I need some help guys, I was looking for a graphics generator/editor, whatever they are called. I basically want to learn how to make my own graphics but have no idea where to find and free ones. Could you guys recommend any for beginners, the more advanced for more detailed graphics?

i don't know if it my settings or what, but my photoshop spat out fatty images, where as Gimp, the same images, were much smaller in file size.

nope, i'm just saying how the same pictures, same format, such as .jpg and .gif, and same pic size. came out a lot bigger from photoshop than gimp.

When saving images in PS, especially JPG's, it's common to leave the quality slider at "12" which is useless IMO, as a setting of 9 or 10 is almost identical in quality to 12, but can be several times smaller in size.

It's basically image optimization (decreasing the quality slider number will decrease the quality, thereby lowering it's total size in bytes.) He's saying that by decreasing to a number such as 10 or 11 from 12, the size will change dramatically (maybe from a 15 byte image to an 11 byte image) without it appearing to have lost any quality at all (to the naked eye).
