Fyre Stone walked down one of the long, narrow, mostly unoccupied metal hallways of the orbital spaceport that revolved around Duros. The hallway was set on the outside of the spaceport, and was used as a quick way to get from the bar to the dancer’s rooms. For this reason, it was guarded at both ends by four incorruptible guards, and five along each side, throughout in inside of the hallway. At night, after their shift, this hallway would be crowed with the dancers and their partner’s for the night. When Fyre had first walked down here during the day, she had wondered why the Duros had built this hallway in the first place. It looked disused and dirty. Why didn’t the dancers just use the hallways the patrons used? Fyre Stone had thought of asking another dancer or her temporary escort, but she didn’t want to make a fool of herself. However, she soon found the answer to her unspoken question, when the end of the night shift came: All of the twenty sum odd dancers (it was a large, multi-chambered bar that they danced in) had paired up with a man for the night. Some of the “couples” were of the same species, some were not. Fyre did have some offers, but not only was she confused, she liked to be somewhat professional, and had denied them all. The hallway that night was crammed full of the dancers and their partners. If all of these people were let loose into the patron hallways, there would be jams and complaints. The spaceport wanted to keep a semi-professional image for their dancers, so they had built this hallway. Miss Stone soon learned from that experience and either worked later and got more credits, or got excused earlier.

On this particular day, Fyre had been requested by four Hutts to dance privately for them. This shift was in the morning, and she was done before most of the dancers were up. Fyre knew this because not only did she travel in a large dance crew and so knew her fellow dancers, but she met few dancemates heading towards the bar to see where and who they would be dancing for. It was quiet and Fyre enjoyed it. She could hear her footsteps resonating up and down the hallway, as the sound waves bounced of the metal sides of the hallway. It would be her final dance she knew, and Fyre felt mixed emotions about it. Fyre had decided to join the Stormtrooper Corps a while back. There was a part of her that would miss the easy credits and male attention, but she knew she could do so much more with her life. Fyre glanced out one of the few windows along the hallway. The planet was brightened by the sun, which was behind the orbital spaceport. Duros could almost be considered beautiful at this moment in time. Fyre could have stood their forever, but she had to pack, before her shuttle came for her later in the day.

Walking quickly to her room, she said goodbye to the guards and strolled into her room. She changed into something a bit more practical than her dancer outfit, and threw everything she owned into her pack. Her hand hesitated over her dancer outfit, and threw it as well.

“Why not?” she thought to herself. “There’s still room for more things.”

Fyre walked to the cantina, and grabbed herself a drink. She knew the bartender, so she didn’t have to pay. She sat their in silence, thinking about what was to come. Would she fit in? How hard would it be? Thoughts raced through her head about her near future. Fyre Stone finished her drink and walked to a nearby window. She looked out, and, still thinking about the morrow, lost herself in her thought, as Fyre stared at the stars around the starport.

It was sometime before Fyre realized someone was also looking out of the window beside her. She glanced to her left, and looked at the stranger.

“You interested in stars too?” Fyre asked.

Startled by the question, Lucky  looked at the young woman beside her and smiled. "I find that stars allow one to empty their thoughts into them and they will still show brightly, like a sort of bottomless well."

She turned her face back to watching the stars, letting her thoughts flow freely, the young woman beside her seemed to be doing the same.

"How did you come to be here?" Lucky asked the woman, still looking out the viewport.

"I work here, well...used to, I'm going to become a Stormtrooper soon or am at least planning to."

"It's great, your squad becomes your family after a while you'll enjoy it, you'll see."

A wide smile crossed her face as the other woman's eyes widened.

"I'm a First sergeant in the Corps, was just coming back from a short voyage, name's Luckystar."

"It's nice to meet you, mine's Fyre."

The two turned back to the viewport. From the corner of her eye, Fyre examined the first sergeant. Fyre hadnt even made her second stop towards becoming a Stormtrooper, and already she had made a connection with the Corps. Fyre noticed the other didn't have a drink, and, as she had just finished her own, asked Luckystar if she wanted one.

"It's on me. I'm friends with the bartender, so I get them for free. Have you tried the local stuff? Its pretty good, and you can't get it any where else in the galaxy." Fyre said, with a hopeful smile.

"Sure, why not?"Luckystar replied.

With that, Fyre excused herself, crossed the relatively large room, and approached the bar. She was stopped by a couple of people, but politely excused herself. When Fyre finally reached the bar, she ordered two of the local brews.

"Finally got yourself a man Fyre?" the bartender asked, jokingly. "Which one is it? Is it that rodian over there in the corner? Or is it that rotund twi'lek sitting at the nearest table, starring at you?"

Fyre didn't have to turn around to know who he was talking about. She knew who the regulars were, and what they looked like. The rodian was a spice dealer, but no one told the the law enforcers. The cantina got a cut of all the profits he made, which was quite a staggering amount. The fat twi'lek was an admirer of Fyre, and had often tried to woo her, so to speak. He often boasted about his lekku, but Fyre didn't care. Trad, the bartender, knew about both of them, which was probably why he chose those two.

"No Trad, I'm not ordering for a man. You know how I'm leaving later today to join the Stormtrooper Corps?"

"Yeah, everyone knows about that. Your boss was in here ranting about that fact yesterday, in his drunken state. Even the band stopped playing so they could listen in."

"Great, that wasn't what I wanted. I was hoping to slip out of here nice and quiet like."

Fyre glanced back to the viewport she had been standing at with the first sergeant. Luckily, she was stil standing there, looking out towards the stars. Fyre turned back towards Trad.

"Anyway, I've met a first sergeant from the Corps. I've offered to buy her a drink. So, to be a good host, can I get those drinks now, and bring them to her without any further delay?"

