story: Precision Range Shooting
PS this is my first story please send feed back if possible and good luck.

Ring Ring, the bell rung at 0800 hours and 48 men reported into there class rooms for weapons training. The met there commander and regretted ever coming to the course today.
"Prepare for total hell maggots, you will be undergoing extreme discipline and pain, said the chief.
Meet outside near the weapons training facility in 10 minutes or be prepared to run around the facility 100 times and get back just in time for 500 sit-ups."
Immediately after the chief left the room 48 soldiers stormed down the hall to the weapons facility. Time ticked by as the soldiers waited patiently getting better acquainted with the other soldiers. The chief walked in and acknowledged the soldiers.
"This is tea time you maggots, so quick talking and pay attention. Today you will be undergoing weapons training. You will learn the proper techniques to handle a weapon. Any fooling around will instantly get you de promoted to a janitor's level of work."
The chief led the soldiers to a gigantic shooting range with targets across the entire facility.
"You will learn how to use the E-11 rifle the most widely used gun in the fleet, accurate and reliable, but you do not want to be caught in a fire fight with this weapon. Everyone go to the armory pick up this weapon"
The soldiers walked to the armory picked up their weapons and reported back to the shooting range.
"Pick up your weapons know", screamed the chief
"You will notice the 6 inch scope across the top of you rifle. This scope allows you to scope in 34 feet of range. Not exactly a sniper, but has more range than standard guns. Put in a clip now and down the field. I will set of 50 targets and 30 hostile units. If anybody shoots a hostile unit you will not be receiver dinner tonight. You will see that each of your weapons has a different colored bullet. This will allow me to see who the soldier who ruined it for you all is."
Trike looked around glaring at his fellow comrades showing them his confidence his friends. This inspired a few that someone trusted them.
"Simulation starting in 10 seconds" said the chief over a loud speaker, "10.......3.... 2... 1.. Begin" The soldiers look down range aiming with precision and speed, Trike had downed 17 of the hostiles alone and was reloading a clip. The hostiles were down, he whole squad wondered if any of the hostages were dead.
"Very good soldiers you took down 50 hostile units and" there was a dead silence" absolutely no dead hostages" very well done said the chief.
The chief went over to congratulated the soldiers on there recent achievements. He walked over to Trike and commended him on his outstanding efforts to take down hostiles. The chief said his final announcements and told to soldiers to practice at this station for 1 more hour. Then the fun began, there was going to be a paintball match to determine the top fighter.
The soldiers practiced shooting down the range preparing for a paintball fight.
The chief came out with 48 paintball guns and split the group into 4 teams.
"You will learn how to utilize your team and work with your fellow comrades to achieve team work. You will have a sniper on your team; one captain, one medic, and the rest of the soldiers were to be infantry.
The groups all decided the positions of there fellow men. Trikes led the team as a captain, and choose Linda as the sniper, she was fast and excellent at long distance range shooting. The medic Trike choose was to be Frank. His special abilities were to be able to utilize cover and use stealth which was much needed on this mission. He made Joe Red leader who commanded a handful of men as well as Cody the blue team leader who commanded an equal amount of men.
The captain came out and explained the rules of the game "You all have a health indicator on your armor, when that health button hits 0 you are dead, instantly your armors wait will become heavy and send you to the ground preventing you from cheating. Your team captain will have double the health of your men and your sniper will have half the health of your men. Your medic will play a role of repairing your armor; he cannot repair your armor when he is down. First person to eliminate the other team's captain will win any questions, good then let's begin."
There were 3 regions, a forest the mountains, and a huge meadow which covered most of the range.
The game started quickly Trike got on his headset and began coordinating attacks on the enemies.
"Blue team go to the right and keep your medic protected, Red team left take cover in the mountains and aim down towards the other fields, sniper get near the edge of the forest and hop into a tree, make sure your covered because the slightest hit could take you out, and we cant afford to lose you" the team quickly set on the strike positions and moved. Trike moved with the red team since they had no medic and needed the highest support they could offer.
Trike saw skirmishes of men move along he meadow. Immediately Linda took them out. This was too easy, either no one knew how to plan a strategic attack; our team had the best positioning and best strategy.
Five minutes into the game, not once had the enemy spotted Trike's team. Linda had snipped men as the stood randomly in the meadow.
"Red team move along the cliff of the mountain, Trike set nav points on the soldiers helmets. This will point zulu if there is a need for regrouping meet at this point alpha. Blue team be cautious keep your heads down and move along the forest" Trike ended transmission with his soldiers and headed out. Red team pinned down a group of soldiers and took them all out, now there was only 2 teams remained, Trikes team named Phoenix and the fierce army the hell jumpers. Trike set Linda in the deeps of the forests as the targeted her alone. Immediately red team and blue team fell back to her position she downed two of them before a full retreat.
Red team and Blue team flanked the unit of soldiers and destroyed what was left of the hell jumpers force.
"That's it, simulation over, good job team Phoenix"
Trike met with the rest of his men, everyone did a superb job in the destruction of the enemy.
"I see great potential with all of you soldiers, much indeed."

ok not bad for a first go Needed a bit more editing though.
First of all if you use word remember that the word's formatted quotation marks do not work on the comnet!

secondly remember the differences between words such as THEIR as in belonging to, eg "their house, or Their class room" and THERE as in "to go over there"
And of course CHOSE is the past tense of CHOOSE, as in "Trike chose Linda"

And E-11's dont use bullets as such, they are blasters and fire energy blasts or something

Good story though Trike, just remember MS Words formatting next time to avoid the horrible squares lol

Combat Engineer Training
Materials Science

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kami walked along the gravel road winding up to her next class, her eyes shaded from the rising sun by her left hand.
"Yo Kam! Wait up!"
Kami halted at the sound of Rand's voice, stopping long enough to allow the big man and his companion, a pretty dark haired woman named Erin, to catch up to her.
"Hey" Rand grinned, "Is it just me or is it way too early to be doing Science?"
Kami flashed a welcoming smile at Erin, who was looking extremely self-conscious now that Rand's arm was draped intimately about her shoulders.
She shifted her books to her other arm, "Think they'll be giving us a buffet breakfast?"
Rand's stomach growled loudly in response. "Ehhh... I'd almost forgotten that I hadn't eaten in fifteen hours."
Erin waved a half chewed muesli bar at the two of them, "Offer's open."
Kami started up along the road, Erin and Rand at her side, "You keep it Erin, so at least one of us has a chance of passing."
"What" Rand teased from next to her, "Not as well versed in semi conductors and composites as in various methods of killing?"
She punched Rand lightly in the stomach, "You can't talk."
He grinned, "Suppose not..."

The trio jogged up the last series of steps to the large classroom which was designated to teach the partly trained engineers complex material science.
The rest of Kami's class swarmed around, the majority glaring hungrily at the muesli bar still clutched in Erin's hand.
"You gonna finish that up Erin?" A lanky private named Jules asked, his eyes gleaming.
Erin backed away slowly, holding the bar out in front of her, "Take it, just don't hurt me."

"That won't be necessary Private."
A man wearing the coat of a technician, but bearing the scars of a solider stepped down from the doorway, his eyes scanning over the group of his newly acquired students.
"You're all running late as it is, so you can contemplate eating after you pass or fail this section of training."
Ignoring the groans of the students, the instructor stepped back and waved his class forward, "Inside... now."
Kami trailed slowly after Erin through the huge doorway and into the large, dusty classroom beyond it. Taking in the giant projector at the far end of the wall, and the lines of desks before it, Kami felt the last of her hopes for a practical test fade away.
It would be theory. And judging from the size of the papers sitting at the front of the room...a very long and headache inducing theoretical test...

As the instructor cleared his throat to begin talking, she slid into a seat next to a pouting Jules and threw him a wink, "Cheer up Private."
Jules gave her a mock glower, slamming his notebook open in front of him "Yes ma'm."

"Materials..."
The Instructor paced the front of the room, his blue eyes scanning the classroom of shifting students, " ..are everywhere."
He tugged at his white coat, "Clothes, such as my coat, are made from a variety of materials. This classroom..." He spread out his arms to encompass the room, "...is made from manufactured materials of all kinds. The glass in the windows, the vinyl sliding, the metal desks, these are all products made up from materials. Though, they do of course, have different generic descriptions."
He walked over to the projector, flicking it on, "Today will be a theoretical test. You have already studied and completed basic material science in order to gain access to this course, but what I will provide you with is a greater understanding of the makeup and composition of these materials."
"The slideshow is broken up into five sections. Metals, Ceramics, Plastics, Semi-conductors and Composites. Each section should take little more than 20 to 30 minutes to complete. You are to take notes during the slideshow, which you will be able to review for 40 minutes before you are given the tests."
The instructor paused, "Just remember that the ability to change the properties and behavior of a material is what makes materials useful to us. Metal would hardly be useful in the military if we were unable to change its properties by heating or cooling it."
He turned, and took a seat behind the large desk at the front of the room, "Watch, and learn. This is a one-time test."

Kami rubbed sleepily at her eyes, forcing her mind to remain alert as the slideshow presentation started.
Jules, obviously lacking in self-control, let out a soft snore to her left.
Suppressing the sigh which threatened to break free of her throat, Kami leant over and stamped down on the privates foot, causing Jules to let out a soft yelp as he jolted out of his slumber.
She shrugged in Jules direction as he glared at her, fighting to keep a grin from her face, before turning her undivided attention toward electrons and nitrides....

