It was practicaly the  middle of the night when the troopers were loaded up onto the shuttle. Amidst the grumbling and yawns, rations were tossed out. Lucky leaned against one side as the shuttle took off with a low rumble.Everyone was dressed in regular clothes for off time.

"Uh, so where are we going this damn early?" Jelly bean asked with a yawn. "Rushing us without a chance to grab anything."

"That was the point." Lucky chirped in.

"You'll see in a few moments. In the meantime we had did a little digging on each of you." Saphira began. Her silver eyes flickered to each member. "Each of you have different qualities that make you different. That makes each squad unique." A short pause as the ship slowly started to decend. "Each of you also hold something personal close to you."

The Twi'lek smiled as that caught their attentions. Ae flickered her tail and she couldn't tell if the women was amused, irritated or both. The guys surly looked shocked and tried to hide it  behind some male mochoness.

"I don't know what your talking about." MadMan replied. About that time the ship touched down and the doors opened. They all walked down and were suprised to find themselves on the other side of the major city. The ship was on a open field and they were on the bare outskirts and staring down at basic backpack camping gear.

"Don't touch those just yet." Lucky ordered. "Now, as Saph was saying, we know what is precious, to you. During the last twenty-four hours we have taken your precious." Lucky smiled and looked over the troopers faces.

"Each bag is marked with your name on it. Inside will be a riddle or clue that you will have to solve to find the next clue. Some will lead to the city but all of you will be out in the woods before too long." Saphira informed. "You will have no weapons, say the knife that is in the gear. This will also be a basic survival test. We all depend too much on modern weapons. Time to go back to basics. I don't expect everyone to be an expert, but I assume you all know how to start a fire, hunt and know how to boil water."

"Do you get perverse pleasure out of this?"MadMan replied with crossed arms. His stick propped up against him.

"No, this is an excercise.. By the way, you don't get to take that either. no crutches." Saphira replied, pointing to his weapon. He had managed to grab it before getting on the shuttle.

"You all have a time limit of three and a half to four days to find what has been taken from you." Lucky announced as a cool wind started to stir up.

"What if we don't?" Questioned Ae.

Saphira only shrugged. "Then I guess it'll be longer then that before anyone sees their item again. By the way, just because this sounds easy, dosen't mean it will be. You're all dismissed. I suggest  you all get started."

OOC:
Inside the bag is the first clue. A  riddle. You all will have the same one each time. How you take the answer will differ where you take your character each time. We'll make this fun and I'll have it be star wars trivia. Not all will be riddles. Once you have the answer, use it to where the next clue could be in the story. If the answer is a drink of sorts, then it's probably a cantina for example. Have fun.

First Riddle:
I am not married, though I am wed.
Luke wanted someone like me, it is said.
I can assist in maintenance and care,
Since I am capable of extensive repair.

Who am I?

OOC:
Inside your camping gear you will find:
1 bedroll
1 basic knife
flint- enough to start three fires.
1 tin bowl
1 tin cup
Rations for one day

Everything else you will have to get off the land.

No weapons of any kind will be used. Remember, survival skills. Use the land around you. No buying anything in the city either. We are on our base planet Tadath.

As the ship lowered itself, Lucky leaped off the ramp and landed in the bush. She already knew whta all this is about and had the added bonus of being a Scout, basic survival was second nature to her.

Before anyone could ask her where she was going, she was crawling away amidst long grasses and thick trees. Saphira was the only person who knew what she was doing slinking off in the distance, seemingly off to nowhere. saph was going to be doing the same thing...Or something similar anyway.

By now the noise the ship engines were making was almost non-existent because it was lifting off and leaving them there and because she was much further than where they had landed.

Along th way, she covered her tracks to confuse the troops and at one juncture where many trails led, she decided she would set a trap in the middle of that small clearing.

Using her combat knife she carved out a long and wide hole in the ground, set the knife aside and started scooping up the loosened dirt with her hands. This was going to be long and tedious work so she hoped the guys wouldn't come upon her anytime soon. The hole wasn't that big per se but she intended on it being deep enough, at least a few feet.