"Sure thing, sunshine. Coming right up," Trad said, winking as he turned around. Trad was the only human male that Fyre had known that could contain his feelings so well. Fyre knew that Trad loved her, but it wasn't professional for the bartender and a dancer to be a couple. Soon enough, Trad turned back, and set three drinks onto a hovertray. Fyre shot a confused look at Trad. "I'm on my break as of now. The droids can handle this place until I return," he said, obviously reading her facial expression.

The two walked back, hovertray following. Trad slinked an arm around Fyre's waist. Fyre just rolled her eyes. "Are you going to come and see me off later today? I leave in about another four standard hours." Trad didn't verbally respond, but when Fyre glanced at him, she saw that he was nodding. When they neared Luckystar, Fyre escaped from Trad, and approached the first sergeant.

"Sorry to keep you waiting Luckystar. Is it ok if Trad here joins us? He's the bartender here, and a... good friend of mine. Here, try this, and tell me what you think," Fyre said, as Trad passed the drink to Luckystar. As Luckystar sipped her drink, Trad slipped closer to Fyre, standing behind her. Being 6'4" in height, he towered over her, and could easily see over Fyre's head. The pair stood like that, as they waited for Luckystar's opinion.

Sitting at the Bar, Senior Chief Petty Officer Rorran "Slasher" Gorma looks around as he sips his drink, watching as the bartender talks to two women across the Bar, one is obviously a member of the Stormtrooper Corps, and the other, while he does not know her, has the figure of a dancer, but wears the loose clothing favored by new recruits at the academy. Glancing at his chrono he realizes he needs to hurry and get to his shuttle for pre-flight checks. Tossing the bar droid a credit chip, Slasher stands up and heads out toward the spaceport.

"It's fantastic! What is this stuff?" Luckystar said.

Fyre, with a smile on her lips, replied "I think I'll let Trad explain the minor details. He is the bartender after all, and knows all the technical terms."

Trad was quite happy at being given the spotlight. He moved around Fyre and spoke. “Well miss first corporal lord sir ma’am high person,” he began with a low bow. He raised his right hand above his head and waved it around for dramatic effect. Fyre elbowed him in the ribs, which immediately caused him to snap back upright. “Well I never!” Trad said, with a slight tone of indignation. “Anyway, basically what we are all drinking is pure, refined, lasonay from the planet Duro. It’s quite good, no?.”

“Well, yes, but what is lisonie?” the first corporal responded, mispronouncing the word.

“If I told you, you… well two things would happen. You wouldn’t believe me, and you would also spit it out all over the nice clean floor.” Trad said.

Fyre glanced down. The floor was in fact not clean. It looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for over a standard month, much to her disgust. “Trad, you know how much I obsess over cleanliness. Why is the floor….”

“Because, sunshine,” Trad said, interrupting Fyre. “I’m not paid to clean the floors, and the last droid that the big boss man bought went ka putz within the first shift. He has decided that the floor will get cleaned by the first person who complains about it.”

“Oh,” both women said, glancing around the room. Fyre’s gaze settled upon the fat twi’lek sitting near the bar. He was still staring at her, but this time, he was stroking his lekku. Fyre shuddered. “Blah.”

Trad knew what she meant, but Luckystar gave her a funny glance. “See that rotund twi’lek sitting at a table near the bar?” Fyre explained. “He… well lets just say that if I was ever intoxicated, her would be the first to scoop me up and take me to his quarters.

Luckystar glanced at the twi’lek, and also shuddered. “I know,” Fyre said.

After the three stood there for a bit, looking out the view port, Trad glanced at the time on his datapad. “Hey, isn’t it time that you started heading out? Not that I’m trying to get rid of you or anything,” he said, breaking the silence.

“Bantha fodder! You’re right,” Fyre said, glancing at her own. She quickly chugged the rest of her drink, and motioned the first corporal to do the same. When Luckystar stood there unmoving, Fyre said “We have less than half a standard hour to get to our shuttle. Move!” She quickly placed her drink on the still nearby hovertray, and grabbed her pack. “Well? Aren’t you coming?”

Alan entered the bar and looked around.  He had been returning back from a short voyage with Lucky and they had agreed to meet up at the bar and he was running late.  He smiled as he spotted her gazing out through the view port.  He also noticed a woman standing beside Lucky as she grabbed a bag.

“Lucky” called out Alan.

Lucky turned round and smiled, “Alan, I thought you were never coming”.

“Sorry, came as quickly as I could” replied Alan.

“Alan, this is Fyre Stone, Fyre, this is my husband, Alan” said Lucky as she carried out the introductions.

“Pleased to meet you” said Alan as he held out his hand.

Fyre took his hand and shook it vigorously.  Alan was surprised by the strength behind her handshake.

“Fyre is going to Tadath to become a Stormtrooper” said Lucky.

“Really, well you are going to love it” said Alan.

“Thanks, I’m looking forward to it.  The shuttle leaves in less than half a standard hour” said Fyre, “we really should get going”.

“I’m guessing a drink is out of the question then” said Alan.

Lucky jabbed him playfully in the ribs and replied “that will teach you to be late.  You missed a wonderful drink by the way, it was called a lisonie”.

“A Lisonie huh?” queried Alan.

“Yeah, but we don’t have time, next time we are in this neighbourhood I will treat you to one” said Lucky.

Alan sighed, he wanted to try a lisonie and more importantly have his usual glass of corellian ale but he also knew that the ship would not wait for them and they couldn’t afford to miss it.

“I’m going to hold you to that” said Alan.

Lucky laughed and grabbed his hand as she led him out of the bar with Fyre walking alongside them.

Slasher looked around as he worked through the final preflight checks on the shuttle with the pilot. Normally he would be the one piloting, but because this Petty Officer 2nd Class was preparing for her Senior Aviator's Exam, he decided to let her conn this particular flight, so that she could get in some practice for handling something other than a TIE fighter before she takes the exam. He looks out of the cockpit viewport of the shuttle as he sees a group of three people approaching from the direction of the Bar.

"Looks like our tardy passengers are here, we should be cleared to launch soon."

