Relieving the stress of writing for troopers

Hey gang.

This is more of a means for me to determine why our writing activity has declined in recent years and how to improve it. I've been looking over the story posts of our current troops and those of our old ones back in the day, and I think I may have found an answer of sorts to help give activity a boost.

I'll let you observe some of the old posts found in our previous Imperial Omega Campaign. If you notice, the story posts in the Imperial Omega Campaign (IOC) were very short compared to a lot of the posts we see today. In fact, I have looked over some of the old stories we've gone through (Chapter 6), and I found that the vast majority of posts had less than half a page-to-slightly less than a page in length. So, as an experiment, I'm proposing that all of the troopers keep their post sizes within that same range (less than a page in length-to-slightly less than a page in length). If you wish to go beyond that limit, then by all means do so. I realize that the pressure is on to make quality posts, and for some that may be interpreted as "1.5 - 2 pages in length". Quality of the posts must still be retained (grammar), and such quality can come in various sizes (sentences, paragraphs, pages). If my assumptions are correct, I'm hoping to see an increase in post production due to the relief in having to make a 2-page post.

In conclusion, to help relieve the stress and provoke some actual fun with the story writing, I'm going to see if this new experiment works out. In all honesty, I think one of the reasons why post production was so hot a few years ago was because the posts were so short - they were easy and quick to read, and responses were easily made as well. The story flowed more smoothly and faster - people weren't bogged down by having to read huge posts (granted some writers were excellent, and made you want to read more). In my opinion, shorter posts made the stories a lot funner to participate in.

NOTE: I realize we do have a squad or two that has members making less than a page's length in posts, so for those squads I have yet to figure out what to do.

Funner?

I agree though. Of course, the minimum requirement that SLs are asking IS only half a page Cos. I believe 400-500 words is about half a page in word. But still, I agree with what you are saying. Of course, this is not to say, that people still can't make longer posts if they wish to.   The point is people. Post with what you are comfortable with doing.

I usually make 500 word posts.  I usually dont have the time to make longer posts then I'd like to - I hold 500 words as my minimum standard for the squad.
