  Rising Thunder (Storm Platoon)

Slumped back into his chair, Kairo dozed in his office. It had a very slow week. With both of his platoon's squads back, he hadn't even had any exciting news to read from them, so he had busied himself with all the little work that never seemed to disappear. Sitting behind his desk had grown to be a burden for him. He wanted to be in the thick of combat again, doing what a storm trooper was meant to do. Instead, the greatest action he had seen recently had been between him and a thin piece of paper, resulting in a paper cut along his right arm. He still managed to find time to do his regular morning work out and physical training, so any new trooper to the platoon would find himself in trouble if he underestimated Kairo.

A buzzing at his desk jerked Kairo awake. Blinking a few times to focus, he hit the receive button on the communit. "You have new orders Kairo. I figured your platoon needed some action. That, and you guys haven't seen too much recently. Check your computer for the information. Oh, and you actually get to go on this one too." With that, the image of Rizzit disappeared. Well that was short. Turning to the computer terminal built into the right side of the desk, Kairo brought it out of standby and looked through his new messages. He had only been asleep for an hour, yet the inbox had received ten new messages. Deciding the others could wait until later, he opened the one from Rizzit and grinned. This should be interesting.

____________________________ One Hour Later ______________________________
                                                          Briefing Room

As the troopers filed into the room, Kairo quietly sat off to the side. He had already summarized the mission parameters for Jakireth and Garet, who now sat with their respective squads. Once every member had arrived, Kairo stood up and walked to the front of the room bowl shaped room. This briefing room was more of an auditorium, with a podium a bit offset from the focal point and a large projector stationed in the center. The room had been designed so everyone would be able to see, but it never seemed that whoever built these places took into account heights. "Greetings Storm Platoon. I trust you have taken these past few days to get plenty of rest. I'm going to make this quick, because we don't have a lot of time for this mission. The head quarters of a band of revolutionists has been found on Cepany. I'm sure most of you know that Cepany's citizens do not entirely like the Empire. A few 'freedom' fighter groups have recently been becoming more public. Intelligence and other political figures want this one completely destroyed. The reasons for this particular groups destruction is has not been released to us. Suffice it to say, we are just the gun. We aren't supposed to know what we're destroying. We are to go in quickly and destroy all evidence of them. This means two things, no one escapes. We are allowed to take prisoners, so if they surrender fine. But if they run for it, we have to give chase. We don't want a martyr symbol. Second, all computer terminal information has to be erased and destroyed along with any equipment. Any questions so far?"

"What kind of enemies are we expecting?" Riqimo from Eclipse asked.

"Think of these people as pirates, but more organized. Usually, some members may have had prior training in some military field, so some of them will put up a better fight. As for equipment and weaponry, we don't know. Expect anything. The Black Market is still alive today. Any others?" Kairo asked. There was a brief pause then he continued. "Very well. Now, we will be landing the forest about ten kilometers away from the base. This is to ensure they don't know we are coming. Now, the forests on Cepany are home to a very destructive and territorial animal, the Cephound." An image appeared on the projector. "You have each received a datapad with mission information on it. I advise you read about the Cephound. We are likely to run into a pack, since this is deep forest area. Now, we only have a limited time for this missions. The reason this is happening so fast, is because of the martyr effect we wish to avoid. Intelligence obtained information that every member of this group is going to be meeting today. So, time is of the essence. So, I will list the equipment you may bring, and then you are to report to the landing field in twenty minutes. Eclipse, you will have your regular armor, but will only be allowed to use its lighter mode. We won't to move quickly so don't put on the extra armor or weaponry. You may have the standard squad gun and any other gun you can carry easily. Anything else is up to you, but if you start to fall behind while on planet, I'll make you drop something. Paladin, standard squad armor as well and weaponry. Choose one of the two squad guns and a personal weapon. Bring what you feel is necessary. If you fall behind, I'll do the same thing to you as Eclipse. Dismissed."

Noise immediately broke out as people started to discuss the mission among squad friends. The two squads started to file out of the room at the usual speed they were used to having after a briefing. Raising his voice, Kairo said, "I'd hurry up if I were you. If you aren't on the landing field in time, then you will be left behind." The mass of people noticeably started to move faster.

Tanus walked away from the squad room and filed out of the door with the rest of the troopers. He took a sharp left down the hallway and continued down its pristine white halls until he reached a sliding door on the right side of the wall. Tanus keyed in a set of numbers with blinding speed. He walked into the first room, which was a small foyer with a side table that led directly to a bedroom - his. This was Tanus' apartment.

He went to his bedroom and opened up his small supply closet. In it, he found his weapons neatly stacked on shelves, with the rifles hanging on racks on the door. Tanus looked up and down for what he came for. Then he found his two prizes: a Bi-polar Blaster BMC-150 Carbine and his V2 DC-15s blaster pistol. He then went to his small chest and grabbed some blaster gas cartridges and put them in a small bag. Tanus closed his closet and walked back out the door and headed to the Paladin armory.

Tanus walked into the room, a black rectangle, 30 meters long and 20 meters wide, with bright fluorescent lights hanging from the ceiling. It hurt Tanus' eyes. He walked over to his locker, a tall durasteel rectangle. He opened it up and found his black Storm Commando armor, which had saved his life on more than one occasion. He pulled off his shirt, which revealed a scar from his last mission to Csilla. He pulled of his boots and pants, which revealed another scar from his stint with the old Nightstalkers.

"Jesus, I need to be more careful. Can't go dying just yet," Tanus said quietly.

Tanus then put on the black one-piece cover-all that was part one of the armor. After he got that on, he put on his chest plates, followed by leg plates and gauntlets. After nearly ten minutes, the Storm Commando armor was all set. Tanus grabbed a bandolier from his locker put it around his body, barbarian style. He inserted the cartridges into each of the slots. Then he grabbed a holster and put it around his waist, where his V2 DC-15s was to rest. He then grabbed his helmet and rifle. He had his helmet rest in the crook of his right arm. He rested the carbine on his left shoulder, and headed out the door.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tanus walked out to the shuttle field, which was a giant expanse of metal and sunlight. The roof, and open door, let the sunshine through in gigantic amounts. It reflected off of Tanus' armor like fire. Tanus looked around for his squad mates, but saw none. Tanus proceeded to sit down, set his rifle across his lap and his helmet next to him. Then he took a breath and laid his head against a wall, and closed his eyes for a while.