Walking into the bar, Hunter made his way over to the bar. He sat there for a full minute waiting before he realized there wasn’t a bartender in sight. Frowning, he slipped of the swiveling chair and turned, right into a small Rodian.

“Excuse me.” Hunter said politely and sidestepped.

The Rodian matched his movement.

[Would you like to buy some… er… spice? I’ve got a great deal going on right now.]  the Rodian said, his long nose quivering in anticipation of a sale.

Hunter recalled what Rodese he knew and deciphered the words.

“No, my friend. I would much rather save my money for a good investment, such as food. But I have a word of advice. You probably need to get as far away from this place as you can. I heard that a random search was going to be performed on this very bar in about thirty minutes. If you hurry, you can escape with your spice.” Hunter said, managing to keep a straight face.

As soon as the very scared spice dealer was out of the bar, Hunter continued on out the bar through another exit. Walking through a corridor, he glanced out an expansive viewport and noticed a small shuttle docked not far off. Narrowing his eyes, he made out a few shapes that looked like people walking towards it. The cockpit, being much closer, was more visible and Hunter made out a very familiar shape. Grinning slightly, he increased his pace to a steady jog and rounded the corner, headed towards the shuttle.

I have nothing better to do. Why not go aboard and see where it leads?

His footsteps rang loud in the deserted corridor. Loud enough for a distant small group to hear him. Two turned to see where the noise was coming from, but the third one kept walking. Hunter could tell that there were two women and a man. They turned and continued on to the shuttle. Quickening his pace, he arrived at the ramp leading into the shuttle right after the group. As soon as their feet left the ramp and entered the shuttle, the doors started to close. Launching himself forward, he slipped between the doors just in time. Rolling forward, he came to his feet to see a few people staring at him.

“Sorry about the rough entrance. Figured I’d come along for the ride. The names Hunter Morrell.” he said to nobody in particular.

As Trad has been seemingly forgotten, and I wrote this while on leave... in my spare time... I am going to post with Trad and incorporate your ideas as well... I think you'll all survive

Fyre was surprised to hear the word "husband" uttered from Luckystar's mouth. She galnced at Trad, and saw that he was looking at her. Fyre blushed and looked down, she knew what Trad was thinking. She quickly recovered and shook Alan's hand, with a bit more force than intended. She felt Trad cringe beside her at yet another butchering of the drink's name, and Fyre smiled inwardly. It seemed to her that every member of the Corps/Navy loved what they did. Even Alan said that she would love it.

“Thanks, I’m looking forward to it," Fyre said. She glanced at her datapad again, and cringed at the time she saw. "The shuttle leaves in less than half a standard hour, we really should get going."

As Fyre and Trad turned away and started slowly off, she heard Luckystar mention "lisonie" to her husband. Fyre could have sworn she heard Trad's soul shatter at yet another mispronunciation of the drink's name, and Fyre laughed a little to herself. The other pair didn't take long to catch up to Fyre and Trad, and they continued on their way to the shuttle.

They talked lightly, but Fyre felt Trad drift closer to her, and soon he had his arm around her waist again. Fyre rolled her eyes, and coninued talking to Luckystar and Alan, but didn't slip away from Trad like she did last time. It wasn't long until they entered the final hallway that lead to the shuttle that would take them to Tadath. However, Fyre heard footsteps ringing on the metal floor, and the sound was approaching from behind. Luckystar, Fyre, and Alan turned to see who it was. Fyre definitely didn't recognise the man, and she couldn't tell if the others did as well.

They continued on though, and soon approached the doors to the shuttle. The couple went aboard with Fyre's assurances that she would only be ten seconds. After they turned arouund, Trad embraced Fyre tightly, almost to the point where she couldn't breath. Fyre pushed him away gently. His hand emerged from his pocket, in which held a small box.

"Take it with you. Don't open it until after you are on your way to Tadath. It's something to remember me by," Trad explained. He then turned, and walked briskly away, almost bumping into the stanger that had been following the group.

She then boarded the shuttle, and the doors began to close. Fyre fingered the small box. She could probably guess what was inside, but didn't want to. It would almost definitly make her cry. She turned, and approached Alan and Luckystar. She hadn't gone two steps when she heard the sound of a body hitting the floor behind her. She spun quickly, and glanced at the mass lying at her feet.

“Sorry about the rough entrance. Figured I’d come along for the ride. The names Hunter Morrell," the body said. Fyre was just glad that it wasn't Trad, or a dead body for that matter. Fyre recognised the man as the one that was following her group, even though he looked different up close.

"Um, hi," Fyre said, taking a step back from Hunter Morrell. "Because thats what everyone does when they are bored," Fyre thought to herself. "They hitch a ride on a shuttle that they have absolutely no idea as to where it's headed."

As Slasher walked back into the passenger area of the shuttle, he heard the girl who had been talking to Luckystar at the Bar saying something to the effect of someone jumping on this shuttle and having no clue where it's headed. Moving over in her direction he immediately recognizes Hunter-Morrell, and laughing responds to the passenger's comment,

"That is Hunter-Morrell, Chief Petty Officer in the Vast Empire Navy, generally he likes to follow me around, because I have a tendency to get into trouble."

Hunter laughs and says, "Yeah Senior Chief, someone has to be there to get you out of trouble when you pick a fight with five Gran in a Bar."

"I keep telling you, it was only 4, the 5th was to drunk to care, and the others were pretty smashed too, I could have handled that myself"

"tell that to the wall, it's never been the same" retorts Hunter

"It wasn't to bad, I got up after I hit it, and the cut wasn't that bad!" says Slasher as he traces a scar which runs from his jaw down his neck, and disappears under the collar of his uniform.

"Yeah, you got up, but you were swaying like you were drunk as hell."

Slasher shrugs and laughs "I was drunk as hell"

with that the two pilots turn, laughing, and proceed toward the cockpit together.

Alan and Lucky boarded the ship and let Fyre say her goodbye to Trad.  She assured them that she would only be about ten seconds.  Alan watched her return to Trad and sympathised.  He knew he could not leave Lucky behind.

