About the Vast Empire Writeup

I'd like to get a new about page written up about the Vast Empire. The current about page is pretty old, so it's more than past time to get it updated. You can see the current about page here: http://www.vastempire.com/main/ref/about/What I'd like to see from all the members, is some ideas about what we should put in our new about page. Things like, what we say on the page, what you think the VE is actually about, more role playing information or not, etc. I'd actually want the entire about page to span multiple sections, so people browsing the site can get a better idea about who we are. Post up some ideas to this topic so we can get it started. Once we get an outline of which sections will be on the about page, then we can go into writing them up. Grand Moff Kadann, Dark Lord

Here are some quick ideas (I'm too tired to think more in-depth at the moment):
Change what we are about to reflect our current M.O. more accurately: i.e., we're pretty much a fan fiction club first these days, so let's put that before any talk about games.
But speaking of gaming, ought to update that list of games - and this would be a good time to do so, as the Army enters its HSC. We should really set down a firm list of which games we play ... and which includes taking out a few of those really old ones that no one touches these days.
The "prominent members" of the HC should include Japheth and Fury. They've both been in charge of their respective divisions for years; I think they deserve it.

Good ideas. Definitely need to revamp the entire page. So far, we have: - More talk about role playing aspect
- Valid list of games
- Updated HC staff
- Active member counts

I'll post more as I get more organized :P
But:
* Update current timeline to Thrawn Era instead of Prior-to-Thrawn Era
* Update which divisions you can join: Stormtrooper Corps/Imperial Navy. Fix up the wording that states something along the lines of "If you can disappear for 2+ consecutive years, you're qualified to join the Elite Division". :P Or something that says that only a chosen few of dedicated members are allowed the honor to join... or something. Along the same lines, update the time-line, however give some context as well, whats happening in the Thrawn-era? What state is the Galazy in? Perhaps even reference it too the books, e.g. "this is around the time of >name book<.
You should definitely downplay the Games aspect. As far as i can see, it's now just used as a tournament facility between factions. Mention something about the community aspect, and the divisions that you can join, as was mentioned. Although add in the Engineering Corps, maybe it will get some new recruits.
A general re-write of that paragraph currently up is needed, incorporating the new ideas. You could glam it up a bit too, by adding pictures, etc...
