Jack and his bomber were taking some serious damage over the capital city of the planet. Ground-to-air missles were flying everywhere; turbolasers and other ground-based weapon emplacements were also buzzing with activity.

Jack got ready for another pass over the city and dropped a few sonic bombs onto the ground near the edge of the city, preventing many citizens from fleeing.

"This battle keeps getting better and better!" Jack yelled into his comm.

"Don't have that victory dance too soon, Jack," Shazam said. "You still are taking heavy damage. It's just like our first mission at Thyferra."

Jack remembered his first mission through all of what had happened then, now, and everything in between. Jack got ready to speak into his comlink.

"Hey, Shazam," Jack began, "You think one of those hills might happen to be a pre-Clone Wars bulk cruiser?"

"Doubt that, Jack."

"Hey, Nazgul Squadron," Willtconq began from the other side of the planet, "How are things at the capital? We're doing pretty good over here, except we're taking some hits."

"Same here, Will," Jack said. "Any chance one of you guys could help out over here?"

"Doubt that, Jack," Laguna broke in. "Remember, they are on the other side of the planet."

"I almost forgot," Jack answered.

There was some akward silence for a few moments. That is, minus the bombs, torpedoes, turbolasers, ion cannons, and so on.

Finally, Shazam's voice broke all the comlink silence with a message.

"It's time to inflict some serious damage. Nazgul Squadron, prepare to fire at will. Don't leave any buildings standing with more than two levels intact."

(You guys need to edit those post.  Will only warned us of incoming fighters...  He is on the otherside of the planet...)

Shazam had been mildly calm when running attacks on the small shield generator.  Obviously, this would not just stop the city completly, reguarless of whatever damage something like 'no shield' could do.  NO, this was just a task to begin the opperation.

Now, Shazam had warned earlier on that if split into small groups, they could be knocked out very easilly, it was only a matter of a larger group taking them down one at a time.  Shazam's group had little to no trouble at all taking down the shield generator they had put themselves in charge of, an AA turret was fidgeting slightly, firing at random times and keeping to itself for the most part.  However, Jack's group did have some trouble.

Where the defenses to the bridge generator had been week and very isolated, the single turrent over fifty yards from the actual building, this generator had three guardian turrets and a strong shield.  If looking from the bridge right at the capital, this small mechanical energy depot was on the upper right hand side, behind the city from that point of view.

It didn't take long to figure out the way the defense worked though, especially after one of the Viper pilots veered off course to avoid a missle from one of the anti-air units.  One of the young imperials had noticed the heads all seemed to swivel together, so before you knew it, there were two or more decoys running around, attempting to confuse the turrets as the main team took out the actual generator.

The final building had almost no defenses and was very remote, on the far edge of the forest that was on the opposite side of the capital, not the side with the bridge in other words.  And considering you had to cross that mote of a river surrounding the capital, it was a pretty good distance away.  Darius and a few others made short work of it and made thier way to regroup before the immense flight of enemies were within targeting range of the other groups.

Mostly ties, this group seemed to be heavilly armed and sworn to some kind of contract to kill, the ultimate goal was in thier immediate future, and they wanted it just then.  They were coming from the opposite side from which Nazgul and its friends had arrived, but they were still a good distance.

Shazam had checked his radar several times to make sure what type of force he would be fighting, and he had to admit, he really didn't wanna fight these guys.  A simple glance at the numbers would tell you that they were almost even, but then looking at the ships, if the imperials wanted to keep any missles for the capital, they would have to keep them while trying to stay alive...  So...

Since Nazgul 1 didn't like the numbers, they would have to get the job done as quickly as possible.  No doubt they would eventually have to engange them, but they could stall and do what damage was possible in that time.  And it appeared the main shield was out and there were legions of men prepared to fight in the forest within the city below.  The trees, now being ravaged by the wind that continued to pick up, were throwing branches and losing leaves in every which way.  The men in the lines tried to keep as still as posible while being addressed by a commanding officer.

Screw that, Shazam thought, now officially ordering the city to be leveled.  The gate was heavilly guarded, but there were absolutely no defenses on the inside.  Seriously, could they possibly think there was no way to defeat the shield.  They left thier generators out in the open, and thier internal supply couldn't be that great, because they probably hadn't been expecting anything more than some serious skirmishes.  Oh well...

The imperials had regrouped now, flying at full speed to pick up time and make sure they could get as much done as humanly possible in the alloted time.  They really needed to move quickly, a game of cat and mouse wasn't quite what Shazam had expected when he arrived...

(Lets read those post before hand, and try to focus on the bombing of the city, but great job getting out and posting today, les keep it goin...)

(Just call me Jaden)

The decoy fighters were ripped apart by the missles that were launched at them, instead of the bombers.  All power conduits had been taken out in the area, leaving the city entirely defenseless.

Citizens and officers were scrambling to evacuate as the bombers poured out their loads down onto the city, leveling everything in site.  The same reports came back from Kaph Squadron,  the shields were down, and they had began bombarding the city.

Everything was going swell, but from the distance, Dirk spotted some more fighters.  He couldn't distinguish them with his naked eye of being friendly or foe.  Jaden brought up his targeting computer, and checked the ships identification codes.  They had no codes at all.

"Everyone be on alert, we have incoming unknown fighters.  Be cautious, and engage on point of any sign of hostility." Jaden shouted through the radio.