Although Fyre and Trad was not officially a couple, he could read between the lines.  He knew that Trad felt a lot towards her and he was certain that Fyre cared deeply for Trad.  He wondered if Trad would ever leave this place and follow Fyre to the Corps.

“She’s going to miss him, isn’t she” commented Alan.

“Yeah, hopefully the Corps will keep her busy enough so that she will not have time to miss him too much” replied Lucky.

“I hope so, I know that I couldn’t leave you behind” said Alan as he linked his arm around hers.

Lucky smiled and replied “I should think not”.

A noise startled Alan and he turned around to see Fyre just behind them and a man lying on the floor.  What the hell thought Alan as he and Lucky moved back to Fyre to find out who the person was that was lying on the floor and why.

The man stood up and before he could say a word, the pilot, Slasher had joined them.  He quickly introduced the man as being a fellow pilot called Hunter-Morell.  Alan listened to the two pilots talking about previous adventures and also about getting into trouble.

Both pilots moved away and headed towards the cockpit and Alan glanced over at Lucky and Fyre.  Both of them looked slightly concerned after hearing the pilot’s banter about their constant troubles.

“I hope he doesn’t get into trouble when he flies” said Alan.

“I’m sure he’s a fine pilot” commented Fyre.

“Right now I wish Zeshaun was flying” said Alan, smiling.

Lucky laughed and she elbowed Alan in the ribs and said “you don’t mean that”.

“Yeah, you’re probably right, that’s just asking for trouble” said Alan.

“Zeshaun?” queried Fyre, feeling left out of the two’s conversation.

“He’s a member of our squad, likes to fly but always crashes” said Alan.

“Well I’m glad we’ve got Slasher to pilot us then” replied Fyre.

The three smiled and agreed as they moved further inside the ship to find seating.  Alan could feel the engines sputter to life as the deck plating under his feet began to shudder.  Here we go thought Alan.

Lucky walked to the back of the ship, the rear section was one of her favorite spots to sit at. given it was just the three of them as passengers, anywhere would've been good but she did it out of habit.  One of the advantages of this location was that on some shuttles there was a minibar of which refreshments could be obtained at a very low price.

There was one on this shuttle but it wasn't needed at tthe moment, the drink Trad had givenher was good enough for now. taking a seat, she waited until she felt the shuttle rise before speaking. "I can't wait to hear your story, as to why yo would like to join the Corps, your objectives and such-" Not wanting to make the young girl feel overloaded with quetions and information, she stopped and looked at their companion, holding Alan's hand in her own.

She ducked her head and to listen better, and listened to Fyre's story of her life and how she had lived until today.wow...That's really something, Fyre talked for quite awhile, at some point Lucky offerred them all an ale, she took one, as did Alan. As a friendly gesture, she placed a glass in front of Fyre, she ddn't have to drink it if she didn't want to but it was there if she wanted or needed it. When Fyre finished telling her tale, she took a deep  breath and looked at them both.

"Well, we don't have any dancers in the corps but I'm sure you'll enjoy it, there's plenty of action out in the field and people are friendly when you're back at base. tadath is overall a very nice planet to live on even though you'll mostly be in the Corps, there will be occasions when you could venture outside the Corps walls."

Alan listened to Lucky chatting to Fyre and telling her that the Corps didn’t have any dancers.  He decided that he couldn’t let an opportunity like this slip him by and decided to tease her a little about it.

“It’ll be nice to have a professional dancer in the Corps, maybe you can teach Lucky here how to dance” said Alan.

“Hey!” exclaimed Lucky as she elbowed Alan in the ribs, “I can dance just fine”.

Alan laughed as he slipped his arm around her waist and said reassuringly “you dance wonderfully”.

Fyre looked over at Alan and back at Lucky and smiled as they teased each other about dancing.  She stole a glance out through the nearest view port and saw the space port grow smaller and smaller.

“You miss him, don’t you?” asked Lucky as she had noticed that Fyre seemed to be a million miles away.

“What?” queried Fyre as she suddenly realised that she had been asked something and now she didn’t know what it was.

“Trad” reiterated Alan, “you miss him”.

“Yeah” replied Fyre.

Alan could sense that Fyre was trying to hold back her tears and he sympathised.  Lucky moved next to Fyre and comforted her.

“Maybe one day your squad will be sent out here and you will see him again” said Lucky.

“Maybe” uttered Fyre, although Alan wondered whether this place would ever need the presence of a stormtrooper squad.

“Or perhaps he will decide to follow you and join the Corps himself” added Alan.

Fyre glanced over at Alan and said “somehow, I don’t think he’ll ever leave his bar”.

“Perhaps” said Alan, “but one thing I’ve come to learn is that this Galaxy is full of surprises”.

Fyre smiled as she took another glance out the view port and realised that the space port was no longer there.  She sighed softly and ran her fingers over the box that Trad had given her.

Fyre desperately wanted to open the box. Her fingers itched to open it. She could still see the emotions that reflected in his eyes: sadness, hope, desire, with a touch of hate. Fyre understood him, and knew why he felt the way he did. She also knew why she had to wait to open the box that was now surrounded by her fist. Fyre could easily guess what the small box contained, just by its size. If Fyre had opened it in front of him, she knew as well as Trad did, that she would have stayed behind. Trad didn't want that for her; he wanted her to follow her passions, to do what she wanted to do.

Her id called for her to open the box, while her super-ego told her not to. The two wrestled in her mind as she stared out the window, searching for the space port she would never see again. She didn't even realize that Alan and Lucky had been trying to talk to her. Fyre snapped back though when she felt a hand rest lightly on her arm. She turned to the arm's owner, and saw that it was Luckystar's.

"Are you alright? Do you need something to drink?" Luckstar asked.

The word "drink" almost brought tears to her eyes, as it brought back the almost three years of her "friendship" with Trad. Fyre attempted to get a grip on herself before she replied.