Under the hard surface, the earth was quite loose which enabled her to start doggy-digging her way down. Not really the best and most fashionable way of doing things but it would do the job quickly and efficiently and in the end help her achieve what she wanted. It seemed like forever, it was probably an hour later when she stood up and stretched. By no she had dug a good two feet, if she went a little deeper it would be enough.

A few minutes later, she came across a little bit of water which made things start to get muddy. Water could always be found a few feet underground, no matter where you were. She decided to dig a little more to make things a little muddier then stopped. This was good enough.

Clambering out of the hole, she looked at the few low mounds of dirt that surrounded her. I'll have to do something about those... walking over to one, she spread the dirt as much as possible to make it look flat. grabbing her knife, she did all the other small mounds and soon was faced with a piece of land full of freshly-spread, recently dug dirt.

Taking her knife, she started cutting down long, thin branches she would spread over the hole and surrounding area in the hopes of providing a good camouflage for her freshly made trap. Taking care to spread things evenly and make it looked like it had been always been there, she smelled the thick smell of rains. This rain would help her hide evidence a little more and make things slicker, the smell of fresh dirt would mingle with every other wet smell so no one would have any idea.

As she was finishing up, it started to pour. After shifting a few long, leafy branches over to one side she stood and admired her handiwork amidst the wetness around her. Satisfied, she made sure she hadn't left anything behind before carefully walking away, making sure to not break any branches an that the ones she had cut had been masked by surrounding dead wood.

Trudging along in the downpour, she could periodically hear branches cracking behind her. She knew for a fact that she wasn't being hunted, maybe someone thought she had their precious possessions and wanted to see where she would hide them. The ridiculous idea made her smile widely. Men...

The ground beneath her had steadily gotten soggier until soon she was walking in muck rather than solid round. Not far off she could hear rushing water, she guessed she was near a spring and suspected that the spring in question was overflowing at present.

The air was thick with the earthy, salt-like smell of standing around in woodlands in the rain. At this point she was slipping along more than she was walking and soon decided she needed to seek shelter. A loud crash could be hard a little ways behind her. She still felt followed...Whomever was taking on a stalking role will feel sorry in a few minutes.

She kept her slow movements onward for a few more minutes until she found a sufficient hiding spot. The tree was tall and broad enough to support her and assure as much comfort as can be provided by  a tree. Not wasting any more time, she jumped up, caught the lowest branch and hoisted herself up solely using her upper-body strength.

Making herself comfortable quickly, she glimpsed down at the ground a ways below her and saw a head pass under the tree, stop, whomever was down there was listening to every sound there was to listen to. In this weather she couldn't tell whom it was, she could make out however what identified that person as a member of the Iron Horse squad.

She wondered for a time if he had stepped into the rap she had laid out or not, he didn't look too dirty or scratched up so she had a hunch that he had narrowly missed the pit she had so carefully dug.

it's kinda quiet here....hae any of the other guys decided to get off their asses yet?

Out of the corner of her eye, she didn't miss the ASL taking her leave while the others  where still in a bit of shock at the task ahead. Already the clock was ticking and the twi'lek was putting things into her mindset for the fun ahead. After all, nothing ever said the  couldn't have a little fun of their own.

Taking her own chance while backs were turned, Saphira vanished. Her silver  gaze peaking out from a set of trees as she watched a trooper turn to see that they were utterly alone. The others noticing and looking around to see if their leader had  just moved  up to the ship to grab something.  It didn't take long for the sounds of a squabble to carry over the wind and make her shake her head. Come on guys, get your priorities straight and move. Theres plenty to do.

Her lips curling up into a smile as she turned and drew off into the direction she had see Lucky go off to. Having an idea where she was going, the female slipped into a slightly off direction to mess with her. Knowing very well there would be traps set along the way that she also needed to work on. After all, everyone will be heading in this direction soon enough.

The clues will lead them out here. Even if they came down the path she was now, it wouldn't matter. Licking her lips as Saphira stopped briefly to start her own set of nasty surprises.  It was rather simple. A vine, slightly raised and tied  between two trees and gently covered  with some  dead earth.  Managing to do this to several steps, someone would manage a face plant. Careful to cover the tracks as best as she could, saph once more moved on when the rain started.