Everyone announced their recognition of the oncoming fighters, but kept most of their attention on the bombing run.  The city was falling fastly, only about half of the structures remained.

The unknown fighters formed up behind Shazam's group that was making their run on the outskirts of the large capital.  Shazam qued the radio.

"Unknown fighters, state your position," commanded Shazam.

No response came back.

Shazam tried again.  There was no response.

"I would hate to assume that their radios are broken," Shazam said across the Nazgul secured radio line."

"Viper squadrons, and Venom squadrons, were are requesting your assistance.  Please form on our wing, and deal with these straglers that we have aquired.

"Affirmative," a Viper pilot responded.

Just as the call came back, the unknown pilots came back with a reply.  A barrage of laser fire.

Shazam, Jack, and Art broke off of their bombing formation, just as Viper and Venom caught up with the formation.  They had lost a few fighters, but were still able to assist.

(Shall we deal some damage upon the city?)

Shazam, as calm as he'd attempted to be when fired upon, was now free of any serenity, his hushed and unyielding mindset suddenly alert with every possible intrusion into his carefully molded defense mechanism.

OH, they'd run into the wrong group, thought he, more angry at the deliberate attack on his vacation mission, so they'd attack back.

Your usual awesome bomber was capable of many things, not only rigid defenses under heavy fire and impossible odds but also movement.  Not normal movement though, swift and graceful movement that could only fully be appreciated after flying such a craft for a while.  Yes, this, Shazam could surely take a hold of, wield it, and attack with the utmost certainty of what he was brooding.

The fine firey whisp of laser stung the air, a lightning zap whip stung the air for a few moments after thier innitial commencement.

"Everyone, we've got enemies on our six, get 'em off, it looks like thier equipped with a little more than cannons," he shouted into the com, a warrning beep initiating.  Oh no, this could be bad, "BREAK, MISSLE BREAK" he screamed.  His own hands tugged the controls sideways, the un-friendly gave a fleeting glance at the missles croocked flight path before trying another target.

Jack had pulled up hard, some serious G's hitting him and what a brave manuver to do for a young XO, but he did it all the same, managing to avoid the threat with a long line of jet stream behind him.

Art, however, seemed very comfortable in this particular situation, he gave a simple barrel roll and a quick tap to his lift controls for good measure and the mocking machinery within his craft fell sheepishly silent, the ensign scoffing at his equipment.  Surely, this threat was greater than that, stronger and faster, more surely to destory him than to destroy itself...

"This is Darius, forming up on Jaden's wing..." the recruit announced, a certain reverence in his voice after seeing the brave evasion of the three men.  The pilot he'd just formed up on though, was suddenly tumbling through the air, avoiding a head on collision with a craft that appeared to have been modified from that of the original Tie interceptor.  The tips of its wings were no longer razor sharp, but curved and soft, dull reverberations of the wing patting the fighter as it carried on past the imperial issue schimitar were almost sympathetic.

Darius seemed keen to show something of himself though, and the squadrons of Viper and Venom were on them coming out of a full loop, suddenly aware of the threat the small group posessed.  They'd hadn't just modified them, they'd completely muscled them, toned them and prepared them for a single battle.  The unknowns looked immaculate in everywhere, never flown besides maybe a test flight or two at which point they were probably tuned right back up.  The illusion of grand majesty Shazam had originally begun to think about the people he'd seen strolling around the streets, suddenly seemed over-rated.  These pilots weren't that good...

Darius was suddenly with Dirk, the two of them letting off burst of fire into the shields of a heavilly armored enemy, Viper adding to the fire power with awesome accuracy.  This was an easy mission, and if would remain that way, the supporting groups would see to that...  And for that, the group suddenly gained a point in thier favor, after only seconds of power bantering the shields, the floating craft fell to the unforgiving flawless technique the imperials showed in thier menacing dismissal.

Yes, these were supperior weapons, but the weapon was only as good as the one pushing the trigger...

Shazam and Art sat in front of five, Jack placed in between the two several feet back while two others cover them, forming the custom dots you see on a regular dice.  They were above the capitol, the shield was down and those who had been running and jumping joyously at the excitement of another shopping day, had despondently made thier way for shelter from the rain, no invisible umbrella was there to protect them from the atmosphere and its tools of nature.

The second he'd been fired upon, Shazam's attitude had become increasingly agonizing, every waking moment of evading and then the exact opposite was making him weary.

Super-weapons didn't work as well as originally thought, the group of unknowns, as smug as they'd been, were trying to re-group and try a couple of quick destructive manuvers then try to pick up what they had left and make haste.  Viper five made very short work of whatever plan they had though, boaring down on them with as much pressure as possible.

It was interesting though, the enemy, or the rebel group Shazam had decided to think of them as, had revealed something.  They were spending lots of money, they were, in fact, wasting it.  Some one was really spoiling them, the type of highly equipped, and if properly used, dangerous ships launched against them were very expensive.  There was more going on here, and to Shazam it involved more than just politics.  The people, unhappy about the weather, and mortified, beligerent fear rising within them was still only a minor mishap.  Tomarrow, reguardless of whatever real-life threat appeared to be there, could only be a mirage and they would be happy again.  Yes, these people where spoiled, and they were not wise.  It would be there downfall...