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I passed!" Rand yelled enthusiastically, scooping Erin up to spin her around in a circle.
Erin let out a girlish scream, clutching onto the tall man's shoulders as her feet left the ground.
Kami laughed from where she was seated with the rest of the victorious students, Jules at her side.
"Watch out Rand!" Jules called, "I don't think she comes with a money back option if you break her!"
Rand reluctantly lowered Erin, whose face was now a sickly green.
"Spinning and Muesli bars don't mix..." She moaned, clutching at her stomach, as the two of them wandered over.
Kami grabbed Jules hand, pulling him to his feet, "Speaking of food."
Jules eyes lit up, "Food!"
Turning, the four of them sprinted off towards the mess; their notebooks falling in the dust behind them...

Good work to both of you. Also, on a side note to Trike (and all those who use word): if you use the veranda font it switches over quite nicely compared to the times font. (We use Veranda generally on the comnet)

Combat Engineer Training
Mine and Countermine Operations

---------------------------------------------------------------

Kami looked over the large barren field disappearing into the distance in front of her, one hand raised to shade her eyes from the slowly waning sun.
"We have to clear this whole field?" Rand whispered incredulously from next to her, his dark skin shining with light perspiration, "Think they have a sprinkler system installed? This friggin heat's getting to me."
Kami smiled sympathetically, tucking her stray hair behind her ears to give her a better view, "I'm sure this course has been designed to give maximum comfort to its participants Rand," She jibed, her attention only half on him as her green eyes scanned the earth near her in the slight chance she might place the location of some mines before the exercise began. Seeing nothing, she stifled a groan of discomfort, instead straightening as a team of shadows came out of the nearest building, making their way across to the small team of partly trained Engineers.
As they drew nearer, Kami's sharp gaze signaled out the rank badge on the leading soldier. A Colonel...
She arched an eyebrow at Rand, "Looks like we're moving up the military ladder."
Rand looked the young Colonel up and down suspiciously, then pulled his lanky shoulders back to stand to attention as the group finally reached the trainees.
A grisly faced Sergeant held up a clipboard, then squinted at the group of youthful troopers before him.
"Alright grunts, you have the privilege of being under the watchful eye of Colonel Garth Hawkins today..." he paused, "So listen real careful."
Hawkins shifted uncomfortably, laying a hand on the Sergeant's soldier, "I'm sure they will." He turned his piercing gaze to the class, "As is normally the case in military technology... measures lead to the development of counter-measures, hence the title of this course. Mines deny freedom of movement to infantry, whilst acting to protect and ensnare specific military targets. They are also used widely in civil wars to disrupt the economy and cause maximum distress, death and dislocation to communities"
He turned slightly, gesturing at the field, "Many of you have encountered mines on the battlefield, and all of you have received basic training on how to deal with them. I'm sure the majority have employed the most basic tactic, which is to avoid them completely. But today...today you will learn the complexities of mine rigging and countermine tactics in a face to face situation. As a combat engineer, it will be your duty, when faced with this integral part of warfare to make sure that your squad is safe from harm." He turned back to the trainees.
"Sergeant Deakin here will spend a few hours running you all through a course of mine operations, before setting you to the task of setting up a small area of the field with your own mine configuration. You will be graded on this section, but 50% of your mark will depend on your ability to dismantle another trainee's trap under my supervision"
He grinned, the carefree expression contrasting sharply with the stiff expressions of his comrades, "And no. The mines are not active. But if you trip the mines, we will be notified."
He paused, then when no questions were forthcoming, nodded to Sergeant Deakin. "Alright Sergeant, lets get started."

*            *            *            *

Kami crouched near the earth, sweat trickling along her cheekbone as she concentrated on the signal pulsing from her mission designed datapad.
She had passed the first segment of the practical without difficulty, laying a functional mine field across her specified space in the space of a few minutes. But now, she hovered near the edge of another student's minefield, her mind slowly working over the signals she was receiving.
Standard military procedure usually consisted of blowing a path through a minefield with whatever artillery or explosives at your disposal, but Kami was offered none of these things. She looked longingly over at the specialized heavy roller vehicle displayed to her right, wondering if the old model was still capable of stamping out the mines...that is...if she could find the keys to the ignition and manage to boost it all the while under the Colonel's gaze.
Her datapad beeped gently again, drawing her now undivided attention back to the screen. It scanned the area before her repeatedly, pinging as it detected anomalies beneath the soil.
It was Kami's job to distinguish which of these electronic signals were threats, and which were just similarly cloaked items placed to interfere with her attempts.
"Time, One minute." The Colonel announced clearly behind her.
With a four minute limit, Kami threw aside her caution, then stepped into the mine field. She moved quickly about, sidestepping about the bare earth in certain places, and crouching back down in others. On her knees, she would remove a red marker from the holster on her thigh, carefully sliding it into the cracks in the barren earth, before rising fluidly once again to her feet to find the next target.
Finally, she stepped out from her square before the Colonel.
He smiled, then clicked his stopwatch off. "3 minutes."
Kami gratefully accepted the water bottle handed to her by a hovering aide, then watched anxiously as the Colonel walked between her markers, comparing their pattern to that marked out by the trainee who had set the course.
He halted abruptly, then smiled again, "Congratulations Sergeant. A mark of 94%."
Kami flashed a relived smile back, the attempt only half-hearted.
Yes, she had passed the course... but at 94% in a real life situation, there was still a possibility, no matter how remote, of someone getting hurt. The Colonel seemed to pick on her thoughts, offering a supportive grin.
"You're learning Sergeant. You can't be perfect from the word go."
Kami saluted, then took her leave to make way for the next trainee who moved forward to begin their course.
On the way back to her temporary quarters, she caught up with Rand, who slowed his long legged stride to match hers.
"84," He murmured to her unspoken question, "A pass. But it's got me worried."
Kami glanced back towards the field at the Colonel's unwavering form before replying.
"Me too..."

Combat Engineer Training
Bridging and Rigging

------------------------------------------------------------

"Okay! Listen up!"
The instructor flinched as an AT-ST passed by at an unbelievably close range. Behind him, another five or six AT-ST's similarly stomped around, their courses haphazard as they weaved among trees and over the gullies of the small forest located due east of the training camp.
"A training class of vehicle Crewman have kindly put aside some of their time to participate in this course for you," He continued, his scream at its highest pitch to be heard over the whirring of mechanics and crashing of foliage.
"Your task today is, as usual, a timed trial. You and a partner must construct, from scratch, a bridge and rigging system capable of holding the weight of an AT-ST. Now whilst these AT-ST's are training vehicles, it is imperative that your bridges hold the weight. Any serious damage to the ST's will see you booted from this course. If you don't think the bridge will hold, let me know, flunk the course and apply again next year. If you don't think it'll hold, and let the ST cross, I'll personally see you booted and flogged for your stupidity. We've lost enough of these babies in the last couple of years."
A loud shriek, flowed by a deafening crash saw the instructor pause, pale faced, to watch a particularly disorientated AT-ST attempt to climb a clump of trees. The huge trunks splintered and fell, before the vehicle tottered sideways and set off on another course.
"Think it might have something to do with the VEHC standards?" One of Kami's classmates yelled out, causing a few laughs to ripple through the small group.
The instructor's pale face furrowed with irritation, "Get to your places! Time begins in five!"

Grabbing at the large backpack at her feet, Kami slid the bulk over her shoulders, grabbing at the hooks and rope bundled neatly to the side once her hands were free. Slinging the extra burden across her right shoulder, she winked at Rand who was similarly equipped, then broke off in a quick jog towards the gully they had been assigned.
After a few moments they reached the gully. Whilst not necessarily deep, it spanned a reasonable breach between one part of the forest to another. Kami turned to a grim faced Rand, who had thankfully dumped his equipment alongside Kami's.
"Suspension?" He asked, letting his dark gaze scan the surrounding foliage. Kami nodded, following his gaze, "The trees look sturdy enough. If we can utilize a couple of them for the main towers, then use hanger ropes to direct the majority of pressure towards whatever anchors we use on either end of the gully, it should withstand the weight of the AT-ST."
Rand pulled a face, "Should."
A loud horn echoed in from the distance, announcing the beginning of the trial. The two trainees shrugged at each other, then spurred themselves into action. There was no more time left to ponder over possibilities, they just had to act.
Together they struggled up the largest of the two trees spanning over the gully, hacking handholds out of the bark with knives. Once they reached the sturdiest branches of the two trees, Rand slid the heavy rope slung over his shoulder off, and with Kami's help constructed a basic pulley system to help raise their equipment.
Kami paused, ignoring the burning of her hands to wipe dirt from her forehead, "Do you want to stay up here or should I?"
Rand grimaced, "Since you seem so at home up here girl, I'll let you have the honors. I'll send up the stuff."
Reaching out, the big man grabbed onto the rope of the pulley, sliding back down to the earth. Kami watched him struggle to load up the equipment before she too was involved in the labor, slowly wincing the rope up inch by painstaking inch.
Finally, the rest of the equipment was high enough for her to release the pressure on her hands. Grabbing onto the nearest branch, Kami swung lithely between the two trees, anchoring each of the largest ropes into the very fabric of the tree trunks.
Beneath her, Rand was creating the anchors on either side of the gulley by welding everything in sight. Shaking her head as she watched his progress, Kami turned her attention back to her work, eventually securing the ropes so that they wouldn't slide when placed under the pressure on the ST. Letting them drop down beneath her, she latch onto the pulley, and slid down to the earth.
Rand's anchors had taken shape, and he was now in the progress of constructing the ramp between them, weaving the remainder of the rope up to connect to the hanging cables from the trees. Kami jogged over the gulley towards him, feeling the ramp shake beneath her feet.  She just hoped that when they were done... the anchors and the trees would be enough to substitute for the ramp's instability.
Eventually, the last hanging cable was attached, seeing Kami and Rand step back to admire their handiwork.
It hardly resembled a bridge at all...in fact, it looked more like a jungle gym more than anything else.
Ropes twisted amongst the foliage above them to latch onto the base of the ramp, the two steel ropes they had been supplied by the instructor stretching out from the two tree trunks to the anchors on either side. It was messy yes, but the connections looked secure, and the ropes taunt.
Kami flashed a hopeful smile in Rand's direction, "I've seen worse."
Rand gave an equally nervous grin as the horn sounded again, announcing time.
"Well, if it collapses, we can always run for it."
Kami laughed, the sound cut off as an AT-ST stomped into the clearing. The vehicle paused at the beginning of the bridge, rocking to a standstill on its legs. The hatch popped open to reveal a scared looking rookie.
"Ah. Sorry. I'm just checking that the bridge is ah..." The rookie looked at the ropes, and swallowed, "Is completed..."
Kami grinned, "Sure is."
The rookie paused, glancing between Kami's and Rand's smiling faces, before disappearing back into the cockpit.
Rand turned to her, shaking his head, "That poor kid." He looked skywards, "Here's hoping that someone out there's looking out for him."
The AT-ST started up again, tramped forwards...then moved onto the bridge...

