Sk8 called his squadron into their briefing room; he had just received emergency orders from Admiral Riel Fury. As his squadron assembled he could see the confusion on their faces. Sk8 could see the senior members cool and calm though, exactly as an Elite squadron should be. "Ok, everyone here?" sk8 asked. He looked around and answered his own question mentally. "I guess you're wondering while your here. Well, I have just received some orders from Riel." An excited burst came from his pilots. They looked around, obviously happy to see some action. Sk8 quickly quieted them and continued with the briefing. "We're going to the Dantooine. A group of pirates is gathering a rather large force. We're to go in system and take care of them." sk8 briefed his squadron. "What kind of force do they have?" JMac asked, anxious to get the mission started. "Well, they have two corvettes and a squadron of various sorts. We'll be flying in with the corvette Aurora Dawn. We're to take out the fighters and the corvettes. After they are clear, we'll hit their base located on planet. The corvette will land what troops it has to assist us." sk8 answered. "Sounds like fun. When do we get started?" joked his XO Lonewolf. "We leave at 0800. Get some rest and prepare for tomorrow. Dismissed." sk8 answered as he finished the briefing and the pilots began piling out.

Liquid pulled on his cross necklace, kissed it, and placed it back in his shirt. "this could get quite messy up here." As Liquid was completing his pre-flight checks, He noticed something strange out of the corner of his eye. It was JMac, back in flight 3 as usual, except his fighter didn't have it's shields turned on. Liquid wondered why, then he commed JMac up. "Jmac" said Liquid. "yeah?" JMac replied. "dude, turn on your shield!" Liquid exclaimed. "Oh yeah, thanks Liquid!" JMac replied, chuckling softly to himself. "no problem man, you have to remember to be less forgetful." As Aegis finished their pre-flight checks, they checked in with sk8. "Aegis 3 ready to go!" said Liquid. "Aegis 5 ready to go!" said Lonewolf. "Aegis 6 ready to go!" said Twin. "Aegis 8 ready to go!" said PJ. "Aegis 9 ready to go!" said Fallen. "Aegis 12 ready to go!" said JMac. Having heard all his flight members check in and give the go ahead, Sk8 instructed all of his members to enter hyperspace. As they headed into hyperspace, and the unknown conditions of the rebel base flashed through Liquid's mind. What if they are heavily armed? Liquid asked himself, then reconsidering, he felt that the Elite Aegis squadron should have no problem no matter how heavily armed the opposing forces are.

JMac glanced at his sensors and was disgusted by what he saw.  This wouldn't even be a small challenge.  The pirates had scrambled a flight of TIE_Wings to engage them.  It was almost insulting.  JMac powered up his lasers and got ready to go.  A few standard time units later the enemy fighters were in range.  JMac fired a dual laser blast at the leading ship.  His lasers slammed into the unsheilded craft, reducing it to space dust.  He saw the othr members of Aegis making similarly short work of the other craft.  As JMac flipped over a near craft, getting ready to come up behind, he glanced down and was startled by what he saw.  the ships had no pilots!  But that meant... "Break off, break off!," Jmac shouted as he pulled his ship into a spiraling turn.  A crimson laser blast seared past him.  JMac rechecked his sensors again.  The pirates were craftier then we had given them credit for.  The DIE_Wings, as they were often called, were nothing more then a ruse to draw their attention to the front.  That let a squadron of enemy headhunters, modified by the looks of them, to jump in behind Aegis squadron.  Not good. Jmac brought his lasers to bear on the closest headhunter and squeezed the trigger.

PJ had just vaporized a couple fighters, when a blast skipped off his shields zapping them very low. A last second barrell roll barely keeping following shots from ripping him to pieces. "Where the hell did they come from!?!?!?!" PJ screamed over the comm. Although he was able to get back around and into position to make the kill, the close call had caught him off guard and caused the Aegis pilot to take more care precautions. 'A decoy,' he thought to himself, 'this could be a bit tougher than I orignally thought.' A few seconds later, PJ had released three well placed blasts on his target and sent the cockpit spiralling through space. One more clean hit blew the headhunter sky high. Turning his attention to the next target, he watched his shields slowly replenish. Quickly glancing around, PJ made sure to much more careful and keep his eyes open. As he had seen before these pirates were full of suprises. As PJ grew nearer to the next fighter, he let go shot after shot...though they all seemed to be well placed, somehow this pilot was dodging them, not one or two, but every single one. The enemy fighter was only a couple clicks away when PJ noticed a small red thing come flying out the back of the fighter....A FLARE...a quick push of the joystick, kept PJ from certain death as he watched it glance off his hull...less than a foot from his windshield....