The fighters were gone, the tails of each fixed between thier legs, and groups with thier heavy weapons and beautifully sweet engine noise, they were cowards.  Back to the attack run, they'd only dealt minor damage to the defenses monotoring the outside of the walls, not much more would have to be done to ensure thier safety upon entering the castle of riches...

(Have fun describing things, it makes it more filling...)

(Easy enough)

The bombers flew in a V formation, peacefully.  All of the fighters had been cleared out, but they couldn't take the chance of any more of them being spawned.  They shifted their attack towards the naval base, attempting to cripple all, or some of their defenses.

6 or 7 frigates were slowly lifting off of the planets surface, attempting to make an escape.  Not only would they run into the blockade outside of the city, but they would have to deal with the squadrons of Viper and Venom, and maybe a few bombs.

"Nazgul Squadron, a few of you flyboys try and hit those Frigates, and a few of you stay on the city.  We need to keep the pressure on." Shazam's voice rang through the radio system.

Affirmatives came back all through.  The attack would begin.

Jack went after the frigates, followed by Dirk and Darius.  Delirium flew with Jaden, and Shazam and Art paired up.

Jack, Dirk, and Darius would hit the frigates, and would be covered by Venom Squadron.  Jaden and Delirium would bomb the major buildings, while Jack and Art hit anything else.

"Wait Shaz, leave a few of those hangers intact.  If we get damaged, there is no way for us off of this planet,  except for in one of their fighters."

"Alright, gotcha." Shazam replied back.

The battle had begun.

Jack caught sight of the frigates. Seven frigates to destroy, Jack thought. This was going to get good.

Breaking off from his attack vector on the city, he sped toward the frigates. Frigate number one, as Jack registered it, was close to entering the outer atmosphere of the planet. He had to take it out now.

Recalling an old manuever from his time in the Auroran Defense Fleet, which he and his fellow squadronmates executed, was a strategy to destroy the engines and cripple the ship as badly as possible.

If this manuever could work, the battle would be close to an Imperial victory.

Jack put his fighter straight up as he sped toward the cruiser. Uglies, starfighters cobbled together from other starfighter parts, were also racing toward the frigate, but to defend it. Jack hoped this manuever would work.

"Nazgul Squadron," Jack began, "If you are aiming for the frigates, aim for their engines. Blow them clear off. But first, I need cover. I got a squadron and a half of uglies speeding towards me. Some are TIE-Wings, other like the ones made up of TIE Fighter cockpits and X-Wing wings, although I forget the name. Anyhow, blast 'em with all you got."

"Got it!" someone replied, although the explosions around Jack made it hard to determine who had said it.

Jack started firing at the cruiser's engines. Jack fired a bomb or two at the rear of the cruiser every so often. One engine apparently shut down due to damage, another one badly hit.

That frigate was done for. Jack moved on to the next. But now the uglies blocked his path.

**************************************************

"I have you now," one of the uglies pilots said.

Suddenly, a little light in his cockpit flashed on and off. The ship exploded into a million pieces. Many uglies followed into his flaming death.

**************************************************

"Let's get this party started!" Jack yelled through the comlink.

(Nice)

The glow from the explosions of all the fighters and frigate was a great site to see while Jaden flew his bomber, and the bombs spilled out onto the large city.  The civilians were all almost evacuated out of the city, and were gathering in convoys, attempting to escape even further into the depths of the planet.

Jack and his crew hit the frigates hard.  3 bombers taking on 7 frigates was just plain suicide.  The turbolasers should have ripped them apart, but they were excellent pilots.  With all of the fighters now gone, and the rest fleeing, the city would easily fall.

Shazam and Art had his all of the office and Administration buildings in the entire city.  The government was gone, and most of the defenses had been crushed.  They couldn't work anyway, there was no power.

3 Frigates remained.  Jack and his boys put a few last bombs into the frigates just before they left the atmosphere, and they headed back for the surface.  The frigates would be destroyed by the blockade from right outside the planets atmosphere.

Jack, Dirk, and Darius formed up in the formation in front of Jaden and Delirium, right behind Shazam and Art.  They were back in the peaceful V, destroying the rest of the city.

The call came back from the blockade, they hit the frigates pretty hard, and destroyed them.  The rescue plan was crushed, except for the few ground forces moving out.  The enemy airbase was gone, the entire city lay in rubble.

Arturus looked down over the city, smoke and ash rising from the rubble of what was only an hour ago a beautiful, modern city.  There was almost something surreal about the image, the sheer distruction they had wreaked upon the city with the new bombers was startingly.  Arturus descended down towards the rubble, falling a hundred meters below the formation.  He navigated around the bombed out buildings and piles of rubble as he flew down one of the streets.  In his mind he saw clouded images of something similar from his memory but he couldn't place it.

"Art you alright?"  Shazam called over the squadron frequency.  Arturus blinked away the images and pulled up towards the formation.

"I'm fine, just taking a closer look at our handiwork.  Looks like we did a thorough job."  He replied, a hint of sarcasm in his voice, as he moved his bomber slowly back into formation.  Something is wrong here.  He thought to himself as the squadron made their way up towards space for their return home.  He shooks the thoughts out of his mind and tighened up in formation.

(OOC: Sorry it is short, waiting for our next assignment or is that the end of the mission?)