Wicket woke up from the beeping of his datapad. He reached over and took a look. "Oh right. I have that Storm Platoon meeting to go to." Wicket said, getting out of bed. He headed towards his closet and put on some casual clothes. On his way out he grabbed an army ration to eat on the way. He needed his energy.

When Wicket arrived in the briefing room, he saw some fellow troopers. He decided to go sit next to his squad mate Riqimo. "Hey Doc." Wicket said. "Wonder what's going on." Kairo stood up and began to explain what was happening.  Moments passed and Kairo dismissed them. All the troopers walked out the door. Kairo then reminded them that they only had a limited time to get ready and they all began to hurry.

Wicket rushed back to his condo. He only had 20 minutes to get ready and be at the shuttle field. This should be interesting. Wicket thought to himself as he donned his Eclipse squad armor. This armor is light Wicket ran around his room enjoying how fast he could run in his armor. "Ok that's enough messing around. Time is of the essence."

Wicket headed out of his condo. Wicket had a strange feeling. Do I have everything? Wicket thought, checking to make sure he had all his equipment. "Oh shit!" he yelled, noticing he did not have his DL - 54 blaster pistol. Although he did have his squad gun, he uses his personal better. He ran back to his condo and began to look for the weapon. Where the hell did I put that thing? He looked under the bed, in the closet, in the kitchen, under the sink. He could find it nowhere. "UGGGHHH!!!!" Wicket screamed. He looked at the clock and he only had seven  minutes left. He gazed down from the clock and saw the blaster on the stand under the clock. Oh, there it is. Wicket went over, grabbed the weapon and ran out the door.

Wicket ran down the streets through the army base trying to get to the shuttle field on time. The halls were filled with troopers doing daily business. I can't be late to this. After a few minutes of sprinting, the field was in sight. He only noticed a few small figures out there. He looked at his datapad. Three minutes. He slowed down his sprint to a jog, then to a walk. "I'm here!" Wicket said, out of breath. He sat down to get a quick rest. A few moments passed and the others showed up.

Luckystar walked out of the briefing room and quickly went to her quarters, which were situated at the other side of the complex. She walked towards the Paladin barracks and went to her room. She walked towards her closet and took out her armour. She quickly put on the undersuit and started piecing the armour together.

once she had attached half of the armour plates, she remebered that she needed weapons. So, half-dressed in armour, she went to the kitchen, opened a drawer, opened a safe and took out her DC-15 and blaster pistol which were neaty stacked on two of five shelves in the safe. She also took some frag grenades and flash-bangs. Just in case

She went back to her room and continued putting on the armour. All that was left to put on were her boots, her gauntles and her helmet.

Once she had put everything on, her H.U.D. flashed on and went through the ordinary disgnstics check. She walked to the door of the small apartment, made sure she hadn't forgotten anything and went outside.

She looked at her watch and saw that time was running short, so she sprinted to the location of the landing pad, twenty degrees West of her current location.

when she arrived, she noted that some were there and some were missing. She was glad she wasn't late and stood beside Wicket, waiting for the rets of the crew to join them.

Riqimo jogged off to Eclipse barracks, dodging the men, women, and droids that flow through the hallways night and day.  He accidentally pushed over a general to the floor and started running a little faster.  I hope that wasn't Fury

"Hey you there, soldier!  Halt!"

Doc started galloping full speed.  Cutting through the medical facility that he knew like the back of his hand, he managed to escape while losing a few minutes.

The barracks wasn't much farther and Riq reached it after ten minutes.  Finding the equipment closet, Riqimo changed into the customized Eclipse armor and left the heavy armor plates scattered across his bunk.  "Moon Shadow" Riqimo spoke out loud to open his voice printed footlocker.  Riq took out small carefully wrapped package and revealed a Neuronic Whip, he took it out and gave it a quick snap before clipping it onto his belt next to his Eclipse Carbine.

Running off towards the exit, he picked up a medic kit sitting on the nightstand and hoped it was fully packed with everything.

Nodding to the droid guarding the Eclipse barracks, Doc ran out once again, hoping not to be left behind.  He made just before Kairo started head count.  Whew, good timing...

Despite her calm exterior, Finch's heart was pounded. Just the thought of a new mission was getting her adrenaline pumping. During the break between missions, she had been working on her training: strength, aim, endurance, she'd covered all the facets that had come to mind. But there was a difference between training for a mission and the real thing.

Picking up her pace to a slow jog to work off some of those pre-mission jitters, she trotted down to the small apartment she called home. It held just the basics a bedroom with a small kitchen and a bathroom but was neat. Being the slightly compulsive person she was, Finch kept all her things neat and in place. This included her armor and weapons. She took her armor out, inspecting it as she put each piece into place.

It took only a short period of time to get ready for this mission. Weapons, armor, and composure, all gathered and ready to go. She pulled out the data pad, reading as she made her way quickly to the hanger. It wasn't far from her current location and she had time, so she re-read the details on the Cephounds and the mission in general.

Arriving just shortly after Tanus, or so it appeared to her, Finch settled down a few feet away from her squad mate and continued to read, ignoring the commotion of the other troopers arrival.

Rk rushed down to his quarters as fast as he could. He hasn't been on duty for a while and he couldn't wait to get out of thie sump he called 'home'. Funny, he thought he had a home, but now this raggady old metal lined room was his home.
He hurried up and hopened his closet. Fumbling through the many cases bags and other assortment of equipment he had. When he finally found a small metal case and a rolled up package.
He took the case and package over to his bed. Opening the case he took out his DC-15s pistol and holstered it into the holster that was in the case. Haven't used this in a long time. he though to himself as he pulled the belt around his waste and tightened it.
Next he opened the package and put the shiny newly sharpened knives into his pocket. All he needed to do now was put his armor on. But he decided to do that later.
He grabbed  a picture on his way out of the room and shoved it into his pocket. "I hope this pic brings me good luck again." he mumbled to himself and ran out the door.

Jelly ran to his room seeing as he little time to get ready. He grabbed a duffel and shoved ammo clips for his Blackjack Riot Suppression Rifle, along with the Rifle, his Power 5 blaster, Vibroblade, and some grenades.

Jelly fell over while trying to get his armor on hitting his head.

"Ow mother ****" Jelly said standing back up and pulling the last of his armor on. He threw some components for his rifle into the duffel.
Seeing he had everything Jelly ran from his room and off to the hanger where they where meeting.

