Mission #2-Seizure of a VE supply shipment captured by pirates

Jaden stood in the hanger, watching all of the pilots scrambled to come to his attention and get ready for the next mission.  Shiric was the first one at attention, and DJ followed not too far behind her.  Raigen was the most ambitious one, he looked as if he was itching to get back in that fighter ane fight some more bloddy pirates.  Hunter stood at Jaden's side, staring down all the pilots and letting them know it was time for business.

"Alright pilots, we've just got word that pirates have taken control of one of our major supply shipments coming through the area to the Tadath system.  It is imparitive that we get in there and save our convoy and get those materials back to where they need to be.  Here's the Deal"

A holo image popped up out of a small metallic sphere in the ground, displaying the convoy and the surrounding enemy units.

"We are currently en route to this postion on a secure trade line between another system and the sytem that Tadath is located in.  Pirates didin't necessarily drag them out of hyperspace, they were waiting for them when they emerged to go to the next hyper point."

"Once we jump in, we're expecting small cruisers to be escorting the convoy, along with fighter escorts.  And, we can expect reinforcements because there are a number of small pirate bases nearby, and we're sure they'll call in their buddies for an assist."

The major objectives are
1-Get air superiority
2-Disable all large enemy cruisers
3-escort the assult transports to assist in capturing the vessels back
4-DO NOT fire on friendly vessels

"Alright pilots, suit up and get ready.  We'll be coming into realspace within the hour"

Jaden quickly saltuted his pilots, and walked out of the hanger, along with his XO Hunter.

(It's been 12 hours, I'm posting again)

"This is Captain Skysterov, we have entered realspace.  All pilots to your fighter and or bombers.  We're launching in T-minus 3 minutes.  Get your fighters going and get our there.  Your target information has already been sent to your modules on your fighters, get going."

Jaden was already in his fighter.  He spotted Hunter and Angel scrambling to theirs, they were the only ones that hadn't gotten in their fighters.

The primary and secondary power came on ever so easily, and before they knew it, the pilots were back in space again.

"Aegis leader to Wolfe Leader, what is your count on casualties?"

"we've lost half of hour 3rd flight, but we've still got 3/4 of our payload. You're status Aegis Leader"

"6 pilots ready to go, we'll cover you on our way in to disable those cruisers.  The fighters are ours." said Jaden

"Copy that Aegis Leader, Wolfe leader out, we'll start our strike run on your command"

Jaden kicked the throttle up to 75% and positioned the shields all around the fighter equally.  The targeting computer told him that the enemy force consisted of 3 modified corvettes, 2 lancer frigates, and 1 highly modified correlian corvette.  It seemed to stand out in the group, it was the color red.

"Alright, I've got targets 1,2,3 and 4 marked for your runs Wolfe Squadron.  Fire Away" said Jaden

"Thats affirmative, we have missile lock aegis leader, commencing firing on the marks"

Jaden pulled up the new targets for the pilots of aegis quite easily.  Two flights of Tie fighters and 2 flights of A-wings, a mixed squadron.  Not much to deal with for the time being.

"Aegis one to all aegis pilots, groups one and two are now on your targetting computers.  1 is the group of ties and 2 is the group of A-wings.  Lets split this up."

Once the pilots split up, it was like they actually knew what they were doing.  Hunter and Shiric followed up on Jaden's wing.  Angel and Raigen followed up on DJs.

"Nice splits group, lets get rid of these fighters and get the job done," said Jaden

The pilots flying the ties seemed to me modest with their manuevers.  Jaden could tell my their incoming vector and their flight patterns that they were no amateur pilots, they knew what they were doing.  He compensated for their actions by pushing the throttle to full and placing all sheilds at his nose.  He realized he wouldn't really need the shields, instead he transfered more power from the shields straight to his cannons.  His fighter was much quicker then theirs and he could take care of them much easier than the pilots that were flying along his side, but he would still need their help.