(Finishing up our part...)

Amonst the broken doors and windows, the rubble and brimstone still smoking from the recent attack, something moved...  People, now homeless, were scattered, hiding under lean-tos and figuring out what next...  The spire high in the sky had been shattered, and the bridge connecting the city to its freedom, demolished.  So, this thing, moving, so inconspicuous, so impossibly there, that the people around simply didn't notice and continued to worry about themselves.

Two large doors, concealed beneath a layer of cement, apppeared quite suddenly, but even the tanks went unnoticed for a few moments.

"Nazgul 1, we've got a problem, readings say we arn't done," said Grey, a man flying escort in Venom.  Shazam glanced down at his radar, squares that had canvased the map suddenly decreased and zoned in on several small moving craft.

"We're turning back, they've got more to fight with than were leading on, I think everyone was waiting for something," Shazam replied.  The bomber swung around, whisping the mist around it that had risen off the mote and gathered in the sky, the wind settled down and then roared with menace.

In the city, under the two large doors, was a long narrow ramp, lamps came to life, revealing an array of ground vehicles and anti-air machinery, that machinery was now moving up the ramp.  The tanks had come out first, rambing over the debris and making thier way towards the forested area that met the bridge, while the anti-air secured itself around them.  Men, women, and children scattered around the buzzing and humming engines, marveled at thier power and movement, but did not go near them.  About seven blocks away, two more doors swung open into a wide square where the traffic was completely stopped and several flying vehicles had come to rest and the inhabitants had run for cover from the imperials.

"Everyone, keep sharp, I think they have a holy hell..."  Shazam went off when he noticed that twelve of the targets were moving very fast, beginning to circle the other targeted areas.  Fighters...

"Hey man, what's going on up there?" the voice of Shazam's bombedeer chirped up.  Shazam dismissed it with a wave of his hand and the sound of his hands at the controls and radar system, trying to get some kind of idea of what he might be moving against.

"We're going to be low and fast, try to take out those tanks before handling the fighters, my god they are fast," Shazam said, his radar re-tracking them at positions miles away from the last.

Viper and Venom accompanied Nazgul on its sides, ensuring no spare fire landed a hit on the bombers, the pilots of the schimitars a little tense at the moment.

"Guys, do not get caught against a building, your dead if you get lost in the smoke or have to move to adjust...  Don't do it, it'll give the AAs enough time to paint you and fire..."  Art warned, but the lights were beginning to blink on and off and several alarms howled excitedly.

"Missle break, missle break," Shazam said in a submissive tone, he didn't want to alarm his men and put them off.  All of the anti-air had moved away from the tanks and created a perimitar around them, Viper had slung off on the left side to engange of the five and Venom to the right.  Nazgul split and journeyed in between the crumbling buildings around them, the sirens eventually died with the impact of the missle against the side of building.  The group weaved back together though and turned a tight corner in between two four mangled skyscrapers and twirled with delight as they tanks were found facing the opposite way.  A small garrison of troopers was with them, walking through the streets, discouraging anyone from getting too close.

Jack flew very sharp and close to the building, and managed to get the first shots in, and they burned the air around them until crushing the armed guards of the tanks.  Several burn marks hissed from the sides of the tanks, now fully alert of the immediate threat.  Those that had survived Jack were pummelled by an array of laser fire, and the tanks were immedietly dismissed by the realization that these were in fact bombers attack thing.  The craft dropped bomblets into the center of the circular formation the rebel group had created, the imperials were pulling upwards to avoid the after math of thier own power, below the land had turned to fire...

"We've got fighters moving in from the right, Shazam,' mentioned Jaden.  He was sitting pretty comfortably in the right shoulder behind Jack and a few others, Darius was wide awake, eyes verting from one side to another as wingman.  Shazam climbed higher into the sky, Viper and Venom had been pretty ruthless against the AA and left only two.

"Men, there are no longer any santions on those missles, use them with your best judgement, because this is the end of the battle and we arn't coming back," Nazgul 1 demagogued.  "And the enemy is upon us..."

Apparently, the government was having fun with thier money, thought Shazam, instantly recognizing the StarViper assault fighter.  The small propulsion engines on the wing made it extremely mobile and very quick, he knew this all to well, but he also knew that they didn't last very long in battles...

The two groups were meeting high in the sky now, several thousand feet about the city and its towers, the cool cloudy air surrounded them.  The enemy group stayed in its V formation as it moved towards them, and they did not wait until they were in firing range to start some crap...  Basterds, thought Shazam, as they all aimed for a single venom pilot who's sheilds were instantly disintegrated no matter where he moved.

Shazam pushed the throttle to full, hoping to get into firing range a little faster.  "Guys, spread out for me, major spread, we're using those remaing missles now..." he ordered.  Instead of some letter or fancy layer formation, the VE pilots went into a long curved line.  The StarVipers sped up as well, hoping to get a few hits before running throught the blockade of imperials.

"Missle lock," sounded Shazam, and fired just before reaching the enemy group.  A loud whissle could be heard in the skies from the streets of the city below and several explosions as well as the sight of flames in the middle of the dark afternoon.