"Sith Spit." She cursed.

That wasn't what she needed. The rain pelting down was more annoying, but it still gave a slight advantage as she  listened and thought she heard something soon up ahead. However, she paused, and decided to circle around. Lucky was near and she could tell by the tingle of emotion she felt through her lek.  With the rain giving her slight aid, she was carefull to avoid branches as best she could when she saw Lucky. With a smile, Saphira approached and then drew to a crouch before  leaping out and yelling.

"BOO!"

Lucky startled and almost fell off her perch. It had been Saph that was under her the entire time. With a growl, she swatted at her Squad Leader playfully.

"Since you're here we might as well go about setting up some more traps and make sure they follow their clues right"

Saph started to move ahead as Lucky dropped down from her tree and followed. The rain was really coming down now, she wondered how long it would last. They trudges through the muddy terrain, Lucky listening intently for any sounds coming from behind them. As they were approaching a cluster of rocks some loud swearing could be heard off in the distance. This made both women giggle.

"Wonder which trap they fell into"

"No clue, guess we'll find out sooner or later"

Near the rocks Lucky found some pretty long and sturdy-looking sticks. "Hey Saph, I think we could do something with this"

"Like what?"

"We sharpen an end of each stick, dig a small hole and bury the blunt ends in the ground leaving the points out. Take a vine, tie it around one stick, do the same with the other but not so tight. The idea is to make the person trip over their own feet, feet falling from underneath them The plan's not to seriously injure them but let's at least make them a bit miserable, eh?"

"Sounds good. Let's get to work"

And so the hunt began…or was it more of a game like Hide and Seek? Skjoll hated forests, it was the roots, the soft soil, and the fact that there was one particular mission that make made him uneasy around them. Well it was bright out still, Madman felt he could take his time – no need to rush in blindly after all. If it were the dunes of Tattooine, he’d do just the same while making a good deal of progress. Keep his head up, and his wits about him though he really had to stop, flex his new leg “Ah…them Imperial medical staff sure knew what they were doing. Isn’t that right, Leggy? I thought so.” He’d speak to the limb that he had been reunited with after a painful couple of weeks of healing and therapy.

Now all he had to do was figure out this first riddle, a clue. “Aww, but this is Impossible! No one could ever figure this out! Certainly not me, but maybe I will humor her…wherever in this forsaken rat’s nest she may be hiding…” He’d sigh, as he looked it over, scratching his head “Ah.” He’d ponder it over, but what was it that he had come to realize? Did he look over the words at all, did he figure it out? If anyone had been listening, they would get no details but as he nonchalantly stuffed it back in his bag as he looked around.

“Wed…Wed…AHA!” He’d point to a peculiarly shaped stone with decrepit vine’s hanging all about. He would kneel by the rock, flexing his fingers softly he would begin digging around the rock, for a good amount of time, that was before he noticed something dangling nearby, something tethered from a rope-like vine from a tree.

“Well…er, that must be it. Hanging there, ready for me to pluck…like an apple..or an Ewok.” He’d rant mildly to himself as he walked over to grab it, before tripping a tripwire and falling into a pit.

The work was a little tedious, they had to make sure to not let themselves fall into their own trap. Saph had the few next set of riddles handy, this information would help them carve a path through these bushes and hopefully this wild goose chase would soon be over.

The rain had subsided a little and she was starting to get tired, they needed a place to sleep for the night. No sense walking around and possibly springing all their traps in the moonlight.
As they kept walking she looked around and spotted a good sized tree.

"Saph, stop. we'll end up killing ourselves tonight if we keep going like this, let's stop here and make shelter. Grab me a few long, thick branches and I'll  start making us a quick shelter. No fire tonight though, everything's too wet to get one started."

"Very well, let's get to it"

As Lucky walked to her chosen tree, she spotted a few good tree branches on her way and took them one by one, piling them near the tree. No vines would be required, she suspect it wouldn't be windy tonight.