The whole structure lurched threateningly, the trees groaning as they absorbed the majority of the weight. A high pitched squeal filled the air as the anchors strained to hold, the ramp creaking violently beneath the ST's feet. Slowly, but steadily, the AT-ST moved forwards, before suddenly... it was over.

Kami and Rand let loud shouts of triumph, Rand pulling Kami from the ground in a giant bear hug. Still grinning he allowed her feet once again to touch the ground, deftly dodging Kami's friendly swipe.
"Well what do ya know," he murmured, "Looks like we're engineers after all."

Combat Engineer Training
Target Analysis

------------------------------------------------------------

Kami leaned against the classroom wall, Rand at her side, as their new instructor paced the area before the rapidly shrinking class.
"Target Analysis is perhaps one of the most important skills of the Combat engineer," The instructor announced, violet eyes scanning each individual trainee, "This is mainly due to the fact that each and every mission comprises of determining a way to impact on enemy weaknesses. Your trained eye must be able to pick out these targets if you are called upon."
She paused in her pacing to flick on the projector just behind her. The old machine whirred to life, a single slide jolting into place to display on the screen taking up the far wall.

[Target Analysis:

An examination of potential targets to determine military importance, priority of attack, and the weapons required to obtain a desired level of damage or casualties.]

The instructor waved one hand at the screen, "That, boys and girls, pretty much sums up this course in a single sentence." She flicked the projector off, shadowing the room once again in darkness.
"To pass this course, you will scout out an enemy camp set up here in the training grounds and designate three targets for attack. You will, as the slideshow says, then give each target a priority, determine what we will need to successfully overrun the target keeping in mind that we have only limited resources, then hand a report into me for marking."

The instructor slapped the door control panel to the classroom, blinding the group of engineers as the door slid back to reveal bright sunlight.
"You will have thirty minutes for recon, and you must not be discovered during that time. If you are, all the information you have collected will not reach your squad, meaning you have failed in your task."
She gestured with her right hand, leading the group of ten trainees out into the morning sunshine. "This is an individual assessment, and will proceed alphabetically. So first up is Jules Anderson."
Kami and Rand's young friend stood forward, his nervousness showing as he chewed his lower lip. Without looking up, the instructor held out a datapad, "The location of the base, and a timer. Your 30 minutes starts...now."
Wanting to call out encouragement, Kami settled instead for a encouraging smile as Jules glanced her way. Then he was gone, moving quickly off into the dense forest behind him.

Slowly but surely, the day moved onwards. Trainee after trainee took their mark, then disappeared, returning with mud caked armor.
"Sergeant Sharpe," The instructor called, snapping Kami out of her reverie. Coming fluidly to her feet, she took the datapad from the instructor, winked at Rand, then jogged into the forest.
She moved quickly but surely through the woods, her movement barely disturbing the foliage about her, and the twigs beneath her feet. She had grown up on Kuat, and had spent many hours training with her sister and father in the lush forests there. So while the woodland was a limited and confusing battlefield to others, it was an open playground for her.
She'd been traveling for about five minutes when she heard the first warning sounds of a base camp, the gentle whirring of speeder bike. Slowing her pace, she dropped lower to the ground, wishing she wore the camo armor she had often worn on such missions as these instead of bright white suit of a scout.
The whir grew closer, then faded as the speeder bike turned, altering its path. Waiting a few moments to ensure the bike had continued on its way, Kami crept forwards, careful to stay wary of sensors placed around the camp's perimeter.
Finally, buildings came into sight, squat huts of grey stone scattered across a small clearing near a river. Pushing aside the leaves blocking her view, Kami raised her electro-binoculars, examining the guards patrolling or resting about the base. They were Imperial of course, attempting to look as though they were actually guarding something important, though they were dressed in the drab camo gear of the Rebels. Noting the deliberate movement of the guards, Kami marked the buildings they seemed to be most concerned about, then ducked closer to the ground as a soldier passed by a few feet in front of her.
Rising slowly from her crouch, she followed the soldier with her binoculars as he walked into the hut closest to her, glimpsing a peek of what lay inside as he opened the door.
Communication panels...
She focused her binoculars on the roof of the hut, looking carefully for and finding a small satellite relay.
She'd found her first target.

Rising softly to her feet, she crossed around the perimeter, then crouched again, her sphere of sight now greater due to the added risk of her position.
A weapons bunker sat before her, its heavy doors giving away its inconspicuous look.
Glancing down at her datapad, Kami marked the bunker as her second target.
She glanced up again, ruling out the majority of the other buildings as she scanned over them. Mess hall...barracks...restrooms.
It was unlikely that any of these would be occupied enough at a period of attack to make a significant impact. She paused as a speeder bike zoomed in above her, coming to a jolty landing at the rear of the camp. Raising her binoculars, Kami saw two dozen or so of the bikes concealed behind a camo net at the rear of the base.
Kami marked the spot as her third target.
If the communications relay was taken out, the Rebels would be sure to try to make contact with the concealed speeders.
Her task momentarily complete, Kami slid back into the shadows, and began the trek back to the outskirts of the woods.

Marking the communications relay as her No.1 priority target, Kami placed the speeder bikes second, and the bunker last, listing an inventory of the manpower and weapon power created for each task.
Just as she finished, she crossed back out onto the barren plains, and walked over to her instructor and her class. The instructor looked up as she came to halt before her, then quickly scanned over the information contained on Kami's datapad.
With a nod, she cleared the information.
"Pass." She announced without any ceremony, before calling the next student forward and handing him the datapad.
Kami beamed, then walked over to join Jules and Rand who had already completed and passed the course, both who leaned over to give her a congratulatory clap on the shoulder.

Heres my first shot:

Basic Wiring and Electronics

"The ability to field repair a weapon is one of the most important skills when you are assigned Combat Engineer. Your Squad relies on you and your ability to keep their weapons combat ready in a operation." The Instructor was grey haired veteran, who seemed to know his field but didn't have the capabilities to teach his knowledge. D'kaleth couldn't hold back and a small yawn escaped from his hand. The instructor, despite his age blessed with a good auditory immediately focused him and pointed his small staff in D'kaleth direction.
"Private First Class Al Bek, if you would be so kind and tell the squad why exactly a Combat Engineer should be able to wire a gun?!"
Eviscares jumped to his feet, saluted and spoke with loud voice, even though he was angered and alienated that he had been allowed himself to get into such an situation.
"Sir, the most important Skill for a Combat engineer is the ability to field repair guns when immediate replacement is unavailable, Sir."
The instructor clapped his hands, but a mean grin was showing on his face.
"Well done Private First Class, you have passed. This time. Sit down."
Inwardly thanking his father for the drill in his childhood, Eviscares sat down and realized the threatening undertone not until he let the last scene repass in his head.

*-*1 hour later*-*

The Classroom was quickly filled up with thin smoke and the distinct smell of molten plastics as the pupils started working at the workbenches. D'kaleth sat crooked over the DD6 Blaster, that he had been told to get back in working order. The gun had looked like it had been trampled down by a whole legion of Stormtroopers. The last 30 minutes he had spent with sorting parts and by now he was sure that he had them all identified correctly. Partly that had been a great effort as some of the parts did not have that much in common with their original design. Finally he had proceeded to the more difficult part. Reassembling. Normally this wouldn't have been such a severe problem, but under this circumstances it came down to real puzzling.

*-*1 hour later*-*

It was done. Eviscares assembled the Handgrip proudly and watched his work. Sure the Blaster wouldn't win a prize in a beauty contest but it should work. He checked it again carefully. It was a nice blaster even in this condition and he was happy that he didn't had to fix a comlink or a helmet. As the Instructor approached he stood up and saluted.
"Sir, Private First Class Al Bek reporting that the Blaster is successfully repaired."
"Well well well Private First Class, then we should get to the target range  and see if you are right."