Jelly Ran up to Doc bending down to catch his breath.

"Well all my bags are packed and I'm ready to kill some people."

While everyone was leaving the briefing room, Kairo shut down the projector and terminal. Slipping out a side door, Kairo made his way to his room which was across the base but close to the landing field. It was a nice day on Tadath, sunny with a light breeze. The breeze ruffled Kairo's hair as he made his way along the bases paths. The complex always seemed to be getting bigger and more crowded, due to the influx of more recruits and members. With all the people, it was hard to spot someone you recognized.

Once he arrived at his room, he hit the access panel, punching in the code. Stepping inside, he walked over to his bed, where he had already arranged his chosen armor and weaponry. Lying on the sheets was a dark Storm trooper Commando set of armor. It was like the Paladin squad's armor with one difference. Kairo had modified it to conceal his many knives. In total, there were ten easy to reach knives through the suit with ten others concealed for certain situations.

Slipping out of his clothes, Kairo donned the armor. It felt a bit odd and out of place on him after not being in armor for awhile. The sensation quickly went away. Strapping on a hip holster, Kairo slid his Kylon-3 into it. After attaching four extra ammo packs to the armor's utility built, he picked up his collapsible Vibropike and placed it on the belt as well. Grabbing his helmet and a brown cloak, Kairo exited the room and headed for the landing field. As he walked there, he attached the brown cloak to his armor. It was attached to the back of his shoulders and also at the waist, so it would lie behind his arms and out of the way unless he needed it.

He arrived at the landing field exactly twenty minutes after the ending of the meeting. As he arrived, a lambda class shuttle started its landing procedure. "Everyone here?" Kairo noticed Riqimo arrive just in time and sighed.

As he started a head count, the copilot of the shuttle lowered the access ramp and walked over. "First Sergeant Kairo?" he asked.

Once he was sure everyone had arrived, Kairo turned and replied, "Yes. You guys ready to go?"

"That we are. File onboard and we'll have you to Cepany."

Nodding, Kairo turned to the squad as the copilot jogged back to the shuttle. "You heard him. Get your sorry excuses for trooper asses into that shuttle." They stood there a second, not used to Kairo acting the tough commander. Kairo cocked his head and twitched his wrist, sending a knife into the ground directly in front of RK's left foot. The troopers broke into a quick paced walk across the landing field and started filing into the shuttle.

As Garet passed by, he chuckled, asking, "Was the knife necessary?"

Bending down, Kairo picked the knife out of the ground and returned it to its place in his armor. "No, but I need to see if my aim was off. It was." Kairo grinned to himself as he left Garet contemplating the meaning of what he had just said. Once everyone was on board the shuttle, Kairo closed the access ramp and walked to cockpit. The shuttle was cramped with everyone inside, but they all fit. "We're ready."

The pilot nodded and replied, "We'll to be Cepany within two hours. It will be dusk when we arrive."

Moving back into the trooper area, Kairo set down on the last seat. I never liked Cepany. Every time I go there, something always happens.

Rk ran onto the shuttle carrying his bag, it kept flopping against his side, with the content inside it hurt like hell. That's gonna leave a mark. ryan thought, trying to situate the bag to his is right. "so where is my group?" RK asked out loud.
"Right here" Said a female voice from behind him.
"Oh, hi Finch, wiat your my group?" RK said, stunned.
Finch just stood there, she looked like she had just been demoted. "Yes, Sadly you are." She said moving her way around RK.
Well this can't be get any worse... rK thought to himself as he carried the bag up the rest of the shuttle stairs, which seemed like an eternity to him. But in reality there was only four.
Rk got anboard and looked around. Doc was sitting looking at his Datapad. Wicket was fiddling with some kind of weapondry and RK was standing there wondering what to do next.
"Are you going to take a seat?" asked Tanus from his right. "Or are you going to stand there ruining my vision the whole ride." That lightened the situation a bit. The whole shuttle started laughing.
"Yea, I think I should sit down now." RK said taking his back through the aisle. He had to say excuse me atleast twice but he always hated being the lower of everyone, even though most of the people on here joined after him, he still felt like the youngest.
He finally found a seat in the back and sat down, wheras everyine else was sitting either across from someone or next to someone, RK was stuck  with nobody to talk to. He pulled out his Datapad and started typing a letter in it. Something told him this would be a long ride.

Lucky sat down between jelly bean and Tanus. she looked at them both , they were silent and no emotions showed on their faces.

'So?" She asked tentatively. "You guys nervous? What do you think will happen on this mission?"  she looked from one person to the other. Jelly Bean spoke first. "I think we will find things on there that we didn't expect."

She looked down at her weapons and started cleaning them.  Her DC-15 was in mint condition , she did maintenance on her weapons quite frequently.

She looked at Tanus, who was still staring in front of him at god-knows. "Tanus, how are you? You're quiet."

"Oh!" He looked surpised for a minute  then answered her. "Well, I was just thinking about what we will be doing on this mission."

'What do you think we will encounter on this mission?" Lucky asked him.

Both men looked at her and they started a conversation on what they would find on Cephany.

Riqimo hated shuttles, he fell out of a med evac shuttle once, not exactly a fun experience.  But that was before he joined the Stormtrooper Corps, he was more experienced now, at least that's what he told himself.

"You alright Doc?" Wicket leaned over towards Riq.

"Yeah I'm fine, just a little tired," Doc muttered as he strapped himself in a little tighter.

"I see," Wicket nodded, "So think this mission is going to be easy?"

"Hope so, it is a VE planet, so we should have the local garrison nearby if things get rough."

The two studied their data pads silently.  The cephounds appeared to be quite a beast to worry about.  The fact that they traveled in packs was a problem of its own, if they outnumbered who knows if they could beat the hounds off.

Eventually Cepany came into view through the small portside window, the trees clustered together.  Uneasy memories of Telmar raced through Riqimo's mind, the unknown sergeant of that shuttle may have saved his life then.  Now Riqimo was a sergeant... how the times had changed since then.  The shuttle will not be fired upon, the shuttle will not be fired upon the medic silently chanted to himself.

Wicket quietly interrupted, "Doc, you believe in an afterlife?"

Riqimo stared at his partner silently then muttered, "I'd settle for a life in this one."

