My first mission with Aegis was far from ordinary.  Hidden Power didn't include one bit of flying.  But it involved depth.  It is my favorite story to date.

Aegis Rides Again is the sequel to Hidden Power.  Hidden Power was a failure, leaving many injured and the target lost.  In ARA, we will return to asteroid prime, track down the special corvette, and exact revenge.

Alright Raigen, seeing as how the ESC is coming up, we are going to have to put the whole Aegis thing on hold because I have some "other" plans that you will find out.

Just hold your horses, anybody who wanted to join up still can, just wait until the ESC is over.

Alright, thanks

-Jaden, former Aegis Squadron Commander, Aegis Squadron XO, and Aegis Squadron Flight leader.

Raigen Tei-Yehn had been made Sector Marshal, and granted two ships. The corvette captured at Ghemist had its engines replaced with that of commercial trader with a clean record and the same speed. The trader ship had be salvaged by the RDA after it was found drifting above Hoth with a dead crew. The CR90 Avignon was indeed an odd ship now that it had been stripped of the interior and overloaded with cargo that would be used to refit the ship as a multipurpose ship. Raigen was doing his rounds with the Avignon's Executive Officer, First Lieutenant Jacen Edgni, a seventeen year old who had exceeded in the Imperial Academy but felt he had to follow in his father's footsteps in the RDA. While both Captain and XO were the same age, Edgni lacked the experience and callous features that made Raigen look more like he was twenty-five. They were inspecting the installation of the sleeping racks for the RDA troopers.

RDA troopers were nothing like the camouflaged InfOps and SpecOps that made up the rest of the Avignon's forces. RDATs looked more like light armored snow troopers and carried lighter versions of the E-11 rifles. InfOps, infiltration operations, were composed of camouflaged, unarmored scout snipers that were known for their insanity and their heartlessness. SpecOps, special operations, were the brute commandos that would move in after the "Infs" and secure the area for the mass waves of RDATs. The RDAT bunks looked like those on the navy mass carriers, tightly grouped together, with one for every two troopers. They were hung from the one above them and then to the wall so that they could be easily tied up against the wall for space. It was space conservation that pushed Raigen to have every RDAT also trained in a naval position so that troops could essentially transport themselves without the need of a trained group of naval troops.

Raigen ensured that one of the RDATs bolted the bunks into the wall correctly. "Good work, troopers. These will be your bunks, and some of your other troopers aren't as lean as you may be. So if you don't want these falling off the bulkhead, I suggest you do it right!" The captain patted one of the troops on the back before turning to the XO. "What do you think, Lieutenant?"

"Sir, won't this be a bit uncomfortable for the troops? I mean, a fox hole is more comfortable than this." The young officer said as he tested one of the navy blue cots by pressing his hand down on it. "We have sleeping bags with more comfort that this, Captain. I think they would rather sleep on the floor!"

"Precisely, Lieutenant, you hit the head on the nail!" Raigen said, confusing Jacen as he guided the Executive Officer out of the barracks and into the corridor, "They will hate these bunks! They will despise them, sleep will go about fine, but they well dread going to sleep. Imagine, longer shifts! They won't want to go to bed. On top of that, they will want to be deployed, simply for the comfort of using the tents and sleeping bags. About sleeping on the floor, they won't be able to. We'll have bunks hung in the middle of the rooms as well, and we will surprise the enemy with the amount of troops that will flood out of this corvette." Raigen explained as a task force of SpecOps ran ops around the ships.

"I'm sorry sir, but what are those men doing?" Jacen asked as the two officers inspected a group of techs working on the lights. A spark shot from one of the lights, and one of the techs cursed before starting to unscrew the light from the cieling for disposal.

"Ops, opportunities to improve. You see, instead of having them exercise, we give them mandatory opportunities to improve their endurance and strength. Neat, huh?" Raigen laughed and moved toward the lift that would bring him to the bridge. The lift door slid open and then closed again behind them before shooting up to the bridge level.

"Interesting, well I have been meaning to ask you about something. Miss Tara..." Jacen began in his Coruscunti accent before being cut off by the Communications Officer, Second Lieutenant Haavan Balticier. Haavan was a demolitions specialist in the Lorelian Republican Guard before defecting to the Alliance where his skills with electronics was discovered. His ability to stay calm under pressure, and his unfaltering reliability quickly had him commissioned and placed under the command of SecMar Raigen.

"Sir, message from the unknown regions near the outer rim on the comnet," Haavan said as he instructed a warrant officer at the com station to bring up the message on the small readout screen in front of Raigen.

"How did they find us? Chief Warrant Officer Damius, correct?" Raigen said as he looked at the communications worker.

"It's&Dasium, sir." The CWO seemed nervous, given the fact that this was his first day and the second in the chain of command had just shot off information that would be found only in his bio. Which meant, either Raigen had close relationship with his crew, or the warrant officer was under revue. Revue, the process of which an enlisted personnel went under investigation without his knowledge, usually for demotion or dishonorable discharge.

"You were trained in sensors correct?"

"Sir&yes, sir."

"Congratulations, you're the new Sensor Officer. Lieutenant Edgni, have Ensign Jergmond demoted to comrade and placed in our frontline infantry. Haavan, have your Petty Officer take the com station and head down to the Information officer so you can look through the database for a new petty officer. That one will be promoted to WO2." A wave of joy went through the com detachment as promotions were thrown around everywhere.

"I&Um&Yes sir, I'll have administration get right on it," Jacen turned to petty officer who sat in for communication with the information and administration office and began giving the orders of promotions and demotions.

"It's from the Vast Empire&I'm being called back to active duty&in Aegis squadron?"