*-*A few minutes Later*-*

Eviscares was told that his Blaster should be tested last so he had a chance to see what the others of his class had archieved. He was sure, that this again was some way to treat him bad and let him cook a bit. But then it was his turn finally.
D'kaleth stepped up to the firing range, raised the Blaster for aiming and fired. Instead of burning a small hole into the target, the Blast vaporized the whole upper half of it, making it almost impossible to recognize where he had hit. A short glance on the powercell later, he knew what was going on. The blaster had used half of the entire Blastcell for this shot.
From behind him, he heard someone clapping his hands. As he turned around he saw his Instructor smiling. A smile that made him whish to be anywhere but not here. Korriban suddenly appeared to be a nice place to live, and the stomach of a Sarlacc seemed to be more comfortable then this.
"Private First Class Al Bek, would you be so kind and tell me what happened here right now?" the Instructor asked with a voice that strangely resmbled an icy breeze on a cold day on Hoth. He swallowed and then replied: "Sir, it appears that some part in the Blast Modulator was not entirely right Sir."
"Private, you are a smart one, and I think I might be willing to give you a second try. Even though this Blaster is working, it can't be considered totally in order. You will go back to the Lab and fix one of the broken helmets which lay there. The Rest of you, get out. Those who did it, Congratulations, those who didn't I'll see you tomorrow for another try!"
The Rest of the Class saluted and quickly left the range for enjoying their spare time, which left D'Kaleth and the Instructor back at the Range.
"What are you waiting for Private? MOVE!" he bellowed and Eviscares began running through the corridors of the Academy.
When he finally arrived at the Lab, he had to catch his breath. Running up 8 Stairs was not what he considered fun. Why had the damn Turbolifts to be out of commission today.
"Must be Murphy's Law Day today" he said to himself as he approached the shelf with the Imperial Helmets waiting to be repaired. After taking it and grabbing a set of tools he set down at the bench and started wiring.

*-*3 Hours Later*-*

A shiver passed down Eviscares spine, as he brought the last Cable in the right position. He drew up the Helmet and turned it on. The systems came to live almost instantly and he could hear the commands which were given on the open Com-Channel. Everything seemed to be right. As he took of the Helmet and turned around he stood face to face with the Instructor.
"Sir, Private First Class D'kaleth Al Bek reporting that the repair of the Helmet is finished. I'm ready to let you check it Sir."
"At ease Private. Hand me over the Helmet so I can test it.", the Instructor answered still having this distinct mean grin on his Face.
After he had drawn up that Helmet, he looked around a couple of minutes, and it seemed that he was testing all of the Helmets functions. This minutes seemed to Eviscares as if they were decades and when the Instructor finally got rid of the Helmet, D'kaleth sighed with relief.
The mean grin was gone and by now the man was nodding.
"Well done Private First Class. You have passed this Class. You may now leave and enjoy the 2 hours of free time you have before waking call."

*-*15 Minutes Later*-*
The hot shower was doing his body all good. And as he stepped out of it and stood in front of the Mirror he smiled to himself. He had done it. His father would have been proud of him

Thats pretty good for a basic electronis and wiring story.  I have never heard of someone wiring a blaster back together, thats pretty cool.

(I also think it was a good post. Especially since there are not too many people who can attempt this story let alone complete it. Good work! Expect your awarded equipment in the mail!)--Rizz

(Glad I could help Squall )

Combat Engineer
Battlefield Reconnaissance

-------------------------------------------------------

"Battlefield Reconnaissance. You all know what it means; you all know how to do it, but the question is. Can you do it?"

The drill sergeant for this particular combat engineer unit was a male Twi'lek who bore bright blue skin and a ready smile.

"You will be working in small groups, as is common for those out in the field. If there are more of you, any information obtained during you investigation has a greater chance of making it back to the main forces and aiding towards a more successful attack."

The Twi'lek paused to swipe at a bead of sweat which threatened to trail down his forehead, "As combat engineers, your opinion is going to be heavily relied upon for use on designating targets. As a scout, you must be deathly quick and all near invisible. Somehow, you have to combine the two, providing accurate information without being caught."

He turned to gesture at the woods which had been utilized by Kami's last instructor for her Target Analysis unit. "In the woods are two markers representing enemy units, both placed in formation throughout the trees. It is rare indeed for reconnaissance to take place upon open plains and within easy sight, so you must learn now how to deal with the issues associated with scouting in closed spaces."

"Scout out the units, make educated guesses about potential targets, hit and run where you can." He flicked red eyes across the small dusty group before him, "And don't get caught."

One of the trainee combat engineers shifted in his crouch, "What do you have out there?"

The Twi'lek grimaced, "Lots and lots of stun guns Corporal, so choose your group carefully."

Silence ensued for a brief moment as the group eyed each other off, before slowly moving into four groups of three. Kami, her long jet black hair tied neatly back for this task, caught the gaze of the dark skinned man sitting to her right, "We've been doing well so far Rand."

Rand nodded, "I'm with you Kams."

Both glanced up as a shadow broke the merciless sun beating down on them. Jules, a young lanky private stood there, staring down, "Room in the party?"

Kami flashed the young man a smile, "Always for you."

Their instructor seemed to bore of the quiet chatter, clearing his throat loudly to regain attention. He tilted his head pointedly towards the speeder bikes resting behind him, his lekku swaying with the action,

"One bike each. No time limit. Though you must reach both markers to pass this unit. Any questions?"

Silence answered him.

"Good." The instructor met each of their gazes briefly, "Off you go."

Kami, Rand and Jules all moved quickly to three speeder bikes, slinging their gear securely behind the saddles. The other engineer's in training moved equally as quickly, casting suspicious glances at their comrades. Whilst completing the task would safely see them through the unit... there was the question of who would take the honors of being the first group to get back. The honors...and the bragging rights.

The first two groups took off, the whine of their speeder bikes increasing as they kicked their rides into second gear to build up speed. Kami's group hesitated whilst Jules finished securing his gear before they too took to the air. The bike beneath Kami roared to life, its power throbbing up the handlebars to the grips. Whilst she had never been the best at driving, Kami was well practiced with speeder bikes, and more importantly, fighting off the back of one.

Rand took off first, his bike kicking up a swirling cloud of dust. Jules followed with Kami bringing up the rear. Together, the trio weaved their way across the short expanse of open plain before crashing into the first line of trees. Kami leaned forwards over her handlebars, carefully maneuvering the bike throughout the maze of vegetation before her. Out front, Rand picked up the speed, kicking his bike into third gear. Jules followed suit, letting out a soft cry of jubilation as he did so. Not willing to be left behind...Kami clenched her jaw, and pushed her bike to new limits.

Bare minutes later, Rand's voice flowed through the comlink within her scout helmet, "We're coming up on the first marker."

All three simultaneously dropped their bikes to the lowest gear, swinging their bikes around to arch towards the marker from side on. Punching the small scanner attached to the front of her bike, Kami quickly scanned the signals emitting from a small clearing to their left. "I count 200, 300 life readings. Nothing overly large, so I'm guessing infantry."

"How do we know that they haven't got vehicles of some type?" Jules queried as the three of them coasted slowly throughout the trees.

"We look." Rand answered, his voice grim.

Kami let out a barely audible sigh, "How did I know we'd have to trek around on foot."

"Because you know these things," Rand teased.

Thinking quickly, Kami activated her comlink again, "Rand, stay airwards, Jules and I go down. Keep comm activity to a minimum so they don't pick us up. Hand signals as soon as we hit the ground."

Both men double clicked in acknowledgment, before Kami and Jules dipped their bikes, coasting almost silently to the moist forest floor. Above them, Rand peeled away to come about for another turn which would take him in a large arc about the boundary of the clearing.

Leaping lithely free of the saddle, Kami pulled her blaster from the gear on her bike, sliding it within her holster. Jules moved quickly towards her, gesturing for her to stay to the side off and at a fair distance to him as they advanced. Tilting her head in acknowledgement, Kami moved around a large tree to her right, then began to make her way through the dense vegetation. She hadn't made it far before she was forced to use her Kuati daggers to slice through the thick undergrowth, the soft swish of air to her left suggesting that Jules was using a similar weapon to do the same.

Then...she halted, alerted to the barely audible buzz which crackled across the comm system within her helmet.

Something's blocking communications...

Kami jolted where she stood, glancing about her for the white form of Jules. Seeing nothing but green in all directions, she hesitated.

If they're blocking us, they know we're here...

Forcing herself to remain calm, Kami dropped to a crouch, slipping silently behind denser coverage. Lifting her small portable scanner, she hesitated again, then moved her fingers in a blur across the console, activating the necessary measures to broadcast without tipping off anything that might be looking in her general direction.

The console blared softly, revealing a vast array of sensors spread out at intervals of around twenty paces to either side of her. Sensors placed so as to trigger an alarm if anything unidentified passed within their boundaries.

Moving carefully now, Kami altered the setting to pick up metallic components in the area, and was immediately greeted by words that had been programmed to broadcast in response, representing an invisible enemy force.

12 artillery units, 18 military grade bikes

Then, as quickly as the words had appeared, they were gone...

Kami doubled back to the clearing as quickly and silently as she could, pausing every few paces to listen to the sounds of the forest around her. She had still seen no sign of Jules...and was beginning to worry.