Tanus looked forward after what he told Lucky he expected to find on Cepany. Since it was pirates, it shouldn't be too bad, he said. Lucky nodded; they both remembered what had happened on Csilla all those months ago. Tanus took out his BMC-150 and inspected it; it seemed to be in good enough condition. He took out his DC-15s as well, just to be sure that it had a full charge. When he saw that it did, he holstered it, and turned back to Lucky and Jelly.

"So, what've you two been up too lately?"

Jelly and Lucky told Tanus what they'd been up too, with excruciating detail. Tanus wasn't all that surprised by Lucky had said. They had been on so many missions together that he almost always knew what she was going to say before it even left her lips. Tanus heard some of the others talking. He peered out and saw Finch. Finch looked over, smiled and waved. Tanus saluted back and leaned back in his seat. Lucky looked over at him.

"What are you thinking about?" she asked.

Tanus looked over at her then back to the ceiling.

"Nothing really. Just thinking about the missions we've been on, and if this one'll be any different." Tanus gestured to his arm and leg. Lucky smiled at him.

"Then next time you should duck when you're getting shot at."

Tanus started chuckling, as did Jelly. Tanus just shook his head and went back to thinking, about his future, and if it would be any different...

Finch took her seat next to RK, slightly peeved at the stunned reaction she had received from him. So what if he had to sit with a girl for the duration of the trip? Wasn't going to kill him. He was just& going to have to get over it.

Finch glanced sideways at him. He typed something on his data pad, but she wasn't about to snoop around to find out what it was. She took out her own data pad and picked up where she had left off, reading the information on the mission. She'd be more at ease if she was prepared.

Trouble was, there wasn't much left to read. Setting the data pad aside as soon as she had read everything off of it, Finch folded her arms and stared off into space, thinking over what she had read. It didn't occur to her where she had been looking until RK spoke.

"Do I have something on my armor?" He asked uncomfortably. Finch snapped back to reality.

"Sorry, no," She said, looking picking up the data pad again and started to type to hide her own discomfort. It was nothing of interest, just words thrown together to make it look as if she was doing something. Even though she noticed everyone else talking to his or her partner or partners, the introverted Finch couldn't really think of any topic to discuss with the other trooper.

Wicket went over to Riqimo, his shuttle partner. Wicket was glad to have an experienced trooper as his partner. "I am so ready for this." Wicket said with glee.

"Yeahhh..." Riqimo replied with hesitation. A look of nervousness came over his face.

The headed over to the shuttle and boarded. They headed to the middle of the shuttle and took a seat. Wicket liked the window seats. He enjoyed the view.

Wicket could see the worry on Riq's face. Unlike Doc, Wicket enjoyed flights. Wicket started up a conversation with Riq. "Well if you're tired, I'll stop talking and let you get some rest." Wicket said enjoying the outside view.

When Cepany came into view, Wicket thought it a good idea to wake Doc up. "Doc we are close, time to wake up."

"I wasn't even sleeping." Doc said with a laugh. Wicket was to busy looking outside to pay attention to what Riqimo was doing.

"Do you believe in afterlife?" Wicket asked randomly.

""I'd settle for a life in this one." Riqimo replied.

"Oh." Wicket said trying to figure out what that meant. He went back to staring out the window.

Jelly abruptly ended his conversation with his teammates and pulled out his weapons. First he went to the BlackJack and started to assemble it's custom stock and his double load grenade launcher. He picked up the wireless integration pack and slid it into the electric scope. With it booted up Jelly could sync his Bionic eye with his scope up to the distance of four feet. Jelly toke out his small maintenance tools and attached the scope to the top of the rifle patting it to make sure it was secure.

Next he went to putting together his weapons harness which would hold his blaster , ammo clips, and grenades. The strap fit snuggly on the under part of the armor making sure that it couldn't snag on anything that brushed against the armor. Jelly quickly fit his assortment of Grenades into their slots being incendiary, frag, cryoban, flash bang, and smoke. Jelly clipped in his blaster and pulled out his Vibroblade and slipped it into the harness. He finished throwing the bag under his seat and then going back to his conversation with Lucky.

The large frame of Eclipse's SL stood in the door way to the trooper area of the ship, arms outstretched to either side of the door frame to keep his balance. Hanging off the waist of his EAST Suit were two Intimidator pistols, his new weapon of choice. Protruding behind and over his head was his Carbine Mark II, Eclipse's standard Squad weapon and Garet's only method of shooting for distance. He looked over the two Squads mingling in their downtime. It was amazing how chiseled the Empire's soldiers were to be this calm before a battle. He saw RK with a young woman he didn't recognize before (maybe because he had only seen Paladin under mask). Jelly bean was with two other Paladin members, talking about previous missions. Riqimo and Wicket were checking up on each other, something Garet hoped to see more of within the Squad. And then he passed eyes over Jakireth, Paladin's Leader.

He made his way over to his old comrade and shook his hand, sharing a silent "How ya doin'?" He took a seat close by and observed the troopers again, in the secret satisfaction watching their subordinates work that Leaders get. As the shuttle took off, Garet left to find a private area of his own and study for whatever needed to be studied. He worked better that way.

Kairo sat quietly in his seat, listening to the light conversations being made throughout the shuttle. It was nice to see that members from other squads were mingling. Team work was always needed between squads on dual missions. If they started to bicker or disliked each other, it could be more damaging than walking into an enemy trap.

As the trip started to feel like it would never end, Kairo decided to busy himself. Pulling out one of his knives, he started to flip it with his right hand. Toss. Catch. Toss. Catch. Alan glanced in his direction disconcertedly. "Don't worry." Kairo said, tossing the blade into the air again. "I don't normally miss." He caught it deftly with his left hand now and continued the process.

Alan turned back to talking with Kantar then, and Kairo looked around the cabin, reflexively catching the knife over and over again. Finally, a chime rang through the cabin and the pilot's voice said, "We'll be landing in ten minutes. Once we are down, get off quickly. We don't want to attract too much detection. We'll be flying in low, but you never know."

Everyone started to make sure they still had everything with them and began placing their weapons within easy reach. A few minutes later, the ship touched down on the planet. Striding across the room, Kairo hit the access panel and lowered the ramp. He motioned for the squads to disembark and secure the perimeter. Once everyone was off, he exited himself and signaled to the pilot.

As the shuttle began to lift off, Kairo called everyone over. "Alright. The base is ten kilometers to the north. We are going to split into three groups and make our way through this forest. Once all three groups have arrived, the leaders will call each other over the secure line. We'll then move into the compound from three different directions. Group one will be Jelly, Lain, and Alan. You are with me. Garet, Jak, gather your groups and head out. The revolutionist meeting should be starting in about forty minutes, so let's hustle." With that, Kairo led his group into the forest, trying not to make a sound.