The rebel group surely couldn't have expected to have gone through untouched, this they knew, but the missles had been a bit of a surprise.  And so the two opposing sides moved through eachother, some of the VE pilots already turned around.  Jack was really on today though, he was moving after an enemy moving east away from the city while Darius and Dirk moved behind another going towards the capital.  Art stuck to Shazams wing as the two of them looped upwards and then barrled to find themselves sitting behind another target.

Viper and Venom moved just as quickly, splitting into groups of two or three, they followed suit and began launching thier own brand of attack.  Shazam had fired his last missle and done serious damage to the fighter he was pursuing, when Art moved up and did the exact same thing, plastering it to the side of the multi-role craft.  Horrible pilots not to be able to get away from something like a bomber's missle, figured Shazam.  Jack was now accompanied by Delerium and continued to fire with his cannons although he had two missles remaining, convinced that his angle would be to the advantage of his opponet and the missle would be wasted.  His new wingman was not so patient though and swung to the inside of Jack and fired a missle, nearly hitting his lead.

Jack rolled upwards and around the missle until he was on the inside of his Wingman once again, pretty agrivated that he almost got killed by one of his own men.  But the missle stuck and the shieldless craft was hit mighty hard by it, causing the upper right hand thruster to go out completely as well as doing some minor damage to the others.  Now Jack was confident he would have a clean shot and let loose one of his own missles...

"This is Venom reporting the skies to be freindly once again, and requesting permission to go take out those two remaining AA's," asked a flight leader, anxious to get the job done and go home.  Indeed, the use of missles had shorted the battle beatifully and they had lost no men, a job well done.  Shazam whipped around until he found he was pointing towards the Devestator and making his way towards the stardestroyer.

"Permission granted, Viper, would you please escort us..."  said Nazgul 1, charred buildings behind him and flying, flaming craft dropping from the sky into the river below him.  Today was a good day, and now he could say Nazgul had done well...

"This is Nazgul 1-1, mission accomplished.  We're on our way home now..."

(That should do it for us, great job guys...  Cheers to ye!"

It was a long ride back to the Devestator.  Jaden switched seats with his bomber, and let him fly the rest of the way back.  After arrival at the hanger, everyone walked back into the mess hall.

Kaph Squadron was still on the ground, completing their objectives, but Nazgul was finished.  After debriefing, the squadron was split up again, and everyone left for a nap.

"Ahh, nice to see you again Fonze," Jaden sputtered as he walked into his room.  The droid greeted him with a few beeps, and spun around wildly.  It had really been a while, with the last missions that Jaden flew, and his loss of an arm.

Jaden walked over to a large metallic cabinet, and pulled out some of the tools he used to work on his arm while he was off-duty.  By just pressing one button, his whole exoskeleton around the arm came off, and the wires and mechanical things were seen.

Laguna adjusted the joints so that his arm would move better, and tweaked up the finger movements, so that they wouldn't jam up.  After repairing his arm, he put the tools away, and plopped down on the bed.

Thoughts of the battles flew through, along with all of the things that had happened to him since he joined the Vast Empire.  He remembered back to the time when he was at the dance, with a young women

"What was her name?"  Jaden asked himself.  He pondered for a moment, running throught the back of his mind.

"Jenny!" he yelled aloud.  "Thats her name.  Maybe I should look her up again sometime, just maybe."

(Hope this doesn't mess with your master plan, Will)

Kazim scowled at the thought of being so easilly overtaken, after setting up such fancy networking and shielding, the city was sacked far to easilly.

"Sir, the consul is ready to see you," said a young woman, perfectly shaped wth dark hair and round eyes.  Kazim rubbed his chin indignantly, he was beginning to confim his idea of the man they called 'Consul'.  Mensa was a man of superier intellect, high aspirations, and the ability to beleive in the underdog, reguardless of how messed up the odds were.  His men had come to understand and respect that in thier leader, but some of the higher ranking officers had some slight distrust.  Kazim, wasn't actually the one creating all the accusations or coming up with conspiracy therories, but that didn't mean he hadn't heard them or looked into them for good measure.

After for standing a few moments, the officer strode into the office, loud booms could be heard from above and the water in the crystal glass on the reception desk wavered and rippled at every sound.

"Sir, the capital has been breached and we are ill-equipped... We don't have the fire power to defeat them..."  Kazim busted out as soon as he had entered the room, his hands were outstretched as if this guesture might get the notion of utter defeat in the consuls head.

"So you have lost the capital?" a tall, and now very pale man asked, he had turned to face Kazim.  The officer nodded his head, his hands together now, in an attempt to hold himself together, he was having a remarkably hard time standing in the presence of the consul.

A bright, but seemingly distant joy was still in his eyes, and Kazim ecame even more uncomfortable under his gaze.  "Surelly, there must be a way to save it.  We have such..." he paused, trying to find the right word," expedentiary," he found," defense forces.  All hidden I beleive?"  His head tilted and his eyes narrowed, demanding a 'yes'.  Kazim nodded curtly and continued on-

"Sir, those are not nearly substantial enough to prevent the destruction of the city.  If the imperials have any trouble, they'll send a more powerful force at greater speeds and deal out a far more effective dose against us...  They're punishing us..."  Kazim shuddered.

The consul turned and went back behind his desk to his tall chair and sat, the back of it facing Kazim, the officer relaxed a little.  "You will retake my city, and force the imperials back to thier ships, we will give them the most severe and daunting beating they have ever endurred..." whisped an ice cold voice.  The officer's eyebrows lifted in wonder and then in an instant he was outraged.

