey upstairs to their floor.

once up to the floor marked "E" , Lucky searched Sam's pockets for his key as Alan supported him. When she reached his left pants pocket, she found the key and fished it out of his pants.

His room was nu,ber 11 on this floor. once they reached it, she opened the door for them and they laid Sam on his bed where they would leave him to rest.

She hoped he wouldn't have too much of a hangover once he awoke in the morning.

As they walked to their room, no words were spoken. But she felt a few questions tugging st her mind. She ignored the sensation as they moved along the dimly-lit hallway.

When she opened the door, the room was as dark as the first time they had entered it. She felt her way to the small bathroom, changed and went straight to bed.

Alan had been glad that he had decided against taking anymore whiskey after he had seen the effects it had had on Sam.  Both Lucky and he had taken Sam back to his room and Alan hoped that Sam would not feel too hung over the next day.

Lucky and Alan made their way back to their room and Lucky headed straight to bed.  Alan watched as she curled up on her cot and drifted off to sleep.  Alan lay on the bed and thought about their upcoming mission.  He wasn’t feeling sleepy and wasn’t overly keen on going to sleep in this place and so he lay on the bed, awake and with his blaster strapped to his side and within easy reach should he need it.

He lay there for some time before he started to feel his eyes closing slightly.  Alan opened his eyes and was startled to see light streaming into the room and Lucky looking down at him.

“Hey sleepy head” she commented.

“Is it morning already?” queried Alan as he realised he must have drifted off sometime during the night.

“Sure is” replied Lucky as she looked out through the window.

Alan got up slowly and rubbed his eyes.  He was glad that nothing had happened during the night and was eager to get the day started.

“I wonder what Sam is like today?” he queried to Lucky.

“I’m sure Desric will be fine”

“Right, right” commented Alan as he heard Lucky using Sam’s alias name.  He knew that they were in their private room but you never knew who was listening.

“I’m starved” commented Lucky.

“Shall we go get some breakfast then and maybe we’ll meet up with our fellow squad mates down there” replied Alan.

Lucky smiled and held out her arm.  Alan intertwined his arm with hers and said “let’s go”.

They unlocked their door and headed downstairs.

They headed toward the stairs,  wondering if Sam was allright. As they descended to the lower levels the stairs creaked and groaned , which made Lucky fear that they would collapse at any moment.

When they reached the lobby , her fears had vanished. They looked around for a restaurant other than the bar to eat breakfast , they found none.

As they reluctantly headed toward the bar to go see if they had anything edible, a strong smell of urine and vomit filled their  nostrils. Wrinkling their noses with disgust , they saw pools of vomit  and splotches on the walls that suggested no one used the bathrooms after a certain hour.

Turning away from the  revolting smell , they spotted Sam coming down the stairs. "Hey Desric, if you're thinking about breakfast I would go eat out if I were you."

"Want to come join us?" alan asked him as he approached.

"Sure" replied Sam "Let's go then shall we?"

The three of them headed out the door and started to walk around in the cool morning air. Most of the shops were closed, but a few coffe shops were open.

"Nice tan" commented Sam at Lucky's golden look.

"Thanks" she responded, looking around for a good place to eat.

"Any headache , Sam?" queried Alan remebering last night's events.

"None. Why?"

deciding not to talk avout that just yet, Lucky interrupted the conversation by saying "I think i gound a suitable place to eat breakfast."

They walked toward where Lucky had pointed, and a block later they spotted the coffee shop she had mentioned.

"Nice walk to get breakfast. How'd you get here so quickly?" Alan asked her.

"I jogged" was her answer.

They entered the coffee shop and spotted a human at the cash regster. Atleast they didn't let droids take over this shop

As they walked to a table in the far corner of the shop, they spotted a few droids who were serving other people. They arrived at their table and sat down around it. A droid came over and asked what they wanted to eat or drink.

"I'll have an espresso with a fruit Explosion muffin" lucky ordered.

"I'll have the same" Alan replied when the droid had turned to him.