"Alright, Group two will be Wicket, RK, Kantar, and Luckystar. You are with me." Garet ordered, heading of into the forest. The group sunk into the lengthening shadows of dusk.

"Group three, Riqimo, Finch, and Tanus. You are with me." Jak shrugged. "Follow me, and don't fall behind." They all nodded and ran after Jak.

Kairo moved quickly through the jungle, eyes adjusting to the increasing loss of light. They landed a little late. It's already getting to be night. After about ten minutes of running, Kairo heard a low noise and motioned for the group to stop. "Did you hear something?" Alan asked. Motioning for him to stay silent, Kairo heard it again, a low growl. A noise he had heard often enough before to identify.

"Get your weapons out." Kairo whispered. "We have a Cephound pack hunting us."

(OOC We'll be attacked by three Cephounds. Group two will run into four. Group three will run into two. Have fun. Don't kill them too quickly. )

Tanus walked away from the shuttle's landing site, BMC-150 in hand. Finch followed close behind him, her A280 in her arms, ready for anything. As they moved forward, dusk turned into the darkest night Tanus had seen in a long while. All he saw was the silhouettes of trees and the stars blinking in the night sky. As they moved into the forest, it got even darker.

Tanus took the lead again, walking through the forest, whacking bushes and undergrowth out of the way with his hand. About a kilometer into the forest, Tanus heard it: a low growl that chilled his blood to a stand still. Tanus brought out his BMC-150 out and surveyed the area. He turned and saw Finch doing the same; apparently, she had heard it too. As they both turned, he saw it: a small hunting animal, no bigger then 1.5 meters, was in their path, growling. As Tanus was about to fire, he shouted as a pair a sharp points dug into his leg, He looked down and saw that one of the beast had bitten him.

"Son of a bitch," he cursed and kicked the creature off.

As he turned his head back, he saw the other Cephound flying at him. Tanus had barely enough time to throw up his arm to bat the creature away. Tanus backed up and stood side by side with Finch, her own weapon trained on the other cephound.

"What should we do?" she asked, sounding panicked.

"The same thing we always do: shoot until their not breathing."

Tanus pulled the trigger on his BMC-150, unleashing a storm of red and white bolts from both barrels. The cephounds danced around the bolts with blinding speed, and then leapt at them. Tanus had no time to react, and was pinned to the ground, his rifle thrown away from him. Tanus was using all of his strength to not let the beast's jaws close on his face. Tanus looked over at Finch, and saw she was having the same trouble. Then Tanus reached for his blaster...

"Get your weapons out." Kairo whispered. "We have a Cephound pack hunting us."

Jelly looked around activating motion tracker to find the Cephounds.

"Sir my tracker says that there are three Cephounds circling us." Jelly said quietly over keeping under strict radio silence.

"They're getting ready to pounce get ready for close combat ." Kairo said to the group pulling out  his Kylon and drawing a dagger out in his left hand.

Jelly drew his Vibroblade and slung his Suppression rifle to his back. Swinging the blade around and bringing it in front of him in ready position.

"Here they come." Jelly said as the tracker showed one of the three blips running at him.

Simultaneously the hounds pounced on the team members. Jelly was the unfortunate one though as he was the only pinned to the ground by one of them. The hound came down on him hard knocking the breath out of him while digging its claws into his arm pinning his vibroblade under its sharp claws.

Jelly reacted quickly as it brought its jaws down to snap his neck. Jelly brought his knee up quickly into its abdomen launching it over his head. The hounds claw drug against his arm cutting it slightly.

Jelly rolled and came up and around seeing Kairo fighting with a hound and Lain digging a dagger into the side of a hound that was concentrated on Alan.

Jelly was flung to the side as the hound that he had just dispatched  slammed into him knocking him over. This time though it didn't pin his arm which he brought up slicing his vibroblade across its neck which sprayed blood on Jelly's face plate.

The hound was bodily flung off Jelly as Kairo grabbed it by the scruff of the neck and pulled its face straight into his blaster which fired and blew a hole through its face.

"Thanks."Jelly said catching his breath

"Its not over soldier." Kairo yelled as he turned to attack the other two hounds.

Jelly drug himself up and ran forward slamming into one of the hounds knocking it over. Jelly brought the blade into its side cutting through hard tendons. The hound turned quickly flinging him off and into a tree. Jelly brought himself up and dove back into the fray.

"What the hell is that?!" came the nervous voice RK over the Comm. An invisible, deep growling had been following the group since they stepped away from the landing clearance. Garet, leading the charge through the thick foliage, paid no attention and kept on running, chopping away branches ahead of him with a bayonet attached to his Carbine. Something was in the path: Garet stopped abruptly down to one knee and held up a fist, the others others followed order.

The object was a body of a dog-like animal. "Cephound?" Corporal Kantar of Paladin asked at the motionless animal. "Hang here... I'll go check," Garet announced as he inched his way towards it. It wasn't breathing, but there were no signs of a fatal wound to be seen. Garet turned his head back to the group. "It's dead." He got up to his feet again and turned to move on, but was met by the tackle of the Cephound he had just examined. Garet, in reaction, thrusted his Carbine at the animal lunging at him, the sharp bayonet sticking through the beast's chest, but knocking Garet down all the same. It clawed and bit and growled at the armor just out of reach - protecting all the parts Daimun would rather have intact, causing pandemonium to the just previously quiet environment. Screams rang off through his helmet as his group mates argued over what to do with the three others that had jumped out in ambush.  It growled even fiercer and lunged for Garet's covered face, despite the knife stuck into its vital areas. It only ceased to attack when Garet pull the trigger and its organs flew twenty feet behind it.

Garet got up to see his three mates back to back, watching the three other Cephounds circling them. Garet backed into the formation and took note as well. "You good, boss?" Wicket's voice translator chimed in as he backed up. "My nose is on fire..." Garet replied at the stench of the animals breath.

"What should we do?" Luckystar asked objectively. All five of them had their guns raised and ready. Firing now would only provoke attack, though, and the lightning fast Cephound would most certainly win. Everyone had to remain stalwart if they wished to come out of this undamaged.