"Shire and Hunt, get some missile locks on those ties and throw them away from the leader, I'm going to go in and pick him off while you two chase the others around and take them down.  Quick and easy kills"

Jaden pulled into a high turn and skimmed right over top of the enemy ties.  He instantyly jammed on the rudder, spinning the fighter 180 degrees, leaving the ass end of the enemy fighters in his view.  He could see the advanced missiles from Hunter and Shirics fighters streaming towards the group, so he immediately took action by linking up the cannons and firing at the leader of the pack.

The green bolts smashed straight into the hull of the fighter.  The enemy fighters didn't have shields, so it would be easy kills.  With more more shot to the left hexagonal wing, the fighter ripped in half, sending debris in every direction.  Once the explosion triggered, the other two fighters immediately broke off, coming straight for Jaden.

"Alright Hunt and Shire, you better cover me, I'm coming around with both of these fighters on my tail, and they are shooting my shields pretty good!" yelled Jaded as the fighter lurched after every bolt hit his aft sheilds.  He put the power back into the shields and diverted them back to the aft of the fighter, hoping this would give him a little more protection.  The enemy fighters immediately dropped back after Shire and Hunt had came to Jaden's rescue.  The two fighters were immediately abolished, and Jaden's wingmates back at his side.

"Thats guys, good save their.  My shields have been hurt real bad though," said Jaden, "Looks like the theirs one more A-wing on the radar.  Once that's gone, we're going to go on a small patrol run.  I'm sure that reinforcements will be coming any minute"

(since no one else is going to write I thought i would post )

"All right guys lets do this we are missing two of our members but we can do this it's a piece of cake" DJ said into the mike addressing his group members Angel and Raigen. DJ didn't know why Templar and Spacespeed were not here but he wasn't all that informed in the matter anyway. "There are only two flights of Tie fighters and two flights of A-wings, Jaden, Shiric and Hunter are already engaging one side of the enemy and it's up us to engage the other."

Gunning his throttle to 80% DJ blasted off towards the battle with Angel and Raigen closely behind. "Raigen, Angel fire off your missiles to take out a few A-wings they are the speed of the group the Tie fighters have more power in them. We need to cripple their forces to make it an easier job for us". Two acknowledgement lights flashed meaning they got the message. Doing a barrel roll DJ turned his ship upside down and ended up facing the enemy pilot cockpit to cockpit. Doing a slight wave to the other pilot DJ fired off his blasters hitting the ship dead on and instantly destroying it.

Laughing to his own private joke DJ went to find more fighters. Finding a couple more fighters near Raigen. He saw that Raigen was having a little bit of trouble. 'And he's the one so excited to get out here and fight' DJ thought going to Raigen and lending him a hand with the two enemy fighters. 'I mean look we only have 6 capable pilots in our squad and we are flying with such experience even I am amazed'. Of course DJ would never admit that to anyone but it was true. After helping Raigen with the fighters DJ looked over to where Angel is and saw him struggling with his fighter but doing the job fairly good.

'Even Angel is doing pretty well for just transferring in the Navy. For being a trooper and fighting on land he sure knows how to handle that ship'. Watching as Angel dispatched another enemy fighter. "Good job Angel now if only Raigen can do the same then I wont need to watch any of you fighting". DJ mumbled but unfortunately Raigen heard and replied "Hey I'm just a little nervous that's all I just need to get my game on". DJ couldn't help but chuckle heartily at the comment.

Finishing up with the rest of the fighters DJ saw one more A-wing on his radar and just heard Jaden exclaim "Looks like the theirs one more A-wing on the radar.  Once that's gone, we're going to go on a small patrol run.  I'm sure that reinforcements will be coming any minute".

"Well boys you heard the man, were going to let Jaden and them finish off that last fighter. We've had our fun for now time to go onto a boring patrol and then the other fighters will come and help us in case we need help".

"Bombers, have you disabled the enemy craft yet?" said Jaden

"This is wolfe leader, we have taken care of disabling every craft that posed a threat to our force, and the ones that boarded our craft.  We need a new target, looks like one of those cruisers is planning on coming in and strafing our forces"

Jaden kept his fighters in sycronation as they came around the disabled craft and waited every second for more fighters to pop in with another cruiser.  Though Jaden hadn't realized it, their was already one in the system, but without fighter escort.