"SIR, you cannot take that city back with the forces you have.  We're having a hard enough time protecting this city, before long we will have to evacuate, because if they could take the capital, they will have us within the HOUR!" Kazim shouted, a strange courage erupting within him.  The chair turned.

"Launch our forces, do whatever it takes, we will not lose our Capital and our second largest city.  We will not surrender..."  Mensa concluded, standing back up, and he was taller than Kazim, so it was something of great authority when he suddenly became larger than the officer.  But Kazim did not waver, his breif lapse in belief and his assured knowledge of his leader had suddenly connected and were working together.

"Sir," he said promptly and finally," I will not launch my forces."  Mensa's eyes became wide.  "I will not send good men, who might even have a second chance, to there death...  Those men," Kazim said with even more emphasis and umph by pointing toward the ceiling where another sonic boom went off," will never, by any means, be afraid of our men.  They are superbly equipped and command those skies."

"Kazim, I am here by releiving you of your duties as a commanding officer in our Naval division.  I will see that your demoted in..." began the consul, starting to fold up a folder on his desk when the officer interupted him again.

"SIR, HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MIND?" he shouted at the top of his lungs, the young thing at the reception desk was now standing up, placing herself against a wall as part of the ceiling in her room collapsed.  Mensa suddenly grabbed Kazim and threw him up against his own wall, things crashed to the floor on impact.

"This is my army, my war, and my PLANET..." screeched the consul, his face only an inch or so from Kazim's.  The officer spit in his face, and screamed-

"NOW WHAT?  You think you can possibly beat these guys off with a stick?  They'll come back, kill everyone, put us all into slavery..."  Kazim regained his cool in a kind of exagerated lunitic fasion, no hope now.

"NO!  We will bring them to thier knees until they beg for forgivness, they will week when they see what we have done, and we will take control of them and all of thier seperate constituants.  We will control thier planets, and thier planets planets.  WE WILL CONTROL EVERYTHING!"  the consul cackled, Kazim was in utter surprise of this revelation.  All the training camps on nearby planets, resoursing, persuading the public to follow them in independance, they'd all been fooled.  Consul Mensa has lost his mind, knew Kazim.

With this final thought, the officers arms reached in between that of the consuls and, putting his elbows to the elbows of his alleged leader, he seperated them, allowing him to drop to the ground.  Kazim's arms, still in the clear, suddenly thrust forward after he landed on the ground, his palms flat and swift.  With a quick slap to the ears, the consul suddenly screamed in pain and his hands became fist.  The two of them burst into the solarplexes of the officer and began to move back and forth, a repitition staccoto punch to each side, one at a time.

Kazim fell to the ground, udderly beat.  He was un-armed and Mensa was moving to his desk to retrieve something.  "I told you to leave everything to me, let me do the thinking, you can command your troops, and I can have my galaxy..." said the consul, completely mad now and his eyes full of a lustful gleam, like he finally had the chance to fulfill what he always wanted.

Upon reaching his hand into the side drawer of his desk, his hand made sweet contact with the cool surface of his weapon.  The long arm contracted and in his hand was a smooth barraled blaster pistol.  The women at the reception desk was now coming through the doors though and sreaming for them to get out, utter chaos erupting around here as the entire ceiling began to collapse and circutry was sparking everywhere.

"Get out of here Arsino, there'll be time for us later," said the consul, some kind of fantasy had been in his head, and the young women became aware of what was happening.  Mensa's eyes remained on Kazim as he walked forward, savoring his moment.  "You sir, are dismissed..."  The consuls finger began to pull back on the trigger.

WHAPP, Arsino slapped the pistol out of his hand with a wise hand and a serene, undersanding look on her face.  She glanced down at Kazim who caught the pistol and allowed his foot to make contact with Mensa's face as he flew upwards.  He spun, Arsino moving to get out of his way, and the handle of the gun made perfect contact with the consuls temple.  The leader of the city fell quite abruptly, the menace in his eyes disappeared compeltely and he lay on the ground, awake in his own world, but completely still.

"Lets get out of here..." said Kazim, straightening up and takin the hand of the women that would, in two years time, grow to love him deeply and respect his every move...

Outside of the building-

Kazim through himself up against the side of the door after throwing it open then slamming it closed.  The pistol he'd taken from Mensa was gripped tightly in his hand, and the officers eyes were darting about everywhere.

From underneath the roads and towers, the booms were dull but still powerful, but as soon as they'd gotten outside, Arsino was covering her ears while her escort took the deafening blast in order to keep his hand in the same position on his gun.

"Stay behind me, I'm going to get us out of here, we'll take who and what we can," he paused," the city will be gone in about twenty some minutes, so we have to move fast," he finished up, his arms were at her waist, and he pulled her close to his face so she could hear him.

Like the officer had noticed, she was a pretty young thing, not necessarilly ditsy though.  It was obvious why the consul had hired her, and his vain attempts to get her attention were seemingly hilarious to the way Kazim had simply grabbed her.  She was nodding curly, dark curls unleashed from the bun after running up the staircase to the upper levels.

Again, he took her hand and began to move, and all around them there was loud barbaric hisses and blast that made them glance about everywhere for the intrusion.  If one of those bombs came anywhere near them, they were finished, and Kazim knew it better than anyone.