Working methodically, she took the branches she had found and started leaning them on a slight angle against the tree, the branches would go around the tree and there'd only be a small opening to let them through, this opening she decided would face  a low branch. The huge leaves would provide a decent door cover.

It didn't take too long, withing the hour the main structure was complete. she went and helped Saph look for more branches except this time she wanted really leafy ones, so that it made a good enough tarp and it didn't rain as much or at all as they rested.

"I should have known..." Madman muttered as it took more then a few tries to climb out of the pit. His new leg still took time to get use too and by the time he got out he was furious. "When I get my hands on those two.."

Images of dumping both women into a puddle of mud came to mind for starters as he managed to grab the next box of a clue. Carefully, he made sure they hadn't rigged that to be trapped. Knowing Saph, she'd have the perverse pleasure at having something explode just to goad him. The small case clicked open, and only seemed to hiss. Revealing only a small paper with scribbled words on them.

What has two banks, but no credits?

"Another riddle..When this is over I'm going to need a drink.."

Madman grumbled and dropped the box. Making his way past the hole and looking carefully in case there was another nearby.

--------------------------------

"I really wonder who triggered the first trap." Saphira thoughtfully spoke. A cruel smile played on her face as she helped Lucky with the last bits of the weather proofing.

"Credit says it was JellyBean." Lucky replied.

"I bet it was Madman. But you're on." Saph replied.

Both women laughed and  took out their own packs and started a fire. It was  cold enough they were starting to get a chill and the sun was already starting to wane on their first  day.

"If they think this is bad, they are in for a real eye opener in the coming weeks." Lucky replied as  she concentrated on sparking the fire.

"Well, at least we're near base. I haven't heard anything explode yet. Or calls for help. So either they are doing alright, or they are plotting against us." Saphira smiled as the last spark ignited the fire.

"We'll see.  It won't be too much longer before we start to hear them. The real fun will start in the morning." Lucky gave a devious smile.

“Hah…so funny…” He let out a sharp sigh as his sharp tongue hissed out a most displeased murmur as he climbed his way out, brushing the soil from his face and teeth as he snatched the bit of parchment. Staring up at the sky, he wondered how many of these little clues he would have to find, many or few?  Rubbing his aching back from the little surprise yoga he had to do, on account of falling on his face he’d decide to snatch a loose branch, as he’s carve off the stubs and branches off the stick as he walked and pondered over the context of the riddle.

“Hate these little…riddles. So misleading…” He’d mutter in an irate fashion. He had plenty of time he figured, and yet not enough time. The ache to procrastinate numbed his mind, the feeling trying to seduce him into resting, wasting his time, and the mild headache didn’t bother helping either, just hanging it’s load on the bothersome thoughts that plagued his head. One thing he was glade – that he slept with his metal ‘face’ on during the night and had even made modifications to it.

He was quite proud.

“You know who could use a bank or two, leggy?” He’d ask, as if his leg had any sort of lips, mind, or…well, as if it was a separate entity entirely. “Rivers, that’s what.” He’d answer, apparently through some wild stretch of the imagination he’d managed to find the second hint even if the presentation was off. He just had to listen for it, the sound of running water, the white noise of actively running water striking rocks, logs and any other stray, natural foliage. Had to hear it…just had to catch that distinct noise.

After all, it had to have a noise – even if he’d never actually been in one or near one before. But at last, he heard the thing and like a moth to open flam, he dug his boots into the soft, fertile soil and while he did so he passed by trees and until he could stare at it. Though he felt rather uninterested, he felt a lack of excitement for this natural stream, a disappointment.

“Well then…now where is that next Hint?”

Jelly bean and the others had already had their fun tracing through the city most of the day.  Aeos had to smack Jelly once for trying to sneak a favor from a local salesmen for some fresh fruit. Tempting as it was, they had their rations and had their orders. By the time they had made it to the woods, Jelly was miserable and it was already near dusk.

"How many more clues are there?" Jelly questioned. Kicking a stick as he  decided to take a few steps ahead of her.

"How would I know that? Just keep walking. Working together will be better then tracing all over on our own." Ae replied.