"Umm, wolfe leader, it seems that that new cruiser is acting alone.  Doesn't seem to be attacking us, looks like its attacking its own cruisers."

Jaden thought for a moment.

I wonder if our people have taken control of their ships and haven't figured out how to radio back to us, but one of the enemy's got the radio signal out to their friends

"Alright, bombers, I want a full scale strike on that cruiser.  Aegis fighters, stick with me."

"Affirmative aegis leader," said Drake, "Wolfe leader out"

Jaden switched back over to the Aegis channel.  "Alright boys, I know that cruiser has fighters on it, no doubt, it's a lancer class and those always have fighter escort.  While the bombers are striking it, we're going to go ahead and stay on patrol, but in the vacinity of that cruiser, because I know sooner or later theirs going to be fighters," said Jaden

"Um, sir, there are still two cruisers in the system, two lancers and one enemy dreadnaught.  Is there something wrong with you?" said Hunter

Jaden checked his targetting computer and all of his stystems.

"None of those id's except for the one lancer are showing up on my targetting computer.  Damned thing, I'll just have to fly blind here, give me a moment"

Jaden rolled the fighter around to the right and came across the group of Vast Empire ships that were situated in the convoy, and just as he reached the end the lancer frigate came out of nowhere, turbolasers flaring.

"Damnit!" said Jaden, transferring all of the power he had to his shields as the turbolaser fire pelted against his fighter, "Two, I thought you said they were already in the system?"

"Must have been a glitch on my targetting computer also, because I just noticed it myself." said Hunter, "Something glitching our systems?"

Replys came back from all of the squadron members.  Apparently, all of their systems had been screwed up unknowingly, and they had been been tricked into thinking things were where they weren't.

"Alright, fighters, form up.  Bombers, strike that cruiser and take her down.  It's apparently jamming all of our systems and we can't lock onto jack.  Anyone see any fighters that I can't find?"

"Sir," said Wolfe Squadron leader, "There are fighters everywhere, and we can't even get close to that cruiser,"

Jaden thought for a moment, and then responded, "Alright, all aegis pilots, we're going to fly blind here.  You find a fighter, you take him without a lock or anything.  We may be going oldschool, but we can get the job done.  Use those little eyes of yours and take down those fighters with your keen senses and just rely on the force.  Make sure we keep them away from the bombers most of all"

"This is Wolfe Squadron leader," said Drake, "We're starting our run on the unidentified cruiser.  Seems to be a lancer/nebulon class frigate of somekind, but we haven't figured that out yet.  Shields are at 50%, we should be able to take her down in no problem.  Here we go!"

Jaden watched as the bombers gracefully swooped in and unloaded their salvos, completely obliterating the enemy cruiser.  Shields went down in a flash, and the ship basically imploded.  The combustion could be seen coming from inside the ship.  The internal engine housings were probably crippled, causing the power system throughout the ship to self destruct.

Amazing...

Just as the cruiser exploded, Jaden's targetting computer was back to normal.

"Alrighty pilots, looks like we're back in business.  Shire, on my wing along with Hunger.  DJ and Raigen, get to business on that other group of ties," said Jaden

The fighter picked up speed faster than Jaden had ever flown before.  It had been his own choice to use his handed down Hornet Interceptor, but yet it was a risky choice at that.  He stuck out like a sore thumb in the middle of the dogfight, and he was the one the enemy fighters could easily track and take down due to his flight signature.  Jaden rolled the fighter to the right as his group came up on the enemy tie fighters.

"Let em rip," said Jaden as he got a target lock on the fighter.  He pressed and held the trigger, letting the lasers bolts fly out of the fighter and quickly stream towards the group of enemy ties.  With a few shots, he took out one fighter, sending him spiraling into the black vaccuum of space, not getting enough time to hit his ejector.  The other fighters had taken some hits, and DJ and Shiric easily latched on and were chasing their kills down.  It was vengence.

"Alright Aegis, nice job.  Lets clean this up and get our convoy back.