The officer was currenlty taking her to the station, all traffic had landed in the streets and on top of various buildings just as the capitol had done to prevent any serious civilian losses.  Up above, the shield had suddenly faultered and a group of bombers escorted by more ties were circling around in a very large loop, planning thier first real bombing upon the city.  Kazim squinted into the bright blue light, it was much nicer on the other side of the planet, with no fog or rain, it was a delightful day actually; Kazim still had a strong grip on Arsino's hand as he pulled her across several parked craft in the street and made his way frantically through a couple of alleys.

The streets were of course completely clear of people, but they had left everything in the exact place they'd been standing or sitten when they saw the imperials.  This city was far more worried about its defences than those who lived in the capital, a little snobby maybe, you would think.  No, these people were far more concervitive, worrysome, not completely informed about everything so they wern't very sure on anything and always assumed or inferred what was 'actually' going on.

Arsino slipped on the hood of a speeder and nearly plummeted to the sidewalk, but Kazim reacted quickly and caught her in his arms.  He brought her down steadilly, she was extremely beautiful, but Kazim did a good job ignoring it," Are you alright?"  He said, an eyebrow lifted with concern.

She adjusted her dress and wiggled her hips so that it was straight again, then mouthed a 'yea' and shivered as if some invisible breeze was boring down on her.  Kazim sat watching her for a second, observing really, but was soon turned around and leaping onto a staircase with a cart in front of it.  Arsino followed briskly, not worried about her dress after being studied by the sharp eyes of the officer.

Above, the imperials had not begun to bomb the city for some reason and Kazim was curious.  Again he glanced up into the sky to see the group of imperials, but this time they were getting ready for a bombing run.  NO, SON OF A...

The officer could have ripped his hair out, in his eyes, he should have killed someone...  Up above, his fighters, the men that Kazim had met and even done a little training with, were suddenly engaging the more powerful, more numerous, and much more capable VE pilots.  MAN, I should have killed him when I had the chance, Kazim's own voice was echoing in his head.  His odd lunatic understanding had come back and he gripped the receptionist hand even tighter, bringing her up beside him and forcing her across shaky gutter like porches on the side of a tall gleaming building.

The officer stopped though, about one third up, and then looked down to find the first floor and started counting up.  His lady friend was almost out of breath and had grabbed hold of the side bars holding the platform to the side of the building.  Kazim had grabbed her hand again though and was suddenly climbing downwards, one, two, three stories.  He pulled out the blaster pistol that he must have attached to his belt somewhere along the way; amazing he hadn't noticed it when he'd been gripping it so tightly.

He pushed Arsino behind him and turned to an empty office that coule be seen through a clean window.  The gun was small but powerful and a couple of shots into the corners made the glass very weak.  The man took his boot to the window now, causing it to shatter after a few attacks.  The glass was very sharp and was barelly missing, so Kazim had to be careful with the receptionist as she practically crawled through the window...

"You good," he waited and received a nod once she was back up.  He waved for her to follow and the young girl found herself racing through cubicles and java stations.  Kazim reached a window at the opposite side of the building and took it out immedietly; cannons could be heard firing and small explosions in the distance inspired the officer to work harder.

Attached to the building was a federal building, in charge of sorting the cities lavish income and then reeping it for themselves.  Kazim went first and the turned to catch Arsino as she came flying down, her skirt didn't even waver a little when she came down, darn thought a little voice in Kazim's head upon catching her.

The pistol was still in Kazim's hand and Arsino had taken his hand instead of vice versa this time, she was pretty well winded.  Two of the cities own fighters came crashing into the side of a scyscraper about twelve blocks ahead of the two runnaways.  Kazim's eyes narrowed and he shook his head at the stupidity of the elected consul.  That foolish, arrogent, basterd just sent my men to thier death.  He wouldn't want them to die in vein though, so maybe they would prove a good diversion, thought the officer.

A ladder was attached to the other end of this building and smoke was caught in the wind ahead of them and beginning to make its way towards them.  The tower was becoming consumed in fire and creaking nervously, the two fighters had done some serious damage, but thank god it had been evacuated to somewhere Kazim could only begin to imagine.  Mensa had been very sneaky about building everything so quick, no doubt he'd already deployed the cannons at the capitol.  Fool...

The couple was moving down the ladder quickly, but he let Arsino go first, so Kazim again missed his chance, but was extremely reluctant to let her move first, so as soon as he reached the bottom, which was onto another building, he stood ahead of her...  This structure was different than the others though, it had a long, elongated tunnel built into the center of it with a couple of transports.  Luckilly, the imperial insigna hadn't been removed from all of them though, so maybe he would get out without much problem.

Kazim didn't bother to shoot these windows, he simply busted the glass with his foot and jumped down directly on top of the space cruiser.  The place was completely deserted, which seemed really crazy considering how hard it is to even move on a normal day.  The entire city was really scared, thought Kazim, and then, good, they should be...

Arsino was a tiny bit more jittery about this jump, it was about ten feet and she would probably hurt herself if Kazim didn't catch her.  The officer waved her down, the sunlight on his face seemed to be a good enough sign though, so Arsino jumped was caught triumphantly by the man; the sun suddenly disappeared behind a cloud and all that could be seen and heard was that of the massive take down occuring in the skies above.