JMac spat out a curse through clenched teeth as he rolled.  A burst of crimson beams went by him, slightly to his left.  JMac looped around to try to get onto the enemy fighter's tail, but his foe matched his maneuver perfectly and fired off another volley of shots. "Feej, this guy is good," JMac muttered as he pulled his ship into another set of maneuvers, desperately trying to shake the enemy fighter off of his tail.  He pulled some energy from his sheilds and put it into his engines.  It left him vulnerable, but the sheilds wouldn't help if JMac couldn't get his tail clean.  Behind him, the other craft matched speed.  Knowing that the only way that the older headhunter could have done that was to pull down his own sheilds, Jmac pulled into a tight turn, firing off a flare as he went.  The other ship was so intent on duplicating the difficult manuever that he flew right into it.  He spun off, and Jmac took advantage of his inability to manuever to destroy his ship.  The battle wasn't an easy one, but it was slowly going towards the Vast Empire's direction.  JMac spun as he sensed a ship coming behind him and fired.  He bolts slammed into the offending headhunter, shattering it's cockpit.  What was left of the deceased pilot tumbled out.  JMac grinned.  This was fun.

Aegis 4ever!!!

Sk8 watched as JMac's lasers hit home, causing the A-wing to explode in an orange fireball. He began to think about how and why a Rebel Awing was out this far. He decided to worry about it later. "Ok Liquid, let's finish off that corvette." sk8 said as he looped back around toward their objective. Sk8 had a couple missles left, so he armed them and locked on to the corvette. He got a red crosshair and a tone, so he fired, watching them fly towards their target. The  two missiles impacted on the corvette's hull and the ship began to come apart. Happily sk8 checked his sensors to see that only two fighters remained and the one corvette, which was breaking for hyperspace. "The corvette is going for hyperspace, Aegis destroy it before it jumps. I don't want it to get out of here." sk8 shouted to his squadron. He switched to Liquid's channel and said, "Liquid, arm your missiles and go in for a run, I'll be right behind you." Liquid acknowledged and raced ahead of sk8. Sk8 saw his fighter send out tow pairs of missiles, then followed suit, sending his last pair of missiles toward the corvette. The Aurora Dawn moved in as well, firing madly at the fleeing corvette. Sk8 noticed a couple more blips on his scanners, missiles from other Aegis pilots. A smile cracked his face as he saw a couple missiles strike the hull. Sk8 decided to throttle up and finish it off with lasers. "Liquid, follow me in for a strafing run. We have to finish this thing off. Lonewolf, you and PJ get step up for a run and go in after we finish ours." "Gosh, leaving us seconds. You never let us have any fun sk8." Lonewolf responded back. He was obviously happy as well with the outcome so far. Sk8 and Liquid completed their strafing run and Loneowlf and Pj started thiers. PJ had been holding out on the missiles and hah two left. He armed those and fired them once he got a solid tone. The missiles stuck the hull and the corvette exploded. "Great work Aegis. Now, let's get out of here and see what else Riel has for us.  Follow the Aurora Dawn out and meet up with the rest of the fleet. I'm gonna met up with Riel to see what he can do find for us to do." sk8 said as his squadron finished up the last fighters.  Satsified with this mission, sk8 watched the corvette Auroa Dawn enter hyperspace and pulled his lever. The stars solidified into a tunnel of white light as he raced back toward the Vast Empire fleet.

Sk8 shutdown his TIE and climbed out of the cockpit. He proceeded to his room to hit the refresher. After a long shower, he decided to report in to Riel. He put on his uniform and made his way to the bridge. As sk8 slipped down the hallways of the Atrus, he got sidetracked, stopping at the bar. He saw JMAc and Liquid deep in an arguement, obviously drunk and went over to see what he could do to settle the issue. He approached Liquid and asked, "What's the problem Liquid?" "Liquid gave him a cold stare and answered, "JMac thinks he can beat me in pool. Isn't that the funniest thing you've heard?" He started laughing, but sk8 just smiled and approached the bar. There was no dispute to solve there'at least one he could solve. He ordered some Jawa Juice and chugged that down. He got a refill and did the same thing. After a couple more glasses, he paid the bartender and left for the bridge once again.