After what seemed like hours, but was most likely more like minutes... Kami reached the clearing to find her and Jules speeder bikes still sitting within the same place they had left them. Rand still circled ahead, opening communications as soon as he spotted his partner,

"Kams? Where's Jules?"

"I don't know," She jumped back onto her bike, kicking her engine to life, "They were sensors around the entire area. He might have triggered one; I couldn't see him at all."

There was a brief silence, before Rand replied, "Tell me what you found out Kams, I have a feeling that not all of us are going to make it back to base."

"Because you know these things," Kami jibbed softly, before repeating what the marker had told her.

Pulling the bike back into the air, Kami kicked it into second gear and swung the vehicle around back behind Rand.

Then...they were off again, weaving crazily throughout the trees.

"You see it."

Rand's statement reached Kami seconds after the life form signal on her scanner flashed,

"Yes...there are...thousands of them."

Suddenly...the air to her right flashed bright blue.

"Kams, multiple signals! We've..."

Rand's bike was suddenly enveloped in crackling blue energy. His body jerked violently atop the stuttering vehicle as he was thrown about like a rag doll within his saddle.

A cry of horror broke free of Kami's throat as the speeder bike died, floating a few paces forward before the front dipped, pointing straight towards the damp soil. She kicked her bike into third gear, then threw her weight to the side to bring the speeder about in a tight turn, barely avoiding another stun blast which crackled by her. In a desperate attempt to reach Rand before he struck the earth, she pulled back on the throttle, sending herself catapulting alongside her friend towards the forest floor.

Leaning beyond what was safely possible Kami extended her armored arm, latching onto Rand's arm as he toppled past. Now, a cry of pain broke free of her lips as his full weight jerked onto her arm, sending the bike careening to the side.

With a groan borne of strain, Kami somehow managed to pull Rand's upper body atop her bike, before grabbing urgently at the handles to pull the bike up from its nose dive. The bike shuddered in protest, tress flashing by in a blur of green as the ground continued to grow.

Cursing now, Kami kicked the bike into fourth gear, using all of her skill to get the bike's tip inch by inch towards open sky. Finally...it responded.

She leapt up and away, the speeder bike bucking wildly beneath her. Below...Rand's bike hit the earth, crumpling and rolling before it burst into flames, shooting parts of its frame up into the air.

Without waiting to watch the bikes death throes, Kami pointed her speeder towards base, kicking it up to its highest gear in a desperate rush towards safety. Trees flashed past as a barely comprehendible rate as the bike screamed its way forwards, smashing through vines and foliage blocking its path.

Then...they were out in the plain.

Her heart racing at a million miles, Kami brought her shuddering speeder to a halt before the Twi'lek instructor, who had sat down within the dust to patiently wait. No other engineers were in sight.

Casting her helmet to the side, Kami slid off her bike, storming forwards towards him with flashing green eyes.

"That...that...course... in there nearly got him killed!" Waving a hand wildly at Rand, Kami continued, her anger burning within her chest, "This isn't the real thing dammit! Soldiers shouldn't nearly die up against their own people!"

The Twi'lek watched her calmly, glowing red eyes flashing with an emotion Kami couldn't pinpoint. His words emerged icy cold, "Perhaps...Sergeant, you would prefer us to send barely trained combat engineers within the field to die in their first encounter? Worse...to fail their squads and led to the deaths of many more competent and loyal troopers of the Vast Empire?"

Kami's voice dropped until it was almost a hiss, "I don't doubt you're experience in the field, but this isn't the way training should be implemented. No one...no one should endanger soldiers lives except the enemy." She took a step forward, tilting her chin so as she could meet the alien's eyes squarely, "I'm taking this to command."

Her instructor gave her a stiff smile, "You forget Sergeant, here I make the reports to command." He laughed bitterly, "I'm making these men and women into true soldiers, siphoning the weak from the strong now. You say one word to anyone...and I swear that you...and your friends will never pass this course."

He met Kami's gaze squarely, "Is that understood?"

Kami's jaw clenched, her fists curling in barely controlled rage at the superiority flashing in the instructors eyes. He smiled again at her silence,

"Good. Then let me be the first to congratulate you Kami. Not only were you and your team the first to complete the course, you did so with a full estimate of enemy numbers and enemy gear. Great work."

Swallowing her fury, Kami forced her face to still, though her fiery green gaze still told the truth of her emotional state. Silently swearing to somehow bring this instructor...whatever his name was....down, she saluted crisply...then turned to take Rand to the medical bay.

Comments: Well, as usual: I'm impressed. I like the approach you took on the story, and look forward to reading your final stories. Please catch me on IRC so that we may begin our discussion on your final exams for this field.

Advanced First Aid

Jinx rubbed the sleep out of his eyes and then grabbed a small cloth and soaked it under the faucet.  He washed his face quickly, more to wake himself up then to remove any dirt.  He stared into the mirror for a second and decided this will have to do.  Jinx then walked back into his bedroom, grabbed a clean uniform, dressed and made his way to the door.

As he locked his quarter's door he noticed several other troopers in uniform, most looking as tired as he felt, exiting their rooms as well.  He exchanged greetings with the first few that walked by him and followed them to class.

The class looked more like a small lab than anything else.  There were several desks at the front, and about the same number of tables with large white cloths covering a body like object.  Jinx took a seat and watched as his fellow classmates filled the remaining desks.  He noticed a look of excitement and nervousness on the faces of the others.  At least I'm not the only one feeling this way

The Instructor entered the room and all went silent.  A small smile appeared on his face as he made his way to his desk and sat his small case down.  "Good morning, I'm Dur Goran.  I will be your instructor today and for those of you who possess the ability, I will be your instructor for the remainder of this course.  I do not ask much, only that you try, and ask if you need help.  However I will not pass you if you cannot finish these tasks in a satisfactory manner." He then paused to let his words sink in.  "Understood" he asked with a slight smile across his lips.

"Yes sir" was the only reply from the entire class.  With a noticeably more welcoming smile the instructor began his short lecture for the class.

---------30 minutes later-----------

"Any questions on today's notes" the instructor asked.  After seeing no raised hands, he told the class to stand up and finally move to the tables in the back of the classroom.  He quickly gave them their instructions and their time requirement.  With a glance at the clock and a loud "Go" the students lifted the cloths and began their work.

Jinx gave his "patient" a quick assessment, checking his notes now and again to make sure he was doing things in the right order, and began to work on a large gash on the shoulder.  Grabbing a few instruments he cleaned the wound and sutured it closed.

The instructor was making his rounds, giving nods of approval and helping advice to students that needed it.  He walked by Jinx's table and said "Very clean and tidy suturing.  But what about that on his leg" pointing to a medium sized burn that had suddenly appeared.  With a look of surprise on Jinx's face and a large grin on the instructors face, he continued making his rounds.

Jinx replaced the suturing tools and removed gauze and some burn ointment and began to care for the "mystery" burn.  He looked up quickly and saw that other students were also working on "mystery" wounds that just appeared on their patients.  With a feeling of relief he returned to his task at hand.

-------1 hour and several light wounds later----------

Jinx wiped sweat of his brow as he finished dressing the last of the wounds.  Other students were also wiping their faces and several stretching out their arms and backs.  "I'm very impressed with this class.  I've walked around the entire time, assessing each of your skills and I have to admit this class might be one of the best I've had this year" the instructor said with a tone of amazement in his voice.  The students all smiled and seemed to be refreshed by his words of approval.  "Don't worry about cleanup, I'll have a couple of droids in here after class.  Class is dismissed" the instructor said to the students.

Everyone began to head for the door with relief and happiness on their faces.  "Oh and don't worry about checking the passing list for today because I'll see all of you tomorrow" said the instructor.  With that said the hall seemed to erupt with shouts and yells of happiness from the excited students.

Comments: Okay, now THIS is a hard topic to deal with so I'm not going to worry too much about your shortness on length. You did the best you could with a topic that has very little expansion room. Try and make your next story longer though.

Fire Support Tactics
Heavy Weapons Course

((i cant beleive i finnaly finished this...))

Gavyn stood outside the simulation room at 0600 Monday morning. Suddenly the doors dissapeared into the wall and Gavyn stepped into the room. The door closed and suddenly he was standing on the edge of a forest. Gavyn looked slowly around and spotted the F-Web Heavy Repeating Blast. Out of the woods emerged several stormtroopers. "Alright Trooper. Now the objective of this simulation is to provide cover fire for your simulated squad. If any of them die, you fail."

Gavyn swallowed and nodded his head. The stormtroopers around him suddenly dissapeared into the woods on either side of him. Gavyn stepped up to the blaster and looked through the scope. At the far end of the field were several Rebels taking cover behind the trees and brush. Gavyn pulled the trigger on the powerful weapon. A blue energy bolt shot from the end, and connected with a tree just above the head of one of the Rebels. The Rebels began to open fire and Gavyn relaized there were more than he had thought.

Gavyn pulled the trigger of the gun again and held it, firing many more shots than all the Rebels combined. Gavyn continued to fire causing his Opponents to hide again, unable to get a shot in. Gavyn released the trigger and scanned the woods for any rebels prepairing to fire again. Several minutes passed before the rebels began to fire again.

Pulling the trigger again, Gavyn shot three rebels before they dissapeared again. At the sides of the field, Gavyn glimpsed a few flashes of white. "Wait for the signal, then lay down heavy fire on the rebels," Gavyn heard over his comlink.

