For those that haven't noticed: Chapter 8.5 has begun! I'd like to thank Raiders for taking the initative and already getting a story post out. The rest of you it seems: need something to motivate you, so here is the Chapter 8.5 Competition to accompany the storylines!

Individual Competition: The individual that has the most posts will receive a large amount of Ics, and some personal equipment along with any other post-stoyline rewards handed out.

Squad Competition: The Squad that has the most combined posts will receive a complete equipment upgrade or a equipment revamp that involves switching their squad specialty.

Platoon Competition: The winning platoon will not only get bragging rights over the other, but will receive an equipment upgrade. Furthermore, each trooper in the platoon will be able to select a specialty story of their choice to not only get waived, but will get credit for it as if they passed it.

Graphics Competition: There will be three categories and two winners for the graphics competition. The work must be your own and submitted to Rizzit, Kairo, and Aphamos. You must state which category you are submitting your entry for and if selected you will either win best picture or runner-up. Each winner will get their work uploaded to the VE's official Image Gallery and receive a congradulatory prize based on which place you came in. The categories are as follows:

Story-based Graphics

Images must portray a scene of some sort from Chapter 8.5

General Star Wars Pictures

Images must be depicting Star Wars

Vast Empire Pictures

Images must represent some manner of the Vast Empire

Allright so that's the competition. It will run the entire duration of Chapter 8.5! You need to start a story on your own based on your orders that Fury posted. Have fun, and Good Luck!

On a side note, Ch8.5 is probably going to take longer than your normal competition or story, so don't go crazy in the first week and wear yourself out. You can if you want, but just remember that since this is a form of a chapter story that quality is way above quantity, even though this is a competition. So please, don't make a bunch of crappy short posts trying to "win". I'd prefer you don't at least.

Far From Perfect, the story of a VEA Combat Medic

I know some people aren't going to check my signature, and are just going to check my rank and wonder what the hell im doing posting here, so lets sort that out first. Kanderin Draken, Wraith Squad.

Out of interest, does it have to be the Squad leader that posts the start of the story? Im not quite sure where Arnaut is (Well actually im not quite sure where half of the squad is, but thats not the point), but im sure he wouldn't want us sitting around doing nothing until he returns.

Can another member of the squad start the story? In this case, i could do it. I understand the mission, so i dont see any major problem. But, its best to check here first.

the way I look at it is this, if someone who is higher up does not like your post they can always edit it, You definately should not be sitting down playing the damsel in distress because no one will rescue you because your too damn ugly carpe diem and perhaps you will be rewarded for it.

word count minimums are ridiculous. I'd much rather have a short, but good post. If they write 300 great words, and then realize they need 200 more, it's gonna be just stupid filler text.

Yeah, word counts are bad. I cant help but focus on the word count when im writing for the ESC, and my posts turn out rather, cardboardish. The post just now is roughly the same size if a little smaller, but arrogant or not i reckon better written.

And the day i make a point of bringing up Wraiths inactivity the story starts up. Got my moment to shine stolen from me there...

Since I've been here it has been up to the Squad leaders if there is a word minimum and would be enforced by them. So really there hasn't been an army wide minimum, at least since I've been here.

If there was to be one implemented then I wouldn't disagree with a 300 minimum, but as I said earlier I'd rather not have one because it may end up becoming work and that would defeat the purpose of this being something fun.

I don't think there should be a minimum if people are gonna go nuts over it. I do think though that people should use there own judgement on whether its long enough or not. I've seen a 233 word post in the competition, and the fact that its counting for points is somewhat disturbing.

Okay, I've had just about enough of this. This competition was meant to inspire activity not bickering! Now, either stop your moaning and groaning or it'll be cancelled! We come up with these things to try and motivate you guys and let you have fun, but all I've seen produced out of this so far is a bunch of whining. This place is NOT a democracy, it's a dictatorship. Deal with it!