"Wait for it..." Garet repeated continuously over the Comm. One of the hounds sensed a break in formation: Wicket turned his head to watch one of the others. The Sullust noticed the charge just in time, able to avoid the leaping thing; it went with consequence though as both he and Kantar, who had been standing with his back to Wicket, were knocked to the ground. The cephound flew to the outside of the circle again, leaving its two companions to pick up the now defenseless soldiers. Wicket sprawled for a better position, hoping to put up a fight against the giant dog a vain effort. However, he wasn't without his savior: Luckystar was in formation right next to where he was, and, seeing the hound charge, fired her rifle. It dodged adeptly, but by then Wicket was on his knees and he shot the hound through his front left leg, piercing through and inadvertently hitting it's back right leg as well. The hound limped off in defeat, looking for a safe place to stay away from the fight.

Finch yelped as she was thrown to the ground under the Cephound. The petite woman was pinned close to the ground, almost able to feel the spittle dripping from its mouth onto her armor and could definitely feel its claws digging into her armor at her chest where a large paw pinned her. Just as the creature moved in for the kill, the sound of shots rang out. The Cephound yelped, jumping away awkwardly and circling the group with a limp, snarling menacingly.

Grabbing her rifle, Finch felt a hand grab her arm and lift her to her feet. "Watch yourself," Jakireth warned her as he took aim at the beast again. He fired off a few shots, barely missing the beast as it dodged behind the thick trees.

Finch surveyed their situation quickly. Riquimo had managed to help Tanus free of the creature he had been grappling with, but neither of them where dead, just wounded. One was out of sight currently, blending in with the trees that surrounded them so tightly that it was almost suffocating. The other was backed against a tree, held the other two troopers while she and Jak attempted to find the other one.

A loud rustling noise sounded to her left. Finch turned just in time to see the other Cephound leaping out of the brush. She brought her rifle up, firing off a few shots in unison with her squad leader. Their shots, either combined or alone, brought the beast down.

Noticing Jelly get knocked down by one of the hounds, Kairo narrowly missed a lunge from the one he was dealing with. He was forced to keep stepping back by the hound, probably in an attempt to let the one over Jelly finish its kill. Throwing the knife in his hand downward, Kairo caught the hound in its shoulder, causing it to rear back. Taking the moment, Kairo leapt over the beast and grabbed the one on top of Jelly. Swinging it around, he blasted a hole through its head.

Jelly quickly surged to his feat and dashed past Kairo. Turning around, Kairo saw him tackle the hound Kairo had left to save Jelly. With his back turned, the hound had crept up on him. Jelly stabbed into the beast's side, but it quickly threw him off. Kairo spun around and tried to fire another shot into this hounds head, but dodged and the shot grazed its shoulder. Turning towards him, it dashed across the ground and pounced.

It was too late to pull out another dagger, but a blur from the side slammed into the hound in the middle of its leap. The form toppled onto the now still form of the hound. Rushing over, Kairo helped Jelly to his feet. A visible dent had been impacted on Jelly's right side where the beast had clawed at him. A large gash was slowly bleeding where the claws had cut through. Reaching down, Jelly jerked on the hilt of his dagger. It was deeply imbedded into the Cephounds ribs, apparently stabbing its heart. "I doubt you'll be able to get that out."

Jelly tugged again, but it didn't come lose. "Of course not." Jelly muttered. A blaster shot to their right caught them by surprise. Spinning around, they found Alan holstering his gun and helping Lain out from under a dead Cephound. Jelly grabbed his side as he and Kairo started to walk over. "Damn it. This thing is going to sting. Where is Riq when you need him."

"How are you two?" Kairo asked as they grouped together again.

"We managed. Lain just got the wind knocked out of her when the beast collapsed on top of her." Alan reported.

"You going to be able to keep up with that Jelly?" Kairo asked, indicating the gash.

"It just hurts when I run." Jelly responded jokingly. "I can manage. I've had worse."

"Alright. Let's move it. Hopefully the other groups have encountered these beasts as well." Kairo motioned for them to follow as he sprinted back into the jungle. Night had completely fallen during the battle with the Cephounds.

After another ten minutes of walking, Jelly whispered, "Wait, stop. There are people up ahead. I think we found ourselves a scout group."

Kairo nodded. "Alright, let's take them out quietly and quickly."

Lucky moved in position covering Kantar. The two remaining Cephounds were angrier than ever. They had a right to, but it didn't really look good for Lucky and the group. Much less for Wicket and Kantar .

Lucky fired her a round out of her DC-15 at the Cephound nearest to her, it dodged the bullet in a fluent bounc and Lucky swore under her breath. The other one was advancing, and growling at Wicket. She took a shot at him and managed to hit it in the shoulder. It gave  a little yelp, but continued to advance upon them. The one that Lucky had first shot at, seeing that his mate was injured came to its side and barred its teeth at them all.

As a last resort, Lucky took a frag grenade from her belt and threw it all the way to the other end of the clearing. It landed behind the Cephounds and sent both creatures flying. This gave Wicket and Kantar the chance they needed to get back on their feet and have their weapons at the ready .

Riqimo groaned at the rapidly approaching cephounds, he had sincerely hoped that the platoon wouldn't run into any of these.  So much for that wish.

"Doc, will you shoot these things!" Finch shouted over the fray.  Riqimo glanced at the ECHO rifle at his side, mentally slapping himself for not firing it already.

"Doc, Duck!" Tanus shouted and Riqimo, despite his better thinking, followed natural instinct.  He looked up.  A Cephound was flying through the air towards him, mouth dripping with steaming drool in anticipation of a dinner.

"Oh perfect," Riqimo muttered and grabbed the cephound's neck with both hands as it collided with him.  When the two hit the ground, the medic twisted the hound's neck and reached for his rifle.  Another cephound was rapidly approaching, Riqimo pulled his rifle out and fired... Instead of a glowing green laser bolt, a barely audible hum filled Doc's ears.  Riqimo glanced nervously at his right hand, his whip was clenched tightly.

"Crack!" The whip caused the hound to back away, baring its teeth.  Another hound growled to Riq's left, and he quickly snapped the whip at that hound.

"How about some help here!" Riqimo shouted over to his squad, trying to keep the sharp teeth away from his legs.  Just moments after, Tanus fired at one of the distracted hounds, causing it to fall to the ground, Jak and Finch quickly joined in while Riqimo started to grab his own rifle while flicking the whip at any hound coming too close.  One of the smarter hounds saw an advantage in Riqimo being slightly distracted and not cracking the whip as hard as he was earlier.