"No, I'm alright, I just can't help thinking about Trad. They say time heals all wounds..." she said, as her voice cracked on 'all".

She glanced out the window again, and wiped the brimming tears from her eyes before either Alan or Luckystar saw. Her hand curled tighter around the box. She considered spacing it, but that didn’t feel right to her.

Fyre turned back to Luckystar. She decided to change the subject. “At least I’m away from my stalker twi’lek and his deliciously waxed lekku,” Fyre said.

Both women laughed, but Alan shot both women a bemused glance. “Well, long story short, there is… I mean was, a rotund twi’lek after me back at the Duro spaceport. He would be first in line whenever I danced, and always asked me to touch his supposed waxed lekku. You might not have noticed him, but that’s one man I’m glad to leave behind,” Fyre said, bringing Alan into their little circle of joy.

Even though Fyre carried on a happy façade, her heart continued to stay broken for the time being. Fyre hoped that the others wouldn't notice her mask. She unclenched her hand and ran her fingers over the small box.

Alan knew that this was going to be a long trip back to Tadath and right now what he wanted the most was to get a drink.  When Lucky had asked Fyre if she had wanted a drink her voice had cracked slightly and Alan decided that it was best not to mention anything to do with bars right now as he knew she must be hurting after leaving Trad behind.

Glancing down, he noticed Fyres hand on the box that Trad had given her.  He could see the whiteness of her hand as she squeezed it tightly.  He wondered what it was that was inside the box and whether or not Fyre would ever have the courage and strength to open it.

Alan sympathised with Fyre.  He had left Lucky once for a few months and he could not stop thinking about her.  He remembered back to when Lucky had been taken away from him whilst on a mission.  He was a changed man.  All he could think about was Lucky.  He hoped that Fyre would be able to move on in her life.

Alan wanted to say something, tell Fyre that everything was going to be alright but he knew that anything he would say would be false.  He knew that the hurt would stay with her for a long time.  He hoped though that in time it would lessen.  Listening to the tale of the rotund Twi'lek, Alan decided to inject some humour and hopefully pull Fyre out of her saddened state.

"Maybe we could ask the Twi'lek to join the Corps" said Alan jokingly.

"Now don't even joke about that" replied Fyre, "I don't want to ever see him again for as long as I live".

"Well I'm certainly not going to have him in my squad" added Lucky.

"Can you imagine him running around in a battlefield carrying a blaster" said Alan as he chuckled at the thought.

Lucky laughed and said "now that would be something worth seeing".

For the first time since Alan had met Fyre, he heard her laugh and he was happy that at least for now, she seemed less sad.

Fyre was suprised to find herself laughing. She hadn't thought it would be possible, considering all she had left behind. As the three talked, she slipped the box discreetly into a pocket. Fyre knew there would be plenty of opportunities to open it, and she wasn't going to let this one ruin her day any longer.

"I'm thirsty. Anyone up for a drink?" Fyre asked.

After a quick glance between Lucky and Alan, they both consented. Alan offered to retrieve them, and as he stood, Fyre said "I doubt they have lasonay, so anything that isn't too strong will work for me."

After Alan disappeared, Fyre and Lucky started talking.

"So how long have you known Alan?" Fyre asked. She turned to the window again, and started watching the stars. "I'm paying attention, I promise. I just that I find stars comforting, as you already know," Fyre said, quickly turning her head to Lucky then back to the window.

There were so many, and Fyre had only been to the ones that had cantinas, which was a depressing thought. She couldn't even say that she had seen the planet. All Fyre had really seen was the inside of the cantina and her room, as well as the passage way connecting the two. "There will be plenty of chances to see planets now," Fyre thought. "I just don't know how much I'm going to see under fire."

OOC:
Someone had to post...

Alan soon returned with a hovertray close behind. He passed two of them to the ladies, and kept one for himself. The hovertray floated back to wherever it had come from.

"I hope I haven't missed anything interesting," Alan said.

"Oh don't worry. We haven't gone into anything.... too personal," Fyre replied, laughing.

Alan shot his wife a look.

"Hey, don't look at me like that. Fyre's telling to truth," Lucky said.

Fyre tried to look as innocent as possible, but the worried look on Alan's face made it extremely difficult for her not to crack a smile. Her will power faded quickly though, and she started laughing, which Lucky joined in.

"Have you been at the alcohol while I've been gone?" Alan asked.

"Nope, its just the lasonay we had that's kicking in. It's doesn't make you feel bad at all. It really just makes you happier," Fyre said.

"Good thing they didn't have any... good thing I didn't have any, otherwise none of us would be acting sane," Alan said, with a smile.

"Don't look too down. The effects are very contagious. Soon, you'll be having a good time as we are. And its all perfectly legal, no spice needed," Fyre said.

Lucky and Fyre started laughing again, while Alan sipped his drink. It occurred to Alan that Fyre might have had that drink on the spaceport because that she knew the effects of it.

"So, where were you born Fyre?" Alan said.

"Oh , no where big. Just on Dantooine in a little farming community."

"It must have been quite a change. Who were your parents?"

Fyre's response to the question was a sudden stop in laughing. Lucky continued on for a bit, then stopped. It seemed even she knew there was something wrong.

"Um, excuse me for a second. Lucky, could you come with me?" Fyre said, holding her hand out to Lucky. "We won't be gone long." Fyre didn't look at Alan.

The two walked off, leaving Alan confused and worried.

Fyre lead Lucky into another compartment of the shuttle. Both had sobered up quickly, and Lucky was worried.

"What's wrong Fyre?" Lucky asked.

"My parents... well, my father. I want to show you something. Promise me you won't say anything?"

"Yeah, I promise."

With that Sky turned her back to Lucky, and lifted the back of her shirt up. The long, thick scar was obvious on her back. After a short moment, Fyre lowered her shirt and faced Lucky again. Fyre was thankful that the other woman had kept her promise.

