Basic Training Suggestions

Hey gang.

I'm trying to figure out what would be the best method of Basic Training for our recruits. Currently, my idea is to transform the Academy into a "simulated" platoon - have recruits participate in short stories, and then we evaluate those that are ready to join the active duty squads.

Well, I've gone through numerous ideas in my head, so I'm looking for some advice from the people that have actually gone through it.

Bottom line:

What where you expecting to see, training wise, upon joining the VE?

What do you think would be beneficial to add/remove from the Basic Training criteria? (Character biography, site orientation, etc.)

We have enough for a platoon?

Well I always thought that they could start specs in BT. The actual US military has troopers go through BT, then to AIT (Advanced Individual Training) Units where they get their MOS. After that, they go into actual active duty.

Now expecting them to complete a whole spec is unreasonable, but what if you designed a "mini spec" that they can work with? Perhaps a "Stormtrooper" MOS, which has two or three short things for them to work with?

ie:
Stormtrooper Spec
~Basic Weapon Use
~Basic Technology
~Squad Tactics

Or perhaps you can just have them do the first story of a spec. If their spec is decided before being placed into a squad, you might be able to place them into a squad that has a role related to their choice.

For example, Vehcile Crewmen would be best in the DD. In the case of medics, you can scatter them amoung different squads.

well I think the short stories that they work on should be to improve their "basic" skills I mean just because your willing to become a stormtrooper doesn't mean you can hit a womp rat at a 100 paces. Kinda have them write stories about actually going through training.