Riq felt a sharp tug of the cephound snatched the whip in his mouth and pulling it out of Riq's hand.  The surprise of this maneuver caused the medic to drop his rifle into the undergrowth.  Where's the rifle!?

Without any weapons to protect him against the bared teeth and sharp claws, Riqimo turned and ran, "Guys!!"

The hound gave pursuit, and Riqimo grasped a tree branch and swung himself into the tree.  Climbing a little higher, he was luckily out of reach of the hound.  Unluckily, however, he couldn't help his squad.

Garet struggled to aim his rifle at the remaining two hounds, who were now causing frenzy and disorganization in the group. Their formation was destroyed with two members down, and now the beasts had the upper hand. Lucky really did embody her callsign: she managed to hit one of the remaining two in the shoulder as it advanced on Wicket. As the hounds recuperated and circled a final time, she pulled out a grenade and flung it at the Cephounds.

"The hell are you doing!" RK yelled over the Comm. He and Garet were the closest to the impending explosion, and Garet, being on his toes, tackled his fire team leader to the ground. The close proximity explosion caused all of their ears to ring, and it was a miracle that most of the shrapnel found its way into the giant hounds. Everyone came away unscathed.

Garet pulled himself up and shook the adrenaline off. RK followed, but got to his feet yelling. "You threw that thing fifteen feet away from us!" he motioned to the explosion marks that Lucky created. "You fr-!" RK took a step forward, but Garet and Wicket both grabbed his soldiers. Wicket was screaming in Sullust at RK, while Garet was trying to put some reason into him. Kantar went to Lucky and spoke with her, Garet didn't care to listen in.

"I hope you all can run still," Garet said after RK had finally regained control. "Let's go." After a long jog in the dark, over fallen trees and undergrowth, the group stopped at a small clearing. Up ahead two speeder bikes stood silent and motionless. Two rifles were leaning up against them, and two helmets were sitting on the empty seats. Garet motioned for RK, Wicket, and Kantar to go around the clearing one way, and for himself and Lucky to go the other. "Watch for these guys, they don't expect us here."

The Paladin-Eclipse pair moved silently and hunched over. The both slid into a prone position at the sound of blaster fire and a wild yelp, and looked around for the cause. Up ahead, on their side of the clearing, two men, both holding pistols, were standing over the body of a Cephound. "Thing was injured," one of them said, "looks like something hit it in the shoulder."

The command to get up was issued, and Garet and Lucky both shot up with their rifles ready and pointed at the two men. "Freeze!" Garet yelled through his voice filter.

"Hell!" one of them yelled as he began to run off at the sight of a stormtrooper. Garet picked him off through the trees and he fell dead. The other, seeing the reaction from Garet, dropped his pistol and put his hand up.

"Kantar," Lucky spoke through the Comm, "we found 'em."

Garet chimed in and added "Go to their speeders, see what you can find."

"What are we gonna do with him?" the rather unexperienced Lucky asked.

"Turn around," Garet ordered.

"What?" Lucky asked incredulously.

"Turn around and start walking."

She did so mechanically, Garet could read the doubt in her body motion. Garet took aim, and fired a single shot through the man's chest. A high pitched, sharp breath could be heard through the Comm. "It needed to be done," Garet reassured Lucky.

The two smaller groups met at the bikes. "Nothing," RK said as they approached. "They got nothing." Garet sat on one of the bikes and looked around. "Doesn't look like it'll work," he pointed out. He looked around for anything else.

"Oooooh!" Wicket splurged in his Sullustan accent as he raised his finger. Through the tops of trees a building could be seen: their destination.

"Alright troops," Garet said, fixing his bayonet. "Move out." It wasn't long until they were waiting in the bushes just outside the base.

Kairo gave the signal for the squad to spread. Jelly stalked slowly to the right to get a good position where there was a good view over the scouting party's position.

"Ok when I give the signal kill them remember try to take them out before they get a chance to contact their base." Kairo said as he crouched down behind an overturned log.

Jelly settled down in between two trees and brought his rifle around sighting down the scope moving it to see how quickly he could line up and kill two of the scouts in case one of the others missed their mark.

"Is everybody ready?" Kairo asked over the come.

"Roger" came back the answer from the others at the same time.

"Good then Execute." Kairo ordered as he fired a single shot which pierced one of the scouts through his chest and blowing his heart matter out through the exit wound.

Lain's shot zinged out from the brush and blasted one through the shoulder but not killing him. Jelly fired a single shot which blew a gaping hole in one of the scout's head then turning instantly to fire off another shot which toke took the wounded soldier's life away. The last  solider turned and began to run but not before Alan's bolt caught him in the back blowing a decent sized hole in his chest which leaked organs and other vital matter.

"Did we get them all?" Alan asked over the comm

"Scouts have been executed." Kairo said over the comm
"We will continue towards the bases perimeter now move out and go carefully we're close now so there might be sensors or traps be on the alert squad." He continued as the squad moved along towards the lower ground.

"Sir there are a few heat sensors up ahead their set to warm heat and aren't modified for cold." Jelly reported as he made the squad stop short.

"But I have an idea permission to use a cryoban grenade." Jelly asked turning to Kairo

"Granted." Kairo answered "Where are they?"

"They have been set 3 meters apart along what looks like the perimeter and after that there's a ten meter gap to the next one." Jelly said pulling out three of the blue marked grenades handing one over to Kairo and Alan. Kairo flipped the grenade around and then looked towards the direction of the sensors.

"Problem is their faulty so we can be close enough to hit them with the grenades and effectively disable them." Jelly explained pulling the pin and looking to Kairo.

"Right on my mark One Two Three." Kairo counted throwing his grenade in a high arc on three. The three grenades hit at home with their targets  flashing as the ice like material covered and froze the sensors.

Kairo ordered the squad forward noting his motion tracker to make sure there where no contacts.

"We should be in site of the base within a few more meters just keep aware of what's going on I don't want anymore surprises." Kairo said moving forward with his blaster at ready. The squad continued to go deeper into the forest.

Ducking slightly as the sharp claws of a Cephound danced angrily over his shoulder, Jakireth rolled left on the mildly damp underbrush. Branches and leaves shook and snapped, driving up a torrent of green and brown as the squad leader spun up, leveling his A-280.