Liquid woke up the next morning, a little hungover, but all in the same condition as JMac. Liquid slid out of his bunk and shook JMac to wake him. JMac didn't move. "what?" Liquid thought to himself, "JMac usually wakes up easily." Liquid turned around to search for a glass of water or something in his bunk. As Liquid did this, JMac stood up, grabbed Liquid in a bear hug, and said "Hey, I think it's time for that pool game!" "OK." Liquid said, still having a slight headache, but feeling well enough to beat his friend in his favorite game. "let's go!" said JMac. As they walked to the pool hall, Liquid heard screaming. It was Fallen he had had yet ANOTHER nightmare. Liquid passed it off and kept walking with JMac. Liquid racked the balls as JMac prepared to crack them. JMac took a shot, and didn't sink anything. So then it was Liquid's turn. "1 ball, side pocket" Liquid said, taking his first strike. "yes!" said Liquid as the balls collided and the one ball went flying into the pocket. "well, looks like i'm still in the game" Liquid said, anxious to get this finished so that he could find out where the next mission was. "ok, 2 ball in corner pocket, 3 ball goes with it." Liquid said, sinking yet another shot. Liquid sank most of his balls, but he missed an incredibly easy shot, he was still a little shaky from last night, he presumed. "ok, my turn." Jmac said, taking the pool stick from Liquid. "now, i don't call the balls, and you never said that we have to, so here i go" "ok" Liquid said, as Jmac missed his shot. Liquid sunk his last 2 balls and hit the eight ball in, he had won, for the 20th straight time in a row against JMac. "OK, now, let's go see if anything good's gonna happen today!" Liquid said, running for the briefing room to see if Sk8 was waiting there. "Alright" Jmac said, increasing his running to keep up.

In the briefing room sk awaited his squadron's arrival. his new mossion was one of vital imporance as well. He watched as the Aegis squadron pilots assembled in he room. He approached the podium, papers inhis hands and Lonewolf at his heels. k Aegis, Ive got some new orders.Straight from Riel's hands"he began as he scanned the room. The pilots looked anxious o hear the new orders and some off them, most, looked a little hungover as well. "That pirate group we wiped out yesterday seems o have some powerful friends. A couple hours ago, the two carrack cruisers Havoc and Alumni were hit by a similar group of pirates. Our sources say they are allies of the clan we desroyed yesterday." "More pirates? Can't it be someone more interesting?" JMac whinned to his commander. "I hope they are better than hose pirates yesterday? I was so bored," joked Liquid. He began fo grin very sheepishly. "Well, they seem to me they will be. hey disabled he two carracks.  We are going in to recover them. We'll be escorting the escort frigate Malevolent

(ooc: sorry bout my lack of activity ill try to stay up to beat this time.) LoneWolf lay on his bed in his flight suit. He dangled his constructed lightsaber in his hands and stared up at the ceiling wondering how the mission was going to go. he knew that there was no better way to find out but go. a small alarm went off near the door panel and LW knew it was time to go. The door hissed open, and cool air hit his face. he walked cooly to the hangar bay and looked in to see the Tie Advanced lined up on the floor with the fighter claws that usually held them overhead. He walked over to his designated fighter, and began inspecting it. everything was in order according to what he remembered. Sk8 walked through the door then breifly looked over his fighter too. "OK" he said outloud, "lets get moving Aegis! time is of the essence!" LoneWolf nodded then got in the fighter. The systems slowly flickered to life and various computer and targeting screens stared back at him. LW launched of at full impulse out of the hangar bay. The fighter boomed a loud engine roar which disapeared once the fighter entered space. "Ok guys lets go!" LoneWolf said as he pulled the hyperdrive lever.