Jelly sighed and turned, taking a  few more steps before tripping over the first set of vines that were hidden. Falling forward as he hit his side and rolled with a grunt. Jelly kicked his legs free and stood as Ae started to laugh.

"Son of a -" He bent down to see the crude looking trap.

"Looks like we're on the right track." She replied. "We might want to look for more. If those two are setting traps..."

"You don't need to tell me twice." Jelly replied, rubbing his leg and then stood.

They found they next set and moved on. Soon finding the hole that Madman had fallen in. Looking around they did find another box with the  next clue in it and were careful opening it. Knowing that from the last ones, it could be trapped or have some kind of nasty surprise in it.  Finding the clue, they  both knew it lead to the river.

"Well, that had to be the easiest clue they gave us." Jelly surmised. Taking a hand to wipe some rain from his brow.

"Nothing is easy as it seems. Just because they made the clue easy dosen't mean anything." Ae replied. "I think we need to start thinking about a spot for the night and a way to start a fire. As much as it's been raining we need to find some wood that will still burn."

-----------------------

The sound of running water might had been a blessing if it wasn't already raining.  Madman looked around to see if he could spot the next clue. However, it was already starting to get dark and the stream wasn't exactly in one spot.

"Damn it! They could have hidden the clue  anywhere here. I'm going to have to walk up and down the bank to look for it." He cursed and  nearly snapped the makeshift weapon in half.

Thunder was then heard as Madman looked up through the trees. Great. As if it can't get any worse tonight. The sound and feel of a storm was rolling in. It looked as if his leaders picked a perfect day for them to be out playing in the woods. However, he wanted his item back and so did the others.

It wouldn't do him any good to try and look for the clue in the dark. Not unless he wanted to freeze and wallow in the cold all night and end up in a Bacta Tank. Looking around he saw what he needed for the night. Some boulders stacked on one another but formed a roof/ cave feeling. Large enough for him to sit under and be safe from the rain. Now all he would have to do is manage a fire and get settled for the evening.

It’s so great to be alone, isolated from everyone, feet grinding soil underfoot. Wretched, damp, soil. the Soldier thought to himself as his sight cast upward into the raging heavens, staring into the cloudy form of wrath, reflecting a fickle god’s anger and irritation as those grey flickering clouds stretched ever closer to they’re position, the stretch of forest laden with traps and clues to what ever game they’re leader had decided to impose. With storms came rain, flying water of all things and always it came in areas that  never needed it, not like sand and deserts. The Clouds met with the river, he had to find this clue and fast though he was curious if he were the only one who was succeeding in finding these – were there more that were hidden that littered the fackin’ landscape?

It wasn’t really his problem as he stepped into the shallow river, resisting the current as his boots dug into the murky soil, soles grinding against pebbles and stones that paved the depths of the River. Gonna get wet anyways…gotta hurry an’ get this thing, then get to the cave. he’d ponder as he grunted and resisted the natural force of the current. But there! He saw it, dangling off a limb but was it trapped like the last? He glanced down at his leg, as he remembered the searing heat before his body went numb, limp, which ended with the seering eruption of pain over every layer of flesh, bone, and tissue and remembering trying to use that missing leg to no avail. It wasn’t pleasant but the pain was so stimulating – even a Madman like him could learn from such trauma.

“Well I’d better hurry. No time to get my Umbrella out.” He chimed as he began to step lightly, now if only he could carry a big stick too. That…gave him a great Idea, but he managed to delicately find a tripwire trap, a wry smile crossed his lips from underneath his mask as he crouched down and with his eyes he began to observe the carefully laden trap, before he disabled it to walk past and snatch the next clue to observe it.

With it dedicated to memory, by that tree on the wrong side of the river, the rain began to pour, the winds began to blow, and the sky began to thunder with it’s angry bellowing. He quickly made his way backwards, his clothes getting drenched as he hopped into the river and hotfoot it – grabbing small branches, kindling, as well as a couple good sized logs for keeping it going where he managed to seek refuge within a cave but not going too terribly deep before setting up camp with a roaring fire in which to dry his clothes off.

