If anyone reads my story, The New Prophecy. Please post your comments here. I would like to know the opinions of other SW fans.

The story has a good premise, however there are a few things. As a fellow writer, but also as a seasoned member of this club, I'm going to give you some advice. The first is the most obvious; get your story together before posting it on here, because the collection of small posts is very distracting and a little annoying. It feels like you're just throwing together a post as the story comes to you, when you should get your thoughts together and post a few large sections of the story, instead of a lot of little ones. I'll be honest, when I first opened your story I was very irritated by the massive amounts of little posts, and I almost didn't read the story.

The next is this, write your story in Word before you post it here, there are a lot of grammar and spelling errors that need to be worked out. The ComNet even has a spellcheck option, so there's no excuse for misspelling, so utilize that. You also seem to have a lot of run-on sentences where the subject obviously changes, so break those into sentences of their own.

Also, at this time in your early membership in the VEA, you want to consentrate more on your training so you can then be placed in a squad, where you will learn to hone your writing skills and learn the rules about storywriting here in the VE. If you've come to the VE just to write and not fully participate in any other way, you've joined the wrong division and should contact the Command Staff. If not, then you need to focus on other things this early in the game, then later you can do these run on stories. We very much appreciate the initiative and your focus, but you want to aim those at other ventures for the time being.

The last is this, and this comes from me being a member of the DJO here: It is a strick policy that any member of the regular divisions, such as Army in your case, do not mention the existence of Jedi/Sith in their stories. This is law due to the fact that the Vast Empire is placed in a time where the Jedi have been wiped out, the last of the Sith have been destroyed, and the Jedi Order is still considered to be a "hokie religion." We're in the time period just before the Rise of Thrawn, so members of the regular divisions need to display a complete igonorance to the Force and the ways of the Jedi/Dark Jedi in their Role Playing.

The one thing that stood out for me in your stories was your use of detailed description - which I thought was very good. Not a lot of people realize the importance of writing in great detail (how it allows for a better picture to be formed in the mind).

Your real life schedule is completely understandable, so no worries on trying to make any deadlines and such. Real life always comes as first priority, and we will always try to accommodate those with hectic schedules - families will especially keep you on your toes.

As for the "just playing around" type of writing, yes, that's posted on the StoryNet here. We actually haven't had any story topics posted on the RPG ComNet, as we mainly reserved that ComNet for specific activity details (example: RPG being held on mIRC with stat sheets, dice roll, etc.)

Even with our "non-official VE" stories, our members have tried to keep their material relevant to the VE's current time line (we're currently in the middle of the Thrawn Era; approximately 5-8 years ABY).

As for a ComNet that allows for any and all types of Star Wars writing (inviting all time periods), we haven't put any effort into making something like that, but it's an interesting concept. I know a lot of people join this club thinking they can start posting about the Sith/Jedi right off the bat, and we are continuously informing them that they cannot do so because of our time line issues. However, that brings an interesting idea to the table: have an area/ComNet dedicated to just all-around fun role play, completely separate of the VE and its time line discrepancies. I'll be sure to look into that.

Anyway, because I haven't heard from you since your very first post, I was under the impression that you had decided to leave the Vast Empire (the majority of people do since they think the VE is a game you can "log in" upon joining). I have reinstated you back into Active Duty, and have placed you under the commander of Sergeant Saphira Striker. She's the Drill Instructor of the Academy's Dreshda squad. Go ahead and post on the Dreshda squad topic in the Academy ComNet to announce your arrival.

As a side note: we (the VE) do a lot of squad-related stories. In fact, the majority of our posts revolve around that basis. However, the Vast Empire is a Star Wars writing club, meaning any and all types of writing are welcome. If time isn't being nice enough to let you post consistently on squad stories, then I'm sure a happy medium can be arranged. And as for the "strict rules" - these apply to everyone, but primarily to the people that have never written (ever) any fan fiction before. For those that do have experience, they're mainly guidelines since we know that you know how to collaborate with others and create legitimate stories and story content.

I think the point that they are trying to get at Draco is that continuity and canon is important here at the VE.

Being a star wars fan I'm you're very familiar with the two concepts. Whilst you may not have to be in character whilst posting on the StoryNet, you are still within the designate time line from this club.

So yes, you are right in saying that a lot of more freedom is allowed in the StoryNet, a lot of people write stories not about their character on the StoryNet, but you still have to stick to canon.

The possible exceptions to this rule would probably be were you posting a story about a different era, one that has alot of knowledge about Jedi/sith etc... it would have no effect on the current events here in the VE, so i'm sure it would be allowed. *looks over at the boss*

At the end of the day though, whether you understand it or not, you still have to do it. Yes, you are a star wars fan here to roleplay, but your here in the VE, going by VE rules and I'm afraid that is something we all have to live with.

Then that should have been stated at the beginning of your story in a OCC. That way all this confusion would have been avoided

I understand. But at first, I didn't know how to do OOC, so I appolagize for my lack of knowledge. But when Draco is explaining the prophecy to Delasani, he clearly states that Vader died 100 years before, so it was stated, just not until later.