Kazim slid down the side of the craft and Arsino followed.  The officer jumped down to the door on the left hand side of the cabin and found it locked.  Crap, he thought, suddenly sprinting towards the office.

Arsino didn't follow, because she knew she needed not, so she simply leaned against the side of the cruiser and awaited the return of her rescuer.  He seemed incredibly heroic, she thought, and then she began to think about what was going to happen.  Out there, she was only worried about keeping up, but now it was all about getting away, this was the big bad imperial military they were up against.  And, she continued on in her mind, by the way Kazim sounded, they arn't going to shed any mercy at all on the city.

The officer was bag, twirling some keys around his finger triumphantly and moving to the entrance to the craft.

"What are we going to do?" the slim young thing asked.  Kazim barelly heard her and had already forgotten her name, or did he ever know it?

"We're going to escape under the cover of these guys..." he said, mocking himself by pointing up towards the sky as he had earlier with Mensa.  She climbed up the ramp that came down after the key unlocked the door.  Kazim had bolted to the controls already, and Arsino was all of the sudden in a seat with the ramp coming back up and the door closing, all the while attempting to get her seat belt on next to the officer.

The engines roared to life and lights and sounds of all sorts burst to life, an efforvescent little way point radar was bleeping every couple of seconds.  There was a loud knock at the door though as Kazim began to pull it forward out of the closed glass doors.  Arsino heard the knock and put her arm on the officers shoulders, he was kind of dusty and he seemed slightly darker from the rubbel of the office.  "I'll be right back."

The man spun around as she sprinted to the door and undid the locking mechanism to allow the ramp to come down.  He jumped up and strode to the entrance.  A young man and women, plus a child, probably their own, were pleading to come aboard.  Kazim was suddenly at odds though and just stood there looking on.

Arsino on the other hand was biding them forward, reguarless of what plan Kazim could or could not come up with for them.  She pointed to the cabin and reminded the man with her that they were still trying to get out of the city.

Everyone buckled up in the back, but Arsino returned to the cabin after a few moments after making sure the new passengers were comfortable, then made up her seat belt again.

"Lets go," Kazim said, staring straight ahead pushing the throttle forward with an odd enthusiasm.  Arsino was leaning towards the side he was on of her seat and clung to the arm of her chair to steady herself when the engine pushed the craft out of the hanger and began lifting into the sky.

The cruiser was truly a beast though, and they were bounding across the valleys of the city, in between the tall towers and beautiful sheild towers that had been ornamentally decorated.  Kazim did not bring the craft too high though, for fear that the attention that was being focused in on the planetary defenses would shift to them.

The shield was down though, so upon reaching the gates safely, the officer just flew right over them and made way for the forest.  Kaph was just finishing off the last of the city defenses and Kazim and Arsino were safely away behind a series of hills and forest, making way to the atmosphere where they would leave the planet, hide on a far away out post run by the imperials, and Kazim would join the VE in an attempt to put his abilities to use and get some money to impress Arsino so that he could eventually take her out some time...

(Edited that to satisfy myself...)

(Ok, this is short, but got the job done.)

"How does it look down there, Jeff?" Will asked as he banked and went around for another run over the central part of the city.

"Empty, yet crowed. most of the buildings on the surface are all demolished and destroyed. There's not much left of them, except a couple of small docking bays. What me to take that out?" Jeff replied to Will.

"Nah, just leave it so that the troop transports can have a place to land their loads."

"Will, we've got an unknown fighter coming in from space. It's also a Scimitar by the looks of it." Chip said through the intercom.

"I see it, who did we left behind?"

"Hi guys, It's Gene, Japh sent me to help you guys out a little. What's keeping you guys? Nazgul Squadron is already back on the ship." Gene Starwind joined the formation as Kaph Squadron flew over the flattened city once again, dropping bombs as it went.

"This city's got more fire power than you can ever imagine. It took us a while just to get through the defense to the city." Chip said.

"Look out! we've got another squadron coming in!" Will warned as his attention snapped back into focus.Red bolts filled the viewport as Will dipped the bomber down twards the city to evade the incoming fire. Chip corkscrewed to the left while Kam went right. But Gene was caught in the middle as the enemy fighters closed in from above.

"@#%$!" Will yelled as Gene's bomber erupted into a huge fireball With all of the bombs still inside, never used. A few enemy crafts was also caught on fire as they flew through the fire, not know the amount of explosives that it was carrying.

"Well, I guess he died with honor."Chip comforted. "Common guys left get this place cleaned up and we ca get out of this whole mess, and leave it to the army dudes to get it back under control."

They quickly ended the lives of the enemy pilots, droped some more bombs over the city to make the place less crowed, then began their accend back twoard the Devastator.

"Wait, i have a transport on my screen. But it doesn't seem to have any escorts. Lets go check it out." Kam told the others.

"Are you sure? It could be a trap you know."

"This is Transport number 1-5-8, to Imperial Bombers. Do you copy?"

"Go ahead, what is it that you want?"

"I am as of right now probably the highest official of the planet, and i would like to offically surender the planet to Imperial rule. Please do not shoot. I will follow you into custody."

"Ok, get in the middle of the crafts. Guys keep a lock on him at all times until we are docked on the capital ship, incase he tries to run or something." Chip said.

"Alright, lets go."