"My father did that," Fyre said. Tears were starting to well up in her eyes.

"Oh. I'm so sorry Fyre," Lucky said, as she embraced Fyre. The sat like that until Fyre had stopped crying.

"I hate him. I really hate him. To me, he wasn't my father."

Lucky nodded, unsure as to whether she should speak or not.

"I don't even know if he's alive still. My mother died some time back, and I know my brothers are still living. He's been dead to me ever since I left."

Lucky nodded in understanding. Fyre pulled away from her and took a deep breath.

"I think it's about time we returned to Alan. I think I'm going to need another drink... or two," Fyre said.

"Sure thing," Lucky replied. They stood, and walked back to where they had left Alan. Lucky sat beside Fyre. As Fyre chugged her drink, Lucky motioned to Alan that asking about her family was a bad idea.

"Um, I'll go grab you another. I'm out too. I'll be back," Alan said, dissapearing once again.

Alan watched Lucky and Fyre moving into a separate part of the ship.  He knew that something was wrong and he hoped that he hadn't said anything wrong or whether he had upset Fyre.  He finished off the rest of his drink.

Alan was happy when he saw Lucky and Fyre return.  He decided not to say anything and he noticed how quickly Fyre finish her drink.  Whilst Fyre finished her drink, Lucky motioned to Alan that asking about her parents was a bad idea.  Alan nodded and cursed himself inwardly for having brought up the subject.  Alan sensed that more drinks were required.

"Um, I'll go grab you another. I'm out too. I'll be back" said Alan.

Alan stood up and grabbed the empty glasses and moved through the ship and towards the bar.  He set the empty glasses on the bar and waited for the bartender to become free and serve him.

"What can I get for you?" asked the bartender.

"Give me three large Corellian ale's please" replied Alan.

The bartender merely nodded and Alan watched as he grabbed three tall glasses and started to pour the drinks out.  He set the three glasses down in front of Alan who promptly paid.

"Anything else?" queried the bartender.

Alan looked at the full glasses and couldn't find any hovertrays so he asked "you got any hovertrays?"

"No, sorry, they're all out" replied the bartender who reached below the bar and brought out a small tray, "will this do?"

"Thanks" replied Alan as he looked at the tray and wished a hovertray would return.  He began to set the drinks on the tray.

Alan started moving back to where Lucky and Fyre were.  He moved slowly so as not to spill any of the drinks.  He wondered whether there were any other topics he should steer clear of.  He was glad to get back without having spilled a drop.

"Thanks" replied Lucky and Fyre almost simultaneously as Alan set down the drinks.

Sitting down he grabbed his glass and took a sip.  He looked over at Fyre who had her glass and was taking a very large swig of it.

Alan glanced over at Lucky who had also noticed.  He wondered how to bring Fyre back to her jovial sense.

Lucky stared at the contents of her glass, she could still clearly see the large, thick scar in her mind's eye and it made her shiver. She took a swig of her ale and made the drink swirl in its glass, remembering her own horrors with her father from when she was a child.

Taking a deep breath and letting it out in a rush, she coughed and reached into a small bag she had on her, puling out a holo imager. "Fyre, would you like to see the establishment you'll be living in from now on?"

"Of couse."

She turned the holoimager on and flicked through the 3-d images  displayed, explaining about the squads, what her job was and the missions she had gone on in minute detail. Each mission was nique and your squad became your family, you had arguments, laughed and even sometimes shared a person's pain and sorrow.

she wasn't too sure how the conversation cme to veer of course but soon she was showing her two companions images of Tatooine and of hee family and friends and of the adventures she had had as a childhood.

"Must've been great living there' Fyre piped  up when Lucky showed her a picture of herself articipating in a pod race as the sun was setting.

"There were some ups and downs but it was great overall." Smiling, she flicked to the next image of her mother.

"Whose that?" qeried Fyre

"That, is Cara nash, my mother"

"She's beautiful"

"Isn't she? Sometimes i think of myself as ugly beside her. What I'm wondering is how she managed to keep herself looking so young."

"I don't think we'll ever know' put in Alan.

"Oh...we could come up with a few ideas" fyre said with a smile.

Alan watched as Lucky showed various images.  He recognised several of the images as various squads and pictures of Tadath.  Then the pictures moved onto her own family and Alan glanced over at Fyre and hoped it didn't bring up bad memories.

He thought back to when he had asked Fyre about her parents and the reaction it had invoked and how Lucky had told him that it wasn't a good topic to touch on.

Alan was thankful when he saw Fyre engaging with the pictures and not retreating into a dark place.  The pictures started displaying images of Lucky's mother and Lucky started querying how her mother had kept her beauty.

"I don't think we'll ever know" put in Alan.

Although he looked over at her and thought she looked stunning.  He had always thought Lucky looked beautiful and still looked beautiful.

"Oh, we could come up with a few ideas" Fyre said with a smile.

Alan didn't know what Fyre had in mind when she said it.  He finished off his ale and set down his empty glass.

"Anyone want another drink?" queried Alan.

"I could go with another" said Fyre.

"Another sounds good to me" added Lucky.

Alan reached out and grabbed the empty glasses and proceeded to make his way back to the bar.

Alan ordered up three more corellian ale's and was thankful to see that some hovertrays had returned.

The bartender put the ale's on the trays and they followed Alan back to where Lucky and Fyre were seated.

"Thanks" replied both Lucky and Fyre.

Alan set the drinks down on the table, Alan sat down taking his glass and sipping the cool refreshing ale.

He listened intently to what the conversation had moved onto as he took another drink from his ale savouring its flavour.

Fyre was glad to know what the base looked like; this way, she wouldn't look like a bumbling idiot wandering aimlessly around. She was slightly jealous of Luckystar's mother. Sky had her own holo-imager, which she pulled out.

"Want to see my past? Well... select parts of it anyway?" Fyre asked.

Luckystar and Alan shared a look, but then faced her and both nodded.