"I'll have a bagel with a black coffee"

The droid moved away with their oders and they resumed talking once they were out of earshot.

It was not long before a droid came over with their order.  Alan was starved and he munched heartily into his fruit explosion muffin.  He realised how it got its name because as soon as he bit into it his mouth was assaulted with a large variety of fruitiness.  He took a sip of his espresso and smiled.  It had been some time since he had drunk any form of coffee and he enjoyed every sip of it.  Lucky and Sam seemed to be equally hungry as they munched into their food.

“So, what’s the plan Desric?” queried Alan, he was pleased with himself that he was finally getting used to calling Sam by his new name of Desric now even though he was still not 100% used to seeing him as a human.

Sam swallowed some more of his bagel before replying “Our first port of call will be to go to the Consolidated Salvage and touch base with our contact”

Lucky chirped in “Tarj Vic’tiir”

Sam continued “exactly, once we meet up with him we will then get our crash course in salvage recovery”.

“Sounds like fun” replied Alan, even though he knew there would be no killing involved.

“What about the rest of the squad?” queried Lucky, aware that they had seen none of the other members of the squad this morning.

“Don’t worry about it, I briefed them last night about meeting up at the Consolidated Salvage so they should be there soon” replied Sam.

“We’d better get moving then” said Alan as he finished off his expresso.

“Agreed” replied Lucky who had already finished.

Sam downed the remainder of his coffee and said “Let’s go”.

With that the trio got up, Sam paid for the meal and they left the coffee shop and headed towards the Consolidated Salvage.

The trio walked casually down the street in the direction of Consolidated Salvage. They were all dressed in their salvage garb with their identification tags hanging from their breasts. They did not attract any eyes of the common folk. Apparently, the sight of salvage workers walking in groups was not an uncommon occurrence. Even if it was, the three would have failed to notice any spectators. They were enthralled in conversation.

“So, what do you think of the Paladin squad Desric?” Lucky asked.

“Hmm?” Sam looked over at her, “Well, they are definitely a different group of people from the Dragoons. Complete difference in mentality. It is, surprisingly, a welcome change.”

“That is great to hear, sir,” Alan replied.

“There really is no need for such formalities. They make me feel old.” Sam let out a laugh and was soon joined by Lucky and Alan. For Sam it truly was a different feel. It was nice to be able to let loose and enjoy the company of his squad mates, where before he felt that he had to play the leader roll all the time, which made him rather stonewall.

As they turned down another street, the view of the salvage station came into view. It was a moderately large facility and clearly a busy place to work and be around. It almost felt as though the station was growing in size as they approached. After a moment of awe, they returned to their conversation.

“How long have you two been working together?” Sam asked out of interest.

“We have been working together for a while. How long would you say Lucky?” Alan replied.

“I’m not really too sure. I would have to think about it for a bit,” Lucky chuckled. She walked in silence thinking back on when the first time the two had started to work together. She was snapped back into the moment when the voices of the rest of the Paladin squad pierced the silence from behind them.

“Hello there,” sounded a remotely familiar voice. Sam pivoted about his position to face the voice. It was the voice of the other Paladins following up the rear to the salvage station. Sam was a bit startled and was prepared for anything. He did well to not show his surprise.

“Having a stonewall personality for so long helps at times I guess,” he thought to himself.

Alan was slightly surprised when Lucky couldn't remember how long they had been working together.  He decided to think on the subject a bit longer.  Finally figuring it out, he said to Sam "as far as I recall, I think Lucky and I have been working together for just under a year now.  Lucky looked over and nodded.  Sam whistled and said "that's quite some time, seems you two have built up a good rapport with each other".  Lucky and Alan looked at each other and smiled.  Sam noticed and knew that he didn’t need to know anything more.  The trio were soon joined by the remainder of the Paladin squad and they headed towards the spaceport.

Arriving at the yard, Sam asked the nearest worker where they could find Tarj Vic'tiir.  The man looked them over and said "new workers eh, you'll find Tarj over there" as he pointed at a nearby hut.