"Doc, jump!" He yelled, glancing up at the Eclipse trooper who was currently lodged in the nearest tree.

The medic stared back, silently noting the large and obviously upset beasts below.

"Jump, damnit!" Jakireth reiterated.

This time, however, he didn't wait for a reply, and his comrade needed no further provocation, seeing the close aim of a rifle.

With a cold and mechanical precision, the Gunnery Sergeant adjusted his blast settings, pulling the trigger in perfect, half second intervals.

Three shots rang out through the forest.

"Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaak!" Doc disagreed in the air, flying as gracefully as possible to the ground.

The ASL barely made it out of the branches, his motion racing against the new velocities challenged by the falling of the massive greenery.

Distracted by the seemingly random volleys that made no attempt to touch it, the Cephound spun towards Jakireth, showing a brilliant array of deadly teeth. Grinding its powerful muscles back on its haunches, the monster prepared for a lethal strike.

It was then that the Sergeant's timing came into play, smiling widely as the crackle of wood landed directly onto his opposition. The hound moaned wildly, starting to shake violently under the pressure.

Surprisingly, the raging animal refused to die. It lay immobile in the brush, trying aggressively to rid itself of the settling restriction. Despite its now futile movements, the beast had allowed the forest a welcome respite of any action.

"Alright, lets get going..." Jakireth mumbled slowly, not able to remove his eyes from the struggling figure in front of him.

Finch, noticing, grabbed his shoulder.

"Gunny, we have a base to secure."

Jakireth nodded, blinking twice. He reared up his weapon, firing five shots into the still fighting enemy. It stopped immediately. Doc managed a laugh:

"Who knew?" He inquired as they sprinted away, "The man has a heart."

*    *    *    *

Leaning against the wall of the grey-set base, Doc handed Jak a dirt-covered ComLink. The squad leader scoffed slightly, not able to rid the device completely of forest debris.

"Kairo, we're in position... give me something to do before I get bored."

The link was silent for upwards of thirty seconds before the reception crackled.

"Heh... Understood, Gunny, sit tight until we have the building surrounded."

Switching the mike off and tossing the black box back to Doc, Jakireth sighed.

"And you bastards thought it was stupid when I requested that someone bring cards."

After throwing the cryoban grenade, Kairo motioned for the group to move quickly. "We should be in site of the base within a few more meters just keep aware of what's going on I don't want anymore surprises." As they continued forward, Kairo contemplated exactly how they would complete the next part of the missions. Technically, reaching the base was supposed to be the easy part.

A cold feeling crept down Kairo's back. Great. Like I need more on my plate. Now I have a really bad feeling. It took them only a few minutes to see reach the clearing. Windows from a few buildings cast small pools of light on the grassy field. A few security guards paced back and forth around the perimeter. Kairo counted four in the direction his group would be heading.

Motioning for his squad to duck down, Kairo activated his comlink and heard the end of some statement Jak was making, ". . .before I get bored."

Grinning, Kairo said, "Alright. Time for the fun to begin. You know your orders. Lets finish this up and get back to Tadath before Happy Hour ends." Turning off his comlink, Kairo turned to his group and said, "Alright, the other two squads have their orders. We will be attacking in three prongs. Jak's group will capture the people at the meeting. Garet's will shut down communications. We are to hit the control room for security. It should be near the power building." Kairo glanced across the clearing and saw the guards had entered the right time for them to move. "Just follow along and kill anything that moves before it can make a noise."

Dashing across the field in the darkness that night offered, Kairo strode up behind someone and pulled out his knife. Reaching around the person, he pulled back and slit his throat. Signaling Jelly and Lain to drag the body off behind one of the buildings, Kairo tossed Alan a knife and pointed at a guard about to come around the corner. Catching the knife, Alan twisted and threw it hard. It glistened for a moment in the moonlight than penetrated into the guard's skull.

Continuing their trek towards the power station, Kairo signaled the group to take cover behind a small building, as a guard approached them on his patrol. "Move around the building." Kairo whispered. The group tread silently through the grass, circling the building ahead of the guard. Once on the other side, Kairo spotted what appeared to be a larger building with lines running out of it. Must be the power generator. Unfortunately, a clean expanse of nothing separated it from them, lit by a few windows from surrounding buildings. "Any ideas, besides making a run for it?" he asked.

A few moments passed as the group caught their breath, each one contemplating what they could do. Shrugging his shoulders, Kairo eased into his armor. A bead of sweat trickled down his forehead and down his nose, dripping down into the helmet. "Anyone?" Kairo asked again.

Tanus sat, crouched behind trees and silent in the night. Jak put his hand up to let them know that orders were coming in from Kairo.

"Yeah& Yeah& Got it. Jak, out"

Jak looked back to the group, the armor of the Paladins and Eclipse reflecting off of his t-visor, his gun shining in the moonlight.

"OK, folks, our objective is to sneak across the clearing there and take the main building. Once inside, we're to go into the meeting room and take anyone in there hostage. You have all of that?"

Doc, Finch and Tanus nodded in unison.

"OK, let's move."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tanus was second in line behind Jak. They moved along the grasslands silently, a wave of death to anything in their path. When they got to the base's perimeter, Tanus swung his rifle's snout around the wall to see if any pirates were waiting. When nothing came, Tanus gave the signal and they moved in. Tanus spread out to cover their flank as they moved toward the main building, a monstrous structure that stood 75 meters tall and was easily have a kilometer long. Its roof reflected to moonlight in a brilliant spectacle. Tanus would have truly admired it, if it weren't for the fact that his life was on the line.

Tanus swung his back behind a building, as did Finch, with Jak and Doc on the opposite side of them. A comm crackled into life in Tanus' ear. It was Jak.

"OK, I see two guards in front of the building. If we can get in silently, then we'll be golden. But to be save, let's take care of the guards."

"Roger that," Tanus said as he moved around Finch to the opposite side of the wall. Tanus crouched down and put his rifle against his back. As he moved out, he saw Doc across the way, pointing at the guards. Tanus nodded, and moved forward. They moved silently, and struck at the same time. A resounding SNAP was the only sound the group made as they entered the building as the guards lay dead.

Tanus brought his rifle to bear as the first of pirates turned the corner. He opened up with his carbine, dropping them both, and the squad continued. Not even twenty seconds later the alarms sounded.

"Oh great," Jak said.

At that instant, pirates came out of every doorframe. The group unloaded with their rifles, dropping the pirates like flies.