"Now." Gavyn pulled the trigger and began ripping up the area were the rebels hid. Suddenly the rebels fled to the sides of the field, trying to escape the barrage of fire being layed on them. Swiviling the blaster on its tripod Gavyn took them out one by one as the fled. The few that escaped were quickly finished off by the troopers hidden in the woods.

Suddenly the Simulation dissapeared and was replaced by a battle field. Dead troopers littered the ground around Gavyn. A large gun was shoved roughly into his hands. "Lets go Trooper," yelled the stormtrooper who handed him the gun. Gavyn ran into the battlefield, dodging mortars and rounds of heavy fire, while carrying the huge blaster. The stench of death was heavy, even through his helmet.

Gavyn dove behind the rubble of a building as several bombers flew overhead. Panting, Gavyn looked down at the Blaster. It easily weighed fifty pounds. Peering around the side of the wall Gavyn flicked off the safty and began blasting away at careless rebels. Getting up Gavyn dashed out from behind the wall, making his way to better cover. Gavyn came up on one of the few remaining houses and blasted the doorknob off.

Walking inside he saw a window facing the enemy lines. Making his way to the window he blasted the glass out of the frame and pulled a chair up to the window. Looking down the scope Gavyn spotted a dozen or so speeders racing onto the battlefield armed to the teeth.

Steadying his aim on the window sil Gavyn pulled the trigger. Energy bolts ripped into the first speeder sending it into the ground to explode in a large fireball. One of the other speeders, seeing what happened to the first, turned and gunned the engines straight for Gavyn.

Gavyn dropped to the floor as the speeder opened fire on him. The building above him began to collapse before Gavyn finally got a shot at the speeder, blowing it up on contact.

"Alright soldier, that was good for today," Gavyn heard as the simulation went blank, "report in tomarrow at 0600 hours." Gavyn opened the door of the simulation room and head to his room.

Comments:I'm going to pass this one seeing that there's not too much more you can do with it. In the future, I would like to see a bit more on what you actually did for training, rather than talking. If you need help, feel free to come see myself or someone else on IRC at any time.

Medic
Chemistry

Instructor Goran welcomed the students with a warm smile on his face as each of them entered and took thir seats.  The students seemed to be exited for their second class of Medic  training.  "Ok, let's get ready for todays lesson" the instructor said rather loudly so everyone could hear and hopefully take the slight hint in his voice.  "Today's lesson will be Chemistry", silence and a few groans were the student's only response.  "Yes, I know it's not as exciting as actually suturing a vibroblade gash or trying to repair a blaster wound, but it is necessary to know.  So no moaning and groaning about it" he said with a slight smile across his lips.  "With that being said, it's notes time" Instructor Goran said with his back turned to the students and his hand already beginning to write out the first of his many notes.

--------------1 hour later------------------

"Once you've finished the last part of the notes, make your way to your table and wait for further instructions" the instructor said has he made his way back to his desk and began to gather some paperwork together.  Jess leaned slightly toward Jinx and, "Hey my hand hurts can you fix it Doc".  Jinx laughed as quietly as he could at her.  "Sure just let me find my scalpel and I'll remove that pain of yours" he responded sarcasticlaly to her.  Jess just laughed and said "Done" and stood up from her desk and looked  walked toward her table.  Jinx finished his last two notes and stood up aswell.  He made his way to his table, bumping Jess slightly as he walked by.  He just smiled at her, while she made a "I'll get you back" face at him.

the other studenst were either at their tables already or just walking up to them as the Instructor made his way to the center center of the lab area of the room.  "Ok, looks like everyone is ready for the next stage for today.  What you see in front of you on your table is an analyzer.  You have several small tubes of different substances in the racks on the right side of your table.  These will be placed one at a time into the analyzer which will then give you some "hints" as to what the substance is.    You will have to compare these "hints" with your notes and hopefully come up with the correct name for the substance.  Begin when your ready" he said.

Jinx powered up the analyzer and brought the tube rack closer toward him.  He placed the first substance into the machine and waited thru several status codes to pass and finally tore of the results the machine had printed out for him.  He then started to compare the results with his notes and checked off the ones that did not match until he came to a set of notes that filled the "hints" requirements.  "Water, this long to find out this is water.  Oh man this is going to take forever" he said outloud to himself.  He grabbed the "water" label and placed it on the tube and set it back into the rack.  Jinx grabbed the next tube and began the process once again.

The next few tubes seemed to go quickly as the machines results narrowed his search for him.  He made the comparisons to his notes and placed the corresponding labels to the tubes and placed them in the rack.  He grabbed the next his sixth tube and placed it into the analyzer.  The machine went thru it's status codes and printed off the results.  Jinx tore them off and began to scan his notes for any comparisons.  He found four possibilities but could not narrow it down any further.

"You've got to be kidding me, four matching substances but only one of them is actually right.  Ok, well the properties are all the same, reactions are the same but the only difference between them is the structure.  This would have been easy if the machine had printed that result out for me, but no, make my life harder than it should be" he said under his breath.  He leaned his head one his hand and decided to run the tube again.

The results printed out the same, "Well it has to be one of these four so I guess I'll have to guess.  I can't take all day on this one with so many left to do."  He selected a label and placed it on the tube and put the tube into the rack.  He grabbed the next tube and ran it thru the machine.  The results printed and he scanned his notes.  "Ah, an easy one this time" he said to himself.  He labeled it and replaced it into the rack.

Instructor Goran made his way from table to table, checking on his student's progress.  He gave encouragement and advice where due.  He approached the table where Jess was working and said, "Ten tubes already, I'm impressed.  Let me see if these are correct though."  He then grabbed his datapad and compared the results on the tubes to his key.  He placed the last one back into the rack and said that all of them were right.  He said "Get the next ten right aswell and you won't have to worry about doing all 35 tubes" he then walked over to Jinx's table.

"Seven tubes, good start.  I'll check these aswell."  He quickly checked the tube results and replaced the last tube.  "Very good, all are right except one" with that he left Jinx and walked over to the next table.  Jinx dropped his head a little in dissapointment but kept going with the tubes.  Jess looked over and and gave him a smile of support.  Jinx returned the smile with a nod of "thanks".

----------------1 hour and 28 tubes later--------------

Jinx finally finished his last tube and placed a label on it and put into the rack.  He leaned back and stretched his arms and hands out.  He looked over at Jess's table which had been cleaned and empty for the past thirty minutes.  She had finished twenty tubes flawlessly and had taken her seat to wait on Jinx to finish.  Jinx on the other hand had gotten a couple more tubes wrong and therefor had to finish all of them.  He was not the only one in that position as most of the students were still at their tables.

He signaled for the instructor to check his results before he was allowed to return to his seat.  Instructor Goran made his way to the table and began checking the tubes against his key on his datapad.  "Congratulations, twenty nine out of thirty five.  You pass with 82% correct.  You may leave when you've finished cleaning your table off."

Jinx sighed with relief, "Thank you sir."  The instructor nodded and moved to another raised hand signaling that someone else was ready for their test results.  Jinx stood up and walked over to Jess.  "Well how did you do" she asked as he neared her.  "82%, better than I thought I would do after those first few tubes"  he said in response.

"That's really good, I knew you would get a good score" Jess said with a big smile on her face.  She stood up and grabbed her bag.  "Thanks, I'm glad you knew that, because I sure didn't" he chuckled.  " You hungry at all, because I'm starving now" Jinx said as they walked toward the door.

Heres my first specialty story, any help would be great, I am not the best at grammar and as we all know spell check does not pick up everything. So any help would be awesome, thank you.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sinister

Story 1: Basic Electronics/Wiring

Mahkar Sinister looked up from the harsh metal desk in front him to the front of the class, where a middle aged Sergeant of slight build, with short dark hair and piercing gray eyes was standing. It seemed like forever ago that Mahkar had left the barren planet of Tatooine, yet he knew that he was in a far better place, doing something far better than moisture farming. As Mahkar continued with his thought, the Sergeant began to speak.

"Welcome everyone. My name is Sergeant Falmar, and you will call me Sergeant or Sergeant Falmar. I know every single one of you has heard stories about how hard the training is and how hard it is being a Combat Engineer. I am here to tell you that all of this is true, troopers depend on you for the maintenance and repair of their field equipment, they depend on you when something has to be rigged for explosion, though that will come later in your training. For this segment of you 'education', you will be learning the very basis of electronics and wiring," at this point the Sergeant began walking around the crowded room looking into the eyes of all the troopers, "now, if there are no questions, we will begin." Sergeant Falmar walked back to the center of the room, looked to his right and a Corporal appeared with an arm full of tattered manuals titled Basic Electronics and Wiring. The Corporal walked around the room passing out the books and then left as he had arrived, without a word.

Mahkar feeling uncomfortable in his steel chair scanned the cover of the manual and looked back up to Sergeant Falmar who was grabbing his own copy off from his desk, "Now open to page one," from the back of the room came a sight from one of the students, everyone turned to look, Private First Class Amendum, always Amendum Sinister thought, all through basic he could not shut up and even now he can't. As heads turned back to the front of the room there was a flash of something shiny and silver that passed Sinister's face, from behind him there was a thump and a groan coming from Amendum, "PRIVATE YOU BEST DAMN WELL SHOWN SOME RESPECT! I have no time for people who do not want to be here and learn from my years of experience. DO I MAKE MY SELF-CLEAR?"

