YouTube was bought out from Google for 1.65 MILLION dollars. Quite perplexing, if you think about it. That is ALOT of money. I just discovered this recently, and I can't believe they got bought out. But I guess people were putting on video's that had been copywrited, and too aviod it, they sold out to Google. What are your idea's about Google owning YouTube, as now they will probably have advertisments at the beginning of the video's, and there might be a fee to put up your video.

I doubt that, since Google already has Google Video, so why would it suddenly make you pay and put adds -----------------------

THhis is kidna old news, but I'll say this:
YouTube was probably made for the sole purpose of selling. Most internet sites are. Have a good idea, put it on the internet, make it work, sell it for a huge profit to a bigger organization. -----------------------

Just a note here. It wasn't sold for 1.65 Million dolllars.
It was sold for 1.65 billion.

I was sure that they said Million, well, we all make mistakes, and I was on the comp when they had annoucened it. So, they might of helped in me not actually hearing it. All I knew before YoTube was up and running was that they had small animation, that was about it. -----------------------

I'm sure a figure into the billions would be more feasible. Youtube is that huge.

I heard about this last week, so yeah old news.
Just the actual figure kept changing for me, first it was two hundred million pounds, then it was two hundred million dollars, now its in the billions?
And the two owners are barely into their twenties you know, those guys are sorted for life  -----------------------

Yillis, they would probably make you pay them because of how much they paid for YouTube. ~_^ They'll probably put on before each video ad's for Google. XD -----------------------

I think the only reason that someone like Google would buy youtube! is for the advertising.
Plus from what I heard Google might give some people money as an award if they do a really popular video. -----------------------

Ok, so different price ranges. 1.6b, I've heard 1.8b, and now 2.2b. :P Google doesn't need YouTube for a "videos section". As said above, it has its own. From what I've heard on the news and such, Google bought YouTube simply because it would allow them more "eyes" on their site. More viewers = more money. Yeah, it's $2.2 billion or whatever, but they'll probably regain that money in... what... a year if not less? :P -----------------------
