Thought it best to open a new thread for this one to discus the matter fully.

I have seen that a few more people have added their names to the Ebon Hawk character list, and I have friended you all in game.  We are getting active!

Our Own Guild
I was chatting to Kami in the game and it seems to be only a matter of time until four of us are on at once and we can form a guild!

Before we do that, though, we need the following:
a) a name
b) a purpose

As for name we have a good suggestion recently from Skarr, the Order of Kadann, and I think that sounds wonderful.  I for one would go with that.

So then purpose.  We erred first time by forming on a PVP Server, and the shift to an RP Server is the right one.  Are we going to be a Roleplay Guild?  Or RP and PVE (Player Vrs Environment, like helping each other with quests).  Or will be have an element of raiding (large groups of us doing high-level Flashpoints and Operations for elite gear)?

We need to define ourselves so we can attract more people and quickly explain what our guild is for.  For example, I saw someone today in General Chat saying "I want to find a good/heavy roleplay guild".  That might have been one for us, but we need to be able to quickly say to such a person "yes we are, but we also raid" or whatever.

Joining Another Guild
Roleplay and PVE are all good, and we can do that ourselves.

However, if we want to go down the Raiding route then we will need huge numbers and huge committment.  If that is what most of us want then perhaps our own guild is not the way to go.

Some have suggested that we reach out to an existing guild and join with them.  That makes sense if we quickly want the numbers for raiding, but the truth is that the VE website does not have the infrastrucute to be a SWTOR guild hub.

We don't have a calender for quest events, we don't have a link-up to an IRC chat room, etc.  Aside from a domain name, we have little to offer a pre-existing guild save people.

So before going forward lets discus.  Are we going to be the Order of Kadann RP Guild, or something else?

As a new F2Per, I agree with Garryll. RP plus PvE when possible. Order of Kadann sounds good too.

I love RP and PVE as well, and that would be my own suggestion.  Glad to see that such is the general feeling!  Let's form our own guild then!

Alas, Japheth, you raise an incredibly sore point.  I too am aiming for an HK droid, and will happily go with you to hunt for the 7 parts with which to assemble it.

The sad truth is that the seventh HK part (the only one I currently lack) can only - and I stress only - be obtained from a Hard Mode Flashpoint.  So unless you are geared for raiding, its not going to happen.

(seriously, I tried that HM last night, and died within seconds.  No joke, first encounter, regular foes not even a boss, and I was down.  My party realised how under-powered I was and booted me within minutes.  The greatest humilitation of my SWTOR life!)

Tossing another vote in for advertising ourselves as an RP/PVE guild.

I know I've already raised this in the F2P topic, but I think we need to flesh out the concept of our guild before we start advertising it. If we go with 'Order of Kadann' who is Kadann? Is he a mysterious benefactor? A Sith Lord? Why do we serve him? What is our purpose? Why are we recruiting?

We can't simply apply our Thrawn era characters and timeline to TOR. Kadann could be a descendant of Kadann, but then we're playing with his character's storyline and I'd like permission before doing anything like that.

The above questions wouldn't really matter if we were focusing on PvP/PvE, but if we intend to lure people onto this site and make RP-related posts we need a bit of background in place.

An idea that I've been tossing around is that our organisation is a baby, fresh-faced replica of the Vast Empire as we know it today. We are a group of like-minded individuals who see the current structure of the Empire as ultimately detrimental to its goals. To be more specific; we believe that although Sith have their place amongst the ranks of the Empire, power should rest in the hands of the Moffs not force-users. The Jedi-Sith war places the order and stability offered by the Empire under threat. Force users should take their war elsewhere or risk destroying the galaxy over their futile bid for power.

This kind of background would let us work with and against the Empire of TOR. We could organise subterfuge missions, strike at terrorist/extremist cells and factions and aid members of the Empire sympathetic to our viewpoint. We could also sponsor certain Sith/Imperial Officers/Mercs (our members) into positions of power where they have the capacity to shape events.

The above is just a suggestion! I figure we need to start talking about these things so we know from the get-go what our goals are.

Section X isn't open to F2P anyway, not without buying access, anyway. Can probably also buy mail access, for that matter.