"YES SERGEANT!" Amendum managed to yell as he was pulling himself off the floor and back into his chair.

"Now where were we? Ahh yes page one," Sergeant Falmar then proceeded to read the entire three hundred page manual...

10 hours later...

"And that is the proper way to disassemble and reassemble the personal Data pad. Any questions? NO!" The Sergeant seemed stunned no questions; well he thought maybe its time to put them to the test, "CORPORAL!" A few moments later the same Corporal who had handed out the cursed manuals returned.

"Yes Sergeant Falmar."

"Bring me the box of malfunctioned Data pads, we are going to see how well our young troopers listened, and what sort of skills they posses already." The Corporal disappeared out of the room again and returned a five minutes later with a box of broken Data pads and dumped them on the table at the side of the room. Sergeant Falmar walked over to the now messy table and picked up one of the pads, "you sure have your work cut out for you... you have two hours."

1 hour later...

Mahkar had just finished rewiring a portion of the Data pad when he looked at the clock and let out a mutter under his breath, "one hour left, and great." Sinister lowered his face back to the task at hand and kept plugging away. No one was going to be able to say that the poor moisture farmer was not good enough, at least he would put his best effort into it. Besides it wasn't so different from the equipment back on the farm, just a little more sophisticated. Mahkar soldered a small red wire into place and flipped the Data pad over; the screen was alive with the faint pale green color, as it was supposed to look. The only thing left now was to make it look like a Data pad again.

30 minutes later...

Mahkar put the finishing touches on his rebuilt Data pad, closed his manual, jumped out of his seat, came to attention, and yelled out at once, "SERGEANT FALMAR, PRIVATE FIRST CLASS SINISTER DONE WITH THE PRESENT ASSIGNMENT SERGEANT!" Sergeant Falmar having heard this stormed across the room toward Mahkar.

"Well I'll be god damned... does it work Private?" Sergeant Falmar asked glaring at Mahkar, "well does it?"

"Yes Sergeant Falmar, yes it does." Mahkar was starting to feel a little unsure about himself at this point, having forgotten that Sergeant Falmar was standing only a foot away from him, Mahkar started wondering, does it work, I could have sworn it was working. After what seemed like years, Mahkar was snapped out of his daydream from hell by the thunderous voice of Sergeant Falmar.

"Excellent job Private, this piece of scrap metal may not look a whole lot like a Data pad, but it sure as hell works like one. Good job, you may go get chow." Sergeant Falmar then turned his attention to the rest of the class, "Alright the rest of you have twenty minutes remaining, now you best be moving your assess like you have a purpose in life."

And with that Private Sinister grabbed his items and cleared out of the room before Sergeant Falmar could have a change of heart. Mahkar made it out of the classroom, back to his bunk and laid down. What had he gotten himself into he wondered, its has to be better than farming, well tomorrows a new day and with that he put his head on his pillow and passed out.

Comments: Decent attempt at a first story. I usually like to see a bit more of the hands-on work, but good work. Next one, less talk, more work.

Halsey7
Story: Long-ranged heavy weaponry
Specialty: Close-combat
(This is my first post and I just joined the squad so feedback would be great.)

"Would private Halsey7 please report to long-range heavy-weapons training, thank you."  "Okay well here goes" said Halsey. He was nervous since this was his first day with the Iron Horse squad. While he was contemplating his decision in the storm trooper corps he ran into FTC Gavyn Kanu. "How do you like the Iron horse squad Halsey?" asked Gavyn.  "Very much sir thank you for asking "stammered Halsey. "Well good luck with your first day of training."  After his encounter with Gavyn Halsey felt relaxed about meeting officers. This feeling was soon changed when he met the drill sergeant." You are about to have you first bit of training are you not? Asked the drill sergeant.  "Yes, sir". Said Halsey.  "I DID NOT ASK YOU TO SPEAK MAGGOT. YOU WILL ONLY SPEAK IF YOU ASKED TO. Screamed the drill sergeant.  Several curses were flying about Halsey mind at the moment but he bit his lip not wanting another outburst.  Here you go the drill sergeant said calmly, while sliding Halsey a data pad. These are the weapons you will be studying and using today. While Halsey scrolled down he noticed the power of some of these weapons. Such as the v-web portable blaster artillery piece which was supposed to be a light and powerful attack artillery piece.  After about a minute Halsey handed the data pad back and said"I'm Ready"." Okay let's begin."  "You will start by eliminating New Republic defenses with the AT-TE. Now this will only be a simulation but if you take to much damage we will have to pull you out.  Now here is a modified AT-TE it was meant to be run by a crew of seven but we have eliminated the least important parts such as the anti-personal armor.  Study these controls and you will be good to go. Am I clear? "Yes, Sir! Shouted Halsey. Well climb in and let's get you started. He climbed in and realized how roomy this walker was.  Okay the Republic positions are on that hill.  Go!  As soon as he shouted go Halsey was firing away with no thought for the over-heating barrel.  Soon after Halsey found that he was taking far too much damage. So he started moving while lining up his shots with more precision. This is how the first two artillery bunkers were destroyed, but he was still taking damage.  "Crap there must be a battery inside the main bunker" exclaimed Halsey.  Soon he was focusing all his fire power on the main bunker. Then without warning a massive explosion rocked the area around the bunker, or what was left of it.  "Dang! The kid must have hit the ammunition magazine" exclaimed the drill sergeant.  Halsey then noticed massive amounts of new republic forces sweeping over the hill.  They were tightly packed but a fighting force none the less. After three waves of forces Halsey realized how tired he was. "Okay time to switch weapons" said the drill instructor you will now be using the spha-t self-propelled heavy artillery. He took one look at this weapon and said one word, "wow."  Let's begin, now climb in and we will get started.  Once Halsey had climbed in and familiarized himself with the controls the drill instructor said your assignment will be to knock those transports out of the sky. Now they will fire at you so if you take to much damage you're done, oh and if one out of the eight transports land you're done.  After the drill instructor started the training Halsey started looking at his radar and eventually he found the transports so he lined them up in order of importance and started to line up his first shot& it missed, badly.  I would aim in front of the transport if I were you said the drill sergeant.  Okay, now using this piece of advice he destroyed the first three transports, but the next five were coming at the same time so Halsey started to rush his shots resulting in only hitting two. Now the next three were in range and he started taking damage. The next two were destroyed but the last one was in the process of landing Halsey hit it so hard that the shockwave almost destroyed him. After clambering out of the simulator he felt exhausted. Good job said the drill sergeant now get to bed training again at 0430 sharp. After finding his way to his bunk Halsey collapsed not sleeping but unconscious.

Comments: Good job for a first try. Now, unfortunately I can't give you much credit because this isn't an official story. See, we have guidelines here and one of them is to choose a field and get a specialty sheet saying what stories to do in what order. E-mail me at [email protected] and i'll be happy to set up a meeting time online to help ya out.

hey this is my first try so I need feedback i don't really know what I'm doing so I don't know if this could actually happen or not?? I know there will be a bunch of spelling and grammatic errors so don't be to harsh!lol

Zolo
Specialty: long-range blaster rifle (The DC-15A)

One day in the mid-afternoon I was on a lunch break when I ran into this really important looking guy, he had a seriose face, and looked rather frightning. I noticed his rank and apologized and saluted him, he yelled, "what is wrong with you?? Don't you ever look where you are going?? Stupid  recruit!" he stormed off in the other direction. I didn't think much of it until I went to my classes that afternoon. when i reported to the room I was supposed to be in for class I was just barely on time! When I reported to the head conductor I stopped, it was the man I had bumped into earlier!! I just simply turned and headed for a group of stormtroopers. when i startd to get to know some people the conducto barked, "Run down to the armoury and get the DC-15a! You men will be specially trained to use the weapons use in the clone wars,by the end of these classes you will be able to hit targets a hundred percent of the time and cause super damage on the enemy!" WIth that we marched down to the armoury got a DC-15a and headed back to  class. When we got back a practice area had been set-up. Many targets were put all around the room and medium sized squre was  drawn in the center of the room. The conductor told us, "Youwill now attempt to shoot down the targets who will shoot back, and you must rely on your class mates to have your back because I must say that there stuns are quite hurtful." With that he clicked a button and all the robots came to life, auto atically the inexperianced troopers wstarted shooting randomly and were stunned, some others were more controled, I, dind't know them amazingly well but i had seen one while i was trained on Kashyyyk. I started firing, to my surprise they had a strong kick but I could deal with it, I slowly started to pick off the robots that were stunning my class mates. While i kept shooting the enemy down I had to keep my friends safe, I shot a few robots, noticed my friends were about to get shot from behind so I turned around and shot the robot, feeling a little relief i turned around and i was shot right smack in the chest, I fell down and passed out. When i came to i was in a bed, along with many other of my class mates. I heard the voice of the conductor, "That was terribel!! it took less than and hourto get you all stunned!! Only about 5 of you could actually shoot the gun correctly and half that maybe could be helpful to that army!1This is going to be alot more work than I suspected..." He started to mutter to himself, I raised a hand and said "Sir, with all do respect why did you put us to such a hard test on our first class??' He gave me a narrow eyed look and said "questions are not wanted noe.. please come with me to my office." I reluctuntly got up, i felt a little pain where the stun hit me but i was mostly ok. When i entered the office the conductor to ld me to sit. He said " I was watching you from the side, where did you learn to shoot with such precision and accurracy? Furter more i was expecting everyone to get stunned in about 30 minutes.. but you save alot of them with your skilss, wheer did you learn to fire the DC-15a so well?" I paused, thought about it a little and old him all about my past, how my father got killed by rebels, how i trained myself in the woods with old blaster and pistols, and how I joined the stormtroopers ranks. I said" wheni was wandering around i saw a tormtrooper carrying them so i folloed him and saw him practice with them." The conductor looked like he was wondering something, he said very well i think i will keep an eye out for you, you may become a great worrior someday." I was glad to hear that, thinking bacvk to my promise with my father I gave my commander a smile and a salute and left the office. When the conductor came back to the whole class he said " This is the end of the class today, come back tomorrow at noon and tomorrow again at night, so I can teach you al little about the night vision on your helmets and hwo you can use them to your advantage at night when you shoot these weapons, we will also learn the way to shoot, hold, and reload them, good day." And he left. I left the room and headed for my lodging, when I walked away another trooper came up to me and told me how great I was, with a smile I said thanks and carried on, I looked up at the sky and whispered under my breath" I'm on my way dad, I'm on my way!"

