Course: Defensive Operations
Course Type: Practical
Course Description: Troopers will learn how to defend themselves while inside a vehicle. A lecture may precede the course, and a competentcy exam will follow. Like in the previous course, troopers will be examined in at least four different vehicles that are dependent on their selection of sub-specialty.

Pretty sure that says inside. Don't know why we would train you to defend a vehicle outside, seems like that's pretty common soldiering to me.

Attacking versus Defending. The easiest way to look at the difference is this: You attack when you have an advantage, albeit in numbers, position, technology, what-have-you. Generally attacking is pressing forward on enemy positions.

Defending is just the opposite. Yes if you choose your words this way you can be "attacking" the "attackers." However, you are almost always defending a position or building, and as such your tactics are less aggressive and more strategic than your basic attack, as you need to coordinate defenses on all fronts.
