I just thought that the Vast Empire could have a small youth brigade. Made up of (in character) teens who were interested in the VE or sons and daughters of someone already serving in the VE.

Well, there's canonical precedent for such organizations in Palpatine's Empire...I guess it's just something that wouldn't come up a lot in the sort of stories we tell.

Perhaps they could do some menial work, loading supplies, cleaning stuff, running around and taking people orders, post, etc.

I imagined it as younger teen characters choosing what they'd be interested and shadowing a pilot if they wanted to become a starfighter pilot. They wouldn't be allowed in missions because imagine a 14 year old working the controls of an Interceptor. The Mandalorians did it but I doubt it'd make much practical sense here.

Heck, I may make an Army character in the latter stages of the program and detail his transfering to the stormie corps. It'd open up CD and it'd eliminate the "why did I join the VE," that we have to explain, whether it's my choice, being a captured criminal, an NR dissident, etc.

Well I was thinking something like a small subdivision of the Navy or Army.

I was mainly thought of this idea since I think it would personally be easier for me to RP as a teenager (as you all know I'm 13).

And I think the 16 year old characters would be competent enough to do missions...

I kind of agree with Val. I don't see the sense in this. As much as we are fantasy based, we are also logic based. And 16 year olds entering battle is not very logical. Nor even in fantasy is it viewed as logical, unless of course, it's an anime or the 16 year olds are vampires or something. In the Star Wars universe, we are dealing with normal beings. 16 year olds are rarely competent enough mentally and physically to stand up to the strain of battles.

I understand your point Echelon. Being thirteen, it is hard to understand what a 20-30 year old would think and feel. But an RP is all about being someone you are not. Sure, it takes practice, Eche, but I'm sure you could do it. And as Trick mentioned, it does seem like only a story idea or maybe even an NPC base. But I would think of the teens as recruits-to-be instead of battle ready soldiers.

Using them for missions wouldn't end well in-universe and would be pretty monstrous. While that never stopped the Empire from doing anything, the VE does see itself as "the good guys".

Now, indoctrinating them to be the next generation of stormtroopers/citizens, to report spies among their family and friends, and to generally be loyal...

I never thought I'd see the day when the VE got its own "Hitler youth" program going.

Do we get to conscript them when the war begins to go badly?