Sam and the squad walked over to the hut just as a large and muscular man was leaving it.

"Tarj Vic'tiir?" queried Sam.

The man looked them over and nodded.

"My name is" said Sam.

"I don't need to know who you are, I know who you are and you better keep out of trouble, I'm sticking my neck out for the likes of you and I don't want it chopped off, you hear".

Sam nodded and the rest of the Paladin squad looked on wondering what it was that they had gotten themselves into.

"Follow me" said Tarj "I got to show you the ropes of the business.  You better pay attention and not screw up, and I hope you remember how to do EVA work cause there'll be some of that".

With that Sam and the squad headed off with Tarj to begin their training and the commencement of their mission.

When Sam had asked about how long they had been working together, she was sure it was under a year. They had started in the middle of January , so it's been a little more than seven months. Almost eight for sure.

When she heard the voices that indicated the rest of the squad had joined them , she was feeling kinda happy. She didn't want it to be just the three of them.

As they kept walking, they saw the spaceport up ahead. our first destination   Meeting up with Tarj near the spaceport, they followed him to begin their training.  he didn't look like a very nice guy, but the again , he could get screwed over because of them.

They followed him to a  place near the starport  where they could train without being disturbed. Their jobs looked simple, but it was really complicated. They had to pack up the tailings of a new ship , but there was more. Wire sorting, deckplating , some EVA work and probably taking down thigs.

As they trained, they learned not to speak unless they were spoken to , and to do the job right. Sorting had to be perfect , and so was the deckplating. When the squad  went to sleep at night, they would talk a little about their training , usong their aliases of course, so that their true identites wouldn't be revealed.
-------------------------------------------------------------

  A WEEK LATER

Their training was complete, they could finally head to the shipyard and continue their mission. all thanked tarj , they got a simple grunt in return, but that was good enough for them.

They went to the spaceport and asked a deckhand for a ship that would take them to the shipyard. "Here's a fine ship that'll take you wherever you want."

"Thanks" said Sam as they boarded. Lucky and Alan had been carrying large bags that contained beacons.  As the ramp was lifted , they were putting the first beacon in a torpedo chute. The second , she attached to the trash container. Both of them had broadcast delays that would be activated once they were launched.

They left the spaceport  and did as directed by the controlloers. they moved into the station and the beacon was discreetly launched in such a way that it would hook itself up to the station and stay in place without bring noticed.

As they moved out of the station toward the shipyard , toward the first security point, they put the trash bin into its transport container, making sure to hook the beacon up to the bin in such a way where it would clamp itself onto the structure. It was painted and made of certain materials so that it would be very hard to detect.

As they moved through the checkpoint , and received clearabce to continue on , they dumped their trash and the beacon did exactly as planned. Now all that was left was one beacon which they again set into a torpedo launching chamber.

As they approached the  shipyard, they launched the last beacon. It revolved slowly into space as it was released , and it finally stuck to the hull , in the crook of a stabilization wing.

'You know your trash was supposed to be dumped earler right?" asked a bored-sounding voice over the ship's PA.

"We know " replied sam "We just had to dump the full septic tank. Someone orgot to do it last time"

"Allright" replied the voice before he closed the connection.  all three beacons were now in place, now all that was left to do was set the triangulation beacon on the MC-90, which would not be a very easy task.

As they landed in the shipyard's landing dock , a man was waiting for them at a door "Come with me, I'll show you around."

The squad followed the man as he showed them around , an hour later they came to a partly assembled mC-90. Lucky was still carrying the bag that contained  the triangulation beacon. She carefully  looked around to see what kind of security they had. There were some cameras, but moat were concentrated on the landing docks, and the surrounding areas.

They were showed to their workplaces and told to start putting the ship tailing in boxes. No onee soke as they worked, lucky had kept the bag with her , and looked at her watch every so often. They worked on the wire  sorting and packing tailings until nightfall, when supper was served.

