Jaden awoke to the alarms going off in the fighter. He was coming back to real speed. It had been nearly 14 hours since he had been on the hyperspeed route, and sleeping was the only thing to do.
Jaden checked the nav computer and all of the systems terminals. Everything was on track, besides the fact that he seemed to be getting low on fuel.
Good thing I'm not paying for any of this fuel...
The stars began to appear back to their solid form, and the sleekly designed fighter dropped drastically in speed. The interceptor model was not origninally built for hyperspeed travel: only in and out of hangers and into battle. But, this fighter had its values. This fighter was built for anything.
Anything...
The gloss black coloured fighter had been in his possesion nearly 15 years now. Many memories were kept with the fighter through Jaden's challenges and journeys, but never did he forget the instance of his uncles death. Fleeing the planet of Janeiro was one of the worst, but best decisions that the young pilot ever made.
Jaden quicly realized that he was back in realspace, with a strike cruiser sitting right in front of him. Little did he realize, the officers aboard the Atrus must not have notified the
Doashim of Jaden's early arrival, or there wouldn't have been half a squadron of interceptors traveling his way.
"Whoa, this is Vast Empire friendly craft, do not fire," said Jaden, brining the controls to his hand and queing his headset to the allied channel.
"Present your ships ID codes immediately, or prepare to be boarded," said a familiar voice. It must not have been who he was thinking off, because this was an
Impossible coincidence.
"Sending them through now. Who am I speaking with right now?" said Jaden
"This is Lieutenant Commander Amason aboard the Strike Cruiser
Doashim. I have ord-"
Jaden cut him off quick.
"Come on now Am...you aren't seriously second guessing me here, now are you?" said Jaden
There was an awkward silence.
"Whoa....is this Jaden?" said Amason
"Who else do you think it is?"
"Well....I mean"
"Yes, yes, you know its me. Those ID codes sure have better checked out...." said Jaden
Or atleast I hope so....
"You are good to land in our main fighter hanger, Hanger D-14 section B," said Amason, "Nice to hear from you. See you on board"
A smile appeared on Jaden's face as he brought the fighter to a new heading. He had never been on the
Doashim, but now he had to accept the fact that this could be his final resting place before heading into retirement. Or could this be his permenant position as Sentinel Squadron commander?
Jaden quickly hopped out of the fighter after smootly landing it in the hanger bay. Sliding down the ladder, Jaden noticed that a couple of techs were scrambling around with an interceptor and looked as if they were having trouble. Jaden give them a quick wave, knowing that they would get the work finished.
The door leaving the hanger hissed open and presented the innards of the
Doashim. Jaden had noticed it on his way in, but not until now did he see the real extent of the damage on the strike cruiser. Rubbel was scattered about in the hall, and techs were scrambling about, trying to get the repairs done as quick as possible. There wasn't much time left before the
Doashim would set out on a new course for a new mission.
Jaden followed the ships grid to his newly assigned office. It looked as if it had been used before.
Really used. The walls were a bit of a stain of yellow, and the entire room smelled like tar from cigarettes. Coffee mugs were scattered about the desk and the computer terminal had dust all over it. Nobody had bothered to clean up their previous mess before they took all of their paperwork and left the office, but Jaden didn't mind. He could get used to the worn feeling, because that was about the feeling that his body was feeling at that point in time.
Worn
Jaden turned the computer terminal on and lit up a small cigarillo. He was stressed out from the long, and boring flight. Not often did he go on long distance travels, but this one was extra boring. He had nobody with him, no music to listen to (Due to the fact that the fighter had some wiring issues that needed to be tended to. The radio being one of those.)
Jaden had already known that Shazam was on board, but as far as other things he knew, he was the only pilot out of the squadrons of the VE that was on board. As the computer terminal came to life, Jaden took a drag off of the miniature cigar and let the smoke begin to fill the room. Log on screens began to appear. Jaden quickly logged in, hoping that his new information was already ran into the networking aboard the ship, and to his suprise, it was. New message windows popped up all over the screen, and Jaden knew what laid before him. Another job commanding a squadron.
Hopefully it'll work out this time....