What was left of the enemy convoy ships that hadn't been destroyed or captured was retreating ever so quickly.  Aegis squadron would not let them pass and go back to their scavenging ways, as they were pirates of course.  They would track each of them down by their ship ID's, even if they managed to escape.  Hunt them down to the origin of where their ships came from, find out where they resided, and end up killing their entire familys, and them, if they even had families.

***
Within 10 minutes, the rest of the fighters had either gone back to their ships, or had been destroyed.  2 of the major cruisers had hypered out, but the other two had been captured.  It wasn't even close to a sad thought to think that they would be interogated to an vivious extent, and then be killed after their questioning.  For the acts they had committed in distrupting the business of the Vast Empire, they would taste the vengence that the small faction had to offer.

Once back on the ISD Debilitator, the pilots had nearly 32 hours before their next mission would start.  Breifing would be very extensive as their last mission would be their greatest assault against the pirates yet.

Jaden and the rest of the pilots sat in the de-briefing room, patiently awaiting their next orders from Captain Mikael Skysterov.  Jaden felt a bit anxious to get back in the fighter and kill more of the scum that wandered the galaxy, pirates.

The Captain no more walked into the room before he started cursing.  Sweat was running down his blodd red face and his veins were exploding out of his arms.  His anger could be seen glowing off of his body as he stepped into the room and slammed the door.

He stepped up to the podium in front of all the pilots, took a deep breath, and shuffled the papers in front of him.  Jaden could see the discouraged look in his eyes and already knew what he was going to say.

"Pilots, I've just got word of some very bad information," said the commander, "Once you jumped out of the system you were previously in, the rest of our taskforce was attacked by a much larger force then we could ever imagine to come from the pirates.  We don't have any understanding of why the other craft in taskforce didn't hyper out at the same time we did, but the gist of it is that every single ship is no longer in our control.

Voices and shrieks sprang out across the room.  Jaden looked to the left and saw a women with her hands over her eyes.  Once they moved, he could see the tears stream down and drip onto the black paneled floor.  She was strong, but not enough for the news she had just recieved.

"More extensive reports are coming soon, but right now, our taskforce has been shut down, and we will not be able to participate in our last mission," said the Captain, "But, we do have some news about the large enemy force, or should I say their 'Counterforce'' against our taskforce"

He turned around and looked at one of the lieutenants that had been staring at him the entire time and ordered him off the floor to retrieve him some more information.  A few seconds later, the lieutenant was back with the information.

"Ah, here it is.  Yes, we've got that information about the enemy force," he said in a stern voice, "It's much, much larger then our previous taskforce; we had not a chance of survival against them.  From our long range readings, from what they have captured from us and what they already have...well, just let me read the information."

The Captain remained in his position, sweat still running off of his face and breathing hard.

"We have now aquired the information on the enemy taskforce.  Mainly, they've got Two Interdictor class cruisers, 3 Nebulon B-Frigates, Two Full Squadrons of A-wings, One full Squadron of X-wings, One Full Squadron of Gunboats, Our Lancer Frigate Diabolical Array, our Carrack Cruiser Blitzkrieg, and our Dreadnaught Enforcer.  They all seem to have all systems back up to full."

He stood there for a second, scanning the entire room of pilots.

"Wolfe and Aegis Squadrons, you did your best out there.  But, both of your Squadrons will be going back out to deal with the threat.  We're going to counter attack once we get our taskforce built back up and get all of you pilots up to speed."

And with that, the Captain saluted.  All of the pilots and officers in the room stood, and saltuted him back.  Jaden stepped out of the room before all of the pilots manged to get out.  But, once he stepped out, he felt a great pain in his back.

"I'm getting too old for things like this," said Jaden.  He thought to himself about how old he was getting.  He had to be in his early 30's by now; checking his datapad he found the exact age.  32.  He had been enlisted in the Vast Empire for nearly 11 years now, and it was all starting to take a toll on him.  He still amazed himself with how he had managed to still be alive.

After the small ponder, Jaden made his way back to his office.  More paperwork was lying on the desk, awaiting his attention.  Another coffee was sitting on his desk, steam rising ever so quickly from the whole in the top.

"Ah, another day of work"