“Damn woman. You smoke like a chimney” Jelly commented from underneath their cramped space of dryness. Aeos pulled one cigarette free with her teeth and pulled a log from the fire to lit it. She smirked at Jelly.

“I’m not addicted. I only smoke on missions. Besides, this is a nice little space for chilling.” She muttered while throwing a glance around her.

They managed to scavenge a good deal of flora on the river banks and had gather massive leaves from the tall phoenix trees nearby. The leaves were about one meter in length and half a meter in width. When freshly plucked the leaves were extremely soft and frail.  Give them a few weeks to rot on the ground and you had materials as sturdy as wood in your hands.  Which is exactly what Aeos and Jellybean had fashioned for themselves. A little roof of the leaves woven and held together with vines, and fresh phoenix leaves for mattresses.

While Aeos was seeing to their little humble abode, Jelly had busied himself with fishing. Of course completing all these tasks in the rain were no joke and both troopers were fairly annoyed with the whole predicament. But a few hours next to the fire with a good meal of fish quickly washed out the mood.

Aeos pulled from her cigarette again and took a deep breath reveling in the fresh  musky air of earth and rain.  Around them it was pouring, or as Aeos preffered in her native. It was saucing.
The two troopers were settling in for the night when they suddenly heard a scream.

Aeos bolted upright along with Jelly. Their combat knives ready.
“What was that?”

“Human. Definitely human.” Jelly responded.
“Could be one of the other guys fell into a trap.” Aeos muttered.
Jelly groaned

“I’m not going.”

“Yes we are. Come on.” She grabbed him by his sleeve and pulled him alongside with her away from the fire, the warmth and their shelter of dryness. Within sheer minutes they both were soaked as they started their usual tyranny of bundo-bashing.

They followed the second scream that followed and quickly managed to hone onto the source.

Aeos arched an eyebrow amused at the drenched form of Bellator trying to climb against the wall of dirt surrounding him. He fell into one of the traps.

“Didn’t think I’d see you so soon kiddo.” She muttered bending down and extending a hand to him. Jelly followed and they started pulling him out.

The fresh recruit flabbergasted at seeing his old Drill Sergeant only shook his head and groaned.

“Saph told me to meet Iron Horse at the coordinates she provided to me. I never thought it would in the middle of a bluddy jungle.” He  muttered.

“That is Saph for you.” Aeos sighed. Bellator only scoffed at this pulled himself to his feet. He looked miserable as he stood there drenched in water and mud.  Aeos glanced at herself and Jelly. They weren’t much better of themselves.

“Come on.  Bellator, you can camp out with us for the night. Lets get you cleaned up and fed.”

Lucky scrambled out of the shelter, stretched and ate a quick breakfast before completely putting the fire out. As she stared at the sky, which was slowly lighting up to its light blue color, Saph walked out of the shelter and soon both women were on their way to the river.

The river itself wasn't too far off but they had to deviate their course slightly as to not be found by the others at which point she assumed they'd be jumped on.

They came across an area of forest which had been burnt recently, some trees had scorch marks, others were either completely disintegrated or fell during the inferno. The ground looked like a giant fireplace and a heavy feeling hung ever present in the air.

"Let's get out of here" Saph spoke up as she shuddered.

"Agreed, we have a fair amount of ground to cover still"

Soon after, Luckystar could hear rushing water. The sound was faint but it was there. at this time of day, everything was up and about. birds were chirping, insects were buzzing, unseen forest animals were scurrying about their daily tasks, all seemed as it should be.

A short while later, she could see the glimmering of the river. Now all they needed to do was figure out a way across. Lucky remembered seeing a fairly good-sized log lying around a few paces back, it could serve them well.

Hurrying past Saph, she went and found her treasure and soon after was dragging it past Saphira's staring form and dropped it at the bank, in front of the rushing water.

"We could use this as a bridge, it's not rotted. Now all we need to find  is the right place to put it and set up our traps on the other side of this river"

"What are we standing around for? Let's get moving!" Saph chirped enthusiastically with the anticipation of the good fun ahead.

Accidental thread-o-mancy... My bad.
The Hunter only becomes the Hunted if he doesn't do the job right the first time.