Fyre then turned it on. The first image that appeared was of her as a small child wearing a pink dress.

"My mother took most of my childhood images. My father... well, he wasn't as great at capturing moments..." Fyre said. She smiled sadly before moving on.

The next image was of a young Fyre and her Tusk Cat towering over her. Fyre had her arms extended upwards towards the beast's face, her face was beaming. "Thats Turhaya, my Tusk Cat."

"How old were you there?" Alan asked.

"Wow that hard to remember," Fyre laughed. "Um, I believe five or six."

"It didn't eat you?" he said.

"He... but yeah he didn't eat me." Fyre laughed again.

The following images mainly consisted of Fyre, Turhaya, and images of the animals she had cared for as a child.

"You kept quite a variety of animals," Luckystar said.

"Yeah, my father...."

Fyre flipped through the images until she got to the ones with her dressed in dancer attire.

"These ones are kinda embarrassing. Lucky, you might want to cover Alan's eyes," Fyes said.

The three laughed, and Fyre continued on. Lucky actually ended up covering his eyes at some, causing more laughs. Alan was sent for more ales. Then images of Trad with Fyre started appearing. Most involved the two standing close together, laughing.

Looking at the images, Fyre could see the love in his eyes, more so than she had thought she could see. She reached in her pocket and fingered the box.

"He might come for a visit every now and then," Fyre said absent mindedly.

A man then appeared from around a corner.

"Are any of you called Fyre?"

Fyre frowned. "Yeah, I am.'

"I was told to ask you, When did you leave home, and how many credits did you take?"

"I was 17, but I don't know why I should tell you the answer to the last question," Fyre said, raising her chin slightly.

"Good enough for me," the man said and tossed Fyre a data pad. "Its from someone called Jakar." He then dissappeared again.

Both Alan and Lucky stared at Fyre. She tried to swallow to huge lump in her throat that had appeared. "Jakar is my father," Fyre explained. "Um, I'll be back." Fyre then wandered off towards the refresher, not really seeing anything.

"Want to see my past? Well... select parts of it anyway?" Fyre asked.

Alan glanced over at Lucky.  He knew that the topic of her family was not a good topic to be on although he didn't know why.  So he was very unsure whether or not this was a good thing.  He didn't want to see Fyre upset again, yet it was her that had suggested it.  Lucky gave him a brief nod to say it would be alright and they both nodded to Fyre.

Images started flickering up.  Both Lucky and Alan looked on with interest at the various images of her childhood.  Alan couldn't get over the size of the cat and was surprised that it hadn't tried to eat Fyre seeing as how much it towered over the infant.

"These ones are kinda embarrassing. Lucky, you might want to cover Alan's eyes," Fyre said.

Alan smiled slightly.  He had to admit to looking forward to seeing embarrassing pictures.  His eyes widened slightly at some of the pictures when they came up.  They showed Fyre in some very revealing outfits.  Some of the pictures, Alan glimpsed something he guessed he really shouldn't have and Lucky's hand immediately went over his face.  They all laughed.

Then images of Trad started to appear.  Alan knew from the moment he had laid eyes on Trad and how he was around Fyre that there was love between the two of them.  The photo's only served to reinforce that belief as he could see it in his eyes.

Seeing the images of Trad reminded him of the box that had been given to Fyre.  He wondered if she would open it, if she would ever open it in fact.  His thoughts were disturbed when their party was approached by a strange man querying if any of them was Fyre.  He wasn't sure if Fyre knew him or not but when she confirmed that she was Fyre, Alan knew that she didn't know the man.  Suspicion crept over his face as he started wondering who this man was, how he knew Fyre would be here and what his intentions were.

The man proceeded to ask Fyre some very strange questions.  Questions that really made Alan uneasy and he glanced over at Lucky who also showed concern on her face.  Who was this stranger and why was he asking so many bizarre questions pondered Alan.

"Good enough for me," the man said and tossed Fyre a data pad. "It's from someone called Jakar".  He then disappeared again.

Alan could immediately tell from Fyre's face as it went suddenly pale that something was up.  Who was this Jakar person and why did it affect Fyre so badly.  He wanted to ask but decided not to as she looked shaken enough already.

"Jakar is my father," Fyre explained. "Um, I'll be back." Fyre then wandered off towards the refresher, not really seeing anything.

"I hope she will be alright" said Lucky when Fyre had wandered off.

"What is with her family, she looked like she was about to pass out when she received the pad" replied Alan.

Lucky began to fill Alan in on Fyre's relationship with her father.  Alan couldn't believe that anyone could do such a thing to someone that should love and cherish.

"You want to go after her?" queried Alan.

"I think she needs to be alone right now" replied Lucky, "she'll come get me if she needs someone to talk to".

Alan glanced over at the empty seat and couldn't even begin to think what emotions were going through Fyre right now.

Fyre stumbled to the refresher, bumping into random people and objects. She half heartedly muttered apologies, and didn't even bother to look at what she ran into. Everything felt dead. She couldn't feel anything, numbness had enveloped her and it threatened to take her into an endless darkness forever.

Somehow, she made it to the 'fresher. She stepped inside and closed the door behind her. She stood there for ten minutes, just looking down at the datapad, seeing nothing but her father's face, twisted with the anger and hostility that he had always seemed to hold for her. Fyre didn't even notice she was crying until the data pad was covered with her tears. A sad sigh escaped her lips as she attempted to wipe it off with her sleeve.

Fyre pressed her back against the wall behind her, and laid her head back so that it was pointing upwards. She closed her eyes and tried to calm herself. That however, was unsuccessful. Instead of seeing darkness, she saw her father chasing her with his vibroblade. Instead of feeling nothing, she felt the blade cutting into her back. Her eyes flashed open in response to the pain, and she slid to the floor. Fyre blacked out, but even then she wasn't granted relief.