They knew exactly what they ahd to do , they just had to find the right time.  they ate the disgusting food in silence before they were sent to one large bedroom , which also had  a bathroom. They could use their IDs as security cards, which was good.

Sam used his kiini-computer to write a report to HQ. In the report, he spoke about the MC-90  , but spent uch time n detailing security. They ahd counted atleast six mini-cams in the docking bay , and ten more circled the shipyard itself. They also used men as security guards , it wold be quite easy to mount the beacon on the ship. he sent the report and once he was sure it had reached its destination, turned off his ini-computer and watched Lucky and Alan leave the room.

They snaked along tables and other small buildings, using them as cover so that the cameras wouldn't discover them. As they approached the spot where the MC-90 was , she spotted a camera swivelling around slowly. She waited until it wouldn't see them then ran to the cover of the next small building.

At one corner, a guard was pacing, he looked very bored and tired. "I think he'll enjoy his sleep." She took out a tube which contained a sleeping dart and , when the cmera had turned away from where they were hiding , shot it out of its protective casing by blowing into the tube. It hit the man at the back of the neck and he fell , sleeping like a baby.

still making sure the camera wasn't looking, she motioned to Alan to grab the body and make it sit up , leaning on the corner. As he proppped the man up into a sitting position she frantically motioned to him to come back.

He went back to her side just in time, the camera slowly swiveled their way and stopped on the sleeping man.  The camera whirred and started swiveling back to look at the other side of its viewing axe.

Lucky took the chance, and sprinted to the mC-90, hunkered low just in case someone happened by. She plaved the beacon where it would be hard to notice, below a nasselle. She looked back at Alan and waited for him to give her the go-ahead for her to jog back.

When she was safely back wit hhim, he led the way back to their room. Five minutes later , they opened the door and walked in. The journey had gone without incident.

When he saw them come back, Sam nodded his approval of their successful mission , and the three of them went to bed.

Oops, my bad. Y'all work fast. Alright, new orders. Since you are already on the shipyard facility, I'm going to need you to begin taking care of some of the defensive turrets. You will then try to start venting sections of the facility in order to break it off into chunks separated by areas of no atmosphere. It doesn't mean the station defenders can't move around, it will just make it very hard to. Get with either the Dark Dragoons or Eclipse to either further sabotage the facility or to begin taking over the MC90.  Thanks.

It was yet another day on the spaceport facility and Sam gathered the squad together, ensuring that they were alone before speaking.

“Alright squad, excellent job so far, all the beacons have been set and no-one is any the wiser.  Last night I received an encrypted message from High Command, they were very pleased with the detailed report I sent and that the beacons are active but now they need us to cause some disruption to this place”.

“What kind of disruption are you talking about Sir?” queried Alan.

“Well for starters we can take out some of the defensive turrets around this place.  High Command also wants us to vent some sections of this facility to space”.

“How will that help?” queried Lucky “I’ve studied the schematics for this place and there are numerous corridors, you vent one section and there will always be a way around it”.

“Very true” replied Sam “but it will take the station defenders longer to get to where they are going.  That extra time could mean the difference between success and failure”.  Sam looked around at their faces making sure that they comprehended the seriousness of the mission and that lives depended on their succeeding.

He waited for a time, letting the information sink in before asking “any questions?”  He looked around at the squad to see if anyone had anything to ask.  When he was satisfied that there were no questions he continued “so as not to arouse any suspicion, we will go individually throughout this facility.  I do not want a large group attracting any unwarranted attention.  If any of you need assistance then use the secure com channel, otherwise let’s do as much damage as possible”.

.”Yes Sir” replied the squad in unison.

Sam nodded and watched as the squad members started filing out one by one.  He wished them all the best, he knew they would need it.

Lucky gulped as she went out back to where she was supposed to be working. This is where the real fun starts..   She decieded that she should try and take out the turret nearest where they were staying. it would not be an easy job, and she knew that the chances of her gettig hurt were high enough.