JMac leaned back into his chair as the white streaks that marked hyperspace flashed by his fighter.  Pirate, such an easy target.  Why did it have to be pirates.  First a wounded fleet, then pirates.  Was it too much to ask to want a challenge?  His cockpit beeped as he neared the end of his journey.  As JMac moved his hand towards the controls, his ship gave a shuddering lurch as his ship was wrenched out of hyperspace.  A blue glow washed over his figter, shorting out its electrical systems.  His sensor board exploded, sending shards of transparasteel everywhere. "Feej!," Jmac yelled in surprise and pain as the tiny shards punctured his flight suit.  Blood began flowing, and the surprised pilot looked up to see what had happened.  the sight was not a pleasent thing to behold.  The fighters of Aegis were floating, completely disabled.  Their lights were dimmed, but JMac knew the frustration that they had to be feeling.  Bright specks of light in the distance began moving closer.  The sheer number of them made Jmac groan in frustration.  There were dozens of them.  More then enough to give the brave pilots of Aegis a problem with their ships in full condition, but this?!? Sheilds down.  Weapons down.  Engines down.  Control down.  targeting computer down.  Sensors down. "Sithspit, does nothing work!" Working frantically, JMac pulled the board off of his control panel and began rewiring it, working against time as the pirate fleet moved closer and closer.

"COME ON, COME ON" Liquid shouted, as the lights began to flicker in his cockpit, "STAY WITH ME NOW!" he continued, as he flipped the switch that he was told shouldn't do anything. "never tell a computer geek that a button doesn't do something" he thought to himself, "they'll MAKE it do something." Liquid smiled as his full power came back and everything started to work again like nothing ever happened, he glanced back, and saw that the rest of his squadron members had also finished their repairs, although having some trouble catching up to the distanced Liquid and JMac. "JMac" said Liquid, straining his voice. "yeah?" said JMac, trying to focus on the deftly-moving pirates. "remember that time in the computer lab, like the day before i joined?" Liquid asked. "yeah," JMac said, "why?" "well, to make a long story short, these guys could be related to me." Liquid said, not knowing what to expect from JMac. "well, kin or not, kill 'em dead, show no mercy Liquid, they won't show any to you" JMac said, astounded by his friend's past. "Don't worry, i'll never forgive them for what they have done to me. They left my mother and me alone and cold, while they went out and got rich off of the republic, never again shall i show mercy on any one of their souls" Liquid said, feeling the anger inside of him growing, "I will avenge you mother!!!" shouted Liquid, dropping his shields, and going faster every second on what seemed to JMac like a suicide run. "What are you doing????" JMac shouted into his com. "REVENGE!!" Liquid shouted back, "why do you think I joined the Vast Empire?" "well, i didn't really know" said JMac. "well, finally, you do, now, make sure everyone knows not to show any sign of mercy or pain, or suffering, they will take full advantage of it, they're all telepathic." Liquid said, making sure JMac heard him clearly. "ok" JMac said, telling the rest of the squadron the news.

(OOC: GO AEGIS!!) "AAAHHHH!!!!" Liquid shouted, as he blew another one of the pirates into dust, suddenly, a song popped into his head, and he just couldn't stop himself from singing. "Another one bites the dust woo-ha another one bites the dust" "Don't quit your day job" JMac said, followed by cheers from his fellow squadron members. Liquid pulled his craft into a sharp turn to avoid the lasers that were being fired at him, he quickly jammed the switch in his cockpit to quad-fire, it was time to show these guys a thing or two. Liquid pulled off 3 quick bursts at the craft he was following, but they missed, each and everyone, even though his targeting computer indicated a dead lock. "it must still be a little fried" Liquid thought to himself, messing around with a few wires while shooting with his other hand. Liquid connected the blue wire to the green one that was labeled "don't touch" by some stupid person. "If i don't touch, how will i know what it does?" Liquid thought to himself, hastily connecting the 2 wires.  Liquid then pulled off 2 more shots, this time dead center. "YES!!" shouted Liquid, he had solved his problem. Liquid quickly zoomed around, taking a shot here, and taking a shot there, these pilots sure were good, but not as good as Aegis obviously, every once in a while, someone in Aegis would slip a little and one of the pirates would get behind them, but in the end, Liquid knew that the pirates would never stand a chance against Aegis. "AEGIS FOREVER!!!" shouted Liquid, throttling up to match the speed of the closest craft.