Fyre was a little girl again, but this was not a happy time like it had been for many others her age. Abuse had been railed on her so often, she dreaded waking, and feared falling asleep, for her dreams were always worse than the reality. Even if Fyre slept with her tusk cat, she was haunted with images of her father through out the night. Fyre knew what would happen in this scene: her father would come bursting out the door in a drunken fit, his vibroblade brandished. She would bolt, and her father would chase her. Despite her best efforts, Jakar would catch her, and would slash her across her entire back. It would leave a scar, one that she had tried to keep hidden, only showing it to those she trusted, ones she felt drawn to in a familial way.

This time it was no different. Her father came after her, and she was almost cut down. She ran to the closest neighbour, but blacked out once she got there. Fyre came round when she blacked out. Her entire body was shaking uncontrollably, and any attempt she made to calm herself or grab anything were unsuccessful. Easily and hour and a half passed since she had entered the refresher, but Fyre had no way of knowing. It was then she heard the knock at the door, and Luckystar's voice closely following it.

Alan looked at the empty seat and his thoughts were on Fyre.  He couldn't even begin to imagine what was going through her head right now.  He suddenly became aware of Lucky's voice which brought his mind back to her.

"Sorry" said Alan, as he realised he had not heard a word of what she had said.  "What were you saying?"

"I was saying that you never talk about your parents much" said Lucky.

"Not much to say really" replied Alan, "they were good, kind decent people.  They loved me dearly and I loved them just as much.  They never deserved the fate that the Galaxy dealt them".

Lucky looked at him, her face showing her concern for him as she asked, "you don't have to tell me but what did happen to them?"

Alan thought back to that day.  It had been a long time since he thought about it.  Sure, he thought of his parents a lot but of that day, no.  It was like he had put the memory to the furthest part of his brain.

He remembered when he had first joined the Vast Empire and of the nightmares he had had.  It had taken some time for him to settle in and then he had found happiness, not only with the people and the VE itself but of his love for Lucky, why did he need to remember such a haunting experience.

"It might help you to heal if you get it off your chest" coaxed Lucky.  She could see that his heart was torn between telling and not and she didn't want to force the issue but she knew that if he divulged with her what happened then it might help him deal with it.

Alan touched his face, he could feel the scar across his cheek and he remembered back to that fateful day.  Lucky reached out a hand and held Alan's hand as he recounted the day.

"I was in my late twenties when it happened.  There was a lot of turmoil and Corellia had been sent Imperial troops to bring about the end of the turmoil.  I remember the troopers were chasing this man, tall lanky fellow.  My father tried to stop him.  Why did he do that" said Alan.

Lucky looked into his eyes.  She wasn't sure whether he was asking her or just questioning it himself.  She decided not to say anything but to let Alan continue with his tale.

"Anyway, the man shot both of my parents without any provocation.  I guess he was running scared and didn't want anyone, be it soldiers or civilians to stop him.  I got away lucky, all I got was this" said Alan as he stroked his scar.

"Did they catch him?" asked Lucky.

"Yeah, the troopers finally caught up with him and arrested him" replied Alan.

"Well that's good, at least he won't be causing anymore trouble" said Lucky.

"No, he won't, I killed him" replied Alan.

"You what?" asked Lucky, "I thought you said the troops captured him".

"They did, but the trooper that helped me brought me to the captured man and I exacted my own vengeance.  He won't be ruining any more lives" said Alan.

Lucky looked at Alan.  She hoped he felt better.  She knew that Alan had a dark streak in him.  She recalled how viciously he had killed the man that had captured her on one of their earlier missions.

"Hasn't Fyre been gone a long time?" asked Alan.

Lucky glanced at the clock and was surprised by how much time had elapsed.

"Yeah, she's been gone too long, I'd better go and make sure she's ok" replied Lucky.

Alan nodded and watched Lucky go.  He sighed, he did feel better and he hoped that his parents were in a better place.  I hope Fyre is alright thought Alan as he waited for them to return.

"Lucky? Is that you?" Abalar called out, in hopes that her shaky voice would carry through the metal door.

The only reply that came was another knock on the door, signalling that her voice was too quiet.

"Lucky?" she called out again, only this time, as loud as she could manage.

The uncontrolled shaking made it difficult to speak, let alone breath. It didn't really matter to Abalar who it was, just as long as it wasn't some strange man, or woman, with a twisted mind.

"Yeah?" came Lucky's reply.

"Come."

Abalar's speech had degraded into one word sentences, partially because she didn't trust her voice, but also because she could barely breath. She didn't want to waste any air, she didn't even know if she would be able to regain it.

"It's locked Fyre."

That one phrase made Abalar's world come crashing in around her. She glanced at the locking panel by the door, and she could have sworn that the distance between her and it tripled as her eyes rested on it. Abalar let out a shaky defeated sigh.

"Wait," Abalar said.

She half rolled over onto her side, then started squirming towards the door. It was definitely a long three feet. The worst part was sliding across the dirty floor. Abalar would have shuddered if she could have; being germophobic, this was one of her worst nightmares. She kept her eyes averted from the floor at all times. as they were one of the few things that Abalar could control.

"Don't even think about it Fyre," she though to herself. She could feel the grime on her arms and her face, whenever she had to put it down to rest her neck.

Eventually Abalar reached the wall that held the locking control. Somehow, she was able to get herself upright. When she extended her arm though, she discovered that she was still too short to reach the panel.

"Hey Fyre, you alright?"

It was amazing how much louder three feet made to Lucky's voice.

"Ish. Wait."

With her arm still extended over her head, Abalar pressed her back up against the wall, and used it as support to stand up. She slipped a couple times and went crashing to the floor. However, she got right back up again. When Fyre had almost given up, her fingers touched the panel, causing the door to unlock and slid open with a hiss. Lucky came rushing in, and caught Abalar as she tipped over.

"You don't look alright Fyre," Lucky said. The concern was noticeable in her voice. "You need help."

"No. No help. Wait. Wait it out," was the only thing Abalar could say before she feinted.
