Hey Tal, we've figured out how to get you meeting the squadron. We plan to do some Heart of the Fleet things till the next story since I don't think we have time to do anything major. So we'll play with that for a bit and do some certs/skills and what not. Tal doesn't even need me to tell him that was what I was going to suggest moving forward.
Since Chapter 9 is going to be coming very soon, I believe it is a wise idea to start doing certs and skills so that we can justify any actions done in the VE-wide story. Gurlanin doesn't need to because he's an overachiever  but I'm sure his goal is to do all of them XD
Though I have to say, with shinies and promotions coming, it may be a good idea to hold off any CD story stuff (not cert/skills) until such things are awarded. That way you know what your character has gotten and you can properly write their reaction. But that's just my personal suggestion. Obviously you guys have free reign to create your own CD arcs. I don't want to do all of them ... just most ..... And, for any of you wondering where to start, the Ground Attack is perfect. It's required for the Tog Gun Tier 1 cert, which would be good for you to have. After that, it's personal choice. I decided to do all the ancillaries involved with the Top Gun certs, as well as infiltration (because we're commandos), shuttle piloting (mainly for Death, so I could include it, but also for future) and gunnery (in case I ever go Fleet Command). Remember, you can do as many ancillary skills as you want (within reason), but Certs require rank. Tally, like me, will only be able to do tier 1. Avalar will be able to do tier 1 and 2. Joamer (correct me if I'm wrong) will be able to do the entire 3 tier kadboodle. That is, until rewards flood in, and I get promoted high enough to carry on. Ensign rank would do .......... What? Hey now, Gur. Remember, I have been in the VE for a couple years longer than you. I had a different character at the time and I was SC of a squadron. I know how the certs/skills work because they were the same in my time. My rank dropped because when I started a new character, Tryk had to drop all of my promotions and shinies.... everything. it was a very sad day, but I could not be happier with my choice.
I would also suggest that since Strill is a commando squadron that you attempt the Environmental Survival skill. I don't know what's in the future for Strill as far as Ch 9 is concerned, but the point of Strill squadron was not to do just normal dogfighting.

It wasn't aimed at you, Av. I know you know. Just for those who don't. Sharing my experience. Besides, I asked to politly correct me if I was wrong, not shout.
ANYWAY
There are several skills it would be useful for a commando to do: infiltration, martial arts, environment survival, slicing, zero-g combat, and starfighter mechanic spring to mind.
Personally, I was going to do the slicing next. Will do the environ survival from your suggestion, Av. Probably mechanic after that. Then martial arts. If I have time. Strill Weekly Report
05/11/2013 The Story as it StandsAAR: Strill kept up the fighting and pulled through. Jexxel and Gundark weren’t quite as lucky. With the surrender of the Dominion, we have prevailed. Oh, and Joamer was promoted to Ensign. Make fun of him.

Yes but you see Jexxel is mostly full of rooks. Over here we have the true Hunter Jocks. Plus we won't fight an open full on battle, our job is to hit'n'run. Which we will put our lovely hyperdrives to use.