She quietly moved toward her right, that was near where the MC90 was located, so it was practically guaranteed that there would be a turret there.

The shipyard was  big enogh to hold a few MC90s, but small enough so that it wouldn't take her a day to cross over to the other side.  She knew people would soon be wondering why she wasn't where she was supposed to be, packing up tailings.

She used small buildings as cover, and after having to knock out two guards near the ship, she found herself facing the MC90 itself. The turret was around there somewhere, she just wasn't sure where.

She decided to wait, hunkered down at the side of a building, for a sign that would tell her that some of her squad had achieved teir goals. she knew taht not all would be taking out turrets, so she kept her eyes peeled for any sign of the turret.

She crawled around the building and decided to move closer to the MC90, it looked nice and shiny from here. So she hoped it wouldn't be riddled with holes and gashes after they were done.

Once she was safely hidden, she watched and waited to see if anything would happen before midday.

Dressed all in black, Alan kept to the shadows as he slipped quietly down the hallways.  His target was one of the defensive turrets of the shipyard facility.  He assumed that the turret would be guarded and he was very happy to have his blaster strapped to his side.

Before heading out, he had scanned and memorised the layout of the facility and he knew that the turret was just around the next corner.  He moved as quietly as he could to the corner and peeked round.  He saw two guards standing watch over the turret.  This is going to be too easy thought Alan as he took out his blaster, happy to finally be getting to use it.

Alan quickly moved round the corner, weapon raised.  He fired immediately and dropped the first guard before he ever had a chance to realise he was under attack.  The second guard was quick and his weapon was raised and firing.  Alan dived under the blaster fire, rolled and brought his weapon to bear on the second guard.  A few well placed shots and the guard was down.

Alan looked around, checking to make sure there were no more guards before moving over to the turret to look at it.  It was an automatic turret that scanned for enemy vessels.  Opening up a panel, Alan checked out its circuitry.  I wish Lucky were here, she could figure this thing out in seconds thought Alan as he looked at the complicated wiring.  Only one thing for it he thought as he fired repeatedly into the circuity.  Sparks flew out from the console as outside, the turret lowered and deactivated itself.

“Well that’s one down” said Alan to himself.  I wonder how the rest of the squad is getting on he thought as he moved back down the hall to another target.

Midday came, and nothing had happened so she decided it was time to act. She slowly got up from her crouching position and looked around her. The land was bare...There was the random building here and there, a few guards pattrolling in the distance. She could take care of them later.

To her immediate left were two guards surrounding the turret she was planning to disable. This will be a little complicated The guards were facing opposite directions so it would be hard not to alert the other while she took out one of them.  But this is what she liked, challenges.

She slowly walked toward the turret and quickly started to think about how she would do this successfully. The turret was surrounded by small buildings, and the MC90 was just behind the turret itself. She decided that she would take the long way around and climb atop one of the shacks. Should be easy enough

Once behind the correct building she proceeded to try and climb it without alerting anyone. it was of course, easier said than done. Her boots scraped the flimsy metal and you could hear it squeal a little. She finally decided to do it another way. She leaped and lifted her arms away from her sides to grasp a section o the roof taht protruded. Making sure her legs and feet were behind her back, she swung near the shack and hoped her body wouldn't touch it. when her body had almost stopped moving, she made herself once more and in mid-swing hoisted her body high in the air, landing on the roof with a soft but ringy clang.

One of the guards had heard her and had looked around. She stayed there, crouching and motionless until his attention turned back to where he was supposed to stare.

She decided to take him out first. She swung her upper body down so that only her calves and feet held her to the building. Both men were in easy reach so she took her blaster and hit the first man behind the head. He fell to the ground with an "Oof" , the other guard had heard his comapnion and had started to turn around when Lucky hit him behind the head in turn.