Zolo
Specialty: Ryyk Kerarthorr Blades

After my first class I was rather exhausted, and my chest still hurt a little. When I went to my room to drop off the DC-15A that I had used in my last class, I noticed a package on the floor with my name on it!? It was a long narrow package and I didn't know what to do with it. On the top it had a card saying, Zolo these used to be your fathers, please put them to good use, from The Village Council. I was over joyed to have something of my fathers! I ripped open the rapping and when I opened the box there were two very sharp looking Ryyk Kerarthorr Blades! I was really excited, since my next class would be a melee weapon class I could use these to fight and train! I grabbed them and ran off to the class. When I got to the class I was Just late, the head drill officer yelled "What the heck is wrong with you!! What kind of soldier is late for his first class!!!" I just looked at the floor and headed for the back of the room, "NO don't go back there we all are in order by race then by seniority!" I looked up and found the wookiee section and stood where I thought I would go. The class started, the drill officer yelled and yelled, when he was done talking about his expectations and things he told us to run down to the armory and get a stun baton, I shot my hand up, "What! Can't you hear! I said go get a stun baton you dumb maggot!!" I told him "I have brought my own melee weapon sir!!' A Ryyk Kerarthorr Blades!" He glanced at me and picked up the phone, a short while later he pointed at me and then to the door, I stood there dumbly. He said, "leave, get out, I don't want you in this class," I was dumb founded, I picked up my stuff and left. When I got outside I saw a wookiee coming toward me, when he got close I said, " I got kicked out of class I'm not skipping!" The wookiee came up to me grabbed me by the shoulder and brought me to a separate room, in the room there were a few other wookiees that I hadn't met before. He introduced me and said " Everyone this is your new class mate," He looked at me I said " My name is Zolo." With that we started doing arm stretches and such, When we were done he told us to get out our weapons and begin to fight a invisible enemy in front of us just or practice. He watched em, I could tell, but I tried my best to work these weapons and kill the enemy. I remember when I was back in the village; I saw a few wookiees practicing with these types of swords so I tried to imitate what they did.

When he told us to stop I was quite happy with myself for being able to handle these for my first time. Later on in the class the wookiee gave us a simulation and we were on a battlefield, we were supposed to kill all the rebels and then save our own commander. Most of the class fought well, some of them got hit by the stuns that were being shot at us. When the class got to the commander some of the class got left behind because they were either injured or "dead".  Me and about 4 other wookiees got to the commander we cut the strings grabbed him and ran back slicing and killing any rebels in our way trying not to get hit, we also tried to help as many of our injured soldiers as we could. When we got back the drill wookiee looked quite happy, he told us that we worked well together and we would make a great warrior. Next he put out another simulation, this time it was in a wooded area, a big forest like the ones on kashyyyk, we walked a round cautiously, all of a sudden a huge monster came out of nowhere!! It quickly  "killed" a few of the soldiers in the front of the class. The rest of us were trying to spread out around the beast so we could close in on it, but the monster was way to fast it quickly kept killing and killing, until me and a few others were left, through the communicator I said " Let's attack him now!" I went and attacked only to be smashed away and the giant monster pounced on my. I opened my eyes and I was back in the room, I didn't succeed. I watched on a screen as the other two wookiees took that advantage of the beast turning away from them and jumped on to the beast's back. They kept slicing and slicing until the beast was not able to move and they both gave the beast a finishing stab, it was dead. We all clapped as the two came out of the simulation. The drill wookiee was not happy, he said " Most of you died, the two that stayed alive had excellent talents," the two saluted him and said "Thank you, sir" He continued, " further more most of you were taken by surprise, that is not good, in this we will teach you how to expect the surprise and be ready for it." He dismissed the class. I walked out and looked at my blades, they were silver and they had strange marks on the blade. When I got back to my room I put them back in the box and out it under my bed. I was tired from my first day of training and I remembered that I had to go practice the DC-15A again tonight, I took advantage of the free time and took a little nap so I could stay awake that night. When I woke up I wasn't really sure of the time but it must have gotten late so I got out of bed, grabbed my DC-15A and ran toward the class room, tonight was going to be the best night of my life!

This is my first story and I would like alot of comments because I hope to improve on my next story.

Heavy Weapons Specialist
Fire Support Tactics
Zolo walks nervously down the hallway toward his first class, Fire support tactics. HE was very scared. when he entered the class room he saw some of his friends there so he calmed down a little bit and had a chat with them before the class started. When the drill captain came in everyone became quiet. The drill captain barked " You men have been chosen for this job, A heavy weapons specialist, this is a privilege and I will not tolerate any fooling around or an smart alecky things." Zolo gulped, this drill captain sounds pretty strict! " today you will be taught how to provide your squad with heavy fire" With that he gave a look to the other soldier that was in here and he immedialty ran off and came back with a table that had simulators on them. "you men will no attempt to provide support to your squad, this is to see how good you are." We went up individually and got one, Zolo stationed himself in the middle of the room and started it. He immediately was confused he didn't know what buttons to press to control the gun or anything because he was never taught anything about the guns. He saw his squad running ahead and the commander told Zolo to provide support so they could get there with out as much resistance. Zolo panicked and started to press random buttons, He pulled the trigger and accidentally took out one of his men!! Oops, thought Zolo, but now at least he new what he was doing, he turned the gun and started to fire at the rebel resistance, once he got into it seemed easy and he was taking out the rebels with ease, but Zolo wasn't paying attention, he was attacking places where his squad wasn't attacking and in a few minutes all his squad was killed and the simulator turned off. For a few minutes Zolo just sat there and watched the rest of the class fail. When everyone was finished the drill sergeant immediately barked " you all didn't do very well, not surprising of course since none of you have had any training." So for most of the class he taught us every little thing about the heavy weapons He taught them how to fire the guns, to aim the guns, to use the scopes, and most importantly of all to be able to fire at the right spots so your squad had a opening to attack them. Zolo was now feeling like he was ready to take on the simulator again, so at the end of what seemed to be a very long class, they got to try the simulators one more time. Zolo immediately put it on a nd started. This time he was in a place much like his home on kashyyke, full of trees but some cleared areas, in one of the cleared areas he saw the rebel resistance. The squad commander said "Ok Put some fire on that barricade so we can have a better chance of getting across that open field before being wiped out." With that Zolo understood he stationed his gun and got ready to fire on command. He looked through the scope trying to find a weakness where he could attack them. While looking he saw the rebels had a heavy gun too! He automatically aimed for the gun worried that it would destroy his squad in a second. When the squad started out he immediately fired a couple rounds at the gun, he missed and only his the men around it, which was ok but Zolo wanted to take out the gun before someone could come man it again. He aimed at the guns base and pulled the trigger..... BOOM!!! the base exploded  causing many rebels to take cover from the explosion. He gave himself a pat on the back and started going again. His squad was going in through the that he had made and they were attacking the rebels and killing them, but since they were inside the wall Zolo was not able to see what was going on so he kept destroying the wall. When most of the wall was down he could see a group of  rebel reinforcements were running toward his squad to whipe them out, Zolo took aim and blasted the center of the group eliminating most of them. He saw many more rebels coming there way and he kept attacking and attacking. In about 3 hours Zolo and his squad had taken out most of the rebel force and they had sent a group out to take out what was left of the fleeing rebels.
Zolo's simulator turned off and he went and returned it to the drill captain. The drill captain talked to Zolo about what he did right and what he did wrong. After everyone in the class finished there simulations the drill captain told everyone about the most common mistakes made and the best things that they could have done instead. He also told us what to do when your squad was retreating and what to do if the rebels were advancing quickly. At the end of the day Zolo and everyone in the class knew more than they wanted to but were very pleased with all the new information. Zolo walked back to his room and lay on his bed reviewing all the information that the drill captain had taught his, In about an hour he had fallen a sleep, this was a big first step for Zolo and was also very exaughsting. Zolo woke up the next day looking forward to his next assignment, Indirect Fire Operations.

Comments: Well at first glance: this does look like a total mess. Upon taking a closer look, I noticed that you do have some decent writing abilities. There are some misspelled words and such, but nothing that a little clean-up job won't fix. Clean up this story, and start your next one.