She lookled at both of the crumpled masses on the ground below her and smiled I waited a long while to finally do this here . She decided not to move the bodies since they were going to be discovered either way and moved toward the turret. It was a surface-to-air turret so there was no chance of it shooting her, but she took no chances. She circled it and found the panel that powered it. Opening the panel she quickly looked at the circuitry. This is going to be easy knowing exactly ehich wire to cut, she fetched her knife from its holster and cut the red wire. with a whine, the turret deactivated.

"Now to move on to the next one."

Renji headed for his target after listening to Sam's orders. He was heading for one of the shipyard turrets. He knew it would be guarded so he was looking forward to a little action. He walked trying to keep out of sight behind buildings and walls.

He kept going over the way to his destination as he walked. He slowed down when he came close to the turret. He kept close to the wall and walked silently forward. At the next corner would be the turret.

He took out a small mirror from his pocket and used it to glance around the corner. He was partially glad for his life on the streets because it taught him a couple of useful tricks. He saw two guards positioned near the turret. By the way that they acted he figured that they must be new, they fidgeted and they seemed that they could not keep still for a minute. He watched them and waited for them to both turn around. The instant that they did he took out his two DC-15s blaster pistols and turned the corner. With a well aimed shot each the guards dropped to the floor.

Before taking care of the turret he took the bodies and hid them in a stack of wooden crates that lay empty nearby. After they were concealed he moved to the turret. He checked to make sure that no guards were coming before he finally got to work on the turret. He opened the panel on the turret and examined it's interior. It was a mass of circuits and wires that sparked on occasion. After scanning it for a few minutes he took out his vibroblade and cut a wire. To his satisfaction the turret deactivated.

"It's always the red one," he chuckled to him self as he moved on to his next objective.

Alan moved to the next target which was another turret.  He rounded the corner quietly, weapon raised, ready for action.  He was surprised to find that the guards were lying down on the floor, dead.  He went over to the turret to find out that the red wire had been cut and that the turret was now deactivated.  Right thought Alan to himself always the red one, must remember that for future.  Alan was pleased to see that his fellow squad mates were causing as much mayhem as himself.

Alan decided to move in a different direction in the hopes that he was not following in the path of one of his squad members.  Moving to a fork in the corridor, Alan was instantly aware of voices coming from round the bend on the left.  He moved up slowly to the bend and peeked round.  He noticed several guards guarding a turret.  He was about to plan his attack when he noticed a large viewport next to the turret.

I can kill two birds with one stone thought Alan.  Alan composed himself, timing would be crucial if this were to succeed.  Feeling composed, he whirled round the bend and opened fire on the guards.  One dropped down dead instantly, whilst the others dove for cover.  Alan watched them closely as they dove for cover.  He then turned his attention to the viewport and fired continuously at it.  The glass started to shatter and the guards hastily turned their attention to the shattering viewport.

"Are you crazy!" exclaimed one of the guards.

Alan didn't respond as his firing continued.  The guards decided to opt for living a safer life and retreated quickly down the corridor.  Their retreat was short lived as the glass shattered and the area was opened up into space.  Alarm klaxons sounded throughout the area as air started to be sucked out into space.  One of the guards was not as lucky as his body was pulled back and shot outside.  Heavy bulkheads started to descend and Alan moved his body with all his might.  It was hard, trying to fight against the gravity.  He dived under one of the bulkheads, narrowly being impaled by it.

He breathed heavily, sucking in huge gulps of air.  "Well that’s one area vented into space, I hope that causes some disruption for the station's defenders" he said to himself as he sat down for a minute to recover.

Lucky had been walking away from the now deactivated turret and walking toward a place she thought hadn't been checked out yet. She thought imperative that everyone not from VE be eliminated.

as she was walking along, silently killing guards scattered here and there she faintly heard klaxons off in the distance.

People have already started venting the place . She started to jog towards the direction of the sound, but a few people had heard her coming and went in her direction, weapons in hand.

She swiftly pulled out her dC-15 Blaster Pistol and started shooting before any of them had the time to react.  One blaster bolt hit her in the shoulder and she fell back on the ground with a howl of pain.

In rage, she jumped back to her feet and shot down the rest of them. Her shoulder blinding her, she staggered forwards a few steps before she had to sit wit hher back to a utility shed.

She inspected her shoulder as best she could, but all she saw was blood trickling down her arm. Wish I had my armor on me.   she managed to get up and continue walking toward the noise the klaxons made.

As the noise got louder, she saw guards running toward where the sound was coming from. deciding that the squad didn't need anyone dead, she jogged in the other direction and saw another viewport.

Using the corner of the wal as cover, she shot at it with her uninjured arm . The glass shattered and everything that was in the direct path of the viweport was sucked into vacuum.

Staggeribg away from the area and hiding in a shed, she took out her comm and used the emergency fequency. She knew that not alot of people were on it, so she didn't have nuch chance of being  attacked.

"To anyone who receives this transmission, this is Sergeant Luckystar. I'm injured and in need of assistance."

With that, she turned off the comm. She knew that it had a beacon that would show her fellow troopers where she was.

As Renji walked along he heard klaxons off in the distance. It has begun then. he thought to himself. I better hurry on with my objectives.

He followed the route to his next objective taking out guards along the way. As he approached a viewpoint he could hear a lot of talking. He started to slow his pace as he reached the corner. He took out his mirror again and looked around the corner.

1,2,3 guards. he thought. I figured it would be more then that. Oh well. He took out a few frag grenades and tossed them around the corner. He heard them detonate and he heard the guards scream in pain. he turned the corner and took out one survivor with his blaster rifle.

After the guards were dealt with he turned his attention to the viewpoint. He shot the glass a few times and it shattered. The guards that he had just taken out and a few other things were sucked into space.

He turned and started walking to his next objective when his comm crackled to life. To anyone who receives this transmission, this is Sergeant Luckystar. I'm injured and in need of assistance. Lucky was hurt some where. He started for her position taking out any guard he saw in his way.He soon arrived at where she was located.

"You alright," he asked as he started patching her up.

"Yes I'm fine now" she responded.

"Good but I am going to stay with you just in case. I personaly don't want any of my squad mates wandering around in a hostile area injured." he informed her.

"Thats fine. Now inform the others that I am fine while I plan our next move." She told him.

Alan stood up after recovering from the loss of air.  He started to move along the corridor when he realised that he heard footsteps getting louder.  Damn it he thought as he realised that the station’s defenders were approaching his position fast to find out what had happened.  He raised his weapon preparing to defend himself, trying to find some way to either get into a better covering position or to vacate the area so as not to be pinned down.  He never got much chance as five defenders rounded a bend and immediately opened fire on Alan’s position.

Alan’s com chattered to life as an emergency broadcast was issued from Lucky.  Alan desperately wanted to give assistance but he had his own problems.  He was tucked behind a corner in the corridor, the only place that was giving him some cover.  He peeked out every so often to let loose a few shots but he had to quickly get back into cover as numerous shots pounded on his position.  I wish I had some thermal detonators he thought to himself.

Peeking round the corner he let off several shots, he wounded one of the defenders but noticed that the man was still alive.  He hastily returned to his cover before they returned fire.  As he done so, he noticed something and his mind started racing with options.  They’re not that stupid, are they? thought Alan to himself.  There was only one way to find out.  When the firing had died back down, Alan peered out from his hiding place, acquired the target which was an alarm bell and fired at it.  The shots hit and immediately the bell started to ring.  Alan heard the defenders talking loudly amongst themselves as soon as they noticed the bell ringing.  They immediately withdrew at an alarming rate.  “I guess they are that stupid” commented Alan as he watched them leave, obviously thinking that there was another breach.

Alan quickly left the area before the defenders realised that they had been duped.  Alan was about to link in with Lucky when he got a call from Renji who advised him that Lucky was alright.

“Stay with her” replied Alan over the com.

“Yes Sir” replied Renji “I was already planning on staying with her anyway”.

“Glad to hear it Renji, keep up the good work”.

Alan signed off the com and pondered on what his next move would be.
